Re: April 2021 FET

  • We graduated from the fertility clinic minus two more blood draws the 14th and 21st.  I have been SO TIRED! That is great! It will be weird to discharge. My last ultrasound was Tuesday... I am now 9 weeks and 2 days.. I know we are on the same time line. I would love to stay in touch. Is this your first child? This is ours by fertility we have 3 but all adopted. So nervous as things move along.. just so ready to get out of the first trimester and in the safer zone.... Anxiously waiting on June 30th.

  • @sheenaco @sandeepa Congratulations to you both, ladies!  I'm glad to see you are both doing well!  We had our repeat FET at the end of May, and thankfully, it worked! :)

    Please feel free to join me and the other ladies over on the Pregnant After Infertility board.  There is an "All Trimester Check-in" where the pregnant IVF mamas can stay connected! <3 Hope to see you both there, so you can get to know some other ladies who have been through the same thing.
  • @BusinessWife Congratulations!! 🎉  I am so happy for you! I will look up the pregnant after infertility board, thanks for the lead on it!

    @sheenaco that’s great I’m so glad you’ve already graduated! I’m off the estrace pills completely now and next week will be the last of my progesterone oil shots. I did get back on the baby aspirin today (got off it while the hematoma was resolving). I completely relate on the eagerness to exit the first trimester, can’t wait until the end of June! We do have 3 embryos remaining on ice. Yes, this will be our first baby, with each ultrasound it feels more and more real.

    @sandeepa @sheenaco so happy for u girls!!!, happy everything is looking good, my clinic discharged me this passed tuesday and i have my first ob appointment on Friday where I found out i have a 4cm fibroid 😰…dr says he isnt worried about it tho, i feel the hormones contributed to it. I stopped estrace yesterday right at 8 weeks. And i stop progesterone on the 18th, im so with u girls that the end of june cant come faster so we are closer to the safer zone and closer to having our babies 😬😬

    @BusinessWife so so so Happy For you..Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️..have u had a scan yet?…any symptoms ?
  • Thank you! @vl__2019 My first scan is scheduled for Friday... So far not too many symptoms to speak of, but I'm exhausted.  Like extra exhausted.  Starting to get antsy for Friday already, that's for sure! lol
  • @BusinessWife definitely wat ive been feeling…always tired out of everything , im antsy for every scan too… now im with ob its going to b every 4 weeks and not every week, and i dnt think at every appointment do they scan u.😩
  • @vl__2019. Yes, it's definitely an adjustment coming from the IF world... But you'll be okay! (((Hugs)))
  • I am worried as we have our first ob appointment Friday as well! It will be our 10 week appointment.. and no scan. The scans are very reassuring. I get anxious because my nausea went away and less symptoms. I was told my next scan wont be for 13 weeks and then 20. Today is our last day of estrace patches... then 20th is last day for progesterone shots and estragon pills.. What am I going to do with my time and my butt not hurting all the time?!

    @BusinessWife congrats for it working!

  • @sheenaco Lol gurrl you have a PhD, a wedding and 3 (or 4?) kids on your hands, I’m sure you have plenty to do with your time! Are you able to see a maternal fetal specialist- they may see you more often. That sounds pretty infrequent but maybe standard for most pregnancies - doesn’t having an IVf pregnancy make you high risk, I would think you could go to a maternal fetal specialist to get checked more often.
    Tomo I have my first trimester prenatal testing, we are at week 10 and 5 days.
  • Yes we do! But still enough time to be anxious.. Yes but insurance doesnt pay and it is $550 an appointment! I do have diabetes but it still isnt counting me as high risk because it is controlled. What are they doing for the first trimester prenatal testing? We are at 10 weeks 1 days. I really want to stay in contact with you since we are 4 days apart. I got nervous because my nausea went away but still having sore boobs bloated and cravings... I just get worried not feeling pregnant enough

  • Do I stop progesterone at 10 weeks which is Friday, but im scared to just stop cold turkey… i hate this big needle but at the same time i feel this is helping my anxiety lol..any advice?
  • I stopped my estrogen patches... and then stop the progesterone and estrace pills Sunday morning. Then monday go in for my lab work. On the 11th had my first apt with my new OBGYN with a physical but no ultrasound... So was bummed. Go in next Friday the 25th for our 12 week ultrasound and plan to tell my family the 27th at dinner!!! We are nervous and hope the ultrasound goes well. We had a month of weaning the 3 medications before discontinuing and blood draw last monday and this monday. Last monday I was told I didnt need to increase again so that was hopeful but the numbers did decrease.

