Re: Weekly Check-In 11/29

  • How far along are you//EDD:

    34 + 6

Size of the baby:  yesterday he was 5lb 5oz at u/s.

Upcoming appointments: weekly apptointments now. Every Wednesday. GBS next week.

How are you feeling?: ready to be done but at the same time not wanting it to be over cause I generally enjoy beimg pregnant. And this is likely our last

Rants/Raves: everyone keeps telling me I need to be fixed or my husband. And yes together we will have 7 children. But its no ones business but ours. I was almost set on getting my tubes tied. Then realized I'd only be doing it to satisfy everyone else.after after a discussion with DH last night we decided against it.  So likely I will.go back on the nexplanon. It worked really well for me in the past.

Questions:  anyone else feeling pressured by others to make such decisions

GTKY: do you have any pets? If not, did you have pets growing up? Do you want one eventually?

We currently have 2 pits named Princess and Venom. And a puggle named Pugsley. All are about 3 years old. The puggle is the only one we have had since a puppy.

  • @AshleyGemini24 I'm genuinely pissed off at the people in your life that make those sorts of comments to you. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. It's unbelievable what some people feel they are entitled to discuss with others.
  • 😮😱😡 @AshleyGemini24!!! Is it possible to cut those people out of your life? It’s no one’s business but yours and your partner’s what you choose for family planning of any measure. Not the government’s, not scripture, not family members, friends, strangers. I’m also upset for you that so many people have told you guys to get “fixed”.

To answer your question about that… 100% I felt pressure to not have kids from a few people in my life. My little sister (best friend) especially. She stopped talking to me when I told her I am pregnant. I hid it from her for as long as possible bc I knew she would. I almost chose not to have a child because I was afraid of losing her friendship. That’s how pressured I feel by others’ thoughts on my reproductive choices. I’m still very sad that I had to make the choice between my relationship with her or becoming a mother. I think about it every day. Kudos to you for standing up for yourself and making the choice that’s best for you!!
  • @ashleygemini24 @katepattsea That is just WILD. How dare any of these people!
  • Wow, I’m so sorry @AshleyGemini24 @katepattsea how incredibly rude and arrogant. It’s nobody’s business or choice but yours. I would try to limit contact which I know can be very hard when it’s family. Also, if someone weren’t supportive of my choice to have a kid I’d be very reluctant to have them be involved in that kid’s life.
  • How far along are you//EDD: 32 weeks//Jan 25

Size of the baby: Polly Pocket Adventure Playset! (80s reference sizes)

    Upcoming appointments: today, 32 week

How are you feeling?: Eh, not bad. Pelvic pain has lessened a bit and monitoring my blood sugar (diet controlled GD) feels less emotional and more routine. Still haven’t figured out how to prevent hip pain while sleeping (even with pillow between legs, flipping often) and a bit overwhelmed with work.

Rants/Raves: I REALLY want cake :'( and pizza…and I’m doing well with weight gain and blood pressure B)

Questions: What things did you give your partner/SO/support person to do so your brain could relax a bit? My husband wants things to do and I’m already overwhelmed with the food and glucose monitoring, making sure I get enough water, move enough, remember to take my prenatals, etc etc… (and work FT)

GTKY: do you have any pets? If not, did you have pets growing up? Do you want one eventually? We have 2 furfamily members, one cat (just turned 9) and one dog (will be 5 on Valentine’s Day). Didn’t grow up with dogs or cats, but had a bird and fish. We are thinking a second dog next fall.
  • @bflibump - welcome to the group!  Great question on how this husband can help.  I actually also have GD diabetes and I kinda had a meltdown about it.  My husband took over the communication with my nurse, logging my blood sugar and giving me the nightly insulin injection.  It’s been a huge load off for me bc I can stress about everything else lol!  Not sure if you’d be comfortable with that but I think my husband weirdly likes it and feels he helps a lot (which he does!)
  • Thanks @karenmarie9! My husband mentioned that I can give him things to do even if I don’t trust him :-/ I’ve taken on all of the baby things like registry, classes and reminders, just washed baby clothes, diapers and sheets. I think I wouldn’t be overwhelmed about things for my body/growing our baby if he could do everything else lol! Maybe packing our hospital bag (he asked if I could write out a list…) and getting a list of pediatricians for us to look through?

Can he install your car seat/any stroller adapters? Set up baby monitor? Make freezer meals?
  • Anyone else find that they bruise super easily all of a sudden? My legs were itchy out in the cold yesterday so I scratched them (through my pants) and last night when I went to take a shower I had long bruises where I had itched. Google has convinced me I’m dying of course, and I’m glad I have a Dr appointment tomorrow. But I might be panic packing a bag just in case lol
  • @MrsJessS yes! Throughout this pregnancy, I’ve tended to bruise a little easier or it takes longer to heal. They’ve checked a couple CBC’s mainly to check the hemoglobin but my platelets have always been normal and they said not to worry.
  • @rachel0428 it’s so weird! My midwife double checked and my platelets were great last time but she had me get them checked again today for peace of mind. So fingers crossed

    How are you @magalina_h?
  • @magalina_h Oh my goodness, how stressful!! I am sending so many positive vibes. We are so close!! I get thinking about getting a hotel room…just to be safe, but I hope it doesn’t come to that for you.

It makes me feel so much better that others have had similar experiences with their second or third pregnancies, although it isn’t pleasant whatsoever! @blackhottamales @MrsJessS @elksamm @magalina_h Thinking of you all!! Only a few more weeks…it’s gone so fast for me so I’m hopeful it will continue to go fast for all of us…especially with the holidays in full swing!
  • @magalina_h So happy to hear your test was negative! I'm sure that was a huge relief. Although I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well.
  • @magalina_h Glad to hear you and DS are ok and that your husband is on the mend! I hope you get the cough remedied soon - could it be seasonal allergies (I have no idea what the weather is in Iowa).
  • @magalina_h hope it’s not bronchitis! But glad baby girl seems to be staying put. Hope you feel better soon and you’re able to have the L&D experience you’re hoping for.
