@halfanewt i had been asking about sites to buy maternity clothes on another thread. A few people said Pink Blush had a lot of great dresses. Not sure if thats the route your going, but I must have saved 30 or more shirts I like too.
@halfanewt I've been thinking about maternity shoots too- have you booked yours already? I've never done one and this is absolutely my last chance 😂 so thinking about it. Also thinking about the cherry blossoms - the park I'd want to go to has pink and white flowered trees, with yellow flowers, so I was thinking maybe a dark blue dress. Not sure though.
@mrs_massie I got a few pink blush items with my last kiddo. I liked them. I’m just clueless on the color coordinating side!
@_orchid_ I did book mine already! We have a family photographer that we love and I always end up taking the rest of our family’s pictures so it’s nice for me to have a least a few that I’m in FWIW she said end of March is a little early based on an early June due date, but cherry blossoms make it worth it to go a little earlier!
@halfanewt good to know! I need to look into finding someone soon. Where I am the cherry blossoms usually bloom end of April, so should work ok with late June for date! There's a big park by me that does an annual festival and it's just beautiful 🌸
What are everyone's thoughts on nursing bras v. Pumping bras? I plan to pump at work when I go back so I'm not sure which would be better to invest in. Seems like there are less options for pumping bras. Either way I need to order new bras very soon!
@ellieemc26 Would love to know the answer to this! The logical part of me thinks I should go for a pumping bra since I'll be using it for longer (will need to pump at work, and may also pump a bit before then depending on supply to give others the chance to feed her), but as a FTM I could easily be missing something.
I invested in nursing/pumping bras. You have the ability to do both, so much easier than taking your entire bra off at work and then putting a pumping one on. I purchased from thedairyfairy.com(can also get them on Amazon).
@ellieemc26@akoros with DD I had nursing tanks and nursing bras and a couple pumping bras. When I pumped at work I had to switch bras to my pumping bra - it was 1) cold and 2) obnoxious when I was so full I would leak/spray milk, lol. This time around I’m looking forward to investing in some combo nursing/pumping bras from Kindred Bravely. They’re pricier but I know now how much use I’ll get out of them
@llamamamawearspajamapants Yes! Omg I hated changing to the pumping bra and I pumped in the car a lot so I always had to pull over to change my bra. If I am going to be pumping in an office I will invest in a better pumping bra I can wear without changing.
What platform are people using for registries? Sorry if this has been asked before. I used babies r us for both kids and that's not an option anymore.
I had 2 friends ask where we're registered this week. I wasn't going to make one bc 3rd boy, but one of my friends who asked has bought big gifts for my other kids and said she'd like to for this one, and I don't want to make assumptions about how much she'll spend, so was thinking about making a registry with a few things in different price points? Realistically there's not much we need but people are giving me a hard time when I say just diapers 😂
@_orchid_ I'm using Amazon. I don't think we're having a shower, so it's mostly a checklist for me (and we have Prime, so realistically I'd be ordering most things from there anyway), but I have it opened up in case anyone wants to buy stuff. They do have a universal registry feature to add things from other sites, and also stuff like a Diaper Fund, gift cards, and you can enable people to split the cost of larger items (not sure how exactly that works, but I saw it). They also do a welcome box (coming this week; need to order $10 off the registry first, so I added my saline spray and some extra strength Tylenol we needed to the registry and bought it) and a completion discount.
@_orchid_ we aren’t doing a shower but I made registries for the completion discounts! I did Amazon and Buy Buy Baby for the main things I need to buy. Like @akoros said it’s mainly a check list for me but some family have asked for it.
@_orchid_ We won’t have a shower but I started one at buybuybaby for the completion discounts, I’ll probably start one at Amazon too. @akoros please let me know what is in the Amazon box.
Thanks ladies! I didn't realize Amazon has a universal registry option so I'll probably use that. We have prime also so I'd end up ordering from there, but I have a few friends who are anti-Amazon so I wanted to give the option for something else. Yes definitely let us know what's in the box @akoros!
