What My Pregnant Self Is Eating (November)

Pregnancy cravings- mine started up a couple days before I even got my positive test.

This past week I've had egg salad and  black olives & mushrooms on pizza. Those are things I usually would never even consider eating. What about everyone else? What is your pregnant self craving this month?

Re: What My Pregnant Self Is Eating (November)

  • I can't get enough salt, salty things don't taste salty enough and I need to add more salt. It's so weird, I've never had a salt craving before. With my 1st I craved red meat (burgers and steak) I was very anemic, with my second I craved Culver's onion rings. Now I'm all about the salt, which I'm sure is helping with all of this bloat. 😬
  • Loading the player...
  • Ritz crackers, and everything bland! A lot of carbs. I usually love flavours and spices but my stomach (and nose) just can't handle it right now.
  • @courtneyqdk Do you have morning sickness? I'm sorry, that's rough. Hasn't hit me yet, fortunately.
  • @courtneyqdk I read carbs as "crabs" at first and was like, dang! That's an unusual pregnancy craving to go along with bland food! :D
  • @thegeekymom I’ve heard that you crave salt in pregnancy to help retain more liquid (especially if you’re like me and you’re really sick and struggling with liquids)

I am craving cheese… which is not helpful since I’m lactose intolerant and refusing to eat cheese right now 🤣

I’m also on the verge of buying a slushee machine because the only way I can drink anything is if it’s half frozen

The only thing I consistently want and that tastes right is cheese - I can't tolerate dairy! !! I've been managing decently with the bits I've allowed, but this really isn't fair 😭
  • @tuxielove93 OH yes me too.. all the cheese. I've been eating the toddler's stash of string cheese and the sliced colby in the fridge. Gonna have to make a grocery run to get some Babybel. I even bought cottage cheese and that's usually a no-go for me.
  • LOL @L1C4gal no definitely not crab! 🤣

@stardustskies a little bit, I guess. No vomiring but I have this constanr sort of mild nausea and when I eat certain things it gets worse. Except I never know which things, so it takes me by surprise! I was the same way my first pregnancy so I'm not surprised, but it's a drag for sure!
  • My cravings aren't super strong yet, but cheese, Ruffles potato chips, and savory stuff in general have been my go-tos. Last pregnancy, I was very into mashed potatoes and orange juice lol.
    Pregnancy TickerSaveSave
  • Sriracha! I put it on everything, I can’t feel my mouth anymore…. I still can’t believe I’m pregnant again! Due Jul 14 but who knows I see my doc Dec 23 such a long wait!
  • All the bread, butter and jam on toast is the best thing I’ve ever tasted at the moment  :p
  • @binxybaby +1 for Ruffles potato chips! I pretty much downed a full bag over the past 24 hours (with some help from H, but not a ton...)

What I am NOT interested in eating: the giant vat of chicken fried rice I made yesterday with the intention of multi-day leftovers (face palm). Don't even know if I can blame this on pregnancy, since I often get this way with this particular meal...shouldn't have made it, but it's one of H's favorites! He's going to take it to work for lunches so hopefully I'll still like the delicious chicken casserole I have planned for our next dinner...until then, Cheerios it is...
  • @L1C4gal I have chicken aversions with all my pregnancies too. The family loved the chicken parm I made yesterday but I took one bite of chicken and spit it out.
  • I had a strong craving for pumpkin pie so I “tested” my recipe for thanksgiving this weekend and it definitely did not hit the spot like I thought it would. Even though DH and I are vaccinated, I still got covid back in September, symptoms were mild but I did lose my sense of taste and smell. Certain things just haven’t tasted the same since then and I guess I can add pumpkin pie to that list.
  • I’m having some yucky all day sickness so lots of carbs, saltine crackers, Melba toast and ginger chews.
When I can get my stomach settled I’m craving fruit, cucumber slices, olives and the other day just needed a crunchy Caesar salad so badly lol.
  • yes to cheese! We got deep dish pizza this weekend and it was perfect. I'm vegetarian but I've been craving chicken so badly.  If i had to eat meat, I would never choose chicken. My first pregnancy was red meat and orange juice. Now, I'm all about chicken and cheesy fried things. If I have things that are too sugary, it gives me a headache. it's so annoying.
  • I want nothing but spicy boneless wings. And eggs. I usually don’t care for eggs, but I’ve gotten pretty good at making omelets the past couple weeks.
  • I’ve been craving rice. I could just eat all the rice I can find. Tonight my DH is making chicken and rice casserole and it’s so nostalgic. So excited to eat 🤣

