I've been working sick and not able to keep a lot down that all I want these days are fruit and pasta alfredo with shrimp. I've been buying a ton of fresh fruit and trying to survive on carbs. Every now and again I want something different, but each morning without fail, I eat a Jimmy Dean's breakfast croissant and I swear, I'll never get sick of them. Which is funny because I'd never eat those not pregnant.
I'm such a foodie, so this is my favorite thread yet. Love hearing what you're all eating!! Most morning are smoothie bowls (I was obsessed even before pregnancy!). Tons of snacking, which varies between carbs (banana bread, crackers, pop chips), fruit, veg, and protein (cheese, hummus, yogurt). I am from the Midwest so cheese and sausage are dietary staples lol. I'm sadly gluten-free (ughh, food allergies), which has me CRAVING dense breads. Lunches and dinners include a mix of big-ass salads and comfort food - pasta, tacos, pizza, and all the fried rice!! And I must dessert at least twice a day. Keep portions fairly small, but I'd die without chocolate. And I'm still obsessed with coffee, just enjoy half-caffeine. Anyone else crazy about sparkling water?? It helps me with the queasies. Here's to eating for baby! Lol
@36anditsmyfirst I could drink sparkling water all day long! I love sour things, so I squeeze a whole lemon or lime in for my after dinner drink 🥰 What do you put in your smoothie bowls?

@hedgepig I'm all about sour too! Actually, my smoothies are sour because I like them that way. Mixed frozen berries, yogurt, kefir, splash of milk, oats, chia seeds, cocoa (damn, realized that sounds ridiculous, but it works for me!) Topped with walnuts, more (gluten free) oats and honey. I live for it. And Happy Mother's Day to us!!!
@hedgepig and @36anditsmyfirst +1 for sour! I am all about lemon or lime things (even while not pregnant). I add tajín to my apples or watermelon to satisfy the sour cravings. I also was able to score some amazing key lime tarts from a local food truck this weekend. I normally don’t like lime baked goods because people add way too much sugar and I just want all the tartness but this lady makes them perfectly sour with just a bit of sweetness! 🤤
@36anditsmyfirst yess! I LOVE sparking water! I have been doing AHA a lot and Fresca when they have the less sweet versions. My favorite for awhile during this pregnancy has been regular super cold water with Lemon or Grapefruit essential oil in it.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I eat a bowl every morning. I've been killing family size boxes like nothing! My morning sickness finally let up last week so I've been eating everything I can...except tacos (I threw up too many in the past few weeks for it to be appetizing...) Definitely craving greasy food. I want burgers, fried chicken, and french fries!
Had the BEST Mother’s Day dinner! Thai food takeout. And thank God I picked myself up some of that 0% Heineken you ladies recommended because seriously needed a beer to go with the curry since I asked for it extra hot! Haha. Pics in spoiler because why not? Lol
I just dreamt that I was going to make Nutella toast for breakfast. Upon waking, I realized I don’t have any Nutella. There should be a word for that sadness.
I haven’t been eating any one thing, really, but I have been trying to get a lot of protein and iron (I had some anemia when I went for my blood tests in March). Lots of meat and eggs and green veggies and nuts/seeds. We have chickens so we have to constantly eat eggs or we’ll run out of room, plus we get a CSA each week so we have to eat the veggies we get. These days, tons of strawberries, lettuce, kohlrabi, broccoli, and asparagus.
@laurenmicheley After reading your post, I HAD to get me some labneh and falafel and koba and fatoush. It took forever because there were only two people working but it was soooooooo good!
I was really bad...I dug through my son’s candy bag (anyone else’s kids have a candy bag all the time?? I feel like they get SO MUCH CANDY at every holiday and never ever eat it all!) and I stole one of those little warheads pucker packs that he got on Valentine’s Day. They are basically Fun Dips except super freaking sour! I loved it so much that I ended up ordering three big bags of them on Amazon lol! I ate two of them in one sitting today and now my tongue hurts so I think I need to take a break from those 😂😂
I've been eating a lot of cheese lately. Any bread needs to be toasted. Also, when not eating cheese, I'm stuffing myself with fruit and vegetables. I'll cut up a cantaloupe and eat the whole thing in a day. Cucumber slices. I ate so many avocados that I honestly have decided I don't want one for a while...
