@sfield21I’m so sorry, are you doing okay? Did your RE offer any kind of explanation or thoughts on why it didn’t work? Sending lots of warm thoughts ❤️
@sfield21 so sorry, hope the next trial is the one! My FET is coming up and its my last embryo 🤞Thank you for all the information you shared - it has been helping me a lot.
@soccergirl23 good luck with your PIO injections. I got my first injection today. It did not hurt at the beginning but after 5 hrs, now I feel the pain. I have been nervous about PIO for a long while but injection was not bad at all. My estrace pills dropped from 6mg down to 2mg and I will be taking medrol (methylPREDNISolone 8mg) four days prior to the transfer.
@clare40 Yeah, medrol is pretty commonly prescribed for FET protocols -- it's a dose pack for prednisone (steroid) that may help reduce inflammation and increase implantation rates. I did the medrol and sorta added in some benadryl as well heh, just in case, as my first natural BFP was following a month when I was taking benadryl for an allergic reaction. (That BFP ended in miscarriage). Most of the stuff other than the estrogen and progesterone supplements is stuff that "may" help but can't really do much harm if you try it and it doesn't help. Some people add in their own home supplements (pineapple core is one, I believe?) and also do acupuncture.
Do I think that all of this helps? Maybe, at some level, but I think it's mostly done to increase a feeling of control over a process where we lack any real control.
My brain is totally melty right now but we did get the results on the second sample of our third embryo this week -- it was declared a mosaic with some abnormal cells and some normal ones. I forget what it was a mosaic of...I'm sure they told me. In any case, this would be an absolutely last choice embryo since even though it -could- result in a normal baby, I'm not sure I want the risk the high level of miscarriage or potential birth defects.

@clare40 I did medrol with my FET. I am pretty sure my clinic has it as part of their protocol for all transfers just to help decrease inflammation and reduce the risk of your body rejecting the embryo. Thankfully it is only for a week or so - I know that steroids make me crazy!
@mbradfo2 I'm sorry that is disappointing and I can understand wanting to put yourself in a position for success and not worrying about the potential for miscarriage or birth defects.

Thanks ladies, I’m doing alright. I guess seeing negatives all week bummed me, but then it wasn’t a shocker when I went for bloodwork. I just want to know why it failed, but I’ll never know that answer. I asked the nurses and they didn’t have a reason, so I booked a follow up with my RE but it’s not until March 11.
It’s syrup season in Ontario, Canada so we’ve been busy tapping trees and putting our lines up. We usually only tap 15 trees, but we doubled it this year to 30, so that’s been fun and distracting me. The next few weekends we’ll be boiling too. We get about 1 litre of syrup per tree.
@clare40 good luck with your upcoming transfer. 🤞🏻
@clare40 when is your transfer (sorry if you’ve already posted this)? I know exactly what you mean about the PIO, they really don’t hurt going in but a few hours later is a killer! I’ve been trying to use a foam roller, squat, and walk around for like 10 minutes after which seems to kind of help? Anything you’ve found to help with the soreness?
@sfield21that sounds like a great and delicious distraction! I hope your RE can offer up some answers or theories when you meet with them.
@KNB1027 and @mbradfo2 thanks for sharing your experience/knowledge on medrol.
@soccergirl23 ugh no, I dont have any recommendation for the sourness which hit me today. I also went for 15 min walk after the injection and was thinking all good but the pain hit at night and sourness the next day. My transfer day is March 3rd, a day after yours. This is my second FET but first time with medications. My first transfer was natural (no pills, no injections)..
@clare40 sorry, I should have remembered that! This is my first FET in general so I’m not entirely sure what to expect and already feel a little anxious about the 2ww. When is your beta scheduled for? Also, are you planning to test at home before it?
@soccergirl23 MH and I tested a day before our beta because I didn't want to get the phone call with the results alone, but my beta was also really early at 9dp5dt so it was a bit shorter than 2 weeks which was nice. What are your plans for the day of the beta? Will you be working or together with your spouse?

