March 2020 FET

Re: March 2020 FET

  • @minnesotalove @inthewoods23 - My clinic didn't warn me at all....that would have been super helpful! I am 3 days post-ER and feeling slightly better. I'm not going to dare trying to eat a burger this week but a Red Robin burger sounds amazing right now!

Good luck @minnesotalove with your stims this week and crossing my fingers all goes well for you during your ER!!

  • @dreamingofabump the EXACT SAME THING happened to me. My crappy (original) clinic just sent me on my merry way after ER and I went on to eat a sandwich for lunch and then a steak dinner...By 10p I was throwing up and writhing on the bathroom floor in pain. I called the MD on call at 1am asking if this was normal and they thought something had ruptured until I told him what I ate...he basically laughed and said, "Never went under anesthesia before huh?" WTF? It did go away after a few days of being in pain....but I am SO SO sorry you had to deal with this as well.

AFM - I had my lining check today. I'm at 6.7mm so I'm waiting on them to call me back to see if I'll have to take Estradiol Valerate shots prior to transfer on Tuesday to get my lining up. That's what I've had to do my last 2 transfers, just hoping my new clinic allows that instead of postponing the transfer.

  • @dreamingofabump @covergirl2985 oh man! I can't believe they wouldn't say anything! It was part of our discharge info. They may have even told us prior, I can't remember. The ER was almost 9 months ago! I think I ate pretty light at lunch (mostly snack stuff), but I was feeling pretty good by mid afternoon so when my dad had asked about getting lunch we said yes. I thought I would have stomach issues having gone through surgery, but I guess if it's not messed with, my body digestively is completely back to normal. I must be one of few who has no major complications or anything from being put under. I got lucky too not ending up with OHSS. I was probably pretty close since they put me on cabergoline and asked me to only trigger with half a dose (5000) instead of the 10.

  • @inthewoods23 - they have me on the cabergoline as well for 8 days total.

@covergirl2985 - so sorry to hear about what you went through. We go through so much during this process. You would hope that post-ER is the easiest part. At least I won't make that mistake twice! Did you hear back on if you are going to do the Estradiol shot? What number are they looking for your lining to be for transfer?

@dreamingofabump no estrogen shots for me. He wants me to continue the pills 3x/day and I have another lining check tomorrow. Hopefully, I will be at 7mm by then and get the OK for Tuesday's transfer.

UPDATE 2/28: Lining check was great! I am at 7.5mm, however, they pushed my transfer to 3/9 since I have to be on PIO for 6 days and won't start until 3/3 bc I'm out of town 3/4-3/7...there goes my 3/3/3 :) either way, I feel great about this transfer!

  • Just got my 6 day update...they weren't ready yet yesterday. 4 out of the 12 embryos made it to freeze.  I was so flustered by the call that I forgot to ask reasons for why the other ones didn't make it and now I feel sillycallinh back. Anyone with more experience know the reasons why they don't make it to the freezing stage?
  • @dreamingofabump if they werent a blastocyst by day 6 then they werent going to be viable. Embryos need to be transferred or frozen by day 6 to survive.
4 is a great number though!

Happy March everyone!! Hopefully this is our month!

After an almost 40 day cycle (uugghhh! Why when I’m itching to get started does AF take forever?!) I think AF is right around the corner...some light spotting tonight so hopefully day 1 will be tomorrow or Tuesday to get this show on the road!!

  • @mtpbadger that's amazing!! What a miracle! I have my fx for you that everything works out.

I'm catching up with all of you after being away for about a week. I had my baseline ultrasound on Friday and got the go-ahead to start meds. I hate to say it, but I'm just not feeling that optimistic.  My baseline measurement was 1.4, and both canceled cycles I haven't been able to get more than 4 mm of growth.  I've started drinking pom juice and am making sure I'm getting lots of water and some exercise everyday to encourage blood flow, but I can't say I have very high expectations.

  • @caitb13 thanks! I go back tomorrow to see if it doubles so am still really anxious and cautious

I always had issues with thin lining and my RE said some women just have naturally thin linings. With my successful transfer my lining was like a 5.3ish. We tried everything under the sun to get it thick medication wise and nothing worked. Even acupuncture didn’t do much. Not sure if I mentioned this before but I ended up trying chiropractic bc I had some something about being out of alignment can cause lack of blood flow to the uterus. That’s the only thing I did differently that cycle. Not sure if it actually helped or not!
  • Omg @mtpbadger I just got goosebumps!  Fx this is your sticky peanut!!!! 😹😹😹
  • @mtpbadger so excited for you! What a blessing!

I’m good to go for my FET on Monday, but had the smallest amount of spotting today. Is that normal? I’m on day 4 of PIO and day 18 of estrogen. I think I may have taken 4 estrace pills yesterday instead of 3...maybe that’s the cause?
    Anyone else have that?

