Re: 6.21 - 6.27 Weekly Randoms

  • Omg.. I just had one of the most saddest moments 😥 I'm at my In-laws house with my hubby for a fathers day BBQ and I'm in there kitchen and my FIL goes to me: "ok you have a choice of your favorite booze slushies I got you or a margarita"? And I say uh neither. I'll have water thanks. My MIL looks at me and goes why??? And I'm like uhh cause I want water. shes like just water?? And I said yep. I'm happy with water..Then she says" well when a women only wants water it only means one thing" She's like you sure you dont have anything to share? I'm like nope. 😔 Shes like oh darn! I was hoping you would tell me some news.

Omg that sucked!! I had to run to my DH in the garage and started to cry and tear up. They dont know that im pregnant and I cant tell them or anyone because of what happened with our NIPT test incase it doesnt work out with the amnio and need to terminate. I would LOVE nothing more then to tell them today. God that ripped my heart out 😭🥺💔  This blows!!

  • @mindyb2019 I’m so sorry that happened ☹️ That had to be so hard. When is your amnio again?

  • @mindyb2019 please think about telling people close to you. You might want their support through this, whichever way it goes.
    Ugh, how hard.

  • @dreamscapes_ Thank you. Ya it was really hard and crushing today. My MILs face looked soo excited and hopeful and then soo disappointed when I didnt tell her any news 😔 My Amnio is in 11 days.

@the_road_to_oz thanks my friend. I haven't told any family at all and wont because it will just be too hard but I have a few friends of mine that are close that know about my situation and my boss and coworker know for support too.
  • @mindyb2019 Oh no! How awful. I'm sure she asked out of excitement, but there are so many reasons that question could be hard for someone.

I'm glad you're telling and talking to some friends. It definitely sounds like you could use the love and support right now. ❤️

Ugh, I'm so sorry @mindyb2019. I'm glad you have some friends to lean on, it's difficult going through all this on your own.
  • @mindyb2019 I'm so sorry that happened. I would not share with my family either of I were in your position. I'm glad you have friends that you you can confide in though!
  • Random, but if anyone is planning to get anything from Buy Buy Baby, they’re running a promo right now where if you spend a certain amount, you get another amount back as “my funds”. We went ahead and ordered the stroller we wanted and are getting $100 back. I let my mom know, since we registered there for the crib, and she ordered it as well, and is getting $50 back.

  • Back in the hospital for fluids. 😒 I hate HG.

  • @the_road_to_oz awww girl I'm sorry you have to go back to the hospital. Damn HG. Hope you feel better soon❤
  • @mindyb2019 everything looked good except the dehydration! Baby girl is sucking her thumb. 😱

  • @the_road_to_oz Ugh I'm sorry! I hope you are feeling better!

Slow day at work so decided to start looking into what stuff we need to buy (or register for...still undecided whether I want to do a shower at all) and already going out of my mind. Head is just spinning trying to understand the different pack 'n' play options (and that was just one brand), not to mention bassinets. Haven't even gotten to cribs yet! This is going to require so many spreadsheets...
  • @akoros I remember being so overwhelmed with everything after walking through a BuyBuyBaby for the first time. The most helpful thing we did was make an appointment with them and someone walked around with us and went section by section and showed us things, gave recommendations and explained a lot. I'm not sure with this Covid Situation if they still are doing that, but it's worth a shot!

  • @akoros my best friend put together a list for me of everything I should consider getting and stuff that wasn’t worth it. I’ll send it to you in a private message. I started researching over a month ago Bc I get very overwhelmed and just couldn’t help it!
  • akorosakoros member
@shelmcclel Yes, thanks for that! I haven't told my "mom" friends yet, once I do and ask for recommendations I'm sure that will help.
  • @mindyb2019 it sounds like the boy kitty knew you needed the snuggles! My cats do that, too.

  • @dreamscapes_ yes I think he did know. I agree. ❤️ My cat does it too when I need it the most.
  • All I can say for registry makers is Lucie's List. I mostly used it to make choices and I have nothing I wasn't happy with! I  used Baby Gear Lab for references as well.

