I've been having bonkers vivid dreams/nightmares the past few nights. MH woke me up the other night to make sure I was alright because I was crying in my sleep. Baby must really be squishing my stomach because my appetite has gotten really weird. I get so full so easily, and am just not very hungry. If I can manage to listen to my body and just eat as much as it wants, I would really not be eating much.
Also, maybe TMI here, but sex is definitely getting more uncomfortable from all the extra blood flow. Afterwards I wind up with hours of BH contractions and so much heavy/painful pressure from all the extra blood flow down there. It's too early for this!

I keep having horrible lower back pain that shoots into my butt muscles every day starting around 3-4pm. It's so crippling 😫 I didnt have this with DS. I dont know how I'm supposed to do it another 15 weeks! I might have to reach out to my doctor. Start doing some stretches. It's almost unbearable at times.
@dumbledoredies I was also getting terrible lower back pain! It's right at the base of my spine on the right side. Sometimes its been so bad i cant put any weight on my right leg because itll just give out on me. Also very painful to cough or sneeze. Anyways, I self diagnosed it as sciatic nerve pain (I had 90% of the symptoms listed on the websites I was looking at🙄) but good news, the stretches recommended have really helped! It would flare up the most when I would go from sitting or laying to standing. Of course always a good idea to check with a professional to be sure though in case it could be something else! I'll be asking my midwife this week at my appt. I hope you can get relief from it soon!!
@hedgepig FFMC, MH & I have had sex once since I've gotten pregnant *facepalm* Kudos to you for still having the energy/desire to go at it. I am either too tired, feeling like crap, or achy to have any interest.

@dumbledoredies you could also look into a maternity support belt, esp if you're on your feet a lot during the day. It doesn't "cure" the lower back/hip pain, but it has been helping to alleviate it/keep it from getting too unbearable. Also look up a seated figure 4 stretch. That one helps a bit with my hips especially.
ETA: Also PT told me to try and sit in chairs (or a stool) w/o armrests (backwards preferably) so you can splay our legs out and lean forward with your belly forward/between your legs and put your weight into the chair back (or a counter top/table/elbows on your knees/whatever). It helps put less pressure on your lower back.

