We don't even have the house where the nursery is going to go yet! Heck we don't even have our house on the market yet. I might be freaking out a bit that we won't be moved in and ready for this baby!

@marfi236 We moved from GA to KY during my last pregnancy, and we finally arrived at our new duty station and received our household goods literally 9 days before our girl was born. It was hands down one of the most stressful times of my life, but we survived! Try not to panic yet. You still have some time! We sold our house to the first person who came to look at it. We did have some hiccups in the closing process, but even then, it only took a month and half, maybe two at the most to have everything signed, sealed, delivered. My realtor told me that close to summertime was a good time to list, too, because you're not up against major holidays, kids going back to school, etc.
@lachnessmomster funnily enough, the house that we're selling right now we bought when I was pregnant last time. Given that we plan to have this house listed in the next two weeks I know logically we will probably be fine. But that being said my son was born 6 weeks early so I want to be in the house no later than the beginning of July just in case!

Today is the day. Today I will clean out our spare room/ junk room. I just might even head out to our small town hardware store to look at paint swatches.
I’m torn between keeping a bed (futon) in the room for myself. I was looking on wayfair and found some nice chairs that fold out to a single bed, kinda pricy though. MH works crazy weird hours, he’s against the spare bed idea saying he’ll be fine but... I know better. I’m sharing a picture of this disaster area for motivation. In dec I personally cleaned this room out, I have no idea what happened to it 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
@charhar0820 Oh, the clutter makes me so happy, because I can just see the potential. There's nothing that brings me joy like cleaning up a disastrous closet or room in my house. I can't wait to see the final product!
Edited, because I used the word, "joy" multiple times, and I was starting to feel a little too Marie Kondo.
Progress. The smoker will go out when the temps aren’t hitting close to freezing anymore then we’ll figure out storage for the future late fall if we’re still in this house.
I was also thinking of using the dark cabinet as the change table. It’s a great height.
The second half of the room is all MH work clothes, random gear and so on we have Yet to organize. Basement (unfinished) storage solutions will be next along with the garage.
Futon frame is getting tossed as well. Our dog used that bed as her bed.. one night she threw up on it and we tossed the mattress
I’m planning on a Peter Rabbit themed nursery for baby boy. Soft blues, whites, and light gray. Can’t wait to start decorating! I absolutely loved designing a nursery for DD and can’t wait to do it again.
We got busy this weekend with the nursery. First up ,the laminate will be replaced with carpet. Next weekend we get the new carpet installed. The weekends after that we'll start putting stuff together. I think we'll leave the wall color as is - it's a soft pastell green. This is the fun part...
@charhar0820 Ignore him, put a daybed in the room now(or just something you can sleep on.. I say day bed because you'll just already have a bed for when the kid gets bigger eventually). Do not underestimate the fantastic-ness of having the ability to have one parent sleep in that room if the baby is having a fussy night and someone is sick and needs to rest in bed to recover. Also in case of fantastic friends or loved ones, once my sister in law spent the night at our place and slept on the spare bed in the baby's room and got up and down with baby all night so we could sleep a whole night through (except she would knock on the door to have me nurse, but then I got to go straight back to sleep because she soothed DD back down and changed the diapers and what-not). Having a sleeping surface for an adult in there is something that can be lived without, I admit it.. but holy cats we found is so worthwhile.
I decided today I’d start ordering furniture for the nursery! I ordered, the crib 5in1(in Mint 😍), the mattress, mattress protector, crib skirt/ dust ruffle (Grey with tassels), sheets, wall decals (stars and moon).
I’m really bummed I can’t get paint at this time. All stores that sell it are closed to public, curb side pick up only and I can’t order paint online ☹️. I’m not sure if this has been discussed somewhere else but, How many mattress protectors should I have? The mattress comes with one and I bought a pack of 2. Also I’m looking at a breathable bumper, so baby’s limbs don’t get caught in the bars.
I’m still sticking with the Mint/teal/grey/yellow. (possible coral) theme.
@RedBaramid I’m definitely going to put something in there for myself to sleep on when needed. I love the single seat/twin size couch/bed but I’m undecided. If I don’t do something like that, I’ll probably end up with just a blow up bed in a bag in there.
@charhAr0820 When I first purchased, we had 2. My daughter never had a problem with leaking and never threw up in her bed in that time before we moved. We sold everything and moved when she was 15 months. We now have a plastic mattress and 1 cover and even through a stomach bug I never felt like I needed more.
I think 3 is MORE than plenty.

