  • These are getting me so excited for my AS next Thursday. This is what the office's website says "To limit the overall traffic in the practice, we are limiting patients to one (1) essential visitor/companion, and asking patients to not bring any visitors, unless absolutely necessary."  I'm calling DH absolutely necessary and bringing him! 😁

I posted this in the other thread too, but here we go! I will post a foot picture too.
I got referred to the high risk doctor to do growth scans and such which I'm actually incredibly excited for because their US machine is way nicer. Hopefully I'll have some more pictures soon. 😆

@wineren I’m have growth U/S to do also, I think at 30 and 34 weeks since DD2 had severe IUGR. Plus I’m pretty sure they’re going to have me do BPPs which include ultrasound. So yay for more baby pics!
  • @babyodo My son had his feet crossed in all of his US photos, and continued to do it after he was born, and he still sits like that at 18m old—it is so precious!

Ugh I still have to wait a week for our scan. I’m getting so impatient!
  • With my son, we had a marginal cord insertion and we were told to do growth scans every 4 weeks. He was always in low percentiles until 12 m of age but always growing steadily. Wondering if the marginal cord insertion really made a difference and caused slower growth. He was in the 47th percentile at the AS, baby girl is in the 61st overall. So I'm pretty positive she's "bigger". All her measurements were precise at 20w or a couple of days ahead. Funny how different siblings can be!

My son was also "short" we were told, which was true, although by 12m he caught up and I think now at 2yo is is in the 50th or so percentile for pretty much everything so he averaged out.

@coldbrew @morethanamama It's my silver lining to being high risk. Last time we did them initially because DS's abdomen was measuring too large (which it wasn't at all at birth) so we did them every 2-4 weeks at the specialist's office from 20 weeks, and this time because I found out so late and already have GD. With DS we did BPPs too at my regular OB, weekly from 32 weeks on. I had a LOT of appointments 😆

  • @wineren I did too since finding out the cord issue! It was nice to see the babe so often.

Also, I think it's SO CRAZY that with all the medical advances we still see things in these US that are wrong🤷🏻‍♀️ also we can't get the weight of babies right! I hear so many people who got told baby
Was huge when they weren't and vice versa

@baseballismyfavoriteseason My mom told me that I also would always cross my feet when I was an inside baby, so it looks like this one takes after me, lol.

@morethanamama At my A/S, they told me she weighed about 8oz, so I'm hoping that's true! I was 7lbs 10oz at birth, and I'm pretty sure MH was right around that size too.

The cool thing about me going to a military hospital is that all of my lab and radiology results are posted to my patient portal online (I know some civilian hospitals do this, too), so I couple days after my appt I was able to read their interpretation of it and see that all is normal and that she is measuring in the 61st percentile, which is reassuring. Given this whole COVID thing, I wouldn't have been able to know the results of my scan until my next OB appt on June 10th, and I most likely would have had to request it specifically.

@morethanamama It is crazy! At the ultrasound a week to the day before DS was born they told me he was already measuring 8lb 9oz. He came out at 7lb 6oz. And his 93rd percentile abdomen they were worrying about? Exactly 50th percentile. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I'd rather they check than not, 110%, but it makes me laugh now.
  • @morethanamama same! DD ran out of room around 36 weeks and slowed down in movement a lot so we did a last minute ultrasound. They told me she weighed 7lbs. She was born 4 weeks later and weighed 5lbs 5oz. So that was definitely wrong 😂.
  • Isn't it funny? Like, we pretty much can land something on Mars, could we have accurate baby weights?? Lol.
@babyodo I got those results in my portal too and my girl is also 61st percentile:)
  • Somehow my midwife guessed my son’s exact birth weight when I was in labor. She said she’s usually pretty good at guessing, but she’s had some babies surprise her.

