August Symptoms

Re: August Symptoms

  • @surlyjaneausten luckily and probably thanks to the baby aspirin I haven’t had much swelling in my feet this time. Last time I had to buy shoes a size larger and they still did didn’t fit! I ended up only being able to wear flip flops from about 5months on. If you can do so elevate your feet during the day and either go barefoot or wear Non binding shoes.

@teachingbp I had a hot flash the other day I felt like I was on fire!

I’ve been getting leg cramps at night. Basically hip to knee. It’s incredibly hard to sleep on my side because of them.

  • @teachingbp  SAAAME! Last night I was dyiiiing
  • @surlyjaneausten when I was working and pregnant I bought all black mesh tennis shoes because they were stretchy with my feet just being wider and swelling. It was business casual with tennis shoes. I don't know if that would help you or not.
  • @potofgolden yup.... I feel like I am peeing all the time especially if I walk. I can only do a mile walk because by the end I am like I HAVE TO GO!
  • @surlyjaneausten my ankles too have disappeared 😭 I had major foot/ankle swelling with my first pregnancy and DH bought me a little home foot spa. An epsom salt bath often helped. Guess it’s time to break it back out

and oh, the holy heartburn. I find the best cure is some ice cream after meals 🤷‍♀️
  • @doublestroller I'm on board for trying ice cream after meals 😂 this heart burn has been awful.

We are leaving for a road trip in a few weeks so I bought some compression socks online. Definitely way too small, I'll probably do more harm by cutting off all circulation if I tried squeezing into them 😅 with DS I didnt swell until after delivery, and I havent noticed any swelling yet *knock on wood*. The main symptoms kicking my butt right now is the heart burn and back pain :/
  • I've been feeling like I can't breath when I lay down at night. For a long time now I've been sleeping on one side or the other becaise I knew laying flat on my back could make it hard to breath but I'm wondering if baby is squishing my lungs or something? The last two nights I've ended up propping myself up with 3 or 4 pillows so i can breath enough to sleep.
  • I’m starting to be really HOT at night to the point I have to have my air on 68 and absolutely no clothes or blankets. My poor family is sleeping in winter pajamas lol. My hands also go really numb when I’m sleeping, once I move them around it’s fine but it’s so strange.

  • I am definitely for any ice cream after meals 😁😁

Numb hands sound like no fun @wychets.
  • So I posted about my ice cream cure, then almost immediately started feeling the effects of my lasagna dinner, and only then realized I had finished my ice cream the night before! It’s on the urgent shopping list for today

also, I didn’t heed all the warnings on sex, and for me, I get the worst leg cramps afterwards. In addition to feeling the weight and soreness of the extra blood flow down there. So now I’m walking the aisles of the grocery store on my ice cream hunt, having to pause every few steps to bend over and stretch. And just grunt and moan. It’s lovely
  • @doublestroller ugh yeah it is an auto need to relax for a bit after...
  • I was just checking here for heartburn cures and now I'm very curious about the ice cream lol. Will have to try that out... it's so bad for me lately!

Also always needing to go pee.

@wychets my sleep is very similar! Last night I slept without any blankets and MH was under a comforter! Also numb hands and arms. Weird thing is it's not always the arm I'm leaning on when I sleep on my side, sometimes it's the one on top.
  • @wychets YES!!! Me too!!! I woke up DRENCHED the other night. I sleep with MAYBE a sheet on my feet, and a t-shirt.  Upside is, it’s just me and hubby for now and he loves it cold when he sleeps so he doesn’t mind our thermostat being so low. And I feel like I play the “which hand is going to go numb/fall asleep first” game all night too 😂😂. But I also sleep with my hands tucked under my chin usually so it’s not ENTIRELY inconceivable that I’m having that issue now.
  • @warmwinter my fingers almost always fall asleep if I have a hand resting on top of me. Apparently my blood circulation can’t handle anything higher than my heart these days.

I had a fun experience today (major sarcasm). Took my dog for a walk and thought the shorts I picked we're just uncomfortable, but turned into dull period-like cramps. Got home and spent the next hour or two in the bathroom and trying not to throw up. Cramps started getting more intense so I called our hospital and they said to come in to get assessed. Tested for a few things (still waiting to hear if there's any infections going on), but they chalked it up to dehydration! Such scary symptoms from something so simple. Feeling better now aside from just having had a crappy day.

