  • @DoubleUp8, yay! Great news!

  • @DoubleUp8 Yay! And yes 3 lbs sounds so big already, can’t believe we are getting to the point of 3 lb babies! I am scared what they are going to say DS weighs on April 1st lol.
  • I had my 24 week appointment today. Everything sounded good. We talked about finding a new OB in PA — apparently it’s normal for them not to take new patients so far into their pregnancy without reviewing their charts first? I was telling him that no where would let me book an appointment without records review first. I was like ‘What if no one wants me?!’ I hope the place I’m interested takes on my case 😕

He also was not thrilled on the COVID vaccine yet 😒 But whatever. Imma do what I want to do.

I have my GD test coming up whenever I take my big butt over to Quest.
  • @DoubleUp8 yay!! Thats amazing news. Soo glad to hear that your cyst has resolved. Congrats. And BTW, my last ultrasound baby boy didn't want to give me a face picture either LOL. He was also bent in half and I got leg and foot pics 😆
  • @DoubleUp8 So glad to hear that the cysts resolved! I know how nerve-wracking that can be. It took two follow up ultrasounds before DD1's cysts went away.
  • @mc0303 I have heard that before, something about taking on a patient at the riskiest part, but there are lots that have done it, so keeping my fingers crossed for you to have the one you want!

Did glucose test this morning. Made it through without puking, but now 2 hours later I feel horrible. Hoping I feel better after some walking and a nap.
  • @ramzlau did my glucose test this morning, too. That sugar crash was rough. A couple snacks, lunch, and lots of water and I’m almost feeling back to normal. Now I’m just impatiently waiting on results....
  • @ramzlau @halfanewt oh God. I have my glucose test on Monday and now im worried that im going to crash after it and I will feel sick too like you ladies 😩 I just want i over with. I hope i don't puke.
  • @mindyb2019 I think with DD I did my test later in the day and had a protein shake for breakfast and it wasn’t bad at all. This time my doctor wanted me to do it in the morning and I had been fasting for 14 hours. I think that made a difference. Water is your friend! And try do no sugar for 12 hours after. Stick to protein and complex carbs.
  • Ugh my glucose test is Thursday at 830.  I’m thinking I may eat something around midnight or so to help. I know I will be damn near starving if I don’t eat anything then go straight into drinking that.
  • I do mine on the 31st, my instructions say I just have to stop eating when I start drinking it and then can’t eat for the one hour before the blood draw. So I’m planning to eat some protein right before hand to hopefully balance the sugar rush.

  • @ramzlau thanks for the tip. My OB wants me to do the 2 Hour test and I have to do it early in the Am ans fast for 8 hours before the test so im sure ill be starving by then lol hope i don't feel sick or nauseous because of it. Is the drink really that much sugar overload??
  • @mindyb2019 No you will probably be fine! I think part of mine was that I took my last Zofran on Sunday morning, trying to stretch to 3 days now. Normally on the third day I am already nauseous and this just added to it.
  • My glucose test is this morning. I am normally a carb breakfast person with a little protein, so we don’t really have a protein breakfast food around our house. I could scramble an egg really fast. I almost definitely need something on my stomach, not because the drink is too much sugar but because I will be starving by the time I leave the Drs office.
  • @legallykate Same! My OB said I could eat an egg or another protein before the drink so that's my plan for Thursday. She said to avoid a lot of carbs and sugary cereal and it should be fine.
  • 24 week appt was yesterday and it was uneventful.  I don't go back for another 4 weeks (April 6) and they will do my glucose test then.  She only wants to see me every 4 weeks until 32 weeks which is reassuring that there are no concerns but I kind of liked going in every 2 weeks at this point last pregnancy.

  • I just had the 1-hour test and it wasn't bad. I ate some scrambled eggs with spinach and tomatoes for breakfast, drank the fruit punch just before noon (way sweeter than I'd choose on my own, but I was thirsty and it was cold so it wasn't terrible). My main worry was that my veins are tricky, didn't want to wait around for an hour just to have them not be able to draw the blood. For once they actually (somewhat) behaved, so only a small bruise from the draw.