@KNB1027 I was thinking of maybe testing the morning of my beta to better prep myself for the results, but I’m really torn. I’m going to be working the rest of the day after my beta just waiting for that call I’m sure. I haven’t fully decided yet though, I guess I’ll see how I’m doing?
Does anyone feel like their PIO shots are different every night? The first 2 didn’t hurt at all (until the muscle soreness after), then last night I felt this weird popping sensation as the needle went in, and then tonight it really hurt going in and bled a bit when the needle came out. I never know what to expect each night, and now the injection site really hurts which it doesn’t usually. Anyone else experience this?
@soccergirl23 That makes total sense. My PIO are definitely different every night, some don't hurt at all and others feel awful going in, the only reason I can think of is as the area gets more tender and bruised it becomes more sensitive.

Hi Ladies I had my egg retrieval yesterday morning and the embryologist called this morning. 15 retrieved 10 Mature 6 Fertilized 3 they are still watching but doubtful. I kinda thought I'd get more than 6 out of 15 to fertilize but I keep telling myself it's not quantity, it's quality. I hope at least a couple make it to PGS testing. They will call on Thursday to tell me how many made it to blast. I feel a lot better than I thought I would today. Physically more energy and spunk than I've had in a week. So relieved to be done with injections and hormones, at least for now.
Went for ultrasound this morning and I am triggering tonight for a retrieval on Tuesday. I'm triggering with Ovidrel instead of the Lupron I used last time and I'm a bit worried. Apparently there is a shortage so that's why I was given ovidrel. Never triggered with this before and I'm just hoping I have a good response. Anyone use Ovidrel for their trigger?
I try to keep up here but I keep falling behind!!! We're anticipating our transfer next month so I've hopped into that thread also.
@adamae1216 Yeah, that's what my doctor uses as trigger mostly.
@danij823 Just keep moving forward! I had about the same number retrieved and fertilized for my first cycle (9 mature, 5 fertilized). All it takes is one good one; I know quantity can sometimes feel like a buffer to stave off disappointment.
TW
I was disappointed with my first cycle results initially -- only 2 blasts seemed very low when I've read stories about ladies getting 10+ blasts. But ultimately, it didn't matter; one of them was the golden embryo that gave us our daughter.

