March Symptoms

Re: March Symptoms

  • Less nausea, insomnia, exhaustion, and hunger!

New symptoms: lightning crotch (ugh) round ligament pain when shifting positions, almost constant back and hip pain. I hate sleeping on my side!

  • @mrswheeler812 my MW assured me yesterday that this time, the mother's body will <i>FEEL IT</i> much more than the first time around... Woot.
  • I've got some lower back pain here and there. Hoping it doesn't get too bad still being so early!
  • I've had a few new symptoms this week. My blood pressure has got pretty low again, it was only 92/58 the other day. It defiantly got pretty low with me running around at work today and I felt pretty rough for a lot of the day.

I have also started to be negatively affected by lying on my back and my vena cava being compressed by the baby. I was quite badly affected by it in my last pregnancy and it looks like it's going to be the same this time. Obviously I'm not sleeping on my back but I can't even lie on my back for over a minute without having changes to my pulse and heart rate.
  • @cornichonmam What you just described as low has been my normal resting BP for the duration of my pregnancy so far. I am currently taking my blood pressure first thing in the morning and just before bed so I can monitor how it progresses and watch for the first sign of pre-e setting in again. My doctors haven't been concerned about it yet but you've got me wondering if this is too low again.

  • @RedBaramid and @cornichonmam low bp doesn’t cause any risk or harm to the baby, but you could get hurt if you stand up too quickly and pass out. Compression stockings, hydration and salt should help somewhat, but otherwise just move slowly and rest if you need it.

@roo_baby I know unless it is extremely low there isn't a risk for the baby. For me (I've had it with my son too) it means that my tolerance from getting dehydrated or too hot is very narrow, so I can go from feeling fine to feeling unwell fairly quickly. Like many other pregnancy symptoms it's annoying when you have it for months on end. I'm a teacher too, so I can't just have a 10 min sit down and a drink when I need to at work, so I have to have a very strict schedule of bathroom breaks, drinks and snacks. I hadn't thought about the compression stockings though, they might be worth a try if I know I'm going to have a busy day.

@RedBaramid My doctors haven't been worried either they have more been surprised that it was low. Mine is usually about 110/75, it might not be an issue for you if that is your usual BP. I actually felt fine when that BP was taken, it was more than likely lower than that when I got a bit dehydrated yesterday.
  • charhar0820 I too have aches and pains and loss of circulation during sleep. It as actually been the biggest issue now that I'm into my second trimester. I find that all I want to do is sleep on my back, but consciously know that is not the best idea. I also tried a pregnancy pillow thinking that would help, but it proved to be too short and I believe I will be sending it back.
Have you found any cure for your sleeping ailments? I'm open to any and all
  • @bbastianson I’ve just been using extra pillows! I use a small pillow between my legs to keep my back aligned, one behind my back. I do find myself on my back a bit so I prop myself with a small wedge pillow which was intended for a belly pillow but I find more comfortable on my backside. I got it on the Thyme maternity website on sale for about $10.
I was at a prenatal massage appointment recently where the masseuse had me bear hug a body pillow and I could’ve fallen asleep! I think I’ll just invest in a good body pillow rather then a big pregnancy pillow.
As for the loss of circulation, it hasn’t been happening as much so I’m not entirely sure what may have helped that.
    Hope you find comfort soon!
  • @bbastianson I slept curled up into a tiny ball the other night on my side so now I'm battling the aching shoulders and chest.  Last night I made myself a nice slope out of pillows so I could lay "flat" on my back and I put a couple extra pillows under my knees to give them a slight bend and elevation. This was able to give me that "flat" back feeling without cutting off circulation anywhere and without causing me the pain I quickly feel when I lay on my back.  Have you tried something similar?

  • @RedBaramid That's rubbish, but I'm not surprised with the very low fat diet you have to be on at the moment, fat is very satiating. Hopefully you'll get some good news tomorrow.
  • @RedBaramid I made a pie for the holiday yesterday, wish I could share with you!!

