@FuzzyDust I actually just had a convo with my doc about this today because she asked me if I’d consider a LEEP after this pregnancy. She mentioned there’s a lot of new information that suggests that a typical LEEP does not increase your risk for pre-term birth as much as they had previously thought and that actually a lot of LEEP patients actually have a harder time dilating. I’ll see if she can point me to any articles
How’d you find out? A couple days late for my period, same thing happened with my DS. So I just waited, I'm not in a rush. After 2 weeks missed bought a test. (Total epic fail, peed all over it and was invalid. 😅 Only took the test to prove it to my spouse. The second I peed in a cup.
Other children? Son, 1, Sept 2019
Job? SAHM
Things you like to do? be outside, cook/bake, knit/crochet, read, destress on youtube.
Spouse/partner? Married since Dec 2018
First appointment? Not in a rush, probably will wait a month to schedule it.
Any symptoms? Not really. Craving water again. But also breastfeeding, so could be because of that.
High risk / concerns?I would like to have VBAC, but there will only be 20 months between births. First was a breech baby and I am 33 and healthy. I'm worried because I'm in an area where they believe, once cesarean always a cesarean. So basically I can't get an epidural and have to go to the hospital in late stage pregnancy 7-8cm dilation or they'll force me to have a C-section regardless of my risk.
Also, with covid I'm not in a rush to go to appointments. But I want to go to enough to ensure the health of my baby.
Need to be super prepared for this pregnancy. Hence joining the month group, so I can get some advice that isn't in Spanish.
@knottie141f0e4f515b9b93 welcome!! Please consider updating your username so we can get to know you better! It's hard to keep track of the knottie names 😊
How’d you find out? Woke up around 3am one day feeling super nauseous and thought oh god, I’m pregnant. We had been trying so it was a happy thing.
Other children? Son, 21 months, January 2019
Job? CPA (noticed a few others on here too!)
Things you like to do? Hiking, Gardening, drinking Scotch (I miss you so much...)
Spouse/partner? Husband
First appointment? 10/20 - last time I was seen sooner than week 8. Maybe covid related?
Any symptoms? So Many Symptoms. I’ve been in bed most of the weekend with nausea and vomiting. Extreme fatigue. Bloating. Diarrhea. I hate pregnancy but I’m looking forward to another squishy baby.
High risk / concerns? I’m classified as “elderly” and last time I missed that mark by 3 months. I still did all of the genetic testing so we will see if any protocols are different this time.
In my last BMB I was one of the first due dates and now I’m last - this will be so different!
Due Date? May 13 How did you find out? I felt different, and we were about to go camping (aka drinking in the woods) so I took a test, and lo and behold, I got a strong positive. Other children, or pets? A dog, Northern blue tongue skink, tarantula, and a 9gal nano fish tank. Job? VR arcade technician Things you like to do? Crochet, cooking, video games, spoiling my beloved pets. Spouse? Hubby and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary this past summer, but we've been together for 10 years. First appointment? First ultrasound was today, first maternity appointment is October 21. Any symptoms? Hungry, all the time!!! Weird dreams, tender breasts, nausea, very emotional, tired, cramps, food tastes different. High risks/concerns? I've had two previous early miscarriages, so I was nervous about this one. But the ultrasound showed my baby is further along than I thought, and a strong heartbeat. I'm still not telling my family or friends until Christmas!
Lurking from June 2021 because I am due early June, but I am a c-section mom who also goes into labor early each time, so could deliver the end of May. Its kind of awesome to have two groups to potentially seek support from.
Due date? June 6-10 (6th based on LMP, 10th based on date I think I conceived.
How’d you find out? Serial tester. Good old peeing on sticks until I saw a line
Other children/pets? DS June 2015, DS2 April 2018, a brand new Aussiedoodle Puppy named Leia, an old man mutt named Dexter.
Job? Clinical Research Coordinator
Things you like to do? Interior decorating
Spouse/partner? Married 9/2013
First appointment? TBD
Any symptoms? some fatigue, tender nipples
High risk / concerns? Not high risk, but have had 2 early losses in the past, so I am always concerned early in the game. I guess somewhere between 5 and 6 weeks today with not too many symptoms of anything being in there, so optimistic, but nervous.
How’d you find out? I was having insomnia when I never usually have trouble sleeping. Found out really early at around 4 weeks because of this.
Other children/pets? This will be my first!
Occupation: Optometrist
Things you like to do? Yoga, swimming, traveling
Spouse/partner? Married since 2017
First appointment? First appt was Sept 23 and had my first sonogram done. Had the Natura Panorama test done this week and have my next appt next week. Excited to find out the results!
Symptoms: Nausea all the time 😞 Needing to pee a lot. Fatigue.