I can also 100% relate to the overheating ladies! Sleeping has been rough for that, but we ditched our big duvet comforter and it seems to help.

I also seem to have developed what my chiropractor thinks is costochondritis, which basically feels like a strong achy almost burning feeling where your rib meets the cartilage that attaches to your sternum. I feel the pain deep in my left boob mainly so of course when that wakes you up in the middle of the night you think you've got cancer or are having heart trouble 🤦‍♀️ Still going to bring it up with my dr at my next appointment.

One good/fun symptom I can talk about is how much my little man has been moving, especially today! They were tracking it at the hospital and it was like he was trying to get it off my belly; just going nuts
  • @ejj58 ah that sounds like a rough day!
  • Man this heartburn is getting ridiculous. I cannot sleep already but now im waking up every two to three hours with terrible acid reflux. I barely got any sleep last night! I have to find something better then tums 😫😫😫
  • I don’t know about y’all... but Ice cream was a huge heartburn trigger for me while pregnant with DD. I’ve tried to limit it this go around. It doesn’t seem as bad... maybe this baby will be bald.. DD also had a head full of hair.
  • @bserena :( ugh heart burn/reflux was sooooo bad with DD. It hasn't been *knock on wood* too consistently terrible with the twins yet. But when I get it I am soooo miserable. With DD it was every night all night 2nd tri onward.
IIRC my OB okay'd be taking one of the otc acid reflux/heartburn meds but I cannot recall which one. Give your OB a call and ask if there's anything that can help. Or ask a pharmacist whereever you get prescriptions if there are any pregnancy safe ones available 💛

@potofgolden same! Icecream would have killed me with heartburn with DD.

  • @bserena I finally gave in and started taking Prilosec, it has worked miracles!
  • @kitkatz1990 I see my OB Wednesday so will definitely be asking, but last night I caved and took some of my husbands pepcid. I was SO miserable and just had to do something so I could get some sleep! Glad to hear Prilosec works for you!!!
  • I found the best remedy for my restless legs.
  • I'm also peeing constantly! I swear I go then sit down and then have to get back up and go again. Also my pelvis hurts like it’s being stretched.
  • @windywoman ughhh YES! Feels like I have to pee all the time and it'll be just a little dribble 🤦🏻 both babies are breech atm ao pretty sure they think my bladder is a soccer ball and my cervix is a trampoline

  • @windywoman @lurvleybunchococonuts Same! I've gone to pee double the amount of times today than I usually do and all the bathrooms at work are on the second floor...my office is on the first floor. 😫
  • +1 to peeing all the time. I think I peed like 3x before bed and 3x overnight. It's exhausting.
  • @lurvleybunchococonuts +1 for a breech baby using my bladder as a trampoline! I tell my family I swear she’s vindictive, as soon as my bladder gets the teensiest full she goes crazy with the kicks!! I think she gets annoyed it’s taking up her space 😂
  • @bserena @mtengl My midwife recommended Pepcid and I'm taking it over the counter once a day. Acid reflux has been pretty bad for me, to the point where I feel like I can't lie down to sleep, and I have lost a lot of sleep from it. Right now I'm trying to avoid GERD triggers and eating earlier dinners. We'll see how that goes...
  • @1sttimemomma98 DD was headdown and I swear she'd headbutt my bladder nonstop whoch was bad. But the twins kicking it nonstop is brutal 😑

  • 🤦‍♀️ I didn’t even think about all the the peeing having to do with the baby being breach!

@laurenmicheley oh yes he hip pain is terrible! I keep trying stretches but nothing seems to help.
  • @laurenmicheley +1 on the hip pain! I don't  know if it's because I've been trying to stay on my left side or what, but the ache is awful! I don't remember experiencing it with DS. I've also started to notice more of a pinched nerve? feeling when I stand up and start to walk somewhere.
  • @laurenmicheley So much hip pain while sleeping here too! It definitely helps me to sleep with a pillow between my legs.

  • Last week I was worried about Braxton hicks and cramping. Mine turned out to be dehydration too! I feel much better. Stay hydrated ladies! It really sneaks up on us.
