Re: DEC 2020 FET&IVF

  • @adamae1216 we are on the fence, originally only wanted two kids but now that DD is at the ripe old age of 4 and we would be “starting over” the baby years anyway, we are kinda thinking of two more, close together. That could just be the drugs talking 😂

Doctor didn’t give me an option, said I’m too high risk for OHSS with that many follicles. No idea how many more I’ll have by Sunday but it seems like I’ll be up in the 30’s for sure. I also have this relentless fluid in my endometrial cavity which won’t reabsorb so wouldn’t have been able to do a fresh transfer anyway. My RE suspects the fluid may have to do with my c-section scar defect (a “niche”) but there’s not enough data on that subject in the literature yet so she didn’t want to draw causality. Now my mind is going nuts wondering if my c-section is the true cause of all our hardships.

That does seem like a long time to wait! Great start though! FX’d for continued positive news!!

  • @adamae1216 hopefully they all make to blasts. As I remember you said you’re sending them to PGS afterwards, is it a long wait too?
@PrettyPalomino I’m crossing my fingers for you and your eggs, hopefully they can retrieve and fertilize as many as possible. 🤞🏻

AFM my embryos are being shipped and en route from TN to MO. Hopefully they make to their destination in one piece.
  • @msldyc23 I haven’t heard about Vitamin E, definitely adding it too. I have 10 more days of Lupron, it doesn’t really bother me with the exception that it has to be at the same time. On Monday I gave myself a shot 2 hrs late and now worry crazy that it’s all messed something up
  • @PrettyPalomino there is always some hold up with IF unfortunately.  Hoping you're not in too much pain once they do the egg retreival.  Anesthesia gives me really bad gas so I was in a bit of pain yesterday but today it's better.

@dukie001 I don't know how long the PGS process is but I think it's about a week.  Making the test for the sickle cell trait took a good 6 weeks so hopefully the testing process will be short.  I'll probably do another round of stims before doing any testing of embryos since it's $1700 every time I test and they will test up to 16 at a time.
  • @dukie001congrats your getting closer and closer. and no worries about taking it late- I took mine late a few times b/c I was out and didnt bring it w/ me... My nurse said it was fine.

It took about a week for PGS testing to come back, I knew it was finish once they charged me for the services. Seriously, I got an alert a charge was made and 5 minutes later the nurse called w/ my results.

    AFM
Today I had another lining check, and I'm at 7.9 and almost at the tri- lining they need, so FX it thickens by my next US on Monday,  as my transfer is Tuesday and I also started my PIO and Medrol medz.

  • Finally have my stim schedule all set! I’ll start Gonal F, Luveris and Decadron on Sunday, add in the Cetrotide next Friday, and my first ultrasound will be next Saturday. If all goes according to plan, ER would be the 17th (which is right at the end of my vacation week) and implantation would be December 22nd. Cutting it real close to Christmas! I’m kind of hoping things will move quicker than expected and maybe ER can be a day or two earlier, but knowing my luck, it’ll be later and I’ll have the implantation on the 25th

I’m loving all these tips for food and drinks and vitamins! I should have been on this board ages ago...

FX’d for a Christmas miracle! At least with Covid, the holiday season is tame and you don’t have to over-commit yourself while juggling IVF/transfer.

AFM; first ever ER on Monday 😬 I’m triggering with Lupron tonight. I’m a ball of nerves, I’ve seen so many posts saying it was an awful painful experience for some, while others say they slept through it or don’t remember it. I really freaking hope the drugs take their full effect on me... ugh. Dread. Dready dread dread.

  • @PrettyPalomino So true! This will be much easier when we’re not committed for a full 3+ days of Christmas events with the different branches of our family.

Good luck on the ER! I hope it goes smoothly and you forget everything that happens in that room.
  • @msldyc23 7.9 is really good and as long as it is tri liniar. Let us know how it goes tomorrow!

@sawasap I actually think that the most important out of all those tips is proper hydration. I remind misled all the time to go drink another glass of water

@PrettyPalomino Monday!!!! I hope you’ll get good anesthesiologist and he or she makes sure you put out for the procedure. FC 🤞🏻 for a lot of mature follicles are retrieved.

