Re: July Randoms

  • @scatteringashes The start of the school year has me all sorts of worried.

  • @potofgolden I know quite a few moms who have brought their babies to the chiropractor and have had good results!
@mama-buckets sometimes i get weirded out too! I think because it's such a new experience (at least for me) and hormones 🙄 there was one day that i cried and felt a bit panicky every time I felt her move. It was just weirding me out too much! It's been better lately, especially when my husband can feel her movements now too😊 if I think too much about the fact that there is a living human inside me I still get a bit weirded out tho!🙈
  • @scatteringashes I am so nervous/uncertain about school. Grrrr. Our school is offering in person with an option to do 100% at home using an accredited curriculum. I’m tending towards the at home curriculum but goodness that was horrible last semester.
  • @potofgolden I have a friend who swears by chiropractic care for babies, as well as craniosacral massage for babies. She says it helps with a range of things from nursing to behavior to sleeping.

  • @scatteringashes I am a bit nervous about the start of school too. My daughter is supposed to start Kindergarten this year at a Catholic school. So far they plan to go ahead to start on August 10th. They’re offering both in person and virtual with virtual being the kid literally watching everything going on in the classroom and participating with the class all day. It seems highly unlikely that a 5yo is going to sit in front of a screen all day and participate in a virtual class without a lot of handholding and monitoring from parents. We are both WFH so that would be difficult. We are opting for in person for the first quarter and will have the opportunity to change to virtual in the second quarter if we want. So if things are still crazy virus-wise by the second quarter then I’m thinking we will switch to avoid the possibility that she brings germs home to me and MH prior to birth or to newborn after birth. I feel like none of the options are ideal and everything sucks but everyone is trying to do their best and the school seems to be working hard to implement all these new procedures and I’m grateful for that.

@mama-buckets with DD I didn't see crazy movements. I always felt her and it just felt like stronger movements if anything, she did move into position pretty early on and for like 6-8 weeks before I gave birth I had her foot up by my rib and that was what I saw the most/felt the most. No crazy flips like other people record though. I would always play with her little foot and it wasn't anything dramatic. This baby definitely moves more but she still has room so we will see.
  • @mama-buckets I was weirded out by all the stories of being able to see feet and what not once the baby gets bigger. But, when it was happening to me I loved it! Sometimes it was definitely still weird and sometimes uncomfortable but so awesome too. DS had the hiccups constantly and my belly always "bounced".

I write down on a desk calendar big moments during pregnancy and my sons life and I looked back at the 2018 on to see when I felt the first outside kicks and it was at 23 weeks. I can't wait until DH and DS can feel the baby too!

  • How was I so clueless about baby chiropractors 🙈!

@mama-buckets maybe I’m just clueless and spacey in general 😂 I rarely ever saw DD move or felt her hitting my hips or in my rib cage like other moms experience. Other people would notice my bump would be shifted to one side and point it out, and that’s usually when I would notice. Maybe my womb is extra spacey 😂🤷🏼‍♀️
  • @mama-buckets omg! I get bad nightmares every once and awhile anyways, but pregnancy has totally amplified them!!! It feels SO REAL and it takes me a bit once I've woken up to calm down because the emotions feel like it really happened!! Sorry you had to experience that, I know how not fun it is!!
  • @mama-buckets I'm so sorry! That Sounds so scary and sad! I'm glad your husband was there to comfort you when you woke up. Pregnancy dreams are a real thing! A few weeks ago my husband woke me up as i was sobbing in my sleep. In my dream my mom had died and even after I woke up I wanted to call her and make sure she was ok because it felt so real! Sending you a hug that that is the worst of your dreams!

    @mama-buckets
ugh pregnancy dreams are my least favorite. Too vivid and usually not good.
  • @mama-buckets I’m so sorry!! Pregnancy nightmares are the absolute worst, I feel like I can’t wake up from them!! At least your hubs was right there for some reassurance, but still doesn’t make the feeling any less crappy. Hopefully the rest of your day is more calming!💛
  • @mama-buckets how terrifying!! Car accidents are my biggest anxiety trigger. Thank God it was only a dream. Wishing you sweet cuddly dreams tonight!
  • @mama-buckets that is awful! Pregnancy dreams are sometimes so horrible. I hope that was the worst you will have!

  • @hedgepig oh no! That would've freaked me out. Hopefully you are right and he doesn't try to do it again, scary!
  • @hedgepig awww poor little dude :( hope he's okay ❤

  • @hedgepig oh no poor guy!