  • @covergirl2985 do you take the estate orally or vaginally? If vagianlly, it could just be irritated down there. I’ve had a little spotting bc of that in the past. If orally I have no clue!
  • @covergirl2985 GL tomorrow! I agree with @mtpbadger that anything for vaginal insertion can cause some irritation and spotting. Some people do also have spotting around O for some reason.

AFM, AF showed up for me yesterday so I'll be doing my baseline soon. Hope my estrogen levels are low because they were a little high last time and my biopsy cycle almost got cancelled/postponed. Looking forward to the end of March!

  • @mtpbadger sorry, been a little MIA lately but so happy for you!! That is crazy you went from expecting to doing a transfer this month to getting such amazing news. This journey sure does take us all over the place.

AF finally showed up on Friday so going in for a baseline today. This will be my first time so I have no idea what they are looking for as a good number. Crossing my fingers all goes well.

@inthewoods23 looks like we may end up transfer buddies! So it sounds like starting with a lower estrogen level is better?
  • @dreamingofabump my clinic likes to see estrogen below 70 or 75 for FETs but I'm always a little above that in my baselines. Last time though I was in the 90s so they had me up the dosage and frequency of the lupron for 2 days and rechecked. I got down into the upper 80s and they were okay with moving forward.

I get the go ahead when the follicles look nice and quiet, progesterone is low, and estrogen is lower than 75 (or at least close in my case).

My FET is scheduled for 3/31. When is yours?

  • Hi all! I am not new to IF but it’s been a long time. When I went back to my RE for the first time in 3.5 years she said it all has changed and for a FET it’s BC for a couple days and straight to PIO. No Lupron no estrogen! I cannot believe how much this has changed. Anyone have experience with this? I had my hysteroscopy on Friday and I am waiting on a call to start PIO and then a transfer is 12ish days! I cannot believe it’s so fast now. I cannot see my sig so if there is anything that need sit be changed, please let me know. I don’t want to hurt feelings here, I know how hard this journey is.

  • @covergirl2985 great news on the FET today! How are you feeling?

@inthewoods23 they gave me a tentative date after my apt today. Looking at FET on 3/27 right now. My estrogen was at 79.

Starting estrace 3 x day and 1 patch every 3 days. Next apt is next week. It really starts to move fast after AF shows up.
  • @dreamingofabump nice! Sounds like you're all good to go! The 27th will be here before you know it!

@covergirl2985 10 days should go by nice and quick!

@FishyMom that's doesn't really sound right, but I'm not a doctor! My protocol has always been BC, then lupron, add in estradiol valerate after 2 weeks or so, then PIO for 5 days before transfer.

  • @fishymom no estrogen? Hmmm, I’ve never heard of that and thought some sort of estrogen was pretty standard unless someone is doing a natural FET. The estrogen I think is pretty important to make sure the uterine lining gets to the optimal thickness before starting the PIO.
  • Hi all, sorry for my ignorance? What is PIO? I dont see it listed on the visitor page
  • @dreamingofabump PIO stands for progesterone in oil

  • @inthewoods23 and @mtpbadger I haven’t either. My last 3 FETs were lupron, estrace, and pio. I’m willing to do whatever they want. My RE said that for a while there was some trouble with Lupron being hard to get and back ordered so they tried a new protocol and it was just as successful. IDK. Hopefully this cycle isn’t a waste.

I had a lot of bleeding this morning which I don’t think should happen on active BC pills, but I just got my iud out Friday. I need to call my clinic and let them know. I’ll have to keep you all in the loop since this is a new protocol for all. I was thinking we would all be in the same boat. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • @FishyMom hmm interesting that you would go straight from the IUD removal to a FET. At least with my clinic, they would probably want things to regulate a bit before even going on BC. Like have a period first, then BC.

AFM, had my baseline this morning. Everything looked good on the US and my estrogen was at 29!! It's never been below 70. Holy cow. I guess the diet must be doing something! I'm all good to start the estradiol valerate injections on Thursday

  • Hi everyone! Been quiet for a bit, but wanted to share our update. I’m officially on the sidelines for a transfer this month and April as well. During my stims/ultrasound we found a large dermoid cyst in my right ovary. Given its size, they want me to have it removed before we proceed. I’ve got a laparoscopic surgery scheduled for the 27th of this month, but have been told multiple times that it is likely they’ll have to remove the whole right ovary. It’s weird and unfortunate, but I’m OK with this being a possibility. I am thankful for our embryo results post PGS testing: we have 12! Which is ridiculously incredible and we are speechless - it just really helps prove the theory that we were both healthy, but I had awful plumbing (I hate saying it like that, but there’s really no better way to describe it, ha).

So, I’m back to waiting! That’s honestly the hardest part about all of this... when you’ve been trying for years to get pregnant and you’re finally THIS CLOSE and you’re told you have to wait a little longer. We’re praying that the surgery remains laparoscopic and requires no ovary removal. (That way my recovery time is kept minimal and we can get back to planning for a transfer... maybe in May). I’m trying not to be so bummed out by not being able to aim for a 2020 baby anymore.
