    @JessDG

    Hubby picked Potty Training in 3 Days by Brandi Brucks. It is quick read and really good. He also got a book The Potty Boot Camp but we are mainly using the first. I like she suggest potty seat vs potty chair so you don't train them twice (my gf mentioned it too).

    DS has showed no interest despite being in school and seeing others. He'll sit on the potty for two seconds but that's it. He has seen the underwear and wanted to wear them and not diaper so hoping it is motivation!

    It'll be a long/messy day/weekend. LOL

    I think everyone I know sweara by/uses/read the Oh Crap book/method but I let hubby take lead. In talking with friends it seems a lot of tactics used are the same/similar.

    That's great your son shows interest and you have to stall him! LOL

    I haven't read any books yet and I've heard about the Oh Crap one.  I'll have to check out the others.

    Our babysitter puts them on backwards (which I have NEVER heard of!) which actually works pretty well.  When we are out in public, we don't need a seat and it is harder for him to fall in.  We just have to stop him from touching everything haha.  We will see how things progress once we get him into pull ups/underwear etc.
  • Ugh I woke up today with my throat on fire, today's google searches are going to be heavy in the "home remedies for a sore throat" and "can pregnant people have cough drops". Send tea and sympathy (but mostly tea)  :#

  • Also, symptoms of corona virus (it just hit the suburbs of my city which is deeply unfun) though I know intellectually that my hand washing is the best defense/the flu is much more prominent.
  • @mehugg Your dream made me chuckle this morning. I hope your dream catchild was healthy!
    @modoodles The clip on tie. That's so cute.
    @busymom247 Good luck with the potty training! Every time I have to wrestle my 16 month old down for a diaper change I think to myself "when can I start potty training?" lol.
  • My husband is gone on a ski trip today with his school. He hasn't skiied in like 20 years. I'm so nervous he will get injured... for purely selfish reasons. 1) he is the worst sick/injured person ever. I know my vows were "in sickness and in health" but I was/am reallyyy hoping for a whole lotta health. He broke his ankle when we were engaged and holy moly that was a long few months. 2) I need him to parent with me. haha. worst wife :D
  • @pocketrose
    As someone just getting over a cold, yes you can have cough drops!  I used a lot of vick's vapor rub too and Honey and lemon in tea or hot water.  For my sinus pressure and pain, I was just really able to take tylenol and do some saline rinses.

    I hope you feel better!  I hate not being able to take a hardcore decongestant.

    We are going to our town's big consignment sale (happens twice a year) today after work.  MIL always goes with SIL earlier than us and wants to buy all of DS's clothes for us.  My SIL lets her foot the bill every time they go and she feels bad that we pay for our own kid's clothes...like we are supposed to as parents haha.  I told her last week that I really enjoy shopping for my kid's clothes so she didn't buy anything yesterday and stopped by yesterday with a gift card for way more $ than we plan to spend.  I guess I'm getting some extra fun stuff this time!
  • @JessDG I highly recommend Oh Crap! for PTing. It's not like this for every kid, but DD went from showing zero interest to PT after one weekend. It was so. damn. easy.
  • @blaf322 I know you didn’t want responses, but I just have to throw this out. When I had VP with my daughter, after 28 weeks when there was no chance of movement, I had them stop telling me and just move forward with the CS plans. It was easier for me to know, than constantly hope and wonder. I hope you have movement of the vessels by your next scan, but if not, I hope your provider can give you the peace of mind and a plan for moving forward.
  • @blaf322 I think the hope is completely understandable and a bunch of internet strangers can at least send you energy that there's room for hope.  And certainly, I'm with you that the more details and data you know the less stressful.

    Thanks y'all!
    @kc0711 no worries... I just didn't want people to feel like they had to say SOMETHING. Ya know?
    I plan to do the same as you and just kind of move forward with plans for a CS as long as nothing has changed in a couple of weeks. I'm eager to get into the office so I can ask questions about bed rest and things like that. My OB said the likelihood that I'll go on BR is very low, given my history of delivering DD at 41 wks.... but I'm only her 2nd case of this (she's seen it within her practice though) so I just want to hear it all from someone who I feel knows more... if that makes any sense.