Rest of the appointment was delightfully uneventful and my cervix is still super long. Despite that they're sticking with the schedule the MFM recommended, so I'll go back in 28 weeks for another scan, and then switch to every 2 weeks until 32, and then a growth scan every week. Kind of a hassle, but I'm loving the extra appointments and scans, it's really reassuring to me.
  • @halfanewt I don’t have personal experience with this but my understanding is that you don’t get diagnosed yet, you’ll have to do the three hour test and then depending on that they’ll maybe have you do some monitoring/dietary modifications. My good friend was diagnosed with GD with her last pregnancy and she is super tiny and eats super healthy so I think it is somewhat random and wouldn’t beat yourself up. She just had to cut down on carbs and test her blood. FX the three hour goes well for you though!

  • @halfanewt Agree that I think it's kind of random (and I believe I read that it affects 10% of pregnancies). I've had a few friends have to do the 3-hour test, some of them were cleared after that but then some were diagnosed with GD. Hopefully the next test goes well!
  • 28 week appointment this morning. Apparently my iron is starting to look low and I do have to go back for the three hour glucose test. They were able to make it at the same time as my next appointment in a week and a half so that’s good.
  • I had an OB appointment today, everything looks good. I scheduled my glucose test and next rhogam for 3/29. I also have an ultrasound at mfm in 3/29.

  • @halfanewt I’m feeling pretty down about my numbers too. I was not extremely high, but I still feel like I have done something wrong. I eat mostly healthy, but now I am going to be watching every little thing that goes on our table. My appointment was first thing this morning and I didn’t have time to cook eggs so I’m wondering if even that little bit of protein would have helped.
  • @klj0228 I read something that said fasting beforehand (for the 1hr test) can throw your numbers off, your body overreacts to the sugar
  • @akoros that’s interesting! I’m going to take mine soon. Maybe I’ll eat a hard boiled egg or something in the morning.
  • I had my glucose test on Friday but I don’t know my results yet. I did feel so so drowsy during the end of the hour before they took my blood, I thought I was going to fall asleep right there.
  • @akoros @legallykate thanks, ladies. I go in for the 3 hour on Monday. Hopefully it comes back okay. I don’t eat a lot of empty carbs/refined sugars anyway, but the one and only time I tried a low carb diet before, I was miserable.

@klj0228 sorry you’re in the same boat. I had peanut butter wheat toast, and now they tell me that may have been enough to skew it. Should’ve gone with eggs, apparently. Hopefully your 3 hour comes back okay, too!
  • So on my glucose test paperwork it said to fast for 8 hours prior. Does anyone else’s say that? I am scared that it is going to skew my numbers. Last time I definitely ate before.
  • @ramzlau, I always have to fast before mine. I stop eating by 10pm the night before and I usually schedule my test for 8:30 AM. I don’t think it really matters though because it’s how your body responds for the 2nd draw after the drink ultimately?

  • @ramzlau There are a few different types of tests. The one I took (I think I usually see it referred to as the "1 hour test") they told me to "eat normally," but the nurse said to try to avoid carbs the morning of (my test was around 11am or so). Some tests you do need to fast first, particularly the longer ones, so go by what your doctor told you.
  • Phew! My glucose results are available online and it looks like I don't need further testing. FWIW I did the 50g glucose test at 8:30am so I didn't have anything to eat or drink for at least 9 hours prior. I was told to wait in the car for an hour and then come back for bloodwork. I wasn't told to fast, I just read that some people do because food may skew the results.

@AKuzReve They only did one blood draw after the hour wait?

@akoros It was just a one hour one, 50 mg of drink.

And just got my results back, I didn’t pass. So have to do the 3 hour test.
  • @ramzlau sorry to hear it. When do you go back in?
  • Did the glucose test today.  I ate some eggs at about 6 this morning and did the test at 830.  I was not told to fast prior but I avoided sweets all day yesterday lol.  The drink made me feel weird, probably the huge rush of sugar.  I almost felt dizzy but luckily was alone in the room and pulled my mask down to breathe better.   I should get the results later today.

They also told me that at 32 weeks I’ll do appts 2x/ week 😳.  A NST at the beginning of the week then an ultrasound and OB appt towards the end of the week.  I didn’t do this with my first but I know I’m much higher risk this time.  Freaking crazy.
  • @ramzlau, they do the 1st draw pre-drink and then 2nd draw 2 hours after drink here.

Hopefully you pass the 3hr one!!
