Re: All Due Date Check-in w/ 1/26

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: July 3 (repeat c/s around June 24-25)/ 17+5?

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Green
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a pomegrante, maybe?

Upcoming appointments: February 9 for anatomy scan

How are you feeling?: Good. Wasn’t feeling pregnant and then pelvic pain and back pain kicked up as a FU. 😆

Rants/Raves: I can’t believe how big my bump is. It’s shocking. I don’t think I was this big until week 28 with my son. 😬😬 My mom sent a box from Canada with all of my son’s newborn stuff so I’m excited to get it eventually and sort through it. We should be 100% covered so it’ll be nice to get organized with that. This no longer dairy free life is a killer. I’ve been eating way too much stuff I shouldn’t be eating. 😅 I had to rein myself in yesterday. I finally got my son an in-person doctor Appt so we can get working on some new allergy tests. I’m so overwhelmed with how many new ones seem to have presented over the past month.

    Questions:
GTKY: What's for dinner? I made chicken burgers with avocado and jalapeño for dinner last night.

How are you feeling?: Physically fine.  I wish I could feel her more to settle my anxiety.

Rants/Raves: If I don't get a box of cheez-its sometime today heads are going to roll.
Rave: DS pooped in the potty this morning.  It was a big deal.
    Questions:

GTKY: What's for dinner? Meh.  I think leftovers which is annoying because I didn't love the meal the first time but DH does all the cooking so I can't complain.

He still has moments that drive me crazy, but when I have told him, mommy really needs to to help and been a good boy while Daddy is doing family stuff (DH was pulled into a lot of the funeral planning), DS was really good.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: June 29th/18+2
    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM, but 3rd pregnancy
    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: pink
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: ice cream sandwich...is it just me, or do these size fruits/foods sound huge? I keep staring at my stomach trying to picture it. Another one I saw: I now have a uterus inside my uterus (or, for those of you with boys, you now have a little penis inside you). Found that amusing
Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan on Feb 9th
How are you feeling?: Not bad. I do have almost-daily headaches, but they're thankfully pretty mild, and some back pain (I can tell my posture's changed) and growing pains
Rants/Raves: Rave -- yummy burrito for lunch!  Rant -- yummy burrito was too much food, I can feel my muscles struggling to stretch
Questions: My AS is with the MFM, and the last time I was there the genetic counselor kept asking me if I wanted to schedule a CVS or amniocentesis. NIPT, AFP, and Ultrascreen were all normal, no soft markers on the NT scan, and the early anatomy scan was also normal. I know that I have a history of chromosomal abnormalities (my first pregnancy, which they've determined was a random occurrence, no genetic predisposition) and loss, but I don't really feel inclined to get an invasive test if there's no apparent reason to. Aside from the risks involved, they're not exactly pleasant so I'd rather avoid the stress and discomfort. I told the counselor we could revisit the issue after the 20-week scan. Am I being too lackadaisical? I'm actually kind of hoping the normal genetic counselor is back from maternity leave for this appointment, I dealt with her for my first two pregnancies liked her a lot better.
GTKY: What's for dinner? Probably creamy sundried tomato chicken penne bake (Home Chef meal kit)
  • @akoros I also had my AS at the MFM.  FWIW, the doc told me that because there was nothing unusual on the scan and all other tests were normal that it presented more risk for me to get CVS or amnio than the possibility of it detecting something and she did not recommend it.  To be fair I don't have any pregnancy history and I'm also an IVF mom so we did genetic screening on our embryo which may have influenced her opinion, my risks are IVF and AMA.  Ultimately I think its your decision, if you're not comfortable with it don't do it.  I would say at least get the doc's opinion and not just the genetic counselor, you don't want someone just handing you the lunchbox of tests that may not all be necessary.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 6/6, 21+4
    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM
    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Blue!
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: some giant starbuck's drink, can't recall exactly
Upcoming appointments: 2/16 for 24 week check up
How are you feeling?: big, tired, but no real complaints
Rants/Raves: rant at myself.  I've come to the conclusion that I am likely causing my own constipation issues by taking too much iron. My prenatal has the full recommended amount in it and I also obviously eat it throughout the day too.  I was super paranoid about not getting the right nutrients in 1st tri and when you generically look up foods that are high in iron its pretty much all things I don't eat so I made a point of finding a prenatal that had it.  But, surprise, I looked at bunch of labels as I was eating this morning and most everything I eat has some iron it which means I'm getting way more than the recommended amount every day!  I'm going to switch to a different prenatal and see if it helps.
    Questions:
GTKY: What's for dinner?  Thursday night is take-out night!  I think we're ordering italian.
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 21 weeks tomorrow
    FTM/STM/STM+: STM
    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: BLUE
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Banana
Upcoming appointments: I think have an OB appointment the first week of Feb, wow is that next week?
How are you feeling?: pretty good, bump is getting big, back is starting to have more twinges
Rants/Raves: Raves: my former job admitted to wrongful termination and is settling! Rant: I don’t know what the settlement will be yet, so all baby shopping is on hold. Come on hurry up!
Questions: my mom will fly out to take care of DD during our delivery and recovery. Anyone have tips about how to book a flexible ticket?
GTKY: What's for dinner? We had lentil soup! It has been cold and rainy so it is a nice warm meal.