AFM I have my first and only monitoring appointment on Thursday...agh...I wish I had more. The fact that I do t know how my lining is growing is weighing on me
  • Hey friends! Joining here from the Nov. FET. Transfer #2 scheduled for Dec. 16! Fingers crossed. I will likely find out the results on Christmas Eve, so a positive would be the perfect present!! 🥰
  • Also after reading all of your posts I just bought pineapple 😂 I had an ultrasound appt this morning and it looks like I will be doing the FET a little sooner than the 16th because the dr said I’m starting to grow a follicle - which they don’t want at this point. 3 years in and I’m still learning how this all works. Growing follicles used to be good, now they’re bad 🤷🏼‍♀️ I can’t keep up lol
  • @dukie001 Thursday will be here before you know it, but I totally feel you on more US/LABS before the actual transfer all the way up to the day before. Did to ask your Dr. if it was possible?

@kam174 Welcome over and that’s great they moved your FET date. Do you have a different protocol this round? Is there anything to prevent the follicle from releasing?

    AFM,

My FET was cancelled. My lining decreased to 5.9 and I went from a faint tri linear to I guess not where it needs to be. The nurse advised me to stop all medication except the PIO which I need to take until Friday. I was also advised to restart the Lupron until I get my period and then that will determine my next FET.  :'(

Now I’m just debating if I want to do drink all those glasses of wine I have given up these past few months lol UGH the STRUGGLE :s   :#

  • @msldyc23 ugh I’m so sorry to hear your FET was canceled 😞 it’s such a frustrating journey. I say have some drinks!! You deserve it! I had a few last weekend 🤭 totally worth it lol

AFM I am starting progesterone injections tonight 😖 as well as an antibiotic (z-pack) and steroids (prednisone), and continuing estrogen pills. Anyone else ever take all of that before a FET? The antibiotic and steroid are new for this round - I only did progesterone injections and estrogen pills last round. I have a follow up bloodwork appt on Wednesday and apparently my transfer is now happening Saturday 😳 I’m excited that it’s moved up but also not sure I’m fully mentally prepared for another 2ww. After my last wait I swore I would be more chill for this next round ... we’ll see how that goes.
  • @msldyc23 Oh no... I’m so sorry ☹️. This whole thing is so unpredictable and sucks big time. Are they going to change your protocol now?
And I don’t think my RE will change anything for me, I think it’s their standard...ugh I’ll ask though again.
@kam174 yes I was on antibiotics and medrol back in the days, not this time around. I think steroid prevent any type of inflammation.
  • @dukie001 I totally get your apprehension about the one monitoring appointment. Any chance of them adding more? Or are they just going to base their decision on whatever they see?

@msldyc23 I’m so sorry your FET got cancelled. I support you having a couple of glasses of wine! Hopefully your next round goes better for you!

@kam174 Welcome to the December crowd! I’m also on a steroid, Decadron, but this is for full IVF with ER, and I have no idea how different the medications are? I just take what they tell me to take when they tell me to take it lol

AFM, I have done exactly one day of Gonal F and Luveris and I am already having to remind myself that things (well, mostly people) are not as annoying as I think they are... luckily I’m working from home tomorrow and Friday so I only have to not be a rage monster for two more days this week but I think it’s going to be rough. DH has been warned!
  • @msldyc23 go nuts!! Have allll the wine. Do it.

@kam174 2ww is rough, try to stay busy and keep your mind occupied :) buy a good book or pick up an old hobby, binge Netflix... anything to keep your mind off of how slowly time seems to pass in the 2ww. FX’d that rogue follicle doesn’t get in the way.

AFM: ER happened this morning, they got 15 eggs! Will find out tomorrow evening how many fertilized.

Overall the procedure was tolerable... left ovary was only a slight discomfort, the right one was less accessible so I was crying out and whimpering like a sad puppy through that one... I did feel a slight buzz from the meds but they didn’t do much, just took the edge off and made my teeth stop chattering. The nurses held my hands and talked to me to keep me distracted which helped a lot.

Since it’s a freeze all, we have to do a mock cycle to see if I can do an unmedicated FET, so no more excitement until February. It’s such a drag, after having spent the last three weeks so involved in the process. I’m going to try to focus on my health and wellness, channel my energy toward building a nice cozy home for an embaby.

  • @PrettyPalomino congrats on your 15! That’s a great number 🙂
  • Thanks ladies I appreciate the support  <3

@kam174 Well wishes w/ your upcoming appointment, its good they are checking right before your transfer. Does your clinic only transfer on certain days? I hate that mine have a “surgery” day. I feel like they align my cycle w/ their schedule. Also, I had the Medrol but not w/ an antibiotic. I will ask my RE about it, don’t hurt to inquire.