@hedgepig not TMI, trust me as we get further along our TMI doesn't exist. The further I get along the more I feel that way after sex. I normally try to take it easy after sex to decrease the blood flow and stuff. BUT I will say that when I was in my last few weeks my last pregnancy anytime I had sex it would lead to false labor contractions which really helped me to progress and get dilation going, so I won't give up sex for that reason. I do limit it to 3x max each week though so I can space it out and not put too much pressure down there. sorry for my TMI
Heartburn over here, so tired of it. I am taking Tagamet per docs rec and she said if it isn't working out she can prescribe something else and I think I need something more 24hours but it does lead to constipation of the joys of being pregnant!
@lurvleybunchococonuts we have had sex more than once but it definitely hasn't been often! And we used to be 3-4x a week, so it is a big change for us. I just never feel up for it anymore I was hoping my libido would come back after first tri, but no dice. Poor MH, lol.
@dumbledoredies I have been having really bad lower back pain too... I have scoliosis and sciatica even when not pregnant so that doesn't help, but the last couple of weeks it has really gotten worse. I also think working from home isn't helping as I don't have a desk/chair or even couch so I sit on my bed all day. I'll have to try some stretches and stuff too!
@dumbledoredies I was having really bad low back pain and I started going to the chiropractor at the end of June and honestly have been pain free since! Highly recommend!!
@bserena same here! I honestly feel bad for my husband 😂
I had a TMJ flare up this weekend. I could barely open my mouth my jaw hurt so bad and the right side of my face started to turn purple! I had no idea what was going on until I read that these are common during pregnancy and because of increased blood volume, bruising on the face can occur. It only lasted two days, thank goodness! Oh the joys..
My appetite is super weird too, I think the baby is not leaving much room. I’ll eat what seems like a normal sized dinner and it feels like I just went crazy at a buffet. Plus throw some gas bubbles in there for good measure and I just have to lay on the couch. I start the day feeling like a fairly physically normal person and end it feeling like a swollen ballon who can barely walk upstairs.
Also sitting on a hard surface makes me feel like my hip bones are spreading into an unnatural, painful shape. Can’t wait for the third trimester 🙄.
Heartburn... I was watching a game show over the weekend and one of the trivia answers were... chewing gum helps to alleviate HB. I’m going to try this next time I get a flare up during the day.
@hedgepig yes to the uncomfortable amount of blood flow post-sex, and like I cannot make SO understand that it's so uncomfortable .... he just doesn't get it (he cares, he just tries really hard to understand and can't and insists something more is wrong)....
@dumbledoredies YES TO THE LOWER BACK / BUTT / LEG PAIN. It's been happening with me for a few weeks now. It has kept me up crying some nights... I'm waiting on my support band to come in. It's my left side.
@mtengal big facts as there being no such thing as TMI, lol I'm pretty sure I posted about my vagina hurting a few weeks ago - it just happens and many of us are experiencing the same! TMI goes right out the window when you get KU'ed.
@surlyjaneausten same with the appetite, I always feel like I'm starving and then I take a few bites and I'm stuffed... It's really weird, I blame it on the baby.
@potofgolden HB isn't something I get regularly but the few times I did gum did help, I think it has to be minty gum though.
@Ecat504 Yeah that post blood flow is sooo uncomfortable. It gets worse too as I get further along. I am pretty much like once we have sex I am sitting on the couch for a good hour...
O.M.G. these dreams are kicking my ass. I have been woken up by MH the past 3 our of 4 nights because I've been crying in my sleep. Night 1) dreamed we hired a live in nanny and MH took her as a 2nd wife (it was absurd but all the feelings). Night 2) dreamed we were in our home but in a war zone and we had to hide/pack to go on the run and try to escape. Night 3) If I dreamed I don't recall it, THANK GOD! Night 4) dreamed I walked past a room with my older sister's best friend and heard a baby crying. Went to take care of the babe and it was my DD, only as an infant, and for some reason I knew she was mine but apparently I had given her up for adoption to my sister's friend and had to stand by helplessly aching to soothe her and just had to watch friend struggle to calm her down. Friggin hell I'm getting weepy again just thinking about it
TW: cancer/death
Then let's add in that today is the 1 year anniversary of both my DDs baptism & my sister's passing away after a 4+ year battle with colon cancer I'ma go find a hole to hide in for the rest of the day and you can all call me the Hole Troll.