  • @ladykaty91 I weirdly also have a craving for eggs lately. I had a fried egg and some toast today. Definitely hit the spot.
    Pregnancy TickerSaveSave
  • Does anyone get peanut/nut aversion with pregnancy? I had it with my son. It hasn't hit yet, but I wonder if it will. I was nervous my son would get a peanut/nut allergy since I wasn't having it during pregnancy, but he ended up allergic to eggs. Go figure.
    Pregnancy TickerSaveSave
  • @ladykaty91 mmm spicy wings! I'm pretty sure I have an aversion to eggs. At least I did before even getting my BFP. DH made some (just egg whites) a while ago and I was just like... I don't want to eat this. It didn't taste bad so I don't know if the texture got to me or what. I guess I have had a general sense that nothing sounds appealing to eat.

Maybe I should go eat a pickle. Can't go wrong with those. Frankly I would be sad if I had an aversion to them. And now my mouth is watering thinking about the pickle juice. :yum:

  • @inthewoods23 I basically get an aversion to all things edible and can only eat an extremely narrow and ever changing small selection of food

Right now, fruit is life. Specifically, pink lady apples. They nearly cure my nausea atm

  • My cravings have been super memory based! Like I’ll think of something I haven’t had in a long time and then have to have it! Had to have greek potatoes and rice last week, made my husband make homemade sauce and lasagna (we both grew up with our Italian grandmothers) this weekend, and am going to make ‘sushi’ dip a recipe an Asian family I nannied for in my early 20s taught me! It has rice bottom layer and crab mixed with sriracha Mayo and sesame seeds on top eaten with seaweed snack squares🤤
  • I. Can’t. Stop. Craving. Cheese.
I’ve ordered a pizza in because I can’t take it anymore. I really hope this doesn’t backfire spectacularly

  • @tuxielove93 My son is mad at me because I splurged on the Babybel cheese which is like 50 cents for each one of those suckers, and I won't share with him. 😂 Sorry bud, Mommy gets the expensive cheese, you get store brand string cheese.
  • @stardustskies OMG my two year old just can’t get it. I can only eat very limited things and he has to have everything I have. Which, to be fair, I do normally share everything without question. But come on kid! And then he insists on drinking my cold water, and I can only drink it if it’s cold enough. I’m going out of my mind right now.

  • Orange juice! Fresh squeezed… I’ve been that person at restaurants asking if they fresh squeeze

”ummm maam we are an Italian restaurant”
  • Macaroni with diced tomatoes!!!
My hubby made everyone a lovely breakfast for dinner tonight tonight and I couldn't stomach even the thought. Good old macaroni with tomatoes to the rescue!!
  • For all my ladies who are craving eggs...apparently you're not supposed to have over easy, over medium, poached, or Deviled. Lame. I love dipping toast in runny yolks.
    Pregnancy TickerSaveSave
  • @binxybaby wait whatttttt?? Dippy eggs are my favorite!
  • @binxybaby Why not deviled? The yolk is cooked over hard. Also, I still do over medium occasionally even though I know I'm not supposed to.
  • Starbucks cranberry bliss bars are my mega cravings this week.
  • Chocolate. All the chocolate. And peaches which are really hard to find.
  • How obvious do you think it would be that I’m pregnant if I started eating spinach dip and tortilla chips at my desk? 🤣 I want it so bad right now!
  • @ladykaty91 - That sound like me pre pregnancy. Act like it’s normal. 😂
  • @ladykaty91 I don't think that sounds obvious at all. I say, eat the dip. It actually sounds really good right now. Yum!

Last time the heartburn got soooo bad. In the middle of the night it would wake me up and I would crave ice cold water. I usually kept my yeti next to the bed.
Whelp, last night I woke up craving ice water. That didn't help my insomnia. I'll have to get used to brining my yeti to bed with me again lol

  • @binxybaby right? runny eggs are the best.  it's one of my least favorite things about pregnancy.  they're technically "raw" or "undercooked" so susceptible to food borne illness. Lame!

I've been craving more savory/salty things and anything that is protein. I am very anti sweets right, which is sad since hubby bought me a nice cake for my birthday but i can't handle how sweet it is.

Nausea surprisingly hasn't hit yet, which does have me a little worried, but i'm thankful because when it does, everything sounds terrible!
  • I had Eggos for breakfast and Oreos dipped in peanut butter for lunch. Am I doing it right?  :D
  • Anyone listen to the Office Ladies podcast? I'm listening to the latest episode and all the talk about cheese balls makes me really want some cheese balls!!