@dukie001They didn’t really say what protocol I would be on next, the nurse just said that I am to call them when I get a period. So, I’m hoping it start soon.

    @sawasap
Ha- Tell me about it, I blame all my emotions on the medication. Enjoy your remote days and try to relax.

@PrettyPalomino Wow 15!!  that’s amazing girl, FC  they all fertilized and so sorry to hear about your retrieval experience, ugh you needed the medication that put you out. Hang in there, time is flying.

  • @sawasap this is the first time with this RE, so it’s all super new to me. I’ll ask to add one more right before FET, I just don’t know if they agree to one more. We’ll see.
And I totally understand the mood change. A lot of things annoy me right now but at work there is no other choice but to stay professional and at home my husband takes couple hits here and there like a champ and then I try to control myself.
@PrettyPalomino 15 follicles is great! But I’m shocked that they didn’t put you out for this procedure. You are a trooper to be awake for it!!!!

  • @msldyc23 thank you!!! My original FET day was a weds and now switched to Saturday,  so it seems that they do FET most days - but typically towards the afternoon. All blood work and sono appts are in the mornings. It’s a huge place though, so maybe they’re able to be more accommodating because they have a large staff?

You guys ... I just realized that we used the wrong needle for our last round of progesterone shots 🤦🏼‍♀️ unreal. The bigger one is apparently for drawing up the meds and the smaller one is for injecting. We did it backwards last round 😫😂 No wonder we had so much trouble getting the meds into the syringe last time. I have to laugh or I’ll cry 😆 this is why they shouldn’t let amateurs play with needles!! Lol
  • @PrettyPalomino were you awake during the embryo retrieval?  They put me to sleep and I'm thankful for it since I have a hard to reach ovary as well.   It's a little painful afterward but I couldn't imagine being awake for it.   Congrats on your 15 eggs.   Hopefully most make it to blast.

AFM only 1 of my embryos made it to blast and its a hatching blast CC so it's on to my next round of stimming which probably won't be until January at least because I don't want to do it over the holidays.
  • @PrettyPalomino 15 follicles!! That’s great! FX for lots of little blastos 😊 I will also be awake for the ER (they call it conscious sedation, so I’m not sure how aware I will be). Hope you’re feeling better today!

@dukie001 Yup, when I’m in the office, I have to figure out how to be professional. My biggest problem is controlling my face, which is why working at home helps - no one can see me roll my eyes.

@kam174 Oh no! I’m always so nervous with these injections and I’m sure I’m doing something wrong... I just keep watching the instruction videos over and over and hope I remember everything right
  • edited December 2020
Y’all. I’m freaking the F out. Out of 15 eggs, 15 were mature and 15 fertilized. Yeah. If that’s not a miracle I don’t know what is. (ICSI with Lupron trigger).  I could cry I’m so happy.

No so good: I’m having symptoms of severe OHSS, just waiting for the RE to call me back to see if they want me in now or if they want to wait a day and see if things calm down on their own. I gained 5lbs overnight and despite drinking a ton of water, not much output... also very dizzy and unbearably bloated. (Update: got checked out, they don’t suspect OHSS as of yet, they think the bloating and weigh gain is from not enough urinary output so will keep an eye on me daily instead).

For those asking about the sedation situation, yes my clinic does “conscious sedation”, something to do with regulations about how far away from a hospital they are, not allowed to actually put patients under. So yeah the ER is one heck of an experience. They give fentanyl, so doesn’t really take away the pain but it changes your attitude towards it 😂

  • @PrettyPalomino I hope you feel better now ❤️. And FC 🤞🏻for a lot of good grade blasts.
@kam174 girl... I don’t know how you took it that huge needle 🥴 just the look of it gives me goosebumps. And good luck on Saturday!

AFM I had my lining check today. It’s at 8 and tri-. Will wait on nurse call with Estradiol levels. If all is good will have transfer next Friday. I also asked about the only one screening prior to transfer and was told it’s just the new COVID rule to avoid overcrowded waiting rooms
  • Just got the news that E2 is at 850 and linings confirmed at 8, so I’ll do FET next Friday. Starting PIO in 2 days...yey fun stuff
  • @dukie001 - great news on the Transfer! I just had my final lining check today too and was at a 9 so I did my HCG trigger tonight and will start prometrium suppositories Sunday night. Since I am doing a modified natural cycle I don't have to do PIO this time! I am sure they will likely do more bloodwork to ensure my progesterone is high enough (hopefully). We can be transfer buddies!! I am transferring on Thursday!