I am waiting for DS to figure out how to climb out of his crib. I am not looking forward to it at all.
  • @hedgepig how scary! Poor little thing!

  • @hedgepig I've been waiting for that day with DS that I hear a thud. How old is your boy? I think once we move into the new house I'm going to put DS in a big boy bed since I'll need the crib soon. I've been avoiding it because I know bedtime will be a battle.

@potofgolden I heard that as well but didnt read further into it! Is it because less people are going to the hospital? Very curious..
  • @dumbledoredies He's 2.25. He figured out how to climb out a few months ago when the crib was pushed up against a window seat that he could go to first, then climb down, but since we moved it out into the room, he hasn't tried anything. I know he *can*, because he can climb into the crib, but I guess he's scared of the drop. Anyways, we made it through nap and last night with no more incidents, so hopefully it doesn't become a regular occurrence. I'd be more open to transitioning him to a big bed, but we live in an old hippie cabin and his "room" doesn't have a door, and there is not the slightest chance he would stay in there at bedtime and go to sleep. We'll be moving in about a year, so he'll have to wait til then, and the new baby will sleep in the PNP.

  • @potofgolden thats really interesting about the drop in premie babies. I wonder if it makes a difference if all the mom's were just at home and resting more rather than going out and working every day?🤔 It doesnt seem like it'd be a lack of stress as being in lockdown and not sure what is going to happen is exactly stress free🙄 also, 103 days is not very long😲
  • A child in my class is being quarantined for 2 weeks because her mom tested positive. I asked my director (who is already quarantined because she was exposed to a different child who did test positive...that entire class plus the teachers and our director are all in quarantine until next week) if she’s being tested and she told me no, unless she develops symptoms. I feel like she should be tested anyway, because she potentially exposed us all but whatever, my boss doesn’t take this seriously enough. One of many reasons I’m out of here in a couple weeks. We have had a positive case already and that child never showed symptoms, so the same could be true for the child in my class.
  • @kitkatz1990 yikes!!! I can’t even imagine! We had someone at my work test positive 2 weeks after he started. Luckily we were all pretty much remotely working by then, but that was enough for me to decide to push to not go back into the office until after MAT leave at the earliest. That’s gotta be hard being in a position that you don’t have the ability to remain working remotely 😓😓. Just do your best to stay as safe as you can and count down those days/weeks mama!
  • @kitkatz1990 & @mtengl 3 teachers at my DD’s daycare have tested positive! They did not shut down for any period of time following these positive tests. Teachers were immediately quarantined obviously. 😳 Typical Florida attitude - just proceed as usual. Not even going to lie, my DD only goes MWF in the mornings and ai pick her up by 1PM - I have continued to send her. I just am feeling like this whole thing is unavoidable and if we are going to get it then now would be better then closer to due date. 😬 This probably should have been a FFFC considering I am sure many of y’all will think I’m absolutely crazy. 🔥
  • @krystrist2014 I feel you! I run an inhome daycare, and never closed down. Two of my daycare parents work in healthcare, one at the hospital.
My kids will be starting school in person in a month, because there is no way I can juggle 4-6 kids under 4 AND help them with e-learning.

  • @krystrist2014 I totally agree with you. I feel like everyone will get it at some point. I would rather have it now, than further along.. especially at delivery. Of course I would much rather not have it at all. If they do come up with a vaccine tomorrow, we still won’t be able to take it. Hopefully it slows down.
Plus there is also  the reoccurrences.

I’m also super worried about the flu. DD had it at the beginning of December when she was only 10 months and it was awful to see her go through that. I can’t imagine going through that with a month old.
  • @lalarose22 Oh no! That sounds awful! 🤞 your test comes back negative!
  • @potofgolden 103 days 😳😱😱😱😱😱. Based on my day yesterday (I had to sit down the entire evening due to lightheadedness...) I think we’re going to be early.

@kitkatz1990 I’m so sorry. I’m agonizing over whether to send my 7 yr old to school or not.

@s@surlyjaneausten Sadness. It’s hard to see them grow. It takes a village? I just pay for my village too? It makes them so happy it it does for our crew. Still...many hugs to you.

@mt@mtengl working from home with kids has been so. Hard. My job is flexible but it was really difficult to have a kid in my working space. Just sending empathy and thoughts.