@akoros My AS was with a perinatal specialist. On the intake form they asked if I wanted an amniocentesis, I declined unless something showed up on the scan. I talked with the specialist when she was doing the AS, she said there are some things like Down’s syndrome that do not show up well
on AS, so she just confirmed that we had done the NIPT. She was confident that with that test and no soft markers that an amniocentesis was not necessary. So basically I did what you planned. I feel
    confident with my decision.
  • Thanks @ellieemc26 and @ramzlau! That's what I thought, but wasn't sure if I was missing something obvious and didn't want to be coerced into something unnecessary. Also, that's great about the settlement @ramzlau!
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: June 30/repeat c-section/18+1

    -FTM/STM/STM+: FTM - 3rd pregnancy
    -Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Team Blue
-Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: An ear of corn 🌽
-Upcoming appointments: I have an OB appointment on Monday Feb 1st.
-How are you feeling?: Overall I have been feeling pretty damn good. My energy is there and I have been working out 5-6 times a week now which feels amazing. I have been peeing alot though which is annoying. I wake up like 4-5 times during the night. Ugh 🙄 Also, lately my hands and fingers have been going numb and tingly when I'm sleeping which im not sure why and my varicose veins in my right leg have been really bothering me and hurting daily. Oh and I forgot alot of headaches lately too.
Rants/Raves: Raves- I think I have been feeling baby move and small kicks for the last week or so now. I feel these strange feelings and taps inside so im assuming it's him 🥰 Its also my neices 1st birthday today. Man I can't believe it already. Time has flown by fast. DH and I got her some cute gifts to give her this weekend.
-Questions: My upper chest area has been soo itchy lately and all I do is scratch. Anyone else's chest itchy?? Why would it be itchy?
-GTKY: What's for dinner? Blackened cajun chicken penne pasta with bacon and green onions and garlic bread 🤤
  • @mindyb2019 it is probably carpal tunnel, I had it pretty bad with DD. It went away pretty much immediately after birth. If it gets really bad you can wear braces at night.
    Me: 38, DH: 37
    Married: 8/10/13
    BFP- 12/18/15, D&E- 4/8/16 @ 21w5d- confirmed Thanatophoric Dysplasia

