***TW*** Spotting/Bleeding/Threatened Loss Support Thread

This thread is for support and questions around spotting/bleeding.

❤️

Conversations surrounding these issues can be discussed here freely. The TW in the title applies for the whole thread. Please beware of reading ahead if you think you might be triggered by conversations about spotting/bleeding.

Finally, remember that most of us are not medical professionals, and even if we were, it's always best to call/visit your doctor with questions or concerns. Feel free to ask questions and voice concerns, but please do not expect anyone here to be able to offer you anything but support. The most important thing to do is to call your doctor. They can offer answers; we can offer support. 3

Re: ***TW*** Spotting/Bleeding/Threatened Loss Support Thread

  • Hello ladies. I spoke to a nurse who was optimistic and went for blood work this morning. But I feel like I’ve lost it. I’m still bleeding and took another test this morning. It was so faint it looked like an evap line. I’m planning on lurking here a few more days until my blood results come back from today and the next draw but I’m not optimistic. I’m wishing you all nothing but the best of luck and a happy and healthy 9 months and beyond!! 💕💕

  • @paytonpedro so so sorry ❤️ Lots of love your way
  • So for a full week I had positive tests, then yesterday I started bleeding. Started as spotting then turned heavier. Tests were still positive. Blead heavy through the night now this AM woke up with a really bad headache took another test and it is very faintly positive. Lighter than it has been. Did I just have a miscarriage or chemical pregnancy? Do I need to be concerned about ectopic? I currently don't have medical insurance as I'm in-between jobs. This pregnancy was not planned. I'm a little confused and don't know what to think right now.
  • @knottie I’m so sorry. This is what happened to me (as you can read above) except mine started with a gush of blood out of nowhere. The second day of bleeding my pregnancy test was basically negative and I had a miscarriage. You can track it down with pregnancy tests but should really have blood work done to be sure. Although to be completely honest I knew in my heart what was happening while it was happening and the blood work was just extra reassuring I felt. By the time I got it done it was literally 5. So they didn’t even do a second to track it down.
  • I'm so sorry you went through this too :( how long did the bleeding last?

I bled heavily for 3 days, full flow period like +clots. And I’m still spotting, for uh like the 3rd or 4th day. But it seems to be winding up. My doctor also told me no sex for a week after bleeding because of risk of infection and to use pads, not tampons.
  • Knottie- I'm so sorry you are going through this.  If you are able to swing going to the doctor, they can do beta blood tests to track your HCG. It is possible it is something like a subchroionic hematoma, but it could also be a miscarriage, especially if your tests are getting lighter. I'm so sorry. I wish I had better advice for you. ❤️
  • I read about subchronionic hematomas but considering my tests are getting lighter I'm thinking it's likely a miscarriage. If it was anything else the tests would stay positive and get darker right?
  • Knottie- I'm so sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately if your tests are getting lighter then it's likely a miscarriage. There shouldn't be any risk of ectopic if your tests are already lightening. I usually call my doctor and get betas done just to track back to 0 so you know for sure what's going on. Also, I second what was said above, no tampons only pads, and avoid sex (and my doctor says no swimming) until the bleeding completely stops. Depending how far along you were you might find the bleeding lasts a while. I'm so sorry. I know how hard this can be ❤
  • @knottie I am sorry you’re going through this. Most likely you are miscarrying, a doctor may call it a chemical pregnancy or blighted ovum. Blood work is always recommended to make sure your hcg level goes back down to non-pregnant levels (<5). Is there a women’s clinic or pregnancy counseling center nearby that you could go to? It’s probably best you see a provider, but if you have absolutely no option then you can always order hcg tests for yourself through online platforms like Quest laboratories or Walk-In Labs.
  • I'm spotting brown. Crap. My only solace is maybe this is breakthrough bleeding...since af would have been here a day or 2 ago...but I'm not feeling super hopeful. Crap. I've never had 3 losses in a row. I was really hoping this one would stick.
  • @Panaceia I’m sorry you’re going through this. Could absolutely be breakthrough bleeding, but I know that’s little comfort when you’re in the waiting game. I’m thinking of you.

     Edit: hit send too soon.

@Panaceia I'm sorry, fingers crossed that it's just a little breakthrough bleeding. Thinking of you.  <3

  • @rachelredhead Thank you. If course my doctor is away today. I left a message with the triage nurse asking for a requisition for repeat beta draws so hopefully they will do that and I can get my levels checked this week so I know for sure. My tests have been progressing crazily well so I'm hoping this is just a bit of nothing...but only time will tell:/ Serves me right for getting excited about this and for feeling comfortable.
  • Still hoping it's implantation bleeding...since  only 12dpo today.
  • @Panaceia FX it's nothing and that you can get your levels checked this week!

  • @Panaceia could definitely be implantation bleeding. Don’t beat yourself up for feeling comfy and being excited, those are natural reactions to happy news. I hope the betas provide reassurance soon!
  • @Panaceia I'm so sorry. I hope that the triage nurse gets back to you soon and you can get your levels checked. Crossing my fingers so hard for you. <3

@Panaceia I am thinking about you, and fingers crossed that it’s absolutely nothing to worry about and that everything is fine!! ❤️

@panaceia, I had two days of unexplained brown spotting (it looked like the kind of brown you'd get from the tail end of a period) when I was 6w, and then it disappeared as quickly as it came on. I'm currently 13w2d and just had a normal NT scan. Sometimes it could be a bit of old blood that was trapped in the uterus, or an irritated, sensitive cervix. Praying for you and sending you good vibes.

Hope you get some answers today, keep us posted. Sorry you are going through this.

@Panaceia keeping you in my thoughts ❤️ and keeping everything crossed is just implantation/breakthrough bleeding.
  • @Panaceia sending you all of my positive thoughts  <3
  • @Panaceia I’m thinking of you, I really hope all turns out to be ok. Around this stage I had brown spotting on and off with my son, and it turned out to only be implantation bleeding (which can keep happening for weeks, my midwife explained). I really hope it turns out the same for you
  • @Panaceia thinking of you. Spotting is scary regardless of normality. Wishing you a dark test and lots of symptoms 🙂