    @sandeepa how are you doing?

  • @vl__2019 I hear you! I was scared to stop cold turkey too. My acupuncturist who works with a lot of infertility patients shared that some of her patients have experienced some cramping or spotting when they stopped cold turkey, so she did advise that I taper it off over a few days. Luckily my RE was fine with that and I had enough left to do that so I tapered it off over 4 days. I had some light cramping the first day I discontinued the progesterone but I cannot say for sure that it was because of that. I feel otherwise my body has adjusted fine to not having the progesterone anymore, and more importantly the baby is fine too! I hope it all goes smoothly for you!
    @sheenaco Such a bummer that insurance won’t cover a maternal fetal specialist! Yeah that’s pretty steep for a consultation. I hear you on the symptoms playing hide and seek- it’s been fairly quiet in symptoms for a few weeks with the exception of aversions. Iv had a tough time eating meat and most veggies. Iv only been wanting fruit. Strangely enough iv been noticing an uptick in nausea the last couple of days and tomo i will be 12 weeks. I wasn’t thinking I’d feel much more of that. I’m so excited for your announcement plans- sending good vibes for your ultrasound next week! My parents are visiting over 4th July and I haven’t told them I’m pregnant yet. My husband says I am showing now and he doesn’t think I can pass it off as belly bloat 😆 which was my plan. I’m going to dig out my roomiest of clothes for their visit. You never know though, I feel like my mom may guess, she’s a sharp one.
    Our prenatal screen results came in and we are in the clear of the chromosomal abnormalities that our baby was tested for. We had an NT scan today and feeling pretty positive about that as well since Down syndrome was ruled out in the PGS testing as well as the prenatal screen. So ready for the end of the first trimester!! I am transferring care from my regular Ob to a maternal fetal specialist in early July 🤞🏽 Hoping I will like my new doctor.

  • @sandeepa I thought about doing acupuncture but worried about starting now 11 weeks pregnant. We are telling the family Sunday 27th and getting married Sept 26th so lots going on! But ready for it to quiet down. I am having some nausea now off and on and food aversions. Or.. food I wanted such as an onion blossom! ha! That is interesting you have noticed an increase in nausea as well and I will be 12 weeks Wednesday. Next Friday the 25th we have our NT scan.  When are you waiting to tell them?

    Awesome for the prenatal screens. We passed on the additional blood work since we did the IVF route and already had the chromosome testing. It is odd that yours pays for the maternal fetal dr and ours dont.

It will be wild that the next one will be at 20 weeks following this one but least I will be out of the 1st trimester.... Just worried since I feel fairly normal besides being bloated some off on nausea.. but nothing bad.

  • So this morning at 3:30am I felt like I urinated myself and went to the bathroom and was tons of blood. Upon going to the bathroom I passed two huge blood clots (or what I thought was a blood clot) red squishy glistening almost like slime looking... but the size of a lime/lemon. I continued to bleed but lighter until 7:30/8am...but no pain. My fiancée called the dr at 8:30 when they opened to see what to do. They said to go to the ER which I have awful veins and hate IVS. I had my scheduled NT ultrasound at 11:30am but we had to go to two clinics one for the ultrasound and then meet with our dr at 1:30pm. I was terrified and told  by the tech that oh we cant tell you anything I get licensed but can you least say if theres a heartbeat etc.. guess we would see if there was nothing.
    So we get the ultrasound and shocked to see the baby on the screen along with the heartbeat walking in there expecting the worse. our last ultrasound was 8 weeks 5 days. We saw the nose...they measured the neck and saw arms and legs flailing around! So when we met with our dr at 1:30pm she states it was a subchorionic hemorrhage so have to have no sex tampons anything that goes in the vagina plus I may continue to bleed. It does increase miscarriage but today was a really emotional day! Anyone else had this and the baby was okay?

