Re: July FET

  • @laurad75 I’ve been lurking for your updates, friend. I’m so sorry ❤️ This has been so rough and I was keeping everything crossed that this embie would stick for you. Sending you hugs ❤️❤️❤️
  • emilynoel810 - I have not had experience with that but I wonder if it's heavier and more painful because your lining was thicker than usual from the meds this cycle?  Not sure, but if you're worried about it or in a lot of pain I would message your RE.  Glad AF arrived quickly and you can move forward though!

@emilynoel810 yes, after each failed/chemical pregnancy my period was AWFUL. You are shedding all the extra lining and detoxing from the drugs. It’s not fun. I used heat pads, arnica oil and Tylenol to help with the pain. 🙏🏻

AFM - Beta #1 is tomorrow. I still haven’t tested. Not a lot of symptoms, some fatigue, nausea and diarrhea 🤦🏼‍♀️ I did have 1 day of spotting, light brown. Not sure what to think...nervous it hasn’t worked, since it’s our 1st PGS normal embryo I though I’d have a TON of symptoms 🤷🏼‍♀️

UPDATE: I just tested and it was positive!! A nice solid double line. Not a squinted!!! 🙏🏻

  • ReesaAnne16 - *Possible TW*  I had a low-ish first beta a few weeks back (32 at 9dp5dt) and went down the google rabbit hole of researching whether I was doomed which just stressed me out more.  My next two betas doubled nicely and as of last week at my early U/S things were looking as they should; I'm still anxious and certainly not in the clear yet but just trying to be cautiously optimistic.  Bottom line is that you aren't going to know anything for sure until you have your next beta (when are they bringing you back?)  I know it's not the number you were hoping for today but don't totally count yourself out quite yet.  What did your clinic say about it? Hugs, this is all so hard.  *End TW*
  • @madasm0530 thank you, that's what need to hear

@c-town18 thank you for sharing your story, that is encouraging to me to know others have had success with lower first betas

My next beta is tomorrow, Wednesday. My doctor says it's just to early to know, but what worries me is that I had a positive HPT 6 days ago now, shouldn't it be higher than 40 by now? I'm out of hpts and it doesn't really matter at this point so just trying to make it through the day. I just don't think we can do another IVF retrieval, emotionally or financially, it's making me so sad.

  • My clinic was happy with 66...they wanted closer to 100, but said I likely implanted later on day 3 or 4. I agree with @c-town18 in that you can have a low beta, but as long as it continues to double, you have hope!

My 2nd beta is tomorrow morning and I am hopeful! Not feeling much different, but everything has been really positive this FET. I firmly believe it's because we've finally used a PGS normal embryo.

@ReesaAnne16 Try not to give up hope!

  • ReesaAnne16 covergirl2985 - Good luck today, girls!  I am SO hoping that you get to hear some good news.
  • Goodluck on Beta's today!!

I posted this in the August FET board... but thought I'd share here and ask my questions as well....

I had my transfer yesterday morning (August 11) and everything went well. One 5BB transferred. At the time of freezing it was graded as 4BB and after thawing it is now a 5BB... any idea what that means? Wrong grading to begin with or did it develop further during the thawing and assisted hatching process? None of my embryos have done that before.

Also just curious, immediately following the embryo transfer what do your RE’s/clinics do? At my clinic the embryologist double checks that the embryo is not in the syringe and tube to confirm transfer, then my RE says “stay laying down for 5 minutes and then you’re good to go”. I’m going to try and take it easy now until beta in 12 days on Sunday August 23rd. Hopefully 3rd tries the charm for baby #2!
  • So exciting @sfield21!  The wait for beta is rough. Will you test before the 23rd?

My clinic is similar that the embryologist checks the syringe but then I just get up and pee.  They do not have me wait 5 minutes.  My clinic offers pre/post acupuncture for transfers so after my transfer I go immediately to acupuncture but its optional.  They do not give me restrictions on movement but recommend low impact exercise.  No restrictions on sex.  I put myself on bed rest for my last transfer but honestly that was just an excuse to go on bed rest for a day.

  • sfield21 - Congrats on being PUPO!  I haven't had the grading change but I have heard of others who have. I don't think it means the first grading was incorrect but rather the embryo continued to develop as it was thawing/once it thawed (I think the change from 4 to 5 means it went from "expanding" to "hatching" but don't quote me on that). Yes, my clinic always checks the catheter afterwards to make sure it is clear.  One time they had me chill out in a chair outside the procedure room for a bit afterwards, but this most recent time they let me pee right away and then leave.  Both stuck so no difference there. They told me to be a "couch potato" for 48 hours and then go back to normal activity as if I'm pregnant (ie no heavy lifting, reduce caffeine, etc) and and no intercourse allowed either for a few weeks.
  • @sfield21 My clinic does the same with checking the tube and then having me rest for about 5 minutes before they let me pee. They said to take it easy for a few days after, and not vigorous exercise or intercourse for 2 weeks.  Also, my embryo grading went the other direction - it was originally a 4aa but at transfer it was a 3aa. Is it possible the freezing caused it to retract? Has anyone had that happen?
  • Hearing everyone's post transfer instructions has me a little jealous.  I would love for a doctor to put in writing that I needed to take it easy for 48 hours and wouldn't mind the 'no intercourse for 2 weeks' either.

  • Hey July crew. Just wanted to post an update on my ultrasound today. I also posted on PAIF so sorry if you're seeing this as a duplicate.

    TW

Back from my ultrasound and it was more eventful than I thought it'd be. We have a healthy babe measuring at 7+2 (I'm 7+3) with a strong heartbeat, but there was an yolk sack measuring at 6+2 so my embryo had split!

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around it. Like I don't feel as sad as I should?

Question for anyone that's experienced this -- is there anything that I should be concerned about with the surviving twin? The internet is a dark place for researching things like this. Is there anything that I should keep my eye out for? The nurse said that there were no concerns moving forward with the pregnancy but just wanting to do my due diligence.

  • madasm0530 - Wow congrats!  So glad that the one is doing well.  I don't have any experience with your situation but I know it's not totally uncommon.  Hopefully someone on the PAIF board had some insight for you (?)
  • I had some heavier spotting yesterday so my ED had me come in for an US this morning...turns out I'm one of the lucky 1% that have an ectopic pregnancy...scheduled to have a methotrexate shot tomorrow to dissolve the embryo...thankfully we found it early @ 6 weeks.
Really, really sucks...Found out it was a boy. I am grateful we have 5 PGS normal embryos left, this will delay my next FET bc of the drug needed to dissolve the embryo. Hopefully not too long.
    Good luck to you ladies!
