So my random thoughts as I'm taking a bath related to this board:
- Do we want to do a registry thread and/or baby shower thread? It seems like most of the active participants are STMs, so I'm not sure if there is interest. Any other thread ideas?
-Along the same lines... I bet we have a fair bit of lurkers that come on here and read what's going on without participating. Come out, say hello! We'd love to have you here! We don’t bite, I swear!! 😉.
I say this as I would love to have more activity on here but also because we will likely move to a private group (or Facebook or whatever) in the next few months and I don't want to let a bunch of randoms in that only started participating a week before the group is created.
@kgg2241 Totally agree! With my first I wrote in the intro thread but then was so sick that I only lurked for months...and then when I tried to participate again when I was feeling better I got totally shunned:/ But that was at the time there was a mass exit from here to different boards so I found an amazing group on the new board. With my second on here I made sure to participate often! Anyways, all that to say I hope the lurkers do start to participate!!! Maybe start a lurker thread? It might help people to feel more comfortable chiming in...?
@Panaceia A lurker thread is a good idea! I actually looked at my last BMB because they did one too haha. Also, hopefully that didn't come across wrong. I feel like I sound like the boss of this board 😬😅.
@kgg2241@Panaceia I know I've really sucked at participating. This pregnancy is super hard mentally on me vs my previous two. And the month of October is just... Rough.
One thread idea that I loved in my previous BMB (if I may make a suggestion) was a hobbies thread. So we could share pics of works in progress if you're crafty, or talking about recipes, or whatever you enjoy in your "free" time

Guys I feel like I’ve become a lurker at this point, so this is my official plea - please don’t leave me behind! Hoping in a few weeks my life feels more normal again and I’m back here like I was before
I was unaware we could go to a FB group later on! I guess it makes sense, but I never thought about that. Lol
As for baby shower thread, mildly interested because I never got one in either of my previous pregnancies for different reasons, namely with DS it was the very beginning of the pandemic and stay at home orders. As such, DH and I like the idea of having a shower as sort of a celebration, even if we don’t need as much for this baby. However, we are unsure how to go about it due to the ongoing pandemic so any ideas would be cool to see.
@gembud we won’t leave you behind! Give yourself some time to settle in to your new normal and we will be here when you have a moment or two to breathe.
@Panaceia the same thing happened to me when I was so sick with my first pregnancy - mostly lurked for so long I never really integrated into the group.
This is my first mom board, so I’m definitely a lurker 😅. Sometimes I get a little bit of courage and post. @kgg2241 a registry and baby shower thread sounds helpful. I am having trouble thinking about what I may need for next baby. @lurvleybunchococonuts I also love the hobby thread idea!
@gembud@lurvleybunchococonuts you two definitely aren't lurkers. I'm thinking more of the people who have never introed at all but will as soon as we want to move. I'm just trying to give a fair warning to them haha. I think it is super normal to go in ebbs and flows of activity on here for the most part.
@gembud@lurvleybunchococonuts You are definitely not lurkers and you are both dealing with bigger and more important things right now ❤ Sending so much love to both of you!
@faithmovesmountains the FB group is so much better. It's private, so people typically share more candidly and we can learn a lot more about each other. Plus, as much as i hate FB, it's so much easier to use lol.
@faithmovesmountains yes. Not sure how other groups do it but we essentially "elected" admins for the fb group, then each person who wanted to make the move messaged with a picture and their fb name. The admin would find them on fb and then add them to the group. We also made a spreadsheet of bump names and fb names so that people could reference in the beginning and remember who is who!
@morgantu@faithmovesmountains The FB group is so much easier! And it just feels more personal since you get to know people more. I’m looking forward to the transition because I really don’t like the Bump app.
@gembud y’all aren’t lurkers. 😄 You’re just dealing with *waves arms around* everything. Be good to you, we’ll be here.
Oh man, I had to go into the office today for a full day for the first time in a long time. I'm exhausted. We are transitioning to going back in the office from WFH and I'm dreading it. We are starting with one day a week and then will eventually move back to full time in the office. How did I have the energy to do this before Covid hit 😫.
Definitely think the private fb group is more user friendly. Still very active in my Feb18 group. Would love to eventually transition to that but comfortable sticking around here until closer to March.
This week has a LOT going on 1)Keep us in your thoughts today! We have a scan and MFM consult today. We're dealing with two antibody issues which bb boy has a 50% chance of being affected by so it's the start of a lot of monitoring. 2) I have an interview this afternoon and another tmrw AM 🙏🤞 they go well
3) my bb girl turns ONE tomorrow! 😭 We lit flying lanterns in remembrance of her stillborn twin this past Saturday which was beautiful, but tomorrow will still be increibly tough. 4) Saturday we have a funeral that MH and I are both dreading going to (extended family drama) for MHs great uncle who passed away