I got the Amazon box a while ago. I’d be interest to see how different it is Since they change it up frequently. I’ll make a list of what I got in mine too since I haven’t separated anything yet lol
Same here! I did Amazon to share with people that have asked (and you can make things private for your personal shopping list- I do my postnatal care items private, but can still use completion discount on them). My box arrives on Tuesday! I also did a BuyBuy Baby one and a Target one. We drop into both of those stores occasionally and they will let you add items to your registry (as you are checking out at BuyBuy) to apply your discount. For Targets Welcome box you have to pick up in store and they were all out when I went this week. If I get one will let you know what’s in it.
My neighbor helped to set up our registry for us, and she used Baby List. It seems to be a universal registry as well. Interesting that I haven’t seen anyone on this thread mention it though 🤔 FTM here, so hopefully there isn’t a drawback to using that platform for our registry!
@kfc1983 I find Babylist to be frustrating with all of the steps to purchase and prefer Amazon/Target/etc to Babylist. If you're sharing with an older, non tech savvy crowd, they may have some trouble navigating it. Both Amazon and Target have spots for items that aren't on either site. Just some food for thought. 🙂
@kfc1983 my cousin who just had a baby used babylist and I have to agree with @rvamom90, all the steps made it frustrating to use. Randomly, I was also talking to my mom yesterday who informed me that my cousin ended up with all kinds of duplicates that my aunt was going to box up and send out to us and I assume the duplicates were because people either didn't bother or couldn't figure out how to mark off that they had purchased items. Now to be fair I did my registry at buy buy baby and my mom just bought several items from it that arrived this week but only one of them ended up showing purchased so I had to go in and mark them off myself, I don't know if it was user error or registry error but no ones system will be foolproof!
@ellieemc26 Could be user error. They need to purchase by clicking on the link in your registry (or, if in person, bring your registry info and tell the cashier to mark it). Otherwise the store doesn't "know" that the sale is affiliated with your registry. I've had this happen with Amazon wish lists where my mom wrote down what I wanted and bought it, rather than clicking through the wish list, so I got a duplicate gift from my in-laws.
With any item not native to the particular store where you have the registry you usually have to go back and notify them that it's purchased, which is a step many people don't bother with. This is also the main issue with a lot of the registry aggregators that link to other sites rather than having their own store, but some do it better than others. It's not a disaster if you choose one of these, just might be more likely to get duplicate items or be careful to check periodically and make sure things are marked appropriately. Personally I've found it easiest think about which store you're most likely to be buying a bunch of stuff from in them (i.e. Amazon, Target, Buy Buy Baby, Walmart) and make your main registry(ies) with them. Most have a universal registry feature you can use to add a few items other sites.
My mom had the same issues with BabyList that y'all have mentioned. This time around I have Amazon, Target, and Walmart registries. Mainly just shopping list for me, and there are things from each one that I've found I've liked and want duplicates or the boy version of what I have.
Finally took inventory of the gift bags I got lol 😂 pictures in spoilers
So first one is the Amazon registry box (really it’s a bag though lol). Inside was 2 bottles, 1 pacifier, 1 baby blanket, pampers sample, a $40 off coupon for the Lumi monitor, and sample shampoo/lotion.
Second is the target gift bag: 3 different bottles, (the mam bottle has a pacifier inside), pampers and huggies diaper samples, waterwipes and honest co sample wipes, and some random lotion samples, and lansinoh samples. Also the giant coupon scan code that you put in the app.
Next is the buy buy baby gift bag: least amount of stuff here lol 1 bottle, 1 pacifier, a baby on board sign, mustela sample of no rinse cleansing water (?), and some random samples.
Last one (lol I can’t believe I got so many) is Walmart. This one took over a month to ship but I was pleasantly surprised. 2 bottles (mam has a pacifier inside), 1-12 month cards for pictures (on the back has little milestones like “I sat up today”), huggies diapers and wipes samples, shampoo/body wash samples, lansinoh samples, and baby oatmeal.
Just got my Amazon one today! I got a few different things then @sgrn18.
Pic in spoiler
