Re: What My Pregnant Self Is Eating (November)

  • @LJMoon6 I want to break my covid quarantine soooo bad to go out for a tub. I guess Cheetos would do, but the balls are way easier for snacking.

  • I saw someone on tiktok make butter noodles, obviously that’s all I’ve been able to think about since. I made some for dinner and took a bite while waiting on DH to finishing grilling and I may literally never eat anything other than butter noodles with Parmesan again. It hit my soul 🤤 it was so good lol
  • I I needed nachos.
  • @bearsandbeets7 ooohhh that sounds SO good! Maybe my craving is really just cheese. We had domino's pizza yesterday. I'm eating GF right now so I always get my own small pizza and well, I ate the whole thing no problem (not that I have a problem any other time lol). Went out for some grocery items today (like blocks if cheese) and in the store decided I wanted greasy pizza again so I bought a frozen pizza that is baking away in the oven as I type. And don't forget the tub of cheese balls! We'll see if I keep the tub on the kitchen island should I need the tiniest snack randomly during the day haha.

  • @binxybaby @stardustskies

I haven't heard of no deviled eggs either, and it seems unusual since they're made from hard boiled, which are fine. Maybe it's more like deviled eggs from a store or on a buffet line, where they might have a similar level of listeria risk as deli meat?  I would think homemade should be fine.

That said, while I know about the runny eggs thing, it's not a rule I follow particularly diligently. The salmonella risk from eggs is pretty low. You can eliminate it entirely by pasteurizing the raw eggs (while still in the shell) with a sous vide circulator.

  • What am I eating?  Everything in sight.

Literally SO hungry.  I’m not sure if it’s in my head or truly pregnancy related, because I’m barely 4 weeks today, so seems a little early for being this ravenous.

I’m trying to take care because I gained a lot with my first three and managed to keep the weight gain at bay with my fourth, and recovery was a lot easier.
  • I made avocado toast this morning 🤤🤤🤤

I might need to make this every morning!

  • @inthewoods23 is it still a craving if it's healthy? 🤣

I literally couldn't function the other day without pickles, and I didn't have any in the house!! I literally ran out to get them because I couldn't deal.

I'm also really suffering from these cheese and chocolate cravings considering I can't tolerate dairy 😭 I've been cheating because it makes me feel infinitely better in the moment (my cravings make me nauseous and satisfying them relieves it), but then I suffer for it later with guess what - worse nausea 😭
  • @paradise_8990 oh no! Is it a lactose thing?

I munched on pickles yesterday too. Unfortunately all we had was hamburger dill and then some bread and butter chips. What I really wanted were these garlic snack 'em pickles that vlassic makes that are chunks of pickle. The store I went to didn't have them! 😢

DH made me agree not to eat his bread and butter pickles lol.

  • @inthewoods23 it seems to be more of a protein intolerance, or at the very least I can very much NOT tolerate the lactase enzyme supplements that are supposed to help with lactose intolerance, haha.

Bahaha. Doesn't he know everything is the baby's now from here on in? Funny thing, my preferences and aversions change so quickly that reading your comment literally made me nauseous, despite my intense craving just two days ago!!
  • All I've been wanting is bland white carbs, noodles no thank you but pot noodle yes please! Same with pasta I don't want the freshly cooked homemade but if it comes in a packet with powdered flavouring nothing sounds better!
  • @paradise_8990 I am also lactose intolerant or something and I can’t stop craving cheese. Even my kids Kraft Mac and cheese just smells so amazing. But the pizza I tried last week did NOT go well so…. No dairy for me.

  • @tuxielove93 it's so brutal! I had a huge craving for KD last week and thank God we didn't have any because they would definitely have been a bad choice 🙈
  • @inthewoods23 In our house when I’m pregnant, all food is mine if I want it 😆
  • A lot of cheese. I've been loving cottage cheese with mango for breakfast but then in the afternoons, I have those sargento snack trays. Ate a plate of nachos for dinner yesterday too.
  • Atm it is trail mic with M&Ms. Lately, I can't stomach much (cheese and crackers is my go to) but Costco trail mix with M&Ms is hitting the spot for sure!

@stardustskies I don't know, but I am eating Deviled Eggs whether I'm supposed to or not! Take that, pregnancy!

I wonder if it's the mayo? Maybe they are saying no because it might be homemade mayo? Who knows.

