@baseballismyfavoriteseason your son seems to be so clever and happy with whatever sleeping arrangement he has! Thanks for sharing your experience I agree, a loving family, food and a roof are the most important things and I'm sure that my son is going to be the center of attention of all the family and be loved from day 1.
I would love to see everyone's nurseries or set ups! It will be great to get an idea of all I need to get after we move!
@animalandplantrescuer thanks for your words! I really think it's going to work, it will just be different than how many people do things. Of course I'd love a huge house with a yard but it can't be right now.
Yeah, I had a whole set up for pumping in the nursery- DS didn't transfer milk well so I EP'd for several months) and it definitely got moved to the living room after about three days except when my in-laws visited. Much easier to hang out in the general living space in my experience.
@wineren I think EP moms are total rockstars. We had a hard time nursing and I considered transitioning to EP but when I thought about all the extra work that entailed (time pumping + time feeding + all the gear to wash) I decided to keep limping through nursing. 🤪
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
@wineren I agree with @baseballismyfavoriteseason, EP moms are rockstars! I hated the pumping I had to do when I went back to work. Was definitely the worst part of nursing for me. I mostly nursed in the main living area too (even when we had family visitors--it was my house after all 🤷). I still liked having the nursery to nurse in overnight so I didn't have to go downstairs where our living room was. I spent a lot of time sitting in there overnight.
@baseballismyfavoriteseason and @carrotsandpeas3 EPing is crazy time consuming but it was worth it. I'm incredibly grateful I knew it was a possibility thanks to some awesome moms in my BMB but I'm definitely hoping to nurse this time. I had supply issues after I started on the minipill too and ended up switching to formula around 5 or 6 months. Some moms do it for a year+ and I have nothing but respect. I do want to pump some so DH can help with feedings. That was definitely the best part.
@carrotsandpeas3 I definitely pumped in the living room when we had my family and even friends over - just my in-laws visit made me too uncomfortable lol.
EPing was such a difficult thing, but it was the only thing I could really control when my daughter was sick so it helped. I learned to pump when driving, in public, etc because it was the only way to maintain my supply. I think I could do it again if I had to, though.
You EPers are rockstars! I’ll only be pumping when I go back to work at school in January, or at least that’s the plan. Our elementary school even has a new mother’s room that was added last year during a remodel! I’ll nurse at home and elsewhere.
@aefsparrow wow that sounds like an awesome addition! 1400sqftnsounds like a dream. We're renting 1100sqft 3beds-ish with lots of quirks sounds like a great addition plan! And your nursery description sounds like it will be wonderful! Now I feel like I have to do something to make the one wall in the nursery that we currently use as our storage more discreet, hehe
@jgrodo THANKS! I got super lucky, my husband came with a house lol. I had always rented before so having a house I can actually change and paint etc is super weird for me sometimes.
@aefsparrow haha that's amazing! Totally living the dream! The housing market here is just depressing. I just saw one listed for almost a million and described as a knock down. one day we will own something maybe hehe.
@carrotsandpeas3 so cute! Good plan! That shop has so many cute decals! So hard to commit to one😉. I feel like everytime I go on Etsy it's so hard to stop looking around at all the things.
My UO right now is that any maternity wear that doesn't have either a miracle of built in support or the capacity to wear a real bra with it is just mean.
@aefsparrow I’ve been wearing nursing bras for the past 6 weeks or so. I’m over underwire bras! But in the few times where an appropriate bra is needed I’ve had to get some bra extenders and they’ve helped a lot. I should probably dig out my old bigger cup bras but haven’t made it that far yet.
@anitamargarita_82 I'm with you! I got nursing bras about two months ago, my old bras stopped fitting after my 10wk point. I'm just sick of seeing cute tops or dresses that I cant wear because they arent conducive to wearing a bra with them.
@aefsparrow I feel this! While I don't *normally* wear clothes that don't require bras anyway (it's not something I can get away with in public, pregnant or not lol) I keep seeing ads for adorable off the shoulder tops or cute dresses that would in absolutely no way work for me right now.