We are team green again so I think I'll wait to get a lot of decor for baby until they're here. I did a lot of green/grey/yellow with my DD and am kinda over it. I guess I could maybe do teal? Any unique gender neutral ideas? So sick of grey and green
Married July 2014 DD born June 2016 Second due August 2020 (team green!)
@samsonator I’m struggling a lot too. I did a Cubs/baseball theme for my first team green. And I loved it but don’t want to repeat but can’t find anything g else I like. I wish I could go to a hobby lobby or buy buy baby to see stuff in person to spike my interest because I can’t find a single thing online that I like.

I never actually "did" DS' nursery, and yet over time it's evolved into a somewhat cohesive look. I find kid stuff -- stuffed animals, toys books, bedding etc. has so much color and spunk it becomes it's own sort of theme. Anyway, this LO will room in with us for the first 6-8 months (hopefully) and then move in with DS, so I'm thinking we'll wait and find out boy/girl and then start decorating a proper toddler room for the two of them to share.
@samsonator For a gender neutral nursery, I love a really deep blue or green with natural wood accents, maybe some mustard thrown in? Another fun option is just COLOR. Lots of brights can look great together if you keep each splash of color on the smaller side.
I’m team green and I plan on just doing an accent wall in a deep hunter green color and the rest will remain a cream color. My furniture will be white and I plan to do a combo of gold and natural material accents.
@ziggymama06 Awe thank you! I feel in love with another crib that was the same colour, the company doesn’t ship to Canada so I searched and searched and found that one. It comes in a few unique beautiful colours! The reviews were great and the price was even better! Everything I ordered has an estimated delivery time of minimum one month. I’m sure it may probably take even longer.
We are doing a woodland forest adventure vibe for our baby. We are team green so we have to keep it neutral. we have woodland creature photos coming soon to hang up and birch tree decals 🤗 but so far just the rug and paint. Lots of blues in the picture but it’s really very grey and white
@charhar0820 I love that crib... I think your nursery is going to come together so nicely. I too am anxiously awaiting all the furniture I've ordered. The crib was supposed to be here on April 1, but FedEx lost it and now it's backordered. Do you think you could order sample pots of paint to pick up and then test them and make a final decision? I know that's not the same as getting a ton of swatches but could maybe be an option. I actually got my paint ages ago but then everything happened and I haven't been able to get any family or friends to come inside to help me do it. So ready for it to be done!
@emiliadkay you just described my vision for my nursery! I'm painting it a deep green/blue color (kind of nervous b/c the color is quite dark), and then will have mostly white furniture, but the bookcase and crib both are a natural wood color with white trim. I'm thinking of the wall color almost as a neutral and using it as a good background to bring in lots of colorful decor. I was struggling a bit at first b/c so many things I saw for a "boys" nursery were more muted and I really wanted it to feel bright and cherry. A few things I've ordered:
Both of those arrived yesterday and I'm really happy with the quality! I'm bringing in some prints I already have and some that I ordered that are meaningful to me and his dad.
@samsonator I started working on DD"s room before I knew she was a she and I went with just color! I picked out rainbow poka-dot crib sheets and made homemade wall decals for above her closet with scrapbook paper in animal silhouettes. I honestly picked out a crib sheet that I liked that was rainbow colored and just picked accent colors from it and went with it. Then I kept the furniture all white since that's just what I liked. I had rainbow colored bins for storing things on the shelf to match the sheets. By the time baby girl came across and people started piling in the extra pinks, yellows, and purples it just didn't matter because bright and colorful had been established.
@fitandnerdy lulu lollipop! They are on a few sites but I ordered from buy, buy, baby. I also got the cutest NYC swaddle in honor of his dad, a native New Yorker. They are really soft and they look just as nice in person. They have so many cute, quicky options (sushi rolls, tacos, etc)
You guys are getting me even more excited about upgrading DDs big girl room!
These are the mini crib sheets we have...
Babyletto Tranquil Woods And the minicrib that will stay side-carred in our room for the new baby
And DDs new big-girl sheets!
Target Cloud Nine Birch Trees Delighted to get the text update that her new mattress has already shipped! 👏👏 To start off we will keep her on a floor bed, I.e. full size crib mattress on the floor, but then if we go ahead and do the legit toddler bed thing, most likely this is the one I'm looking at, same brand as the mini crib, so I know the finishes will all match the existing dressers etc.
For reference...
We have a shaker panel style platform bed in our room, and I've been so pleased with how they all coordinate! I had thought about keeping it a straight headboard for the toddler/full bed, but I'm not sure how much it matters. I kind of like how the curve is still handsome, but maybe a bit more feminine. But when the time comes, if we were to have a boy and a girl both in full size, I also have a lovely feminine brass bedframe DD may end up using, where the crib frame I think could suit well either a boy or a girl for that.
DDs / New Baby's changing dresserSo for a smaller dresser, it's still a tossup between the taller 5-drawer dresser that matches this one, or else a shorter 3- or 4- drawer version made by the crib manufacturer. 🤷. I'll have to warm DH up a bit to that part though lol ...and possibly eventually nightstands, but most likely we will get the real nightstands to match the bed first, and the kids would inherit our little cheapo ones. :). The brass bed already has adorable ones I got at Pier One tho, so she would more likely just need a white chest of drawers at that point to complete that room. Can you tell I'm getting ahead of myself??? Lol