@westslopemama I ended up not going with a midwife for some specific medical reasons, but I am zero percent surprised that she was able to tell. I was born at home with a midwife and she told my parents fairly early long to expect me to late and around 9lb (I was 13 days late and 9lb 2 oz).
  • @kbowman78 we got a similar feet pic!
  • I get bad anxiety during pregnancy ever since a missed miscarriage due to partial molar pregnancy 3 years ago, so this appointment was some much needed relief! Everything with anatomy is good! Measuring big (still have to hear details from my OB), but weighing about 16oz, legs measuring 21.5 weeks, head at 22 weeks! I was 20.5 weeks at A/S. Team green, so no gender and baby didn't want to show facial profile, but wiggled around like crazy the whole time! I have 3 boys at home and have strong boy feelings with this one too. Low-lying anterior placenta, so I need a recheck at 28 weeks. (2nd time in a row with anterior placenta!)

  • I died when I saw she had printed the second one out for me 🤣 We call that one the Terminator. Since MH couldn't come in she taped a nice picture of baby spread eagle with a "girl!" And arrow pointing to her lady bits in a cute card for us to open together. Also just about killed me. She was very cooperative and the scan couldn't have lasted longer than 15 minutes!
  • @mckjacks not gonna lie I couldn't wait to see a picture of the twins!!so cute!

@ginevere That is amazing! I absolutely love it.
    @mckjacks adorable!!
  • Love your post @coldbrew I know that for a lot of women the AS is a time when they find something is worrisome so I appreciate you offering your support and sharing your past experience. So glad your DD2 is thriving <3
  • Baby brother wouldn’t give us a good look at his face, he did give us a good view of his parts. 😂 All development is looking great, and we did get this sweet little wave!
  • Had my AS yesterday at 19w, was so good to be able to see everything progressing well  :)  the ultrasound tech estimates the weight to be about 11oz which seems to be on the bigger side, guess baby has been eating its wheaties! Got to do a video calm with the BF this time, he had the hugest grin the whole time.  Got a few good waves from the baby which he just loved, and managed to catch it yawning.

  • @angela444 how sweet! My husband was able to come but they are only allowing for 10 minutes currently. He was at least able to see the gender and our baby was sucking his thumb, and gave us thumbs up with both hands! It was so precious lol.
  • I got my hopes up that he could come with me to ours next week. I got a letter with instructions for the appointment. On it in bold it instructed me that only 1 visitor can come with me. I called and they acted like I should know otherwise. They said that isn’t the COVID-19 letter. Then why send it?!?! Why not update their standard letter. I was told I can call right before my appointment to see if it’s changed.
  • 👋 hello from Cookie! She is growing right on track, only looked like her legs were longer than average--expecting her to be tall since I'm 5'10" and DH is 6'4". DH was not allowed in for my appointment after all. Grrr! I made sure to chew out the nurse that they need to update their website because it totally said one visitor allowed (in the covid precautions section!). 🙃
she wouldn't let them get a good view of her spine or feet, so I'll have to go back in a few weeks. 💗
  • @peanutorcookie my scan took nearly an hour because baby was not being especially cooperative.  On the plus side I got lots of time to check it out!
  • @carrotsandpeas3 EIF over here too! I didn't even think about doing NIPT now, but I did already do different testing that went along with the NT scan with no elevated risks found.

  • @carrotsandpeas3 do they recommend another scan or is there any other follow-up if they see something like that??
  • @kalesix3 not typically. Basically the heart is functioning fine, there's just a little calcification in the papillary muscle. It's really common, just carries those scary associations when seen in conjunction with other things. It wouldn't change anything if they scanned and saw it again or if it went away. In the back of my mind though, I just wonder if they could have missed something else that would change the picture. Plus, if I can get NIPT covered by insurance to rule out chromosomal abnormalities now, that would make me feel better. I called and left a message just now, so we'll see!
  • @carrotsandpeas3 Oh thank you! I was wondering the same thing! I hope you can get the NIPT covered as a just in case measure! Good vibes to you