    BFP- 10/9/20 ~ EDD- 6/21/21

  • @mindyb2019 If the itchiness turns to a rash, I would mention it to your OB, otherwise it is probably just hormones like everything else lol. For the varicose veins, I don’t remember if you mentioned it before so maybe you already do this, but my sister has had a lot of luck using compression socks to help with the pain from them.
  • @ramzlau yes I have medical grade compression stocking that I wear on my leg daily and it seems to help with the pain. I find the tightness also makes my leg itch all day from the band lol but goes away when I take it off.
  • @mindyb2019 Like @MelissaMay82 said, it's probably carpal tunnel (if it's your thumb and first couple fingers) and/or ulnar tunnel (ring & pinky finger). I read it can happen in pregnancy as vessels and all swell. The ulnar tunnel started up for me last time and continued with this pregnancy. If you have a wrist brace it can help, as it'll force you to keep your wrist straight and relaxed at night
  • Ugh....my nose is killing me. It's not super congested, but just enough to make me sniffly and sneeze. And super tired, which I can't tell whether is due to pregnancy or because I feel crappy. Not sure if it's a cold or allergies, but Zyrtec doesn't seem to be doing much right now.
  • @akoros sorry your nose is bothering you. I hope you get some relief soon. I've been sneezing alot this morning too.
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 20&1, I had my a/s yesterday and was measuring right on target!
    FTM/STM/STM+: STM++ (our 4th)
Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: I can now say, TEAM PINK! Our 4th girl and I am so excited.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A banana
Upcoming appointments: Next month sometime, I forget when
How are you feeling?: I am dealing with insomnia. Its a PITA. Nausea is still pretty persistent. Back pain. Oh pregnancy has never been my friend.
Rants/Raves: I expected it, but I am still annoyed with people who think/make comments that we got pregnant to try for a boy and now that we are having a 4th girl they're like, "maybe 5 will be your boy!" Excuse me, there will be no 5, first of all. And second of all, can we celebrate this sweet baby girl and her life beginning? Very annoying.
Questions: How is everyone's motivation with movement? I need to find some but can't! My usual exercise option all have road blocks right now- can't Zumba in the studio, walking is too cold, and I love doing yoga at home but I can't bend over without getting incredibly nauseous! I can easily Zumba/dance cardio at home but I've never gotten into a good routine with that.
GTKY: What's for dinner? No idea! I've gotten into a dinner/food rut. Nothing ever sounds good.
    Married <3 August 2010

    DD2 <3 August 2013
    DD3 <3 February 2017
  • @disgruntled_pelican I'm sorry about the insomnia.  In regards to movement/ exercise I have been finding a lot of pre-natal workouts/ yoga online that have kept me motivated.  Since they are all new classes and workouts to me I'm more excited to do them than the online classes I was doing before.  I LOVED pre-natal yoga when I was pregnant with DS and really miss going to a class and connecting with other expecting women but this is at least getting me moving.  I really like BabyFit by Amy on Youtube.

  • @disgruntled_pelican I am doing Fit4mom prenatal class. There are local chapters and I joined ours when DD was about 10 months. It was a great way to meet other moms with little ones and get a workout in. Our prenatal classes are virtual right now, so it might be something to get you motivated and still be at home.
  • @mc303 I'm sending you LOTS of good vibes for your anatomy scan next week!
@AKuzReve Hopefully you'll be able to get some things figured out with your son's doctor! Allergies can be really scary. That's exciting that you'll be able to sort through stuff from your mom soon too! I'm way behind on baby prep.
@laurad75 Did you get your cheez-its? I need to know these things. Hooray for potty training milestones!!
@sgrn18 Nights seem to be the most active time for my LO as well and I'm loving it too! One of my favorite parts of pregnancy. Hang in there with the bedrest! I took up crocheting last time. Got about halfway through a blanket. I hope to finish it before this LO arrives.
@DoubleUp8 I hope you have a good weekend this weekend. Take it easy on yourselves. Grief isn't an easy process. I'm glad your DS has been so helpful.
@akoros I definitely don't see a reason based on your previous testing and ultrasounds for this pregnancy that you should need to schedule a CVS or amnio. Invasive testing like that can potentially lead to other complications like PPROM and preterm labor and those risks can definitely outweigh the benefits if everything else looks good. I also agree with getting the doctor's opinion and talking it through with them as well as the genetic counselor to fully inform your choice either way. ALSO with the nose thing, it could be pregnancy rhinitis. I've been dealing with the same thing lately. Super annoying.
@ramzlau That's awesome about the settlement, but I don't blame you for putting baby shopping on hold. Hopefully the settlement gets figured out soon!
@angelz429 Did the progesterone shots make your nausea worse? I just started them this week but my HG hadn't fully gone away to begin with. Really hoping it doesn't start to get worse again. I'm glad YH is out of the hospital and doing better!
@mindyb2019 I hope you have an amazing appointment Monday! Yay for baby movements!! I'm glad you've been feeling good! the itchy chest could potentially be from your skin stretching. At around this point in pregnancy breasts may start to change shape and grow. Like ramzlau said, if a rash develops definitely mention it to your OB.

How are you feeling?: Doing okay. This week is a big trauma processing week. Taking it day by day. Still getting sick every day but it's getting better.
Rants/Raves: I officially started my Makena injections and holy WOW the progesterone burns. Baby girl has been moving a lot more recently which helps me feel a lot more at ease, especially with such long stretches between appointments. Lots of awesome stuff happening with professional development (conferences to attend, possibly to present at, working on some research to submit to publish- really fun things). I just need to work past my trauma brain to actually DO anything, including my grad school work which has been a STRUGGLE.

