Re: The Name Thread

  • @greyl Noah is my BIL’s name so even though I love it as a name, it was not a contender for DS. You don’t run into many adult Noahs.

  • @greyl I think I may have mentioned before that our DS is Noah and that was always our favorite boy name for a long time even before the big rise in popularity so we went with it and it’s perfect! We still don’t have any family or close friends who have used the name and even when I taught preschool it wasn’t overly popular
  • I love the name Noah! I actually think it could be cute for a boy or a girl. It just has such a pleasant sound. Noah is one of those names that just sounds friendly. It is funny because it is the second most popular boy name in the US but I don’t know a single kiddo named Noah.
  • Someone throw some 2 syllable uncommon (but not weird or hard to spell) boy names at me!

Stuck on boys names. If we were having a girl, she would have been Rosemary Louise or Edith Marie. We don't want anything super strange, but definitely something uncommon. Unfortunately I'm just really not a fan of most "older" boys names, like the girls.
Our other boy is Caemon. (Love Irish/Scottish names)
Right now we are testing out Leopold, Fergus, and Lachlann. I'm just not sold.
  • @momofmiracles31889 oh nice!!! I don’t know a ton of Noah’s either! I follow one person on IG (don’t know them in real life) that has a School-age son named Noah but other than that no others. They’ll all end up in my sons class though I’m sure 😂😂

@beaandthebabes I really liked the idea of Noah for a girl too!! But I don’t think H would have gone for it if we were having one. I just think it’s such a chill name which is the vibe I’m going for so we will see!

  • Hey Momma's!

I'm struggling with a name for our little girl. We love the nicknames for Vivian: Vivi, Vi, Viv so I think we are settled on that name. We like that the full name is classic and appropriate for the woman she will one day be.

    BUT (big but)

I'm struggling with the spelling. I sorta like Vivienne but don't want her to have to correct everyone for her whole life. I'm an Erika and my name is always misspelled. I don't love the way Vivian ,  Vivien, or even Vivienne look when written down.

Am I being weird? We love the name but I can't seem to commit to it because I keep picturing it written down and having second thoughts!

  • @slr1229 Love the name Hadley. A friend of the fam has a preschooler with that name and I think it is so sweet.

@baebaek2020 Very sweet but stately name! I would go with Vivian because having people misspell your name is no fun and it seems the most traditional.

  • I love Vivienne or Vivianne. There are so many spellings for that name that you’ll be spelling it for people anyway you may as well go with the one you like best.

  • @baebaek2020 I agree that you will end up spelling it out anyway so might as well choose what you love!
  • Thank you @ktholysz @beaandthebabes and @Louise_Belcher I appreciate it. We aren't telling anyone our names because so I am so grateful for the feedback!!

  • Thanks everyone with the help with the name Clover. We decided against it due to our last name. I was wondering what people's thoughts are on the name Indie?
  • I love the name Indie, a friend recently named her little girl that and it's so cute!
  • slr1229slr1229 member
@Louise_Belcher that’s good to know!  I like Audrey still but DH likes Hadley.  I told him we can just decide what she looks like if it ends up being a girl!  🙂
  • I think it’ll depend on the first name how Indie sounds but I think it’s fun!
  • I think Indie is a very cute name.

  • Thanks everyone for the input on the name Indie. I think we have finally agreed on that one. Its nice to have outside input since we are not telling anyone till she is born. Now for a middle name. We are thinking of Indie Malia or Indie Ophelia as of right now
  • Hi Mommas,

I am back for more advice. I appreciate all of your input so far!  I want a middle name that will be a tribute to my mom. Her name is Bovany. In her native language Ny meant oldest and according to her it was the only part of her name that was hers (the Bo and Va came from her parents name).  My husband and I went to Ireland for our honeymoon and fell in love with it there.

So I was thinking the name Delany as the middle name.  Thoughts? Any other names that include Any that you love and work with Vivien?  Thanks for reading my long post!!

@baebaek2020 LOVE Delany! I think that would flow very well! I'm a huge sucker for Irish names as well.
We THINK we are having a Leopold Eoghan.
  • @baebaek2020 I think that sounds really nice! Love names with meaning
  • Thank you @kdale2613 and @ktholysz!  I think I'm settled then. I can't stop using those in my head, but my husband isn't sure about it. I think it's a bit too nontraditional for him. I'll keep working on him.

    @kdale2613 Leopold Eoghan is lovely!

Just how much of a problem are the initials NPL? I love the name Nora Paige but just realized her initials would be NPL or nipple.
  • @em_el I never would have thought of that as nipple personally
  • @em_el I wouldn’t have noticed. How often do you really use all 3 initials and in order? Even monograms put the last initial in the middle.