The ham and swiss roll-ups continue! Like I can't get enough. I was also able to make coffee this morning without it having my stomach turn and it was delish! I tried out a new oatmilk creamer that was flavored like an oatmeal cookie, yum!
Last night...I cried over Orange Chicken from Panda Express. Problem was, it was 10:30 and also the closest one is about 45 min-1 hour away. So today, my sweet DH made the 2 hour round trip in between business calls to get me a huge plate of it. 🥳 I will be ordering the husband of the year trophy soon. 😂 Bless his heart! 💜
@wychets yes! I can finally stomach coffee again and I am having a serious problem limiting my starbucks habit! Lol. Definitely had a venti Carmel frap this past weekend and I’m also really into the salted cold foam cold brew drink they have.
I was living on cucumber avocado sushi rolls for a few weeks 🙈 This week I’m craving sweets more than usual! I woke up wanting a cinnamon roll almost every morning 🤷🏻♀️
wychets oooh, what i would do for an iced caramel latte and a chicken sausage and bacon biscuit from starbucks right now....Haven't done a coffee yet, but I've been thinking of going 1/2 decaf.
Other than that, I'm still craving greasy foods! All i spend my money on right now is fast food. I had a bacon jalepeno burger from wendy's last night (with a large fry) and it was HEAVEN! I am trying to eat healthier, but salads just gross me out right now. During my morning sickness phase, I threw up every single salad i ate.
@reirei84 I've also been on a Cinnamon toast crunch kick!
This weeks grocery addition was an apple Danish
I made a super easy dinner of baked fajita chicken and then substituted my way through a restaurant style Mexican rice recipe that turned out amazing and I ate it 3 days in a row haha
Dinner tonight was a small glass of Dr. Pepper left over from pulled pork and a slice of cheese pie with cherry topping after DS went to bed
@lalarose22 so the -thought- of pizza has been such a turn off to me for the last 4 months but all of the kids wanted pizza last night so we cracked and I ate almost an entire pizza by myself LOL. And with the struggle I've been having with eating / keeping things down / gaining weight, I may just be eating pizza everyday now.
Has anyone been “off” the animal proteins? I really am not interested in anything but cheeseburgers and fish/shell fish. Absolutely CONNOT handle chicken right now and a steak is cool from time to time. But the VEGGIES! I’m ALL IN for vedge. I’m nervous I’m not getting enough protein for nugget. I eat yogurt every day if I can, and have toyed with adding a protein shake to my daily intake. Has anyone else had this type of struggle? What did you do that helped you get the nutrition you needed?
mama-buckets Maybe some protein bars? I keep a stash just in case I need a quick bite and don't want to make anything.
I'm on the exact opposite trend. I crave all meats! I've been dying for a hotdog and finally had a few yesterday, then a burger too! Veggies have been hard for me since that's all I wanted during 1st trimester and ended up puking quite a few salads.
@mama-buckets I am not totally off meat but I am definitely not eating it a ton. I had the same thing with DS too.
We have been eating a ton of baked potatoes and I can't get enough of them. I recently found out how much better they are if you slice them in half and then bake them. I make them at least 3 times a week.
@mama-buckets Not sure if this will help but with DS2 I had gestational diabetes and struggled with getting enough protein (since most carbs were out). My go-to's were nuts, eggs, peanut butter, and cheese. This was mostly for snacks but maybe having a bunch of small snacks will help!
@acdc1109 I didn’t even think of nuts/nut butters!! I can totally do eggs cheese and nuts!! Thank you for the tip!
@reirei84 I’m definitely going to add a stash of protein bars. I’m working from home currently (and prayerfully through the remainder of my pregnancy), so having some snacks on hand is super easy.