    ETA- did you go on bed rest? Sorry, I can't remember if you told me this already!
  • @pocketrose I would say mid may would be best. You never know if you’re going to deliver early, so a month is cutting it short. Plus you’ll feel a bit better that extra months earlier too!
  • @modoodles isn’t it wonderful when we have days like that?! I just had one yesterday too, after feeling pretty depressed for a few days, so it was like the sun came out and I finally had some energy to organize the kids outgrown clothes and closets!
  • @busymom247 ahh keep us (me) posted on how the potty training goes! I feel like we may be taking the plunge soonish (DD turned 2 yesterday).

  • @blaf322 I did, but that was because I went in to preterm labor at 24+ weeks. I have a connective tissue disorder, so it was a crappy perfect storm. PTL is very common with my disorder, and it was dangerous because of the VP. I was on medication to control the contractions until delivery. Had I not gone into PTL, I wouldn’t have needed the bed rest.
  • @kc0711 ah, yes... I remember you saying that now! Sorry for the memory lapse on my part!

    @mrsdrez I hear you. MH has had a cold twice during my pregnancy so far and has gone to the doctor both times 🙄 also my friend who just had a baby in Feb, her H tore a muscle in his shoulder at the gym when she was like 8 months along. She was not pleased with his lessened ability to help her out!

    @blaf322 I hear you. It's hard sitting around waiting for answers. FX the next few weeks go by quickly and the appt yields a helpful set of info and plans!

    ETA @rachstar18 YAY! that's great news!!
  • WWJ20D.... Backstory- we have to get another bucket car seat for this baby b/c we'll need to have 2 unless the same parent wants to do pick up and drop off from daycare (which I don't want to do).... they let us leave car seats there with DD but have since stopped allowing that.

    1- Get another Britax B-Safe 35, like the one we have (we already have a compatible stroller and bases to go with it)
    2- Get the Graco Uno2Duo travel system with the standing board on the back of the stroller so DD can stand and ride with the baby/look at him.

    Things to note:
    *price is close to the same for both options so I'm not worried about cost difference here
    *DD is OBSESSED with babies and with pushing things (strollers, shopping carts, etc) but also has the attention span of a normal 3yo so who knows if she'd be into actually riding.
    *The Graco stroller is double the weight of the Britax one (36lbs vs 18lbs)
    *We wouldn't get any additional Graco bases if we go that way. One car would have a Graco and the other would have a Britax. The interchangeability between cars isn't really needed if you basically have a stationary bucket seat.
  • @rachstar18 congrats, that is the best news! I’m hoping hard that none of my kids get celiacs until they’re at least old enough to comprehend things. Or ever, obviously. Really happy you don’t have to deal with all that for a toddler!
  • @rachstar18 that's awesome news!

    @blaf322 why did they stop letting you leave bucket seats? That sucks! I feel like I would lean towards another Britax.
  • @blaf322 I love our Britax so that’s my vote, but only because I love it so much
  • @blaf322 I vote 2nd britax
  • @Pascal86 it’s such a relief especially with other kids. I’m so thankful!

  • @blaf322 the Britax. The weight alone completely sold it for me.
  • @blaf322 what?! Why won’t they let parents leave car seats there anymore? I don’t get that at all. I don’t have experience with either, but I’d vote against Graco just based on the weight of the stroller. That’s crazy heavy for a stroller, and then add DD’s weight on top of it if she’s riding? No thanks.

