@rivercitynik I love that paint colour! It’s beautiful. So nice that your parents came over to help - we are in a shelter in place province so I was hoping our in-laws would help out with some painting but we are all self isolating right now so they can’t Maybe once this physical distancing stuff eases up here we’ll get some help - the room that is going to be our nursery needs a coat of paint badly!
@roo_baby I hear you, but I guess I am excited about bedding, lol and if I could just commit to pull the trigger on our toddler bed... I'd be excited about that too! I was thinking about buying a dresser, but it sounds like for now DH wants to start by giving her a couple lightweight drawers we have, so I'm cool with that for now. I was thinking about one of those toddler size garment racks so she can take her dresses or blouses off the hanger, have her nicer shoes out etc. I have a new mobile to hang as well, and I'm thinking about finally asking MIL for the sewn name letter hanger things, like the one my mom's BFF made for me when I was a little girl. 😊 I even have some decal space to work with, so I feel like there's a lot of potential! How old again are the kids that will be sharing?
@BusinessWife that will be a nice refresh! Where are you finding cute toddler bedding? Mine will be about 3 yrs apart, and I think the sharing will happen gradually. I’m hoping my 6 mo we can get them fully transitioned, but we will see how it goes.
I just have a crib sheet from Target so far, if you scroll up I have it spoilered there, the Birch trees! @roo_baby she's got a couple soft, fleecy blankies and lovies (omg the saranoni are to die for!) We've had for a while but I've not given her till now, and we may be introducing a small pillow soon, too, even just with a blue sky and clouds I think was a cute cover I saw. :)
She's 19m now, so they will be almost 2y apart by the time baby gets here. We will plan to room the baby in with us for a while, but put a simple bassinet in the nursery / kids room for daytime naps. 🤷
Do you have a current theme in there you're trying to stick with?
@charhar0820 I am short (5.3) so I had a hard time to find a low rocker so my feet actually touch the ground sitting in it. This one does the trick - and it was on sale at Wayfair.
@strawberryfields82 Omg, I love it! Do you have a link to that rocker? I was just thinking last night about squeezing one in somewhere! It'll be tight, but this will be the third kid I'm waking up in the middle of the night to soothe. Would be nice to at least have a place to sit down and relax.
@strawberryfields82 Perfect! Thank you so much! It looks like it's out of stock right now, but I entered my email to be notified when they get more. Bummed that I'll likely miss the sale, though!
This is ours @lachnessmomster I may have found the same chair for less at HD? Not sure how tall you are, but I'm 5'6" and DH is almost 6'. We both can sit in it comfortably, but I need the ottoman to rock in it; his feet touch the floor.
@BusinessWife That is a beautiful chair! I am a mere 5'2", which is why I was intrigued when @strawberryfields82 mentioned she could rock in hers comfortably. I don't think I'd have room for an ottoman. 😭
Ladies, I need some input. I was planning on using a piece of furniture I already have for a changing station- as I don’t see myself really using it All that much but wanted it anyway. Well, turns out the pieces I had to use won’t work as I just measured it all out yesterday. So I’ve been looking at options trying to get ideas on what to do. Do I buy a change table with 3 drawers for storage then eventually get rid of it to bring in a dresser? Or do I go for a dresser off the hop? I found this antique dresser that had been refinished and it just so happens it’s almost the same mint colour as the crib I ordered! The measurements are right! It has a mirror but I could always remove it if I feel it’s unsafe. I showed MH my ideas and he said the dresser is too girly if it’s a little boy we’re having. 🙄 I don’t agree and it can always be stripped, stained or painted if that were the case lol! Anywho, I’ll attach a picture- the crib has yet to ship, the rug I got yesterday. I have my choice of two chairs I can use I have on hand. All depends on how much space I have and what furniture I go with!
I have a lot of mint going on in this room. So I went with a charcoal/ivory rug. And I’ll be getting some bright yellow curtains to hang. I canceled my wall sticker stars. So paint and wall decor is still up in the air lol the colour of the room now is almost exactly the same as the colour in the stock crib photo!
My rocker, it’s big and comfy I would just need to get a foot rest or floor pillow to go with it.
This is a peach swivel chair. It’s cozy, close to the ground. It doesn’t have a neck support or rock.
@charhar0820 Personally, we just bought a dresser right off the bat and had a soft changing pad on top that I could easily wipe down. I figured it would be more useful in the long run. I actually did use the pad quite a lot, but it's nice to just throw it in the closet when I'm through with it. When I found out I was pregnant for a third time, I went ahead a bought another dresser for the guest room, since my first two are already sharing the other one. I'll do the same system with the changing pad. I am in LOVE with your nursery! I can't wait to see the finished product!
@lachnessmomster Thank you! I’m anxious to get it together so I can really get into the details. This is keeping my sanity (somewhat 😜) in the madness of everything lol.
I guess I’m just worried if that dresser is practical for a baby-toddler room.
There’s another I was looking at, it’s $100 more and not close to the same quality as the antique. I’m struggling lol
I would go with the dresser! Don't buy something that serves a temporary function and plan to replace. We got a nice big dresser that's plenty long enough and also wide enough to accommodate a changing pad.
Style wise if you end up feeling it's too girly, and you <i>do</i> have a boy, you can always deal with that later 🤷 if you have a girl, it's moot, and even a boy would be a baby for a good long time before he's able to express any such preference; the most important nothing is that YOU like it. :) [ETA safety wise, plan to remove the mirror for now. Mirrors can be fun in a baby or toddler's room, but they have acrylic ones you can attach to the wall.]
If you <i><b>really</b></i> want to go more unisex, maybe you'll find something more mid-century? We went sort of Shaker/mission style with everything. But personally, I love how the curves soften and bridge the gap between the rocker and the crib. Stick with the rocker and maybe have the swivel available in your own BR? Thoughts ❤️
@charhar0820 I totally thought I’d never use the changing table either. Turns out, it’s all I used. We only have ever had 1 floor though. Not sure if it’s be the same if I had to go up stairs. I had a changing table initially. It worked just fine. When we moved to the US though we did the dresser route. It’s a large 3 drawer chest and can easily be used till she’s older. It’s wht we are doing with this baby too.
I know a lot of people like the ikea 6 drawer and it has plenty of space for changing.