  • @feather_heather yup, I couldn't start the Twatwaffle thread yesterday and I can't today. The bump really is a buggy mess.
  • Mine keeps kicking me all the way back to the monthly page (Not dec board, but where you pick the month to view) every time I exit a thread.

  • It’s been so buggy! I can’t even get on everyday now matter where I try from!

  • So yesterday my sugar dropped to 45 and I started shaking and my clothes were soaking wet. DH ran and got me food from the kitchen but I’m having trouble with the insulin. It sucks they don’t use glyburide anymore but I get it. I’m really trying to balance this out better but it’s definitely not as easy as with DS.

  • @jbal918 I'm having trouble with lows this pregnancy too. It's really frustrating because it only happened once with DD.
  • @nmadjeski Same! I hit 55 once with DS and never again! Today for dinner, I had a bacon cheese burger with no bun but I had tater tots and I was at 63! And I didn’t walk after dinner like I normally do!
    DS born 2016
  • @jbal918 Same thing, turkey burger with lettuce instead of a bun and fries and I was 61. HOW?! It makes it so hard to manage this time around. I mentioned it to the nurse when she called me Monday and she said she'd mention it to the dr but to continue in the meantime.

Yesterday when he got home from daycare, DS wanted to know if I had the baby yet.  It's going to be a long 6 months for him.  I keep trying to explain the baby won't be here until Christmas time when it's cold out haha.

  • @jbal918 I swear, I'm never going to understand this diabetes stuff. Also, I'm jealous, I miss the pens! My insurance won't cover them so I have the little glass bottle and  needles. I cant wait until this is over so I'm done with insulin again. Lol
  • @mindyb2019 Thinking of you!
  • We have the opportunity to send our DD back to daycare in July, but my H doesn’t want to. With Covid on the rise, he’s too nervous about potential exposure to me and our parents.
I get it, it’s probably the right move to not send her back, but I’m struggling with working from home with her. I’m in charge of watching her 90% of the day, with a few breaks if I need to jump on a Zoom call. She hasn’t played with another kid since March and I feel so bad for her. Ugh this sucks.

I hate Covid, and I hate idiots who won’t wear masks and who are making it a political thing.

    Sorry, rant over.

Thinking of you @mindyb2019. My EDD from my last pregnancy was last week, it's hard
  • jchpgjchpg member
@bearmomma1 we’re in the same boat. We pulled DD is March and have since opted to keep her home until August. Now honestly I can’t see sending her back in August. It’s nearly impossible to get the work we need to done but I can’t justify the risk of getting us sick.

My weekly random/rant- my Uni is requiring faculty and staff to disclose medical issues and fill out ADA forms for the accommodation of teaching fully online this fall- even when nearly all classes are online anyway (with a portion of each class face to face- with social distancing). It’s frustrating bc the forms literally don’t take into account risk factors and technically while it’s now shown pregnancy can lead to more severe cases of COVID, pregnancy is technically not a risk factor to getting it. This all feels illegal, but like I have no other choice. I think we will have to go online, but I feel forced into disclosing personal info when I should not have to. I’m just so frustrated. Like why can’t they get that putting a bunch of old faculty and staff with a huge younger population who is currently the largest fraction of Covid positives is a HUGE RISK FACTOR itself?!?

    Ok. Rant over.
  • @jchpg I totally understand. I think they probably have to collect that information from an American with Disabilities Act perspective in order to say that 100% remote learning is an accommodation for a health issue - probably for regulatory compliance, legal, liability and insurance purposes. People with any need for any type of ADA accommodation have to do this (think requesting a standing desk for back problems, a private/quiet space for ADD, software & technology for deaf & hard of hearing persons, etc etc)

If you have serious concerns about submitting your personal info via the form, I’d call your HR department to ask whether there is any alternative to filling out the form to provide more accurate information on your pregnancy in order to be approved for 100% remote learning.
  • @jchpg with my own experience of medical issues and work, we do not have to disclose things to our direct supervisors but we DO have to disclose to HR to make sure it qualifies. They are the ones who approve it or not. I was hurt at work a few times and had to bring in all of my medical documentation with all of my business on it. It had to be notarized and I even had to be cleared by "their" doctor. It's invasive AF but it is what it is.
  • @jchpg maybe the news this weekend will change their stance