@lurvleybunchococonuts I'm sorry you are having to handle so much at once. You are a strong mama! Good luck at the interviews, and I have everything crossed for a great scan! Sending so much love to you for tomorrow. I will be thinking of you and your beautiful girls ❤ ❤❤
@lurvleybunchococonuts ohwow, you do have a lot going! Thinking of you and hoping for the best today, and good luck at your interviews this week!! Also, happy first birthday to your daughter!
Prob doesn’t belong in here but didn’t want to make a whole separate thread. What belly bands do we recommend? These 12 hours shifts on my feet are making me need one earlier on this go around.
@lurvleybunchococonuts wow, what a week! good luck with the scan and with the interviews! Keep us posted!
Random, but sharing an idea that I saw on Pinterest that we did for DS. We bought a fun 12-month outfit for him to wear. In addition to the monthly baby pics, we also put a pic of him in the 12-month outfit to show how he has grown over the year! I know this similarly done with having your kindergartner wearing a shirt that would fit him or her during their senior year of high school. I was thinking of doing the same with these twins. Should I buy them 1) same outfit/same color, 2) same outfit/different colors 3) similar style outfits/same color? For DS, his 12-month outfit was a button down shirt with vest and jeans.
@jennifer_m21 i say same outfit different colors. And what a cute idea!
@Nik102 a support tank does help with discomfort. I find that it was constantly rolling up and I had to readjust it a lot. I ended up buying a pair of maternity support biker shorts off amazon that were amazing. The last couple weeks I would sometimes wrap a 6” ace wrap around my hips to help but a support band probably would have been more effective haha
Random cute thing that happened: baby was kicking the other night, I was lying down and lifted my shirt. Hubby could see my belly move when the baby kicked! Oddly enough the kicks were not strong enough to feel with his hand, even though he could see them when his hand wasn't there.
I am forsure a lurker! But mainly bc this app is so not user friendly to me. I would love if there was a facebook group!! And for me I am a first time mom so a registry thread would be awesome!
Appointment... ehhh was unexpectedly expected? Like I knew the following would be a possibility and probable even, but I didn't expect this at the first scan. So they do a scan where if it is elevated could indicate babe is becoming anemic due to my antibodies. Today was the first of these scans. Baby's result was elevated. We go back TMRW to repeat the scan to see if it's truly elevated or if babe was just being ornery today. If it is elevated we go in Monday for a PUBS/IUT. PUBS is a test where they insert a needle into the umbilical cord and draw a small sample of blood to be tested immediately for hemoglobin/hematocrit. If those results indicate babe is truly anemic then while the needle is still in place they do an IUT. IUT is the treatment which is an intrauterine blood transfusion. We then continue to monitor and will potentially need to do the same treatment any time babe indicates he's becoming anemic.

@lurvleybunchococonuts I'm so sorry this is how the ultrasound went. I'm so glad that they are monitoring you and are prepared to do what needs to be done to keep baby safe. Thinking of you and hoping that tomorrow goes as well as possible ❤❤❤
I also feel like a lurker haha. This app is SO user unfriendly. Tagging people for replies is frustrating, and I never have gotten a notification so I never know if anyone replies, so it's hard to have a Convo. And I definitely find it harder to check every thread obsessively this time around (working and a 2 year old, as opposed to bed rest and no kiddo to keep alive haha).
I keep trying though! I read, and try to keep up with what's going on with people, but replying properly is so frustrating...it never tags the person I am trying to haha
lurvleybunchococonuts I'm sorry you have to get this test, but I'm glad they're so on top of it. It sounds like there's a solid plan for how to take good care of baby in case he does become anemic. But all of the hugs, I know it must be so scary to go through this on top of everything else. Congratulations on the interview!
+1 for feeling like a lurker. Last time around I had so much time to think about my pregnancy and nothing but my pregnancy, this time I'm working more than full time and chasing around a toddler too. And I swear the bump app has gotten even buggier and more unpleasant to deal with than it was 3 years ago. I have a theory that the bump people actually low key want these groups to be gone, and they're wearing us down by making the experience harder and harder to deal with.
@Panaceia the fact that tmrw is the twins birthday and we will have to be at the hospital where they were delivered one year later is 😩😬 too. Like last place we wanted to be this year.

@lurvleybunchococonuts aw that is so hard 😭. I am so sorry that is where you have to be on their birthday. I'm sorry you have to go through all of this. Thinking of you!
Re: lurkers...Okay I did not mean to start anything or make anyone feel bad 😬. I was truly thinking about lurkers that read along but have never posted or only introed. I don't consider anyone in this thread a lurker at all. I go through phases of activity too and I think we can all understand that life gets busy.
Totally agree with @kgg2241 that no one here is a lurker! I only have so much time to post because I'm off work...no way I'd be able to keep up if I was parenting AND working right now!!!
@Panaceia Similar story here, except I’m just a stay at home mom for now anyway because it works out cheaper than childcare costs for DS. I kind of hope it continues to work out that way for a while, because he’s already growing so fast, I don’t want to miss little moments.
I mainly post while he’s eating something he can manage with little/no assistance, sleeping, or playing independently.
Update: so babes MCA was elevated again yesterday. So got to go for a COVID test today. Then go in early on Monday for another scan. If still elevated (likely) we have the PUBS/IUT scheduled for 11:45am. It's considered outpatient but we'll be at the hospital all day most likely.