High risk / concerns: Had a miscarriage in May so I’ve been really hesitant to really come to terms with this pregnancy until it advances further.
If possible, you should consider changing your generic username to something that's unique to you - it will help us get to know you and keep track of your posts and progress! Also, there is a weekly PGAL (Pregnant After a Loss) check-in board with a wonderful support group of women that may help you as you process your current pregnancy. It brings on a wide range of emotions for sure. Look forward to getting to know you!
Due date: May 11 (counting from ovulation day, not LMP)
How did you find out?: Positive test the day after missed period!
Other children/pets: No kids yet, 1 dog who I love to pieces. He’s going to be the best big brother!
Job: manager for a startup
Things you like to do: I love to bake. Also love to hike and be outside with my husband and dog.
Spouse/partner: Married 2018
First appointment: September 30 and it went well! Got an ultrasound too and baby’s heart rate was 183 at 8w.
Any symptoms: Exhaustion all day and insomnia at night, GI discomfort, slight nausea, food aversions, extreme moodiness, cry all the time. And my boobs are huge and sore. First trimester is no joke! Only a few more weeks!
High risks/concerns: I have factor V Leiden, a clotting disorder. So I started injections of Lovenox (blood thinner) in September once betas confirmed a pregnancy. Also they found a 2cm subchorionic hematoma on my ultrasound. Doctor is optimistic and not concerned, but we’ll see whether it has gotten worse or better on my Nov 5 ultrasound. I’m nervous, but trying to stay hopeful.
Welcome @ccmrc143! I'm on lovenox too, so I feel your pain (literally, ha). Do you get bruising on your stomach? Mine seem to be hit or miss!
I had a subchorionic hematoma as well this pregnancy, it was about 1cm. Follow-up appt. showed it didn't get any bigger and my doc said those can be very common in early pregnancy. No one seemed too worried, so I'd try not to be if they aren't! Easier said then done sometimes!
How did you find out?: Took an early response 9/18 and got a super light positive, confirmed a week later around LMP and got a BFP
Other children/pets: 6 year old girl from April 2014 TBB, a moomoo cat, and our Goldilocks dog
Job: Accountant/data analytics
Things you like to do: Hike, theater, music, write, read, go to concerts, paint, there’s nothing I wouldn’t try at least once (except skydive ooph)
Spouse/partner: Engaged 9/5/20 (pretty sure the day we got pregnant 😅). My 7th grade emo-boy crush, realized after we started dating that we grew up 2 streets from each other and never knew.
First appointment: Telehealth-10/9, first in person 10/20
Any symptoms: All of them! Everything’s achey, my boobs are swollen and bumpy (milk ducts) and so sore, constantly tired, nauseas, can’t sleep, moody, bloated, constipated, but also dying for signature weird preggo foods
High risks/concerns: I have occasional low blood pressure and am prone to fainting, and my daughter had shoulder dystocia during my vaginal delivery which is a concern for this baby
Wow @ruby0902 Lovenox and SCH in common! I’m sorry you’re also on this painful journey, but happy to have a buddy! Yes, the shots have been giving me so many bruises. And they sting. I’ve been moving away from my stomach toward lower back fat because it is less painful, but still so terrible. I’m seeing a hematologist in a few weeks and will ask for tips to avoid bruising—if I learn anything helpful I will let you know. That is fantastic news that your hematoma didn’t grow!!!
@ccmrc143 - I use an ice cube to numb the area out first and then try to apply slow, even pressure as I'm pushing the injection in. Not 100% foolproof but seems to help a lot!
How’d you find out? Blood test two weeks after transfer of donated embryo.
Other kids/pets? One 4yo son, May 2016; two cats, one dog:)
Job? Professor (I’m a medievalist historian)
Hobbies? Gardening, crocheting, doomscrolling
Spouse? Married almost 7 years, together for 10.
First appt? Heard a heartbeat via ultrasound on 10/2, next scan 10/16.
Symptoms? Sooooo tired!!! I just want to sleep all the time:( Concerns? We struggled with unexplained secondary infertility for three years, and then we used an embryo donation for a November 2020 baby that we lost at 7 weeks. This is our second attempt at ED and our first PGAL, and I’m nervous. I’m also more stressed out than I’ve been in a while: work is twice as demanding as it ever has been for me, DH is losing his job because of COVID cutbacks, and we are moving across the country in December to be closer to DHs family so they can help with childcare. I love where we are moving to and I love DHs family, but I *also* love where we are now—I love my house, my garden, being only an hour away from my dad, and the rich diversity of the area we live in, not to mention it’s near where I grew up. Sorry for the dump—we are really very lucky, and I’m grateful for everything we have, I’m just exhausted and lamenting the things we’re losing/have lost. My mom died a few years ago of leukemia and I can’t stop thinking of how life would be if she hadn’t gotten sick: She would have been able to take care of our son during this pandemic and I know we wouldn’t be moving... “what if’s and buts,” right? Lol, sorry for over sharing!