@lurvleybunchococonuts HA! Sounds just like my husband, lol. He means well but totally doesn't get it. It is crazy how powerful our dreams can be! It can put me in a weird mood for hours after waking up. Unfortunately, I have never been able to figure out anything to stop/lessen them... I get them when not pregnant too. Pregnancy does amplify them for sure though!
I've been having lots of weird dreams lately too. The other day I dreamed it was the middle of winter and I was watching my 4 year old niece but got busy with something and realized that I hadn't seen her in several hours and she must have gotten outside. I was worried and wanted to phone the police to search for her... but then my mom stopped by and said there was no rush because it would just be a recovery at that point (our winters are very cold)!!!! I woke up (because I had to pee) and was quite distraught, and when I fell back asleep I started having the same dream... but this time it was my cat that went missing instead of my niece. I was all worked up, but in the middle of the dream had a moment where I thought to myself it was a little concerning that I was more worked up about my cat than my niece and was worried this is a sign that I'm going to be a terrible mother!!!!!
And on a mostly unrelated note, last night I was talking to DH and asked how often babies need to be bathed. He figured every day, and I was like 'oh crap... I thought like maybe 2 to 3 times a week... I have so much to learn!!!!!!'
@mia80 with DD I just googled anytime I had a question, it was all on the job learning or I would go onto the FB bump group for DD and be like unum hey what do I do? Usually everyone has the same questions. Also you are correct babies don't need baths very often. my 18month gets one every other day unless she dumps dirt on herself which is frequently. But before she got onto solid meals it was every few days/2x per week with some wipe downs here and there.
@mia80 That dream sounds suppppper distressing! Ugh I promise this is NOT a sign that you will be a terrible mother!
FB/our BMB once babies are here will be a SUPER helpful thing, I promise. I asked the nurse in the hospital the day after having DD, "wait, sh*t... how often do I bathe her?!" Another option, while you have to be SUPER confident and have an excellent hold on baby/never do this alone, but you can shower with baby. MH LOVED to take showers with DD especially when she was itty bitty. Infants are super slippery though! So you have to be verrrryyy careful. DD will still take a shower with him occasionally, but not too often anymore since she's getting big and she hates the water in her face so she fights getting her hair wet. But if he'd be jumping in the shower and DD needed to be bathed, I'd let him get started, then pass him naked baby, help with squirting soap into his hand etc, and once she was rinsed and cleaned I'd grab a towel and he'd pass her back to me. We def didn't bathe DD as often as YH is thinking. She'd get a bath as an infant maybe twice a week if I was lucky? Honestly it was probably closer to once a week. She'd get a wipe down in between, but infants don't really "get dirty" per se. Now that she's almost 21 months it's super dependent on how the day went. Sometimes it'll be once a day, but then other times it'll be every 2/3 days. She also LOVES baths, so sometimes she'll just randomly ask for a bath for fun, or if her tummy hurts, or if she's worked up/upset about something. She got one last night before dinner actually because I got home from work and she kept signing "bath" while saying "pweeeeee" (DD speak for please) and it was the cutest thing in the WORLD, how could I say no?

@mtengl unless they have a blowout or spit-up everywhere, I only bathed mine every other day or so. It’s harsh on their skin otherwise. But it’s your baby, just do what you want, lol! If they’re not smelling funky they’re probably fine. 😉
Omg I am having so many BH at work today. I usually get them in the evenings when I’m able to lay down or take a bath or try to get them to quit, but I can’t. Ugh, SO uncomfortable. I’m pretty sure I haven’t been drinking enough and that’s what triggered them, so I’m trying to chug water.
@lurvleybunchococonuts hahaha, thank you for your reply! TBH I actually said to DH "I think you only bathe them like once a week??", but when he said every day I was too embarrassed to write my once a week guess!!
And agreed... how could you say no to a bath last last night?!?!??! pweeeeeeee
@kitkatz1990 oh yeah, no when DD was young before age 1 it was more like a couple times a week or if things got messy. Now that she is 18 months it is more frequent because she loves dirt.
I broke down and called my OB about a heartburn medicine prescription since at my last appointment she said she could send in an prescription.
@mia80 pfft... no worries! There are not stupid questions or stupid answers! No single person is right, you'll figure out your flow of things and what works for your baby. Strong agree with what @kitkatz1990 said, so long as baby isn't smelling funky you're pretty good to go! It is super dependent on baby. Some babies are VERY spitty/reflux-y or have lots of blow-outs or that sour milk smell so you might want to bathe them more. But some babies have super sensitive skin (well they all do) but some are prone to baby eczema and bathing too often will actually make it worse. But, until they're mobile and getting into things they mostly just lay there lol. I mean, sure I used to drop food on DD's head occasionally while eating and holding her, but that is FAR less of a mess and a quick wipe up vs her covering herself in mashed sweet potato or finger painting all over her body with ketchup or rolling around in the dirt like it's a spa treatment Toddlers man... they're crazy... and dirty
@mtengl YAY for the HB script! I hope it helps What IS the fascination between toddlers and dirt? LMAO
