  • Good luck @mindyb2019. I hope you find something to distract yourself enough for the next week. 🤞
  • @mindyb2019 ugh! That's so frustrating! I don't know if I'd switch because this Ob knows your history but also I wouldn't blame you if you decided to switch. Take it easy the next few days! Fingers crossed for good news from the NIPT!!

  • Wow. That’s a lot to take in for you! I too see why you would switch but maybe sit tight and wait for your results and see how she reacts to them before making a change. She might surprise you with how she proceeds. But it’s scary when it’s your body and your doctor doesn’t seem confident.
  • @mindyb2019 that sounds so infuriating!  If you've been seeing this doctor for a long time, maybe she's just having a bad week?  Personally, I might at least look around and do a consult, especially if you're at a point where you're questioning how much you trust her.  Hope you get to relax and enjoy the weekend now at least!

@mindyb2019 oh man what a visit!! You saw your cervix?? 😯 I'm not going to lie, that sounds kinda cool but also way wtf. For switching I think go with your gut. I have one Dr who always thinks outloud during exams- I usually don't mind it bc she's pretty funny and we usually have light hearted chats during my visit, and she's wonderful with my pgal anxiety. On the other hand, there's been two times when she doesn't like something she sees/feels and hearing her reaction in real time freaks me out a bit. Edited bc I forgot where I was going with this: also I sound 90 now: is she one of those people that just thinks out loud?
  • @_orchid_ ya I did see my cervix on a big TV screen in front of me. It was really weird and trippy. Kinda cool but Kinda wtf and gross at the same time 😆 Looks rather interesting. Its sorta one of those things like a train wreck. You don't really want to look but cant help it haha. Hmm, i don't know. That's a good question. Maybe she is one of those people that thinks out loud lol if she is, it still kinda freaks me out. I could handle it if it was funny comments or banter back in forth but its not. She makes my PGAL anxiety worse.
  • @mindyb2019 that sounds incredibly frustrating, maybe she’s the type to say every thought in her mind but it sure doesn’t help with PGAL. Maybe next time tell her that her confusion makes you a bit nervous given your history. If nothing changes, I wouldn’t stick around either!
  • @mindyb2019 I think you have your answer there- you should feel 100% comfortable with your ob and if she's making your anxiety worse- KNOWING and being a part of your history- I think I would start looking. It can't hurt to mention it to her like @wendy838 suggested, but I think I'd have one foot out the door. Fwiw I switched obs after my first loss in 2012- my loss started over a holiday weekend, and the staff and Dr didn't GAF about me or the major hole in their communication system that occurred that weekend (long story). I stayed with her until my hcg was out of my system and told the Dr her bedside manner was terrible at my penultimate appt. She ended up apologizing, but it was too late. All the providers where I am now are compassionate and very warm, so I'm very happy I made that choice.
  • @mindyb2019 I switched primary docs awhile ago because I realized that once I questioned how she handled one thing (she ended up being wrong, btw) I was going to have a doubt about everything else. Wasn’t worth it to feel like I couldn’t trust her/had to second guess/had to do my own research, even though she was super nice.
  • @mindyb2019 I'm sorry your are so stressed. No advice, but I would say if things don't get better, don't feel badly about switching in the middle of a pregnancy. I know lots of women who have done so. The doctor that does your annual pap smear could be great for that, but may not be great for pregnancy.

@kristah2 and @klj0228 I'm measuring for 5/31 as well. They said they don't change it unless there is a 10-day difference at my practice. I was measuring 10/31 for my pregnancy with DS, but I stayed with N14. I had just spent 6-8 weeks getting to know people, and I didn't want to switch. Don't leave us!

  • @MelissaMay82 that is a loooong day! Glad you were able to see baby and that everything was looking good. Rest and drink a lot of water tonight to make up for all that blood they took!!
  • So antsy for my 12 week ultrasound/appt on Monday. And bummed because they just sent an alert out last week that visitors are no longer able to join so my husband can’t come like we originally thought :(
  • @kaw726 GL on Monday for your ultrasound. I hope all looks good. Will be thinking of you. I’m sorry that your husband can’t come now :( That sucks. I know the feeling cause mine can’t come to any of mine either.
  • @kaw726 same. My US is Monday, too, and I’m super bummed that my H missed our intake appointment (thought he couldn’t come, but apparently he could've) since they did a US there and no who knows if he’ll get to go to any?

Based on your pic and the timing, I have to ask, are you in WA?
  • I have an US tomorrow too and I’ll be solo. Everything is shutting down again here in LA County. It’s definitely a bummer. It makes everything so lonely.
  • @mc0303 ugh that is a bummer. Same thing with us, our appointment was right after we moved into a red zone so they became more strict on the rules. See if they’ll print you extra US pictures to share with your hubby. GL on your appointment tomorrow.
  • @ruemcclanahan That is amazing news! It is so good to be over those milestones when it has been a long road getting there. Way to go on those TSH numbers! What is the game plan for your nausea and vomiting? My OB today was like you are gaining weight, so not I’m not worried, try not to take the meds if you can stand being miserable. Blah. Not my favorite advice. I want to feel better!

AFM: we had OB appointment today for 12 week. Baby boy is measuring almost a week ahead now at 13+2, heart rate of 164. He was flipping all over the place. And for the first time at the OB my blood pressure was normal! Usually I am so worried when I go, it is super high. Didn’t get a solution for my morning sickness that has gotten worse the last few weeks. Next appointment is now a month out!
  • @ruemcclanahan thats amazing news!! So happy for you.Im glad your TSH is going down. If you don't mind me asking..what is your dose of meds you take everyday? Cause my TSH is actually going up this pregnancy, so I think I need to change my dose and up it. I was at a 1.31 and now im up to 2.20 in 3 months. I dont want it to keep climbing so im worried.
  • @mindyb2019 thank you! Definitely was a bummer but just had him FaceTime in the whole time. Everything looked great but they said I have a slightly heart shaped uterus which is so interesting since that never got called out for my first pregnancy. Can your uterus change shape? Haha so I guess having that can sometimes mean you will have an incompetent cervix that will start to shorten, so they’re having me to do an ultrasound at my 16 week appt to measure and make sure it’s not. Don’t think that’ll be the case though.

@halfanewt yes! Are you? I live 30 min north of the city. Sounds like your US went well! I had the same issue with having to poke around to get baby to sit in the right angles to take pics haha

  • @kaw726 yep! A bit north of the city as well. Hi neighbor!
  • @halfanewt that’s so cool! Small world. I’m in Bothell. We will have to stay in touch throughout!

At first I was at 25 and then they upped it to 75 when I got that 18 reading. And I've been on 88mcg since early November!

Stuck in a box?? But right now they added promethazine and upped my dose of Zofran. She said if it doesn't get better by the end of the week she wants me to start getting IV fluids at home until we can get this under control