We want to do an ocean/mermaid theme. A family friend is going to make us some sheets, so we've been looking at fabric to order. I want to paint the walls based off of the colors in the fabric. These are my top three favorites:
@rivercitynik oh my gosh I love those crib sheets!!!! I was cruising amazon yesterday just browsing bedding for ideas and there was the sweetest lama inspired baby quilt! Much like the sheets you have! They unfortunately did not ship to Canada 😢. crossing my fingers BBB Canada has those sheets!
We aren't making a nursery for baby yet as we were supposed
to be moving before they arrive, now it's going to be hopefully before they
turn 6-8 months.
For DSs room (we were team green then too) we painted the
walls cream and it has a light beige carpet. We went for an animal/jungle theme
with accents in pastel yellow, aqua, green and orange. His room is tiny (6.5f
by 6.5f) so we couldn’t go too bold with the decorations. We got a rug,
curtains and a lamp shade from Ikea and that was enough really to give the room
some colour.
We do have an amazing mobile that we were given that I will
try to remember to take a picture of.
@charhar0820 I like the cot, ours is very similar but with
plane wood frame and yellow bars.
@catana15 Yep, what @kgrgreen said. All 3 are beautiful (and would lend themselves to very different decor/color schemes, which is probably even more important) but I heart-eyes-emoji that 3rd option.
So! Work is finally going to start on the nursery today! My parents are coming over to paint and I'm excited but nervous! (As evidenced by three exclamation points in a row 😂) The new color is a deep green-blue and in my mind it will feel cozy and not like a dungeon but 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Here's a before shot:
Wish I had taken a pic of the room when it was set up as my office but instead I just have this messy paint prep shot. I loved my bright, cheery pink room and am a little sad to see it go, but I'm going to use this color on one wall in the new combo guest room/office/play space so it'll still be in the mix.
We are making progress on our nursery. We had a carpet tech installing new flooring last weekend. Next weekend we'll paint the trims and start butting the crib together. Our theme overall will be leaning towards Woodland animals and our colors will be light green, white and grey. This has been one of the fun parts...
I’m so jealous of all of these beautiful nurseries coming together! We will have a shared kids’ room so there’s not much for us to do besides buy a toddler bed and bedding and clear out some drawer space. And even that we could wait and do after baby arrives since she will be in our room at first.

Lol

crossing my fingers BBB Canada has those sheets!
We aren't making a nursery for baby yet as we were supposed to be moving before they arrive, now it's going to be hopefully before they turn 6-8 months.
For DSs room (we were team green then too) we painted the walls cream and it has a light beige carpet. We went for an animal/jungle theme with accents in pastel yellow, aqua, green and orange. His room is tiny (6.5f by 6.5f) so we couldn’t go too bold with the decorations. We got a rug, curtains and a lamp shade from Ikea and that was enough really to give the room some colour.
We do have an amazing mobile that we were given that I will try to remember to take a picture of.
@charhar0820 I like the cot, ours is very similar but with plane wood frame and yellow bars.
ETA @rivercitynik how did the painting go?
@BusinessWife they just finished and I'm really happy with it! Even though it's dark it still feels cheerful!
I love the color @rivercitynik ❤️
