Has anyone done a pregnancy announcement with some of their girlfriends? I'm having trouble finding ideas for cute sayings to use through Google, so if anyone has anything, I'd love some ideas. Here's the background: I do an exercise program for moms and 2 of the other moms recently announced they're pregnant. So tomorrow, we're having a momsgiving dinner and I'm going to wear a shirt that says, "the turkey ain't the only thing in the oven." I was thinking since not everyone will be there, the 3 of us pregnant mommas could pose for a picture together and I could have some cute little saying like "joining the club," or "another baby on board." If you have any other ideas, please send then my way... We have a closed fb group, and I figured I'd post the picture in there for everyone else to see.
Going from 2 to 3 we are going to need a bigger car. I think we are crossing to minivan territory. The 3 row SUVs just have such small trunk space and be tough to get into the 3rd row so I"m not sure that that would work for us. But I never thought I would have a minivan so I'm dreading it a bit. Does anyone have a minivan already? Are they as bad as I think they are :' (
@third2022 I have a minivan (got it almost 2 years ago prepping for DS who is number 3). I literally love everything about it 😂 I always made fun of minivans but I don’t think I’d be able to switch to an SUV at this point. The automatic doors! Enough seating! Leg space! Trunk space! It’s amazing lol
@third2022 we got a 3 row a couple months ago after testing out and researching everyone on the market. I also followed the_car_mom on Instagram and watched her YouTube reviews in the buying process.
@third2022 I had a minivan and pretty much loved driving it even though it was a fairly crappy Pontiac Montana. BUT now I have a Mazda 5 and it still seats six people and I think it's basically the best car ever.
@lbindc523 I’ve never had one personally, but if it makes you feel better I assist on colps at work and we do them on pregnant mamas. It’s usually at their 16wk OB check
@pajamstagrams my first (38wks) was 8lb12oz. My second (37wks) was 7lbs10oz. My third (40wks) was 8lb12oz. I never heard that your subsequent babies are bigger! That would have freaked me out!

Does anyone take an Omega-3 (DHA) supplement? If yes, which one do you take? I realized my prenatal (which I love for other reasons!) doesn't have DHA and I can't even think of eating fish right now to try and supplement it with food.
@karisahamdi My doctor was just talking about this today. I have been using Nature's Made with DHA and really like it (though I know you said you love your vitamin!).
I know it's early for this but I'm already thinking about VBAC vs. repeat c-section. Does anyone on here have success with a VBAC? I know it's a totally individual decision based on your own circumstances-- just curious!
Now that I’m officially in 2nd tri, I’m allowing myself to act on these things 😆 Does anyone have a double stroller recommendation? We currently have a Britax and a Bob and from what I can tell, you can’t convert to a double?
@b_1029 I have an UPPAbaby Vista and planning to buy just the kickboard standy thing + upper/lower adapters for now to be able to use both a bassinet/carseat + toddler seat. One thing to note though, I know on the vista, due to weight loading, you CANNOT put the baby on top and toddler seat on bottom. Other strollers might be similar. Doesn't matter to me so much which kid goes where, but I know a lot of people get bent out of shape about that.
@b_1029, I'm trying to decide what to do about a double, too. I definitely don't need an everyday double stroller because DS is 3 but I do an exercise class that involves the kids during in a stroller for the duration of class, and I'm thinking I may need to get a double bob (or Thule) for that... I'd definitely try to get it used because of the cost. Not sure if anyone has any other creative ideas for this...
@b_1029 i was getting pretty bent putt of shape that i didn’t order the second seat attachment and infant extender seat bar when i got the stroller to convey to a double as they are now discontinued and you have to find on eBay or Amazon. However, DD will be almost 4 when the new baby arrives and will she really be in the stroller?!
