We are leaning towards Isabella for DD3. I don’t totally love it(thanks twilight) but I also didn’t love DD2’s name but it totally fits her now and she would be weird as something else.
I’m struggling with a middle name for Isabella. Our last name(Hispanic) has 3 syllables so I’m thinking something with just one, maybe two, syllables. It also has to be sorta Spanish sounding.
As of right now, our top contenders are Maya for a girl and Desmond for a boy. Our sonographer on Friday says that she thinks the baby is a boy, and the second that I heard that, I started second guessing Desmond... DH loves it and we have agreed that our boy name would start with a D (like his). Problem is, there are very few D names that I really care for aside from DH's name (and he does not want a JR.)
So Desmond (Desi)... what do we think?
Me: 32 years old
DH: 33 years old
Married in May 16, 2015
TTC #1 (on and off) since September 2015 DS1 Due 6.7.2021
@Maggie1202 we had a Desmond in our last bump group for N16.
I have run a lot of names through and off our name list so far.
My favorite name is Persephone. I heard a little girl say that was her name like 10 years ago and I just thought it was so adorable being such a mouthful coming from her. Husband vetoed.
Then I realized literally everyone else in my family (me, DH, DS, DD) all have 2 syllable first names and 1 syllable middle names so we’re sticking there.
I’m not opposed to alliteration, but liaison (we have an S last name so if the first name ends in S it runs together and the first name gets cut off), which means Dallas, my other favorite girl name was off the list lol
DS is Draken Lee & DD is Brielle Rose. I like hard consonants in boy names and soft sounds in girl names.
Currently on our list is: Girls: Maisie, Noelle, Holly (my current favorite I think!), Maira (pronounced May-ra), and Emlyn Boys: Colton, Austin, Easton, Alec vs Alek (my current favorite), and Kieran
also, my name is a season, so I’m all for the middle name Winter 💜
We have a 3 syllable last name that is rather harsh sounding. So I like one syllable or shorter first names. Im not sure how to name another boy when we didn’t agree on a name for DS1 til like 8 months pregnant lol
We like Reece, Jace, and Milo so far but again we keep changing our minds. These are just from this week.
@angelz429 I love Easton for a boy too. It’s on my boy list as well. I also think Maira and Emlyn are really pretty names. Love them! Holly is my bosses name lol good choice.
Late to the conversation but I have always loved Arcadia for a girl name (it was what my mom wanted to name me) and DH likes it or is too afraid to argue with me on it haha. Not sure on middle name I like Lynn but have also been thinking about Lea (pronounced Lee) DH likes Rose but then she would have the same initials as her uncle which I don’t want.
For a boy I have no idea ! We had decided on Alexander but he met someone on deployment and they’re really good friends now and just so happens that’s his name so it’s off the list. I like Kayson, Cayden, Kai, and Cale (not sure why I’m stuck on the K sound but I just realized they’re all similar) haven’t talked to DH about them yet because we are pretty sure it’s going to be a girl hopefully we will know in a week or so to help !
DH and I started talking names. So far we like (not set on spellings yet) Adeline/Adalynn/Addison (nn Addy/Addie), Madison (nn Maddie/Maddy), Allison (nn Allie), and Caitlyn. Caitlyn is one of my favorites but I don’t think we would use a nn because we know a billion kates and Katies.
My mom asked me today if we had names picked our for the baby, and despite my better judgment, I gave in and shared that we like Owen for a boy, and Olivia for a girl.
Her response: Oh.... well you still have lots of time to decide.
REAL SUBTLE! haha you just have to laugh and move on. But I won’t be making that mistake again! Besides this forum our names are under lock and key until he/she arrives!
Lol @ashleyjillian15 - this is our 4th and we just figured out not to share names. My moms naming style is totally opposite of mine. She is obsessed with the name Chloe and pushes so hard for it. She even sends texts like, “how’s my little Chloe doing today?” Lol nothing wrong with the name, but it’s NMS and has never been on any list at all. She asked recently about names and I just told her we had some picked out but aren’t sharing until we’re certain. Whiiiiich she also pushed against but I wasn’t having!
Married August 2010 DD1 August 2011 DD2 August 2013 DD3 February 2017
@disgruntled_pelican wow I cannot believe she’s calling your unborn baby by a name she picked out, that would bother the heck out of me! My mom threw out some suggestions like “Eve” and “Claire”, both perfectly fine names, but like you said NMS.