    @rachstar18 yay! Great news!
  • @blaf322 That's a bummer about no longer being able to leave the seat. I wonder what changed? I was definitely coming to vote for the stroller lol but it seems I'm in the minority. I'm probably just projecting my needs into your situation haha.
  • Given that a giant dose of nyquil, aka my preferred way to battle a cold/sore throat beyond tea, is out of the question, does anyone have a thought of Tylenol PM vs Benadryl? I think both are approved medicines to take. Plus some sort of cough drop/throat spray, the goal is to sleep tonight and be able to teach a morning theater class I cannot miss.
  • @pocketrose both Tylenol PM's and Benadryl's main ingredient that causes the drowsiness/sleepiness is diphenhydramine, so i would say go with whatever you have haha

    Second TTGP: started meds for first cycle of tx on 10/13/21

  • @knockupthestock It would be purchased although H may have some (likely expired) benadryl floating around somewhere.
  • @pocketrose I’d vote Tylenol pm since that will treat the sore throat to some extent too?
  • @pocketrose most “PM” medications are benedryl and whatever else it is. 🙈 I’d alsoagree with the Tylenol stuff (make sure it’s early is diphenhydramine as the other ingredient) for the sore through aspect. May help 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • @b_1029 Is it fairly constant, or off and on? A tight uterus feeling that comes and goes could be Braxton Hicks. That's kind of how I'd describe it - a heavy, tight feeling.

    @busymom247 Good luck potty training!

    @stlbuckeye132 Eh, I think that end table looks less dangerous than our regular wooden coffee table, which my children have hurt themselves on plenty of times... DD2 had a bad habit of standing right at the corners for a long time. I was constantly moving her away from them and she'd get so mad.

    @pocketrose They're the same thing but Tylenol PM has Tylenol with it.

    FFFC? I wouldn't have even thought of calling the school just to say my kid had the flu. I'm not sure that I'd even take her into the doctor if we thought she had the flu, unless there were complications happening like trouble breathing or something. Or if the fever stayed around too long or wouldn't come down at all. Although, because of the Covid-19 stuff, I *would* take them in now for flu symptoms.

    I would tell the school about other contagious stuff, like Hand Foot & Mouth, or... IDK. Something else diagnosed by the doctor. But it never even crossed my mind that I'd be expected to notify them about the flu. It seems like one of those things that's kind of "expected" to be going around, and chances would be high that she picked it up at school anyways. Had never thought of it before this.

    Day 1 Pottytraining update:

    Not one time pee in potty yet. He literally wants to stand and climb on there 😑10+ pairs wet underwear. And one poop (he'll be three in April and this is our first attempt).

    I've never wished I'm could have glass of beer/wine so much 😅
  • @busymom247 just speaking from experience - don’t worry about the age...potty training is sooooo much easier when the kid is ready. I was feeling disappointed that all the kids my daughter’s age were using the potty. She was 2.5. It was a major power struggle and I eventually said no, we will try when she is ready. I gave it a break and then revisited a few months later and it was like a switch flipped.

    Even when they are ready, it’s still hard. Just be consistent. Don’t get upset when they have accidents, just praise them when they go potty ok the toilet. My daughter is almost 4 and still has the occasional accident. It’s normal. And also, be kind to yourself. Remember they’ve been in diapers their entire life so of course we can’t expect them to just make the connection to use the potty in a day or week. He will do it when he’s ready. I promise he won’t go to college in a diaper. Solidarity!

    @rachstar18

    I agree but when be starts 3 yr old preschool in fall he has to be potty trained. I expect regression after baby so trying now (DH insisted bc showing many signs). We will quit and pick up later of it doesn't work. Hoping this intro to it helps if that is the case. Also just day 1!

     No preschools here take kids not pottytrained (pretty sure universal) and place we selected said they will kick out if more than 2 accidents?! And every school fills up during priority registration.

    (He is in 2 yr old preschool now..all the two year old classes allow diapers)

    And yes we are doing lots of praising and staying calm. "Look you peed! Let's go sit on potty"
  • @blaf322 agreed with others that I’d go with another Britax...I’d do it for the weight alone, plus you know you like it!

    @treeofcheem it’s just sporadic tightening throughout the day, no pain or anything, just gets tight and a weird heavy feeling. I didn’t even think about Braxton Hicks, that’s probably what it is.
  • Pretty sure the last couple days I’ve felt an occasional “thud” of movement! Today I thought maybe I felt one when I was at work. Which would be the first time not feeling it when I’m just laying quietly in bed. Might take a hit longer to really distinguish. But it makes it all so much more real🙈