I’m sorry for all that loss you’re dealing with. I hope this pregnancy is a happy and healthy one. We have a thread for high risk and another for pregnancy after a loss. I hope you’ll jump in. We have a pretty supportive group here. I hope the move near your husbands family is a smooth transition and you’re able to find your footing quickly. ❤️

@dshannah glad you’re here with us. I lost my mom when I was 5 years old and pregnancy/birth brings about a whole new process of grieving. I know what it feels like to know that your mom should be there with you, helping with childcare like everyone’s else’s does. If you’re looking for a good book I recently read Motherless Mothers and really really liked it.

I’m so sorry—I can’t even imagine. I’ll take a look at that book!
Hi everyone, I introduced myself on here last week as a lurker from June because I'm due early June and will be a repeat c-section. I just found out this morning I am having twins, so I'm thinking I will definitely be delivering in May. Anyone else here expecting multiples?
@mrs_massie yay fellow twin mama! There’s one more here that I know of but cannot for the life of me remember her username to tag her. I’ll have to look later!
@gusgus14 yay very exciting! I posted in my June group and it is early for us due in June so not many have had ultrasounds yet, but the few people that posted didn't really reassure me...kind of made me more afraid lol. I'm glad we can connect. Is there a moms to multiples thread doing in May 2021 BMB, i dont think I saw one.
@mrs_massie we only have 2 lovely ladies on this BMB expecting twins so no dedicated Multiples thread, but so happy to have you back here if you want to hang out with us!
@mrs_massie no dedicated thread since there’s only a couple of us but happy to connect! I’m pretty freaked out myself and still processing and I found out about a month ago I just keep telling myself other people have done this so it’s got to be possible. Just going to have to figure out what works!
How’d you find out? 7 days after late period, I got bfp with a very faint line. I kept testing and it got clearer and clearer.
Other children/pets? First pregnancy. 2 cats!
Job? Library clerk.
Things you like to do? Hiking, swimming, napping, kitties, plants!
Spouse/partner? Married in 2020!
First appointment? September 15.
Any symptoms? Nausea and vomiting :( fatigue.
High risk / concerns? None except I am overweight. But all tests were good, no gestational diabetes (yet). Doctor doesn't seem worried, I'm just going to watch my weight gain.
Due date? May 30th but pretty sure this baby will be late!
How’d you find out? I was tracking my ovulation through LH levels so at 9dpo I took a test and was surprised with a BFP!
Other children? Son, 4th October 2018
Job? Special Educator and Case Manager
Things you like to do? Walk in the forrest, watch or listen to true crime documentaries, gardening.
Spouse/partner? Married since Dec 2014
First appointment? Yesterday (27th Oct.) and first ultrasound today! (28th Oct.) Strong heartbeat!
Any symptoms? All the nausea, exhaustion, sensitive nose and thus a lack of appetite.
High risk / concerns? No indicators, no previous MC, no health concerns but high anxiety and worried the worst is yet to come (my mother MC twice between her first and second child so I feel due for two)
@bex_and_her_baby Welcome!! My mom had *tw* two MCs *tw* before her first, so I was worried too, but (thank G-d) I have never had an MC. I know it's a lot easier said than done, but you should try not to worry, there are no indications that MCs are hereditary.
@bex_and_her_baby you saw a healthy heartbeat so that's already great news! *TW* my mom had so many miscarriages she lost count, I had 4 spread across all 3 of healthy pregnancies, and my sister had none before her first healthy pregnancy. MC can happen to anyone but I don't think I'd say you're due for one❤
I'm hesitantly joining after lurking for a bit as I had a few previous early 1st tri MC's. Things seem better this go round, so fingers crossed I'll be around for a bit 😊
Due date? May 31st
How’d you find out? BFP day after missed period
Other children? None, just one fur baby, a 9 year old chocolate lab.
Things you like to do? Hiking, reading, crafting, hanging out with hubby and our dog.
Spouse/partner? Married since Sept 2018
First appointment? I've had a bunch already, including a few ultrasounds due to spotting and my previous MC's. Got to hear a nice strong HB already, so that was really reassuring. Next apt is Nov 16th for another ultrasound.
Any symptoms? Spotting, cramping, mild nausea, etc... Pretty much got them all in some version, but thankfully all mostly pretty mild.
High risk? Sorta... Multiple previous MC's have my Dr. Being pretty cautious this time around. I'm getting to do those wonderful progesterone suppositories to hopefully help things keep chugging along.