@And846 yep, I'm having similar thoughts. DD will be 3.5 when he's born, so we're banking on the novelty of the kick board for short trips to the park 😂
@pajamstagrams we didn’t initially care who sat where and would put the baby in the front and the toddler in the back because the back sun visor broke, but the toddler would constantly poke at and “play” with the baby when she was trying to sleep, making her cry the entire walk. So we repaired the visor and did a switch to baby in back. We’re now back to bigger kid in back because the baby (now toddler) kicks the toddler (now preschooler) the entire time…so some flexibility can be nice, depending on the age difference and personalities of your kiddos.
@annashaf thankfully, DD is pretty chill. We'll see how she does with a sibling but she's not overly antagonistic with other kids. 🤞 I can always have her face me with our stroller since the seats go both ways, and then the kicking thing is a non issue...for the baby 😂 but I doubt she could kick far enough to hit me pushing it anyway.
@runninginva I bought a used double Bob with accessories for $250. Worth every single penny. Start posting ISOs in your local fb mom swap groups after the holidays—they usually go on sale as spring approaches ☺️
BTDT mamas, did you sleep with baby in your room in a swing/bassinet for a time before moving then to their own room/crib? Did you co-sleep? Did they go straight to the crib?
My goal for this baby is to move her to the crib/her own room ASAP bc I know just how bad the sleep deprivation got me both times before and never helped with the PPD either… but I just don’t see it being feasible with (hopefully) BFing. Le sigh…
@MrsLaLaBug DD was in our room in a bassinet until like 5 months. (Oops, probably had her in the halo too long)
DH and I had a system...he would wake her and change her, giving me an extra 5 min to sleep before he brought her back in our room for BF. Then I would hand her to him for bottle feeding while I pumped. (Had to do both for a while) Obviously our situation was unique because we had some pretty severe feeding issues, but you definitely could enlist YH to do dipe changes if he isn't already.
I don't think there's anything wrong with going straight to their own room, if that helps your mental health and gives you more sleep (absolutely would have made mine worse for many reasons, but everyone is different!)
I used a pack N play with the bassinet insert for both the first few months. My oldest we moved to her own room at 4 months just because we moved into a new house and the pedi recommended going straight to her own room rather than getting her used to our new room for a few more months and then switching her again to hers. My second stayed in my room until almost 7 months… I think my goal will be closer to 6 months this time but depends on how she’s doing with feedings at night. I also think I’m going to bring the rocking chair into my room this time instead of the living room to help minimize disturbance when we’re up feeding.
@tacosandtums I also just ended up cosleeping with DD until she was about 3 months old.
This time around I would like to get some kind of bassinet or something to have the baby in the room with me for the first little while. I just did a lot better having DD with me in the beginning than alone in her room.
I say my goal is to move her ASAP which is probably a little selfish on my part, but truth be told, both my other kids slept in our room until at least 3 months old and I had to go back to work. I think I’m just lamenting on how much I hate the zombie stage in the beginning. It’s. So. Hard.
My first slept in a bassinet in our room till 3 months old. When we moved her to the crib in her room, it was the best ever. She slept so much better because she couldn’t hear/smell me. For a bit I probably slept worse because I was checking the monitor all the time, but that went away!
I was hoping to do the same again this time… except we don’t have a room for this baby so…
last night I was literally scheming how I could transform my small walk in closet into a “room” (only with a pack n play inside)
Question: Not looking to start a war here- just curious if anyone is allowing themselves a small amount of wine in the 2nd tri? My midwife said a couple ounces is fine. (I would probably drink slowly and with food)
@brookejay06ni have in the past (I think I did with DD2 and DS - I had a small glass of prosseco at holiday celebrations with each), but I’m probably going to pass this time…I had cut so far back on alcohol pre pregnancy, that I have a feeling I’d be flat on my butt after 2 sips of I tried anything right now lol
@brookejay06 last pregnancy i had a small pour of red in a couple of times. I’m sure I’ll do that again at a wedding we are heading to in the new year.
@brookejay06 I had a small glass of champagne at our gender reveal when I was 14w4d! After reading the drinking chapter in Expecting Better by Emily Oster and asking my midwife I felt totally comfortable doing so.