@skilouise You can pasteurize things with a sous vide??? May have to try that.

What is with these cravings for cheese? Most of us seem to be craving cheese. Pregnancy is weird.

  • @binxybaby

Yep, here's a link for eggs:

    https://recipes.anovaculinary.com/recipe/pasteurized-eggs-68

With eggs pasteurized this way, you can make safe- for- pregnancy hollandaise, bernaise, homemade mayo, etc.

In fact, with sous vide you can cook a lot of foods to lower temperatures than would be safe through other methods. The FDA recommended temps for things like chicken, pork, etc, are the temps high enough to kill germs the instant the food reaches that temperature. But holding the food at a lower temperature for a longer period (i.e., pasteurization) will kill the germs too.  I'll cook bone in chicken to the high 140s, which is perfectly safe (and so juicy!) as long as it's held at the temperature for long enough.  The important part is making sure you have a good sous vide cookbook or other resource that tells you how long a particular food needs to be held at a certain temp to be safe.

  • My husband brought home chocolate salted caramels from Costco, my hero. Salted caramel Noosa yogurt  is my new favorite thing. I sit on the floor with the baby and we share my yogurt after her afternoon nap. I guess I still love salt. 😅
  • Ugh, I ate wayyyy too many jalepeno poppers tonight. 😋😥
  • I am up in the middle of the night because I woke up from being hungry! I am hungry so often now, but can only eat a little at a time. So I'm having some cereal. Last night when I got home from work I was like "I need a burger!" I'm vegan, so that meant an Impossible burger. And onion rings! My hubby was so sweet and ordered some takeout from a local brewpub. It was so good. That was definitely my first real craving of the pregnancy. I usually eat very healthy but really needed some salt and fat! haha
  • Last night, Taco Bell was promised, but my husband went and ran errands first before going and by time he got there they were closed because of holiday hours (which we should have guessed to begin with), but I was so disappointed!! Now the order I had in my head is all I can think about even though it’s Thanksgiving!🙃🌯
  • I am desperately craving a restaurant from our hometown that I haven’t had in years. We are going there to celebrate Christmas with DHs family in two weeks and it’s all I can think about. I’ve already told him to plan dinner there our first night. Lol
  • Homemade fruit slushies. All I want is juice to drink so I’ve been watering it down as much as I can tolerate and blending with ice so I’m not drinking 100oz of juice each day.

My appetite is cruddy during the day and I alternate between wanting sweet or salty stuff. Sometimes fruit if I want sweet. I want nothing to do with any veggies. At night I’m constantly hungry with a growling stomach. I pretty much have to snack on something all night long to not be sick or just go to bed early 🤪
  • I’ve been craving Chinese food so I bought my favorite stir fry kit, thinking it’d be a healthy way to satisfy the craving. NEVER AGAIN. I’ve had so much painful gas lately and eating a bunch of broccoli, cabbage and brussel sprouts made it so much worse 🤦🏼‍♀️
  • I have a hard-core craving for Haribo gummy bears. I had to buy a big pack on Black Friday so I had some by my side at all times lol
    Pregnancy TickerSaveSave
  • Today's craving is carrots and ranch veggie dip. so weird.

recently it has also been eating things like doritos, pretzels in pub cheese, coffee cake ..... or basically any switch between sweet and salty.  last week all i could drink was OJ, this week it's lemonade - which i think is at least easier to water down

I also definitly bought a jar of olives at the store last night, french toast sticks, and the frozen toaster pastry things. I cant remember what thy are called but apparently that's a thing I always thinks sounds good when I'm pregnant and would never buy any other time.  pregnancy is weird
  • @runnergirl2018 I am very into OJ this week! And celery dipped in hummus. Hydrating things like fruit are really yummy right now. Unfortunately certain snacks I had bought for myself are no longer appealing (a big container of energy bars, rice crackers, nuts). I get hungry often and if I don't eat I get a little nauseous. So I'm learning I need to have a snack on me AT ALL TIMES. 😆
  • Today I’m living on the frozen strawberry lemonade slushees from Salad and Go. At least I’m not dehydrated, right? 🤣

I was craving french fries last night -or really anything salty but that wasn't crunchy.  hubby almost went and got me some but i felt silly and then was sad he didn't still go. so i got some for lunch today  :p