@danij823 Congrats on the ER, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you! And I'm glad you're feeling good. I'm with you - I was super relieved when all the injections were done, but I'm now apprehensive for the transfer cycle stuff. I'd almost prefer the devil I know, haha.
@soccergirl23 my beta is scheduled for 3/12 when is yours?
I do want to test before my beta and was thinking about it today if that could lessen the number of injections if it is a bfn but I want to think positive so, cant decide now. In my previous ‘natural cycle’ transfer, I tested 5 days after and saw very light positive it disappeared couple days later.
@danij823 congrats on your retrieval, 6 fertilized is great! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
@adamae1216 that's so exciting! I triggered with ovidrel and everything went well for my retrieval Good luck tomorrow!
@clare40 my beta is scheduled for 3/12 too! Hopefully it's a lucky day for both of us That's what happened with my first IUI, I tested 7 days later, got a positive and then it slowly faded because it was a chemical. Glad to have someone on the same timeline as me though! How are your PIO shots going? I felt like the first 2 days I couldn't feel the needle, but the last two have been somewhat painful. Hoping it was just a bad few injections in a row.
Thanks everyone! Just trying to remain hopeful and stay away from google.. Very difficult for me lol! @soccergirl23 The big day is tomorrow right? Good luck love!! @adamae1216 Good luck tomorrow! Hope they get lots of great eggs! @clare40 Good luck on Wednesday! So exciting!
Thanks for the positive energy on my retrieval tomorrow. It's so weird not having to stick myself tonight. I had a mild panic attack when my med alarm went off and I was in the store then I remembered I don't have to do my injections anymore. 🤣🤣 @danij823 thats a good number fertilized now they just need to keep growing. Grow embabies grow!
@adamae1216 good luck tomorrow! I had the same feeling the night before my retrieval too, and for a couple days afterward. It was just so weird not to have the injections looming over me all day, haha!
@soccergirl23 my forth PIO shot is over and except for the sourness the next day, shots are going ok. Hopefully you just had a bad shots. I am getting help with the shot from a nurse friend. Hope yours was ok today.
@danij823 haha yes, definitely stay away from google, although I know it's hard.
@adamae1216 haha I know exactly what you mean with not having to take meds. Good luck today!! I hope everything goes well (which I'm sure it will)
@clare40 glad to hear that! Mine last night was absolutely fine - barely felt it. I guess some are just more painful than others. Thanks for the well wishes, I'm feeling a little nervous - it's crazy to think how important today is (trying not to focus on that though). Good luck with yours tomorrow!!
Hey ladies. I'm in bed resting after retrieval. My original doctor had a conflict so couldn't do my egg retrieval this morning. Luckily the new doctor had just done my ultrasound on Sunday so she knew about my tricky left ovary. They were able to only get 4 mature eggs. She said I had a lot of follicles but not many mature eggs. She was disappointed and expected more but said it was most likely a trigger shot issue. I told her it was the first time I've used Ovidrel and she said that's probably why. I'm not too upset just a bit disappointed. I'm used to this IVF Rollercoaster. 🤞🏾that those 4 eggs fertilize. I planned on doing another cycle anyway before testing, let's just hope the shortage of HCG is over before my next cycle.
@adamae1216 That is interesting about the trigger. So many things can happen, it's so emotionally draining! I hope those 4 eggs fertilize and become the perfect little embabies for you!! I hope you get some rest darlin!
@adamae1216 that is very strange about ovidrel, I didn’t know a trigger could affect that so late in the process. There are so many variables in this process it really is exhausting. I’m sorry to hear it didn’t go as planned but happy to hear you did get 4 mature. Sending good thoughts for those 4 eggs!! ❤️
Everything went well with the transfer today, nothing unexpected luckily and I had my first two sessions of acupuncture yesterday and today which were interesting! Anyone else tried acupuncture around transfer? Now we just wait and see.
So out of the 4 eggs retrieved 2 were mature and fertilized and 1 was immature but still able to be fertilized. All 3 fertilized normally. Is it weird that an immature egg fertilized? They didn't try to fertilize the other immature egg though (maybe it was too immature 🤷🏾♀️). This was a most interesting report and something I've never seen before. Either way I'm excited that three fertilized. I won't know anything else till day 6.
@adamae1216 Uh...I don't know how that is possible since the difference between a "mature" egg and an "immature" egg is that one can be fertilized properly since it has 23 chromosomes and one cannot (immature eggs haven't undergone meiosis so they still have 46 chromosomes). Maybe they meant it matured in the lab and they were able to fertilize it? That's a fairly common practice these days.
As far as the follicles without eggs, it's not unheard of (I had a few empty follicles at my retrieval) but it is usually a sign of either poor trigger timing or inadequate trigger dosing. Ovidrel is a pretty commonly used trigger that alot of doctors find to be reliable, but your other options would be Novarel or generic HCG.
FX for those 3 fertilized!!
@soccergirl23 FX for you! I haven't done acupuncture around my transfer (I did it in the past but not when I was doing IVF) but I did massages to help release tension and stress.

