Re: Weekly Check In 2/8

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 9/3 10w5d

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a cotton ball

Upcoming appointments: 2/17 ultrasound 2/19 12 week appt

How are you feeling?: exhausted mostly, nausea comes and goes.  Yesterday I had a huge gas pain in my upper abdomen that wouldn't go away, but it's better today

Rants/Raves: it's so cold here.  I don't want to go outside, but today is my kid free errand running day so I need the motivation to leave

Also my new double stroller came yesterday.  I got the baby trend snap and go universal stroller.  My 2 twin mom friends swear by it and I found a good deal on Amazon.

    Questions: nope

GTKY: Tell me about your favorite vacation

Both times we went to Jamaica.  First our honeymoon and we went back 2 years later.  We went to the same resort.  It was so relaxing and warm.  The second time we went during the polar vortex 2014.  It was nice to escape the cold.

  • @krash_ When I first moved here I didn’t see the night sky for nearly 3 months. My brain could not slow down and let me go to sleep at a decent hour and I ended up staying up most of the night. I did it last summer too. I just can’t go to sleep when it looks like it’s 3 in the afternoon around 11 pm. Most people sleep more in the winter and sleep way less in the summer here. Even the kids are out at midnight sometimes riding their bikes. My hiking group does nightly mom hikes in the summer and it’s fun to hike up the mountain in the middle of the night. You see way more wildlife and the skies look beautiful. The house we live in now gets more sunlight but I’m just ready for the days to get to a normal length already. This winter has been long. I really hope we get a really hot summer and don’t stay in the 60’s like last year.
  • @muggsd I feel you on the cold weather! We’ve been double digit negative for a whole week! The only blessing is I haven’t had to do outdoor recess duty!

@chewie5990 I am planning to tell my parents and siblings next week on my birthday! Still holding out on telling our kids though because once they know they’ll tell every Tom, Dick, and Harry they see on the street 😂

@Jcrewgirl85 I hate not working out either. I’m a huge runner and I just can’t get past my nausea enough to do it right now. I’ve worked so hard on my health and fitness this past year and now I feel like it’s all going away. It sucks. I plan to start running again in the second trimester.

@sleepydaze my SIL is very similar to yours. She’s a super jealous person. She had her first child last year and she’s a little better now, but she can still be pretty awful and petty.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: Sept. 20/ 8w2d today.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: size of a raspberry

Upcoming appointments: phone consult tomorrow, in person appointment on 3/9.

How are you feeling?: like a bag of crap. Super nauseous and vomiting almost every day. I’ve been using unisom/B6 combo, and it helps a little, but not much. I get super hungry, but when I try to eat I can only take 4 or 5 bites and then I get a stomach ache. All soap, detergent, shampoo, face wash etc smells bother me.

Rants/Raves: Rant: I moved back to my home state last summer and have been trying to convert my teaching license. I submitted my application last October and just got an email last week stating I have to take a standardized test to qualify for Wisconsin’s teaching reading standards and they have to have my results by March 1 or I’ll have to resubmit my application (and pay the massive fee again). So, I have to study material I haven’t seen or used in 8 years (it’s a test for how to do reading instruction- which I never have and never will teach), take a day off work on Friday and go take a 4 hour test. It’s ridiculous and I’m not happy about it.

    Questions: none

GTKY: Tell me about your favorite vacation. I’ve had a couple great ones- we did a Switzerland, France, Germany trip when I was in high school- everything was beautiful. The year before high school my parents adopted my youngest sister from China and we all spent 2 weeks there- it was incredible and quite a culture shock!

  • @emjeve yeah we probably won't tell DS1 until closer to 20 weeks. Mainly because every single day he will ask if it's time for the baby to be born and I know it will get old super quick. I already told DS2 but he's 8 months old so I don't think he cares  :D
  • @emjeve it's insane how difficult they make it for teachers to move! I moved from Texas to Colorado 3 years ago and I still haven't gotten everything together for my CO license yet (it's my summer plan for this year though). I will need to take 2 tests and possible take one college class (can't figure this out for sure..) even though I've been teaching for 8+ years (2 them in CO) and have a masters degree in education. Luckily, I teach at a private school though and they aren't pushing me about it too much.