  • @disgruntled_pelican I am doing prenatal classes on The Mirror and One Strong Mama prenatal classes I purchased for DS2’s pregnancy. I highly recommend them. They are specifically planned for helping support you during pregnancy and to prepare your body for birth. I wake up early to work out while DH makes breakfast and watches the kids. I incentivized myself with rewards to get back in the routine.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days:  20 weeks
    FTM/STM/STM+: 3rd Baby
Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Reluctant team green, we might cave at the scan this next week
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: banana
Upcoming appointments: the anatomy scan is this week
How are you feeling?: tired, very very tired
Rants: DS1 (3.5) is not sleeping well and I’m just completely over it. He wakes up at 5 but he’s cranky and clearly tired. I don’t want to be woken up at 5 am. He’s also taken to waking up his little brother, who is going through a stripping phase and he’s not potty trained so you can’t just leave him in his crib to bounce around. DH and I are at a complete loss with what to do. We’ve tried everything. He DGAF about the okay to wake light. Getting mad doesn’t work. Letting him watch Tv or giving him the iPad only makes him wake up progressively earlier until he’s having meltdowns at 4 am because it’s not tv time. Rewards and treats haven’t been particularly successful, he’s psyched when he gets one but it doesn’t motivate him to stay in bed. *pulls hair out and then cries*
Questions: Anyone else gets super cold at the same time everyday? Between 5-6 I get completely chilled.
GTKY: What's for dinner? Pizza!! As I mentioned above incentivize myself to do things. This week I was trying to get 8 hours of sleep, which was mostly unsuccessful *glares at DS1* so my goal was to get in bed by 9 everyday. I did it so we are having homemade pizza and watching a show of my choice tonight!

  • @ashaislurking it relaxes smooth muscle. So definitely makes heartburn happen. Reflux now. And possibly the nausea for me. And I had a couple weeks before this I felt normal too 😭

  • @AKuzReve I'm sorry ds has had so many reactions the past month! I hope the Dr is able to help.
@disgruntled_pelican I made a goal this year to do 21 minutes of exercise 20 days a month, and just thinking I only have to do 21 minutes gets me started. Some days I struggle and stop there, but most of the time by 10 minutes I'm feeling good and keep going. Today was a struggle to start but I ended up running/walking 45 minutes. I walk and run outside in layers (the high today was 28) and like it bc otherwise I wouldn't be outside at all. I also do weights/yoga videos on YouTube.
@Omie_Wise ds2 (4) has been waking up early all week too 😭 he went back to preschool on Monday, and they nap there (he doesn't at home) so it's thrown off his whole schedule. No advice bc I'm dying too. His thing is he gets bored in bed so he just goes back and forth to the bathroom, pees the first trip and then waits until he gets a drop out on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th trip. Slams the bathroom and bedroom doors each time. Just keep reminding myself it's a sucky phase that will pass. I get cold in the evenings too and sometimes take a quick hot shower/rinse to help warm up.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 6/29 18+5
    FTM/STM/STM+: STM+
    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: blue!
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: idk
Upcoming appointments: 2/5 for fetal echo and reg ob
How are you feeling?: Like crap. Insomnia, ds2 waking up early, naseua and painful gas from my meds.
Rants/Raves: rant: I'm effing tired lol. Just fatigued and over pandemic parenting. Rave: my ILs and dad/stepmom are all planning to be here 5-6 weeks in June/July to help with the kids. I'm ESTATIC. We haven't seen any of them in over a year now and they never helped out with my other kids so I'm feeling really hopeful. My ILs have a house 3 blocks away from us and my parents will be Airbnb-ing a house so we'll have space too when we need it. Just having more adults to play monopoly with DS1 so I don't have to make me so excited (he's obsessed and I hate that game LOL)
    Questions:
GTKY: What's for dinner? We had sticky rice fried rice and sauteed green beans. Our oven has been broken since JANUARY 1 bc we can't get anyone to our house to repair it. I think we might end up buying a new one even though it seems like it's just the igniter that's broken.
  • @disgruntled_pelican, my goal right now is basic but 2-3 long walks and 1 prenatal barre class a week. I’ve been mostly successful the past 3 weeks.
