@psychobutthead bodies are weird, and pregnant bodies are even weirder! As long as you know you are doing your best to eat a balanced diet, taking your prenatals, not restricting etc, I'm sure it's just one of the many wonderful variations of normal. ❤️ I think if you were UNDERweight to start then that could be alarming but otherwise 🤷 I'm sure it's nbd
@psychobutthead with both my live birth pregnancies I gained 12 pounds total. I didn't exercise or change my diet. I also didn't gain that until third tri. If your doctor hasn't mentioned anything, I wouldn't worry. Baby is always going to take what they need first.
On the topic of weight gain. I’m not entirely sure what my exact weight was Pre pregnancy, my weight fluctuates but seems to stay around 135-140. I’m 5’9”. I was never one to keep track of my weight - I don’t own a scale but when I get the chance to weigh myself I do now. That being said the suggested amount of weight I should gain is 25-35lbs. I’ve already gained about 20-25lbs at 152lbs. In the last 3-4 weeks my weight gain has plateaued. When I read I should’ve only gained 2-4lbs in the first tri I was Shocked/nervous. I’ve been watching what I eat. I’m one of those ones that could pretty much eat whatever and not gain (PP). I’m definitely watching now as I want to consume more healthier options every time I eat. It is hard now being off work. I eat when I’m bored and I’m bored A LOT. I’m not as hungry as I was the last 3 months. I eat small portions. I’ll be trying to work out more at home while I’m off work as that was basically my daily workout.
@charhar0820 I am also not one to not weigh myself. I never do and also could not tell you what I weighed at the start of this pregnancy. I can't even tell you how much I gained with my last pregnancy! I believe that your doctor will tell you if your weight gain is a concern. You are doing the right thing by making smart food choices and staying active. It's definitely harder during these strange times. Many mama's mentioned above how strange bodies are during pregnancy. There is such a wide range of normal. You could always specifically ask your doctor if your worried!
@charhar0820 Try to remember that we are in the golden days of fluid retention. I used to weigh myself daily and use an app to log the weights to get an average, I had to stop that since getting pregnant... watching myself bloat up and down daily really freaked me out.. I was having 2-4 pound jumps at a time and honestly it was all water and bloat. Since I cut down how often I weigh I occasionally get spikes but for the most part I don't see that daily up and down and it's been so much better for my mental health. For a solid 2 weeks I held on to some water retention that had me up 4 pounds, then suddenly one day it just fell off and I sat about where I was there for a good long while give or take an ounce or two. Also just an echo, if your doctor isn't worried about your size, then try to relax. Pregnancy is magical and none of it really makes a whole lot of sense.
@laur84ns I have not felt definite movement from this baby at all and I'm 19 weeks on Thursday and it's my third! I feel ya!
@psychobutthead I lost in first trimester, leveled back out in second, and caught all the way back up third trimester with my first pregnancy! Just eat healthy or normal and try not to worry about the numbers on the scale.
Numb hands. Ugh. I hope this goes away after pregnancy. I haven’t really gained weight. I’m plus sized to begin with so I guess it’s ok. Baby already has room to grow.
@BusinessWife Me too! My sacroiliac joint pain is flaring up and I desperately need a chiropractor! I got nervous the other day wondering whether I’ll have to go my whole pregnancy without regular chiropractic care?! It’s the only thing that kept me pain free and able to exercise during my last pregnancy. And a massage would feel so good right about now!
@BusinessWife I am so sad massages can’t be a thing right now. I have had numerous back pain episodes over the past few years due to an old weightlifting injury and I feel like all this sitting around at home is not helping 😖
@psychobutthead If all of your appointments and ultrasounds have been ok I would not worry too much. I started at 153...and am 152 as of last night. I think everyone and every pregnancy is a little different and a better measurement of babys health is your ultrasounds/their size at this point! Obvi not an OB/GYN but thats just my thoughts. Maybe bring it up to your provider just so they are aware and see what they think?
@psychobutthead I've only gained 3 pounds at this point, and I was slightly overweight for my self/height when I got pregnant. I actually asked about it at my appointment this week and the midwife wasn't concerned because my uterus is still growing and baby's heartrate was good. She made it sound (to me at least) that the weight will come on faster now that baby's main job is just to grow grow grow.
This morning I was laying in bed feeling baby move (he's always more active when I first wake up) and I decided to push on my stomach and see what happened. My stomach moved! I couldn't believe it so I did it a few more times, and each time I pushed I waited a few seconds and then saw that little bump back!
For those needing chiropractic care, at least where I am my chiro is still open. I’ve still been going twice a week because I’ve been in so much pain. Might be worth checking if the benefit is worth it.

@sarah0985 What?! Really? Where I am, everything but grocery stores and gas stations basically are closed. Hmm. I’m going to call my chiro just in case she’s open!!
@laur84ns I’m in Wisconsin and it’s considered medical. I just went this morning and I’m so grateful because I’m a kindergarten teacher so normally CONSTANTLY moving. All of this change has really made everything worse in my back and my sciatic.. I’d definitely check.

I’ve had sharp random abdominal/pelvic pain for the past 2 days (?rlp maybe) low back pain (my SI joint and lumbar area) and just so physically tired. It’s too Early for these physical ailments! Come on body.
I had a cramp in my lower left side (where I think baby is) all night and still experiencing it. Needless to say I barely slept. I think I'll put a call into my MW office just to double check.

Update: I spoke with the MW and she wanted me to come into the office. Everything is fine with baby and she is currently sitting on my right side. They checked my cervix and it is fully closed. They think it may be that I strained a ligament and need to be more careful when moving around. They are checking my urine for an infection as well. I still have the pain, but so relieved that baby girl is fine.

@ziggymama06 I'm glad everything is okay, but that pain tho!? That is weird, i know any pains i have had like that tend to just be sporadic and pass pretty quickly. FX you're feeling better soon and there's nothing major going on. <3