We had a changing table in her room that didn’t get used much at the beginning because she was sleeping with us. We have a main floor master so we had a pack and play with a changing table combo set up in our room that we used for a long time. We will have a similar setup this time.
Definitely a dresser. That antique one goes perfectly! And I don't think it's too girly for a boy if you end up adding some masculine elements to the room once you know gender. You might want to add a small caddy or basket on top with a handful of diapers, creams, wipes, etc. and that's all you really need. That's going to be such a cute nursery!!
roo_baby add me to the room sharing club. I didn't do much with my daughters room as far as decorating wise, but it was just fun to put everything together. I had to order new screws for the crib because I did not do a good job at saving them together like I thought I did, so it's going to take 2-3 weeks for them to get here.
We won't have a changing table this time around, but we used our all of the time. We did save the pad and will just use that on top of my daughters bed or just on the floor. We are making due with the space that we have. I did like seeing the changing pad on top of the dresser or as a side attachment on the crib. I saw it a little more useful then paying a plain changing table that's by itself.

@charhar0820 I love that dresser, for a girl or boy! I think you can accessorize a bit more after the fact to make the room feel more masculine or feminine. Add me to the never use the change table in the nursery club. I honestly don’t think I’ve changed my 1 yo on it once! It depends on the set up of your space though, probably. We have a 3 story house, so we have a change table on the main floor that we use often. We don’t use the one in the nursery at all. For this baby, I won’t bother buying a change table!
@charhar0820 I really like the dresser and think it could work in a room for either a boy or a girl.
I heard from two places today to schedule furniture delivery and I'm so excited! The dresser, bookcase, rug, and floor lamp will all be here this weekend. I think it will feel so nice to actually have some stuff in the room and I'm excited to have the dresser so I can start putting some clothes away 😸
Well, we're getting there with the nursery. The crib, dresser, and mattress have arrived but have not been opened yet. My mom ordered the glider for us and it should be here in a few weeks. I also ordered a mobile with hot air balloons that I love and it should be here sometime in May (although it is shipping from the UK so who knows). Most importantly, we are almost done painting! Painting over brown is not easy, and the previous owner even painted the entire closet brown so I'll be really happy when it's all done. Then I can finally start setting things up!
@charhar0820 I love that dresser! I definitely don't think it is too girly if you end up having a boy. And I agree with @BusinessWife that you should go ahead and remove the mirror.
That's lovely! @bigbuttbecky we have a similar wall color and woodland theme as well, our print colors are just a bit more bold, and we did a different style of tree decals. I love your prints and the birch trees!
@bigbuttbecky i love it! Love the cute animal prints!

Thanks every one!!! Glider is coming next week and then we will basically be done! We are team green so once baby comes we can add more gender style accents and name!! It makes me feel better and in more control to have the room ready. I friend of mine just gave birth 2.5 months early and it set me in a tizzy. I also have a dog who will need to acclimate to the new addition!
So previously I didn't have a theme in mind. Bit we are going with red and black buffalo plaid and animals. Our bedding set and mobile came today. I need to put up curtains and get some wall decorations. But decorations are next on my list.
