*TW* Spotting/Bleeding/Threatened Loss Support Thread

I have seen some other BMBs include this type of support thread, so I thought I would add it here for us too. (Stolen from Dec 21)

This thread is to support anyone experiencing spotting and/or bleeding. If you do experience a loss, you are still welcome to create your own post if you'd like-don't feel obligated to post in here.

Conversations surrounding these issues can be discussed here freely. The TW in the title applies for the whole thread. Please beware of reading ahead if you think you might be triggered by conversations about spotting/bleeding.

Finally, remember that most of us are not medical professionals, and even if we were, it's always best to call/visit your doctor with questions or concerns. Feel free to ask questions and voice concerns, but please do not expect anyone here to be able to offer you anything but support. The most important thing to do is to call your doctor. They can offer answers; we can offer support.

Re: *TW* Spotting/Bleeding/Threatened Loss Support Thread

  • Selfishly started this for myself this morning, and I hope that no one else needs it anytime soon! It was getting lonely having no one else to share this with besides DH.

I started spotting/cramping Saturday night, and thought it was maybe due to my workout being too intense on Friday, but I'm not so sure anymore. Was bouncing between brown and red spotting until last night, and now it's mostly red and not really "spotting" anymore (but not quite heavy bleeding, and no where close to my menstrual bleeding levels, which are quite heavy). Will call my doctor when they open soon, but I just don't feel very optimistic at this point (I'd rather go in with low expectations). Haven't had bad cramps or heavy bleeding yet, so I suppose that's not a terrible sign, but I still feel like it's coming. My scheduled appointment is next week, and I hope they don't make me wait until then to be seen. I didn't have this with DD so it's very new and unwanted territory for me.

  • @pajamstagrams Oh no. Fingers crossed your doctor can see you soon and that it's nothing. Sending good vibes your way.
  • Fingers crossed. Sending hugs and prayers your way! Hope your doc can get you in before next week!
  • @pajamstagrams hopefully they can get you in and it's nothing major! With my second, I had an SCH and freaked out when I bled but it wasn't anything overly concerning, so there are other things it could be. Positive vibes coming your way.
  • Update: my OB just wants me to wait it out for now, but he bumped up my appointment to Friday morning. Also doing another HCG/progesterone blood test this afternoon.

TMI but maybe it will help someone else, but the nurse told me even my mucusy blood could be considered normal. And since I'm not currently filling up a pad or having period bleeding or bad cramps that's "good" (or better, I suppose).
  • I had spotting throughout week 4. It scared me and my doctor assured me it was completely normal, especially in first trimester. It eventually stopped on its own. Make sure your body is getting rest! That's good that he bumped your appointment up till Friday  and that you get to do an HCG test today!
  • @pajamstagrams sending lots of sticky baby vibes your way! I hope that the nurse is right and what you're experiencing is "normal." Fingers crossed for good HCG numbers today and a positive appointment on Friday!

  • @pajamstagrams oh no, that's so scary. I'll be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed that it's nothing too concerning after all.
  • @pajamstagrams, any updates? Did you get your HCG levels back yet? Thinking of you!

  • @magalina_h no, no updates. Spotting (more like a really really light period) is still ongoing, not a whole lot of changes. They told me 24-48 hours for labs, but I've had those 2 tests run before by another Dr and it was more like 4 days, since I think the progesterone is run in a different state so it takes longer. 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, we'll see when they come back.  Hopefully before my appointment Friday, would love to just know ahead of time if HCG is too low, that way I don't have to find out in person, even if he definitely has already seen me cry/very upset since DD's post birth experience was...not ideal. I think DH can still come Friday so that will be good, no matter the outcome.

  • @pajamstagrams Happy to hear it hasn't gotten worse. I'm gonna keep thinking of you and sending optimistic vibes your way.  <3
  • @pajamstagrams I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and sending you good vibes!
  • @pajamstagrams I'm glad it hasn't gotten worse.  I'm pretty sure I spotted early with DS.  (It's so long ago now, I'm not sure if I'm remembering clearly).  Fingers crossed for you!

  • @pajamstagrams Oh my gosh...glad that it's nothing too serious (I imagine they have to monitor you for the SCH) but amazing that you were able to hear the heartbeat and everything else looks great! Such great news!!
  • @pajamstagrams Oh wow, what great news! I'm so, so happy to hear that!
  • @pajamstagrams So happy for you!! What a great feeling expecting a loss, but then to be completely relieved! Hoping things continue to go well for you!!
  • @pajamstagrams This made my day! I am so happy for you!
  • @pajamstagrams this is the best thing I've read/heard all day! I'm so happy and relieved for you!!

  • Congratulations
  • I started spotting brown this morning, so I’m thoroughly freaked out. I have my first appointment on Wednesday anyway so I’m going to monitor it this weekend and hopefully it will stop or the doctor can get me in on Monday.

  • I know bleeding can be very scary, but it does not always mean a miscarriage. When I wa speech any with my son I had bright red bleeding for several days at 6-7 weeks. It was enough to need a pad. It ended up being low progesterone. Once I started progesterone supplements I went on to have a healthy pregnancy. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t monitor it but don’t immediately freak out. I remnant when I started breeding I laid in bed and sobbed for hours.

@fifilala516 sorry to hear this, hope everything is ok.
  • @fifilala516 Praying for you! How are you this morning?
  • @firewife2021 Thanks for checking in. It seems to have tapered off (knock wood) and I haven't had any spotting since yesterday afternoon, when it was just more like brown discharge. I still temp and my BBT has remained in the same range it has been, so I think that's a good sign. I decided not to call the doctor and just wait until Wednesday, which can't come soon enough! Thank you for the good thoughts!

Thank you! Yes, knock wood, everything looked okay - it's still very early so I go back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound and hopefully we will be progressing along swimmingly. <3
  • I woke up to some spotting this morning- i am 6
weeks - we say the baby and heartbeat! I called the dr and they said it was irritation for an applicator but im still upset 😭
  • @relizabethp Oh no, I know how upsetting this can be. Monitor it and hopefully it will go away - if the doctor isn't concerned right now, try to follow their lead (I know it's tough). Sending you good vibes. xx
  • Has anyone spotted off and on for a couple days and been ok?
  • @relizabethp with my past 2 pregnancies i did. the first time freaked me out. it was right around the time i would have gotten my period again (like 8.5 weeks?) and it happened again with my second around the same time i would have gotten my period. as long as it’s spotting and light or even brown i think it’s ok! if i wasn’t pregnant now i’d be getting my period in the next few days, so i’m assuming i’ll spot again! still might freak me out but it’s normal for some people!
  • My spotting has increased to bleeding- has this happened to anyone else and it turned out ok? Going in for a u/s later today
  • @relizabethp sending positive vibes your way.
  • @relizabethp Thinking of you and sending you positive vibes...are you cramping? It could be an SCH.
  • @relizabethp I had full blown bleeding (like needed a pad and small clots) with my last pregnancy and he’s now 10 months old. I had low progesterone and it resolved once I started progesterone supplements until 16 weeks I think it was. I also know many people on my last BMB who had SCH’s and had heavy bleeding and now have healthy babies. Bleeding is not always the end of the road.
  • I spoke with a nurse and she says it sounds common for endometrian supplements- but i am going in at 1 for an u/s
  • @relizabethp Keeping my fingers crossed for you today!  <3