  • *lurking*

    @sheenaco I’m awfully sorry that you had that big scare with that bleeding, but I’m glad to know that you and the baby are fine. I haven’t had this experience before but I’d just want to wish you a pleasant pregnancy, with no more episodes like this, take care and stay safe 🙂
  • @sheenaco take heart, this exact same thing happened to me at 7 weeks. Did they tell you how big your subchorionic hematoma is? Since mine happened when I was still with my RE, I had his advise on the episode. I had similar clots too- mine was slimy but hard, almost like muscle and the bleeding did get lighter after the bigger clots were passed, I did have mild pain. Whatever form it takes, it’s pretty horrifying and I’m so sorry you had to endure this. On the bright side, your baby is doing absolutely fine and you are at week 12. Here on out the risk of miscarriage is pretty low. I remember asking my RE if the risk of miscarriage was higher with the hematoma and he did say that it was an outdated notion and anyone keeping up with the latest research says there is not a proven correlation between subchorionic hematoma and miscarriage. Of course I don’t know the facts for myself and just had to trust the RE but this gave me reason for hope. I will say that a friend who also went through IVF had a subchorionic hematoma at week 12 and she had to be on bed rest for a few weeks, she has a healthy 2 yr old from the same pregnancy. I stayed in bed for 3 days after my incident to help stall the bleeding which was very light but I was so scared- at the end of 3 days bed rest I didn’t have anymore bleeding. The RE also told me to stay off my feet and I feel like it helped significantly. If you can stay off your feet, please do. If you have started Kegel exercises, you may want to check with your Ob if you should pause those as well. I started kegels the week after the bleed and started seeing a little blood again so I stopped and haven’t resumed since. I am thinking of starting slowly around week 14. Take heart and have hope, I’ll be thinking of you in my prayers. 💛
  • @sandeepa No they just told me not to have sex or use tampons because it is right around the opening... but didnt say a size maybe because it already went away? It was terrifying because it happened at work too and just the unknown. Now at 13 weeks told my family on sunday and they are thrilled as this is my first pregnancy. She did tell me it was a higher risk but the stated above was the only thing she said to do different. I was worried they were going to put me on bedrest and I work. I have been trying to take it easier. We are going to a game and festival on Sunday for 4th July.

    Glad to hear the hematoma bleeding hasn’t continued. When do you see your doctor next? Are you starting to feel any flutters or kicks? I felt like I did a few times this week mostly at the end of the day, but they were short lived. Can’t wait to feel this with more clarity!
  • Congrats!!! We are 15 weeks on Wednesday. I am curious as to when I will be able to feel movement. I actually am bleeding just not heavy daily- but looks like old blood. See the dr for just a check in on the 24th next ultrasound August 18th. I felt like I felt a couple flutters but cant tell...

  • Okay that sounds similar to what I had, I had old blood for almost 4 weeks after they discovered the hematoma. I’m hoping the best for your check in - that’s quite a ways to wait until August 24th for an ultrasound.
    How do you feel about the covid vaccine? The vaccine was not available to me before my transfer so I wanted to wait until the second trimester. I’m hoping to get my first Pfizer dose this weekend. Hoping I won’t have side effects etc.
  • Oh that is good know! I feel like the bleeding wont ever stop.
    I work at the hospital so had the COVID shot since Feb/March. I had a pretty bad fever for 4 days with the second one but would do it again. Had the Moderna shot. It feels like forever- when is your next ultrasound? Next is 5 weeks from Tuesday- but will be exciting so many things will be further along

  • @sheenaco let me know how it goes! Our last ultrasound was at week 14. I’m at week 17 now and the next one won’t be until week 20. We did hear the baby’s heartbeat last week though and it was normal but not being able to see it is quite a bit harder. My next ultrasound will be Aug 17th- I was told this will be the anatomy scan. Hoping our babies are doing well.
    Have you had any change in status as far as bleeding or discharge is concerned?
    Around week 16 I started to have joint pains and just achy feet - I was told all these pains are normal. For a couple of days Iv felt like my heart rate is up and down a little. Not sure what to make of it.
  • @sandeepa I had an appointment last week heard the heartbeat which is reassuring! It was 150. I am 17 weeks on Wednesday- we are couple of days apart. We have our next one week 20 as well. Do you know if its a boy or girl? We dont know but my partner he wants to know at the 20 week ultrasound. I was a girl as we have 2 boys at home, and he doesnt care. He said oh if have a girl we will have to do it again so I can have another buddy, and he said if we have a boy we need to try again for a girl. The bleeding was continuing but it was old blood- that stopped couple of days ago- luckily.

    I feel huge now this week! I am starting to show- are you? I feel like I ate a watermelon :smiley: my partner states he knows I am showing. I have not told work yet- cant wait to feel that baby.

