Hooray to all the knitters and crocheters, I love seeing the projects! I was going to make a post in the randoms this month to see if anyone was working on anything. I've been crocheting for years but I'm not prolific. I've started 2 hats for the little one (one bumblebee, one elf) but you know, need to finish something before I start on any of the other many patterns I've saved in Ravelry. My WIP pile is out of control. My 2020 goal is to expand into knitting. I need to get on that. For the knitters, any recommendations for a starter project?
I also love to travel. Life goal is to get to at least one new country (or US state) per year till I run out. I'm also a runner - mostly 5Ks, several half marathons and transferred my entry to the Chicago Marathon to 2021 (I would have deferred without COVID cancellation because running my first marathon at 33 weeks pregnant was not going to happen). And I love to cook and eat lots of global food styles, and support my local farmers. I do a lot of reading, love my library and my Kindle. And breweries! Visiting breweries and/or trying local beer is a staple of any travel I do. Or a typical non-COVID, non-pregnant weekend
@asparagusseason honestly the hat pattern I posted would be a good beginners project! It's just making a ribbed rectangle and then you crochet/sew the edge to make a tube and use a tie for the top.
Otherwise you can't go wrong with something like a washcloth

@name1109 hello from a fellow Naked and Afraid fan!
@potofgolden Bulent had DH and I laughing so much! He's so straight forward and what you see is what you get. He would be horrible to work with though lol
Some of my hobbies include cross stitching, cooking, gardening, reading, and spinning. I cross stitched a Christmas stocking for DS (well, it's almost done!) and I'm currently working on one for this baby. I've only just started getting into gardening the past 2 years so I'm very much a newbie but have loved learning as I go and growing fresh veggies! My favorite types of books are sci-fi, fantasy, thrillers, and crime. I'm usually listening to an audiobook and reading a physical copy of a different book at the same time! I'm about to finish Storm Front (audiobook) and A Darker Shade of Magic (physical book)!
My favorite workout is going to a spin class at the gym. I miss it so much! DH got me a bike for our house for Christmas this year (a cheap one) and it has been great.
Green for Georgie 💚 got a bit over 1/2 of the actual knitting for her hat done.

@asparagusseason@lurvleybunchococonuts Here's a hat I copied and it was quite simple. This one looks complicated but it can be knit with all one color! I knit the one on the baby. Maybe hard to see but my niece is cute😉
Cast on 82 on size 3 needles (bigger needles or a cast on a few more for a bigger size. Keep the amount of stictches an even number)
Garter stitch: k2 p2 for 14 rows Continue in stockinette stitch 66 rows or until desired length (patterns if wanted)
Cast off/ stitch together sides and top
Add 3 tassels
@dumbledoredies that reminds me I need to buy this baby a Christmas stocking and still one for DD. I want to buy one with beaded work. My aunt made me one when I was little and I still use it every year and would like to do the same for my girls. I waited to late last year to get one for DD.
@potofgolden awww that stocking is great 😍 I have a friend whose gma made all the kids stockings like that but gma passed away so my friend followed her tradition and made one for her son. It was a LOT of work but it turned out great! If you have no interest/time (totally understandable) to do it yourself from a kit you may have luck finding someone on Etsy?
@babywiik awww cute! I have some fine yarn that needs a project maybe I'll try it out next!

@potofgolden Thanks for the reminder! I need to make one too. I knitted two for H and I a couple of years ago and last year I made one or DD, need to make one for this baby.
After work (430-5ish), I cook, do dishes, clean, get kids ready for bed and then pass out. Sometimes I have a little time to work on my DotDotSmile business.
I forgot to mention one of my other favorite hobbies. I like to play Texas Hold Em. I used to play at friends houses twice a week. I also like to play fantasy football and DraftKings or fan duel. I am not great, but it’s fun. If there is any interest I would be down for a bump league 😁! that’s if we have NFL this year!
@potofgolden I love Texas Hold Em! Along with some other poker games, and spades too. Unfortunately, no one I know where I live now likes to play so I never get to anymore. We do go to casinos fairly often but I am way too intimidated to play there, lol!
@potofgolden I am so down for a bump fantasy football league! DH has a league with some high school/college buddies, but it's pretty competitive! 😆
I don't think I ever posted in this discussion! My hobbies are pretty boring and not crafty at all. I love to read, kindle or in print and watching sports/attending sporting events with DH! We went to a Steelers game last year for my 30th birthday and it was amazing! I've been to other Steeler games, in addition to Penguins and Pirates games. As you can tell we're Pittsburgh loyalists! 🤣
