@mimser I should have mentioned I’m 16 weeks! I also have a short torso and am just starting to show, so maybe it could be stretching! Definitely painful 😬
@lalarose22 I definitely had that earlier on (felt like a sudden sharp pain). I asked my doc who said it's most likely just growing pains since your ribcage is going to broaden a bit.
I am starting to get heartburn a lot, which is miserable. Tums are my new best friend. Also, I definitely have noticed that it is getting really hard to get comfortable in bed at night, like when I am laying down to watch TV. I have dogs and they love to lay on me/my stomach at night when I am watching TV/reading/etc. but it is too uncomfortable now to have any pressure on my abdomen. I also find myself turning back and forth and unable to find a comfortable position. UGH.
@laurenmicheley I've never really dealt with it before and never understood when my husband would complain about it (oops, haha) so probably karma. Hoping it isn't here to stay for the next 20 weeks!
@bserena I can't get comfortable at night either. I toss and turn all night long. If I remember correctly this will last for me until the baby is born. Everyone always says how the 1st trimester is the one where you are so tired. Nope 2-3 is the worst for me since I never get a good nights sleep.
Also the heartburn can be terrible. The weirdest things give it to me like cucumbers. This time has (knock on wood) not been as bad as it was with DS. I had it with him from conception to birth!
@bserena yes on the tums! Also, the discomfort. My cats and children love to pile all around/on me and now I feel like I can only tolerate it for a few minutes before I need everyone to get the F off me lol
I definitely took Zantac daily in my first pregnancy, so was thrilled to see the recall on that earlier this year.
My legs have been super restless in the evenings, like when we’re sitting around watching tv before bed. Anyone know if that’s also a dehydration symptom or just a “can’t do anything about it pregnancy symptom”?
I was having trouble finding a comfortable sleep position too! I've had some luck with putting an extra pillow under by back/side and position it right above my hip. It feels better that my back and hips can stay more aligned. I was 6 days without feeling nauseous and then on day 7(yesterday) i woke up and had to RUN to the bathroom! I didn't have much but even still I was hoping it was completely over!
@doublestroller I have had the weird restless legs too! Although they seem to hit me most when I’ve been sitting for too long and don’t really have the ability to get up and move around (car trips, meetings at work, etc). It’s so strange and uncomfortable, because you try try try not to fidget, but that’s the only thing that feels right, then people look at you like you’re crazy lol.
@babywiik nausea is sometimes still hitting me too. It’s not all the time but every once in a while out of the blue I will feel so sick and barely make it to the toilet! Then I’m fine again. So strange!
I've been pretty much symptom apart from sporadic RLP. However the last 2 days I cannot breathe when sitting. Standing is fine, laying down is fine, but when sitting, I just can't get enough air.
@hedgepig oh yeah, same for me. No magical second-tri energy over here, lol. I am pretty much tired 24/7 and have been taking naps in my car during lunch hour, right when I get home from work and then going to bed super early too.
@hedgepig I’ve always thought the second trimester energy thing was fake. Sure I feel a bit better than the first trimester because I’m not feeling sick, but compared to when I’m not pregnant I’m definitely still exhausted!
The only difference from 1st to 2nd tri for me is I have no all day nausea!! I’m exhausted and need a nap every two hours, I actually look forward to sleep these days and can’t get enough lol

Thanks ladies, I'm glad it's not just me, although I wish that we all had more energy! The heat is really coming on here and hitting me way harder than it usually does - I'm totally dreading the summer pregnancy.