Hope you are all doing well today! I'm just over here trying not to lose my mind while waiting for the day 5 report on my embryos tomorrow morning. I always think the wait is hard, then the next wait is harder! Patience is never my strong suit but IVF sure does test it.
@mbradfo2 that's my thought that they were able to mature the egg in the lab since they said it fertilized normally. I just thought the report read very weird. They didn't call me so I couldn't ask about it.
@Danij823 IVF is just a big waiting game. I'll have to wait 6 more days before I know anything so I'm having a glass of wine while I wait since I'm sure I'll have to stop again soon enough. 😂🍷
@adamae1216 glad to hear you have 3 fertilized eggs! Hoping for good results in 6 days!
@soccergirl23 and @clare40 congrats on your transfers!! I hope this TWW goes by quickly for you both! @soccergirl23 I’ve never tried acupuncture, I think it scares me, lol.
AFM, today is CD3 and I’m back on estrace. Has anyone else started estrace on CD3? I usually start on CD1, but I have a feeling they wanted my transfer to be on a Monday, not the weekend. Just a guess but I don’t know why else they would do this. I tried asking the receptionist and she wasn’t sure why, but said it’s fine to start estrace on CD 1, 2 or 3. I might call the nurses line to ask.
I have a bloodwork and US check on March 16 and then add in progesterone for 5 days, and hopefully transfer on March 22. I guess I’ll jump over to the March board now
Hi guys! Sorry for being MIA here - I realized I was spending WAYYY too much time thinking about / reading about / talking about IVF so needed to give myself a bit of a mental break so I could focus on work. But I just caught up - and just thought about how thankful I am for this community and the support from all of you!
@vl__2019 - so sorry
to hear that you had covid! Glad you are on the mend and ready to start again
@sfield21 - I'm so
sorry that this month didn't turn out how you had hoped. I am really hoping
your next embryo is the lucky one. I hope you get some rest and relaxation -
self care is so important after everything you’ve been through. (by the way,
that is SO cool about the syrup. I am very jealous!! Fresh syrup straight from
the tree - how cool! )
@thezaltyburger -
hope you are feeling better. It's totally natural and understandable to feel
down - this process is tough and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
@clare40@soccergirl23 - hope your transfer went / goes well! Crossing all my fingers
and toes that everything sticks
@adamae1216 - sorry
to hear you were disappointed with your retrieval - crossing my fingers that
the 4 eggs do well over the next few days!
Also, thanks for all the great PIO suggestions from everyone! I am definitely taking notes I am gearing up to start round 2 of IVF in the next week or two. Will move over to the March board now!
My 5 day call came in, to recap: 15 eggs retrieved, 10 mature, 6 fertilized. The embryologist said they were able to biopsy and freeze 2 day 5 embryos and they are watching 2 more and will call me tomorrow. My clinic will not freeze anything lower than B grade so they must look pretty decent. I'm happy and nervous all over again! Now a new wait begins, should be 7-10 days for PGS test results!

@soccergirl23 good luck with the transfer tomorrow!
Uh...I don't know how that is possible since the difference between a "mature" egg and an "immature" egg is that one can be fertilized properly since it has 23 chromosomes and one cannot (immature eggs haven't undergone meiosis so they still have 46 chromosomes).
@soccergirl23
FX for you! I haven't done acupuncture around my transfer (I did it in the past but not when I was doing IVF) but I did massages to help release tension and stress.

"When all is lost then all is found."
@Danij823 IVF is just a big waiting game. I'll have to wait 6 more days before I know anything so I'm having a glass of wine while I wait since I'm sure I'll have to stop again soon enough. 😂🍷
@vl__2019 - so sorry to hear that you had covid! Glad you are on the mend and ready to start again
@sfield21 - I'm so sorry that this month didn't turn out how you had hoped. I am really hoping your next embryo is the lucky one. I hope you get some rest and relaxation - self care is so important after everything you’ve been through. (by the way, that is SO cool about the syrup. I am very jealous!! Fresh syrup straight from the tree - how cool! )
@thezaltyburger - hope you are feeling better. It's totally natural and understandable to feel down - this process is tough and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
@clare40 @soccergirl23 - hope your transfer went / goes well! Crossing all my fingers and toes that everything sticks
@adamae1216 - sorry to hear you were disappointed with your retrieval - crossing my fingers that the 4 eggs do well over the next few days!
Also, thanks for all the great PIO suggestions from everyone! I am definitely taking notes
I am gearing up to start round 2 of IVF in the next week or two. Will move over to the March board now!