Dr. Said my levels are good to go for transfer on Saturday. But my progesterone is like 0.375 as of Monday. I swore I wouldn’t make myself crazy Googling this time - but does that seem right?? I thought they want it higher than 8, or maybe that’s after the transfer. Ugh. Need a degree to understand all of this stuff lol

@ladyp0tter nice lining! I think the thickest I’ve ever had was 8.4. Since you triggered with HCG will it show up if you test prior to beta or is it supposed to go down and then go back up after implantation? This week will be nerve racking.... and then the dreaded TWW.
@kam174 tomorrow is the day!!! Good luck to you! I’ll be thinking about you and send you all the good energy 💕
edit: I have no idea about progesterone levels, but if the doctor is satisfied with the levels then don’t worry. They went to school for it for like 15 years 😁 so I’m sure they know what they are doing vs us doing quick internet search 😁 and drawing conclusions from it.
  • @dukie001 - yes, it shows up already. My coordinator told me to test this morning to make sure the trigger worked... I would say so:

She said it should last 3-4 days, but others online say up to 9-10 days (which would be 3 days post transfer). So I will test again the day of Transfer to make sure it is gone or light, so I don't get confused WHEN a + DOES show up!! :-)

Just had my first monitoring appointment... 9 follicles between 9mm and just over 15mm! And my lining is already at 8.4. I reacted so slowly to the meds when I did IUI so I really wasn’t expecting this. Looks like my ER could be as soon as Wednesday!
  • Woo hoo! You are ahead of the curve then. Lol. Hope they keep growing well and growing evenly :)
  • @sawasap that’s great that this time you are responding better! Let good news keep coming.
@ladyp0tter what is modified natural cycle? I heard about natural and medicated, but not modified. Is it something in between with less meds?
  • @kam174 How did your transfer go? How are you feeling?
  • @dukie001 thanks for the well wishes ☺️ Transfer yesterday went well, I think. Had a different doctor this time and he got the catheter in on the first try (my first FET the dr. Had a bit of trouble). We did 2 embies this time, and I decided to be a full-blown couch potato this time too. The nurse had a Disney station blasting on the radio so I was cracking up during prep and after the procedure 😆 she was very funny. Husband had to wait in the car so it was nice to have a fun staff ☺️

How are you doing with the injections? 😬

@kam174 It’s good that you have good vibes! And I think being a couch potato is essential for the implantation 😁 I’m planning on sitting under the blanket and watching movies. Husband is taking on everything else 🤣.
Injections....oh God. Today was my first PIO day. And my butt can’t forgive me, it still hurts even when I walk. I don’t remember it hurting that much last time I went through it. But also now my dose doubled to 2ml, may be that’s the reason. Tomorrow I’m applying heat afterwards.
  • @dukie001 ugh sorry about the injections. They are not fun, but at least it means your moving right along! I think at this point my butt is numb to all of it 😆 so maybe you’ll get to that point soon enough lol
  • @kam174 I’m glad you feel good about the implantation! Being a couch potato is a great plan.

@dukie001 I’m not sure yet if they’ll have me on PIO, Prometrium, or Endometrin (or even if they’re all just different names for the same thing?) and now I’m so worried for my butt 😂 My stomach is a lovely constellation of injection sites though, so probably a good thing if I can inject somewhere else on my body for a change
  • @sawasap they are all progesterone. My old protocol had all three at once but only 1ml of PIO, this new doctor believes that pills and vaginal inserts have less effect, so he just prescribed me PIO but 2ml. Go figure 🤷🏻‍♀️
@kam174 yeah I know the filling, my previous transfer I was putting 2 needles everyday there was no clear spot on my butt. Hang on, hopefully you are getting pregnant so you can enjoy the shots for another 2 months 😄
  • @dukie001 I tested morning of my transfer and got a negative so I would try that. If it's positive I wouldn't test at home and would wait for beta. Good luck for Friday, fingers crossed!! The needles are killing me, PIO super sucks. Hang in there!