I think what makes it worse at least for me is that I sleep like garbage. I have trouble sleeping on my side so I basically just roll from one side to the other all night long.
@windywoman@kitkatz1990 same here! I try to not drink a lot of water after 8 pm, but I still pee a million times before bed/during the night. I also bought a Snoogle, but I still can’t get comfortable on my side! Oh the joys!
I have more energy than in the first trimester, but definitly not as much as normal! In the first tri I was exhausted after work and could hardly move off the couch from 5 to 9. At least now I have more energy in the evening... But around 3 I'm ready for a nap and can hardly make it through work. At least I'm working from home so there's noone around to notice if I'm staring at my computer doing nothing for 15 minutes!!
But also not sleeping as well either... And my giant pregnancy pillow doesn't seem to help with that!
@hedgepig...I swear all my tricks fail me in the afternoon. All I want to do is sit. I know I need to move to get stamina for birth but goodness I just want to do nothing. It’s so annoying!
My lower back is KILLING me. I’m debating seeing a chiropractor and doing acupuncture. Have any of you done acupuncture and gotten some relief during pregnancy?
@lalarose22 I second the chiropractor. My lower back has been awful. I started seeing a chiro a few weeks ago and notice a huge difference. It's still doesn't *not* hurt, but it's substantially better than it was.
My eyes have been really dry and itchy and I hadn't attributed it to pregnancy but I looked it up last night and apparently it is a common pregnancy symptom. I've had to stop wearing my contacts it is so bad. I rubbed my eye so hard/much yesterday that I popped a blood vessel in it and now have a small red spot on the white of my eye, ugh!
@bserena Who would have known! My eyes have been super itchy lately too and I had attributed it to allergies or kicking up dust and cat dander when I was going through stuff to donate earlier this week.

@bserena You know what my eyes have been itchy and dry too!
My hand/thumb hurts. I think it is carpel tunnel that basically acts up during pregnancy. It did the same thing last pregnancy too. I also ended up having numbness in both hands/fingers that didn't go until after I delivered. Pregnancy is fun!
Am I the only one who is getting gas bubbles / pains in your sides / behind your ribs? This is new to me, but am assuming it's pregnancy related. Any tips?
@Ecat504 ok, I don’t know if this is the same thing as what you’re talking about, but Saturday night I had a gas bubble trapped in my stomach and it was SO painful!! It was like I could literally feel it moving down my digestive tract. I finally took some Gas-X and it helped break it up and I was able to go back to sleep. It’s happened to me before but not for a really long time.
@bserena with DD I had to stop wearing my contacts because my eyes were so dry and I had to continue to wear them until I finished BF. My eyes never got quite right and here we go again with dry eyes. My ear canals are also itchy has anyone experienced this?
@windywoman i think I had carpal tunnel with DD or something horrible. I would have excruciating pain if I put pressure on my wrist and on one of my knees. I had to be very careful crawling into bed. I really hope I don’t get it this time around.
@bserena My eyes have been awful and dry too! I thought it was just allergies, but this makes more sense! @windywoman My sister had bad carpel tunnel with one of her pregnancies too. It sounds like what you experienced.
Afm, I'm ready feeling a lot of Braxton hicks contractions. I felt them pretty darned early last time too, although I'm not sure if it was quite this early. Also, I feel like I am probably about the same size/weight as last pregnancy, but I must be carrying a lot lower, because last time I was able to get away with wearing my regular pants with a hair tie or bella band until almost the end (even though I was plenty big), but this time there's no way that will work. I pulled out a bunch of old shorts that I thought I could wear around the house with a hairtie, but no dice. On the upside, I did find a few pairs of drawstring stretchy lounge shorts and I suspect I will basically live in them. At the A/S baby girl was laying super low (breech) and I always feel her super low, so I guess it makes sense...

@hedgepig I am only 18 weeks and I swear I felt a Braxton Hicks yesterday! I was like, whoa, what’s with this cramp?! And then felt my lower abdomen was rock hard. Put a message in to the OB because I do not remember them starting this early at all last time. She said it is a bit early but it would be fine and call them if I feel 6 in an hour.
I felt baby move really early on and then nothing forever... well 19w6d definite baby movement last night and they have started up again tonight! These are so sweet!
Goodness I had a lot of problems with baby last. I nearly had her a month early because I wasn’t drinking enough water or taking it easy. I...took my 7 yr old to a track to run. I thought I could do one lap. Nope. I did a quarter of the track and felt pain in my lower right side of my stomach. Went on a walk ... did 8300 steps that day. I felt AWFUL. I came home and drank four cups of water just in case. Then it was spaghetti for dinner. I have to take it easy or else it seems. I’m just worried I won’t have the energy to give birth. However yesterday was really unnerving.