  • @RedBaramid
I haven't tried that yet, I think we need to buy more pillows first. I feel like my lower back hurts often so making a pillow slope with back support sounds like an amazing thing!! Def gonna look into how to make that happen!! Thanks!!
  • I'm soo glad y'all mentioned going numb bc I've been here this whole time thinking I had some weird neurological issue separate from being pregnant 😂 glad it's just another common symptom (but it doesn't feel disruptive to my sleep sometime). I've also been sleeping with a down pillow behind my back (in addition to my bbhugme pillow) and I think it's really helped with support and making sure I don't go flat while I sleep.

Baby's kicks feel different today (for the past week they have been pretty distinct, but today they feel more rumbly). Trying to not get too worked up...I feel like anxiety about the world is spilling over and looking for something to latch on to.
  • I wish I could feel baby move already!!! I’m nearly 17 weeks with my third so I thought I’d feel baby by now. I do not have an anterior placenta either so what gives?! I hope those sweet kicks and flutters are coming soon!
  • I have also noticed tingly/numbness in my hands/feet when sleeping, and sometimes throughout the day.  I've been trying not to sit a any strange positions and thought this was the beginning of GD or something!

I think I feel baby move... but it doesn't feel like flutters (or what I would imagine flutters to feel like)... it feels more like cramps/pressure for a second here and there... Is that baby moving?  I thought this would be a more pleasant feeling.

  • @ziggymama06 Hmm. The pressure could be baby, but I'm trying to think if kicks have ever felt like cramping for me...? I want to say no. Right now, at 17 weeks, it mostly feels like little bumps and nudges.
  • @ziggymama06 sometimes the movement is uncomfortable for me - especially if I’m wearing certain pants or in a certain position. I think maybe it’s the baby rolling or making big movements? I also feel smaller movements but not very often yet.

I’ve had such weird tastes in my mouth all week. I feel like nothing gets rid of it except continuing eat. What the heck?! Getting so fat.

  • Has anyone else felt like a period super strong pulling/zapping sensation in their belly? Like almost the same as kicks but like something is being dragged or pulled from the inside. Its been freaking me out.

I think I have something similar! I always describe it as feeling like someone plucked a muscle like a guitar string. Or like a muscle suddenly just ripped or like I got stabbed but without any pain. Almost a numb feeling as it happens. Kind of like hitting your funny bone without the tingly part.

It's super weird! I mentioned it to my midwives, and they said it could be small tears a muscle or just the response to stretching.
  • Hey so. I'm wondering about weight gain... I was a little overweight to begin with, so it was reccomended I only gain about 20 pounds for the whole pregnancy. I'll be 19 weeks on Tuesday and so far I've only gained 4 pounds... I'm just not sure if I am not gaining enough weight at this point?

@maggied26 for a healthy sized person with a healthy BMI normal weight gain in first trimester is considered between 2-4 pounds, and then up to a .5 pound per week in second trimester. Third trimester that goes up to a pound a week as far as what is considered healthy. When I got pregnant I had JUST crossed the threshold down from obese to just overweight, for reference I've gained 3.5 pounds at this point and my doctor is happy with where I am (I am 19 weeks today). I've been recommended to gain between 11 and 20 pounds for the duration of this and I'm giving it my all to do so lol! (While still being very mindful of what I am eating to make sure I eat enough of the right stuff) Visually speaking when I look at the pictures of myself it's starting to become slowly noticeable that my weight is more or less shifting to my abdomen. Most of my pre-pregnancy clothes all still fit, except for the stuff that goes snugly around the lower abdomen like jeans and very fitted t-shirts. Right now the game is about nutrition not weight. Just make sure you're eating enough of the good stuff.  Baby is gonna take what baby wants first.

  • @ziggymama06 Lol! During my last two, I've gotten tiny skin tags under my armpits! They weren't noticeable to anyone else, but I certainly knew they were there!