  • @sheenaco Lol. Yes I’m definitely showing. More in some clothes than others. In some clothes it just looks like I’ve got belly fat 🤦‍♀️. Everything feels tight and I certainly feel the extra girth while bending over or doing stuff on the floor leaning forward. After the days food & water it’s all quite tight! :)

     I started using a belly butter for my belly and breasts a while ago but this week Iv been feeling them get a little itchy so they’re probably getting to that point where stretch marks start to show. I know that some folks start to see it around week 20 so I’ll be keeping an eye and slathering on that moisturizer.

    We chose not to find out the gender. I think we are both keen to know but we may hold out and just wait. At the anatomy scan they will ask us to close our eyes when they’re scanning the baby’s privates, my husband says he will close one eye. We both think it maybe a girl. I’m at week 18 today and still haven’t felt kicking. I think I felt a distinct kick at week 15 or 16 and it’s been quiet since so I am a little anxious to feel it and have an ultrasound to check on the baby.
  • @sandeepa We originally was going to wait but then decided to find out so we can announce it at the wedding during our vows! I had to go up a size in scrubs, because I am not telling work until after my 20 week ultrasound on August 18th. I notice it after eating as well- the top of my stomach is really hard all the time.

    Awe me partner has been putting belly button on my stomach and breasts daily. I have not felt a kick. My partner will touch my stomach and act like the baby is kicking even though not yet. When is your 20 week ultrasound? On July 23rd I did hear the heartbeat at my doctors apt- its at 150.

    I cracked up when I read you guys are doing a home remodel over on top of everything you already have going haha. It’s like 2021 is the year you are catching up on the last 5years 😆
    We are not doing a nursery right now- I know they say it’s natural to nest in the second trimester but we live in LA in a 2 bedroom home and my mom is going to come stay with us for a bit when I return to work after my maternity leave is up. Probably will do a nursery when the baby is 6-9 months old. We are renovating a quaint hobby shed we have in our yard to make it an extra bedroom in the event we have folks visiting.
    In a certain sense Iv been okay, I think the baby is fine. I feel a few faint flutters and now that I feel those I think the movements I felt before were not flutters at all probably just air lol. A doula friend of mine told me that the earlier movements are just above the pubic bone and with time they move closer to the mid belly region. Whatever I’m feeling is really faint. I feel it sometimes and then don’t feel anything for long periods. Iv caught a terrible cold and it feels 5times worse than it probably would have without a pregnancy. Can’t wait to feel better again and just hoping the baby won’t be affected by all of this.
  • Thank you luckily he is out of the hospital.
    Ya why not! Just get everything done- want to buy a larger farm.
    Ah that makes sense- that will be nice. LA is expensive we are outside of Denver.

    Our anatomy scan went well, our baby is doing fine. They asked us to come back in 3 weeks so can they can do a fetal echo- they said it’s routine for them to do a heart check on ivf babies at 22-23 weeks so far everything looks good. Our baby continues to be active and quite wriggley. Today my husband was talking to it and he felt a tiny kick in response. So exciting! 💛
  • We have our echo coming up next month, and we are on to the monthly ultrasounds! We told our babysitter i told my day job and telling my night job on Friday. Are you getting a bump? Are you feeling the movement from the baby? I feel like I feel things but dont know if its the baby? My partner has not felt anything.

  • @sheenaco that’s so exciting! The flutters make it feel so real. Yes we are definitely feeling the flutters and now some distinct kicks as well- not as often but usually some pronounced ones once or twice a day. The baby has started to respond to my husbands voice - he talks to it just before bedtime and it responds by kicking.

    We have our fetal echo coming up on Tuesday and then another appt the following Tuesday at week 24. Physically Iv been so much more tired than the first trimester. I developed carpel tunnel in my wrists and fingers and plantar fasciitis in the heels of my feet. There was a little pregnancy hernia bump on my belly 2 weeks ago but I don’t see it anymore, hopefully it’s gone. The doctor said that all of this is normal and so I just have to deal with it. Glad for this long weekend - hubby and I are purging and getting rid of a bunch of stuff so we can start to nest. Have you started to buy things for the baby? We just got a bigger vehicle - our sedans won’t cut it with 2 big dogs and a baby.
  • @sandeepa The flutters do make it real, before it easier to ignore. I do feel them occasionally then get worried when I dont. That is SO cute he talks to it. Oh we have our echo next week. Ouch! Yes we did buy baby stuff, we are still doing the house remodel so switching rooms around in the house. Still need to get nursey furniture.