I regret not throwing out some really off the wall names, like Apple or Wolverine, to both terrify her and eventually gain her appreciation for the charming names I have actually picked out haha.
We've decided on Delilah Iris Ann for a girl or Isaac Dean Archer for a boy. Our two older kids both have A middle names, so we want number 3 to follow that trend. D names and I names in honor of my brother and mother in law.
We have named DS! His name is Jude, but still trying to figure out middle name. We have shared the name with friends and family, and like with DD we never got a bad reaction, but I think it is because we say it very directly, not we are thinking or considering, but just the baby's name is XX.
I am probably in the unpopular opinion that I prefer to share the name as early as possible. That way I don’t have to listen to horrible name suggestions for 6 months and people can gift personalized items.
I am very superstitious about the name thing. This is our 4th and we’ve never shared our name options with anyone (not even on pregnancy boards) until birth. I find I usually pick a name with 90% or more certainty by 12 weeks or so, and then I sit on it the rest of the pregnancy and let it “soak in” per se. we always go with unpopular (but real and not made up) names - and we just don’t want to hear any backlash or opinions 🤪😬

We are set on Levi. I already told my family. I said this IS his name so fix your face first and keep your opinions to yourself. We didn’t tell anyone last time and it was such a pain getting suggestions all the time. Or being prodded to guess the name.
@ashleyjillian15 I just lol’d at your mom’s response. I caved and told my aunt the name we picked for DS early on and she said ‘oh. Well what would his middle name be?’ I was so mad at myself for telling her.
@disgruntled_pelican I can’t... I’m so lucky that my mom doesn’t want to know the front runners. It took her a little time to get used to DS’s name but now she thinks it’s perfect.
Now that we know it’s a girl our front runner is Quinn and I like Tessa for a middle name. We went to the Quintessa winery on our honeymoon and once I thought of the name I couldn’t get it out of my head.

I'm struggling with girls names bc I have the middle names picked out. My son's name is Hunter Samson Michael. Samson is his godfather and Michael is his grandpa (not bio but my father figure) So if we had a girl her name would be xxx Katherine Margaret Katherine her godmother and Margaret is my mom.
@laurad75 I LOVE Quinn for a girl. DH vetoed it 8 years ago for lo1 but if this one is a girl I might try again 😆 we typically have a harder time with girls' names than boys. I love most H (Hope, Hannah, Hazel, Helen) names but we cannot do an H with our last name for abbreviation purposes (both first initial/last initial and first initial/full last name are problematic).
My husband and I have just started talking about names. I really like the name Kathleen for a girl. I have one cousin whose daughter is named Kathleen, who we maaaybe see once a year and live about 7 hours away from. Would it be weird if we used that name also? Side note -- this is IF we have a girl (we are team green).
@jaztastic I love Emmanuel too, and Warren! Some of my fav boy names. You are lucky you and DH are on the same wavelength.
@disgruntled_pelican August is one of my top names too. We got married in St. Augustine Florida. Doubt I'll sell DH on it though.
@AKuzReve I'm sorry for your loss. Leo is one of my Hs top two, and I'm considering it. Not something I would have picked but could work.
It's hard for us bc were from different cultures and different languages, so it really narrows the options. In his culture there is no middle name, just a patronymic, which means "son of" or "daughter of" and they name all kids after the dad. If it's a girl, no way, but its probably a boy. So I'm thinking I'll let him have the patronymic. This might be the only baby we ever get and it means a lot to him. But it's sad we only get to pick a first name.
@AlliDB I’m team name your kid what you want. I don’t think it’s weird, but it’s also close enough in relation that I personally wouldn’t (but I’m also scared of names on the top 100 popularity list).
@angelz429 thanks for the feedback I am with you on the popularity list! I like to stay off that, but also not so different. Who knows what we will end up doing... and I have a feeling this little nugget is a boy anyway!
@angelz429 I have a daughter named Charlotte, and it has in the top 5 for awhile. For what it's worth I have only met a handful of other Charlottes (and none in our extended friend group). #74 might not be as common as you think?
I love that several of you have a list of a few name contenders or even already picked a name. We waited until I was at least 30 weeks pregnant to even start talking names last time and didn’t fully have it set until we were driving to the hospital. We will probably wait until closer with this baby too. I like to feel them move around and see the anatomy scan before I pick a name.
