  • @modoodles love it, and I can't wait to see the dog prints!
  • Any of y’all know of a good website to sell baby clothes? I just missed the big consignment sale locally, and there’s a few resale shops here but they only give you credit to the store.

I’ve sold a few things on my Facebook but I’m hoping to get rid of more.

  • @rachstar18 I’ve sold some of my own clothes on Poshmark and you get cash for that. Not sure what the market for baby clothes is like on there though!
  • @rachstar18 definitely try poshmark....DH and I need money and i'm selling tons of my clothes/unused makeup on there, and im always seeing baby/kids clothes!

@modoodles yay for your daughter! i did showchoir throughout high school and it was the best thing ever. the feeling after winning a competition was the best, so im glad she gets to feel that accomplishment!

    @stlbuckeye132 cute announcement!! how fun!

@nursejenn5 congrats on your new nephew! what a cutie!

@pocketrose id do the May dates, but thats because i am such a planner haha. and because it is exciting!

@bluguitarhannah blegh good luck with taxes! those are no fun. i got mine done as soon as we got DH's W2s cause I didn't want to have that looming over me haha. hopefully you wont have to pay too much!

@meanjellybean ugh i hate when people spray stuff to cover up a bad smell! my dad's office was across from the bathroom for his floor and he would always say that people spraying smelly stuff after they poop wasn't helpful, it just made it smell like someone shit in the woods instead of in the bathroom hahaha.  :D

  • @bluguitarhannah I guess one of the positives of having an accountant as my H. He has our taxes set up so we get a refund every year 😂. He’ll have to recalculate things for this year once baby comes though. GL with your taxes. Something I thankfully don’t personally endure. I just hand him the papers 😅
  • @kristinl492 @knockupthestock is selling stuff through posh mark easy? I have the same question as @rachstar18 especially now that I know I can purge a bunch of “girl” clothes. Some of them were gifted to us and never worn! I’d also love to sell some of my clothes that I don’t wear anymore but are on the nicer side and it feels weird to give them away, if that makes sense...
  • @meanjellybean I can't stand the smell of air freshener!! That sounds terrible.
  • @rachstar18 our town has a couple mom exchange Facebook pages. Have you searched for anything like that? I use ours all the time and just make sure I semi know the person through a friend at least and then I do porch pick up and they put the money under the mat. Never had an issue and so easy!

Why is it that DD2 decides to sleep in on the days we have to go some where... ugh every time 🤦🏻‍♀️ She has been so grumpy the past 2 days so I really don’t want to wake her! Maybe we just skip piano.

Yesterday we had our realtor come and look at our house. He gave us 2 bigger things to do (stain the deck and clean the carpets) but otherwise he said we are good to go and he’d even put it on the market before the deck is done. We found a house Sunday we love but there would be some life changes. Does anyone have a septic system and electric heating? I know electric heating can be really expensive. There is a pellet stove which helps and the heater is high efficiency but I am clueless when it comes to all this. Otherwise, it’s a complete redo and we’d be the first to live there so I kind of like that idea and it’s on some land so we will have to decide if we want to maintain that. We are going to see it again today and I’m excited but also trying not to get my hopes up!

  • @hdbird0723 I have lived in houses growing up with septic systems.  They take getting used to but are ok.  You can never lose consciousness of what's going in them and you switch to septic safe toilet paper.

We have electric heat in our current house.  It's less expensive than the AC in the summer but we live in Texas so it's not every cold here.  Good luck with the process!
  • @rachstar18 I did all my selling through local BST groups on FB. Like @hbird0723 suggested, I do porch pick up and typically try to get them to paypal me in advance of leaving everything out on the porch, if possible. All that said, unless it's high end brands, it's just not worth the effort, IMHO. If you're selling Carter's and ON-type brands, just list them in batches for a flat rate vs selling individual pieces.
  • I started listing things on Poshmark and already sold some shoes. Decided to bundle stuff on there @blaf322 like you mentioned. Hopefully i get better results that way.

  • @bluguitarhannah thanks for the info! Septic safe stuff... I just need to wrap my mind around it, it sounds like. I’m so used to a garbage disposal too and putting most things down it so that would definitely need some extra thinking on my part!
    image

  • @nursejenn5 that would annoy me to no end! "I wish I could help! I've got a full day planned" (read: I have no desire to go all the way over there.... I have plans to be lazy today) :D
  • @blaf322 $70 on bubble bath?!! Damn, I hope to be rich enough one day that that doesn’t seem absolutely absurd 😂
  • @blaf322 That's absurd.  All it does is make bubbles?  If it change a diaper and made bubbles more than once maybe I'd consider.
  • haha @b_1029 I will never be rich enough to not care about $70 bubble bath. That's just a waste, no matter how much money you have.
@bluguitarhannah right?! If it did something magical for my skin, maybe I could get on board. But that much for a kid's bath? Nope!
  • @blaf322 also wondering about really taking that long of a bath you need to "reagitate" your bubbles again..
  • @blaf322 wow that is insane. I'm not great with money/practicality but even I would never do that lol.

I'm in some B/S/T groups on FB and a "gifting" group that I've used a few times to give stuff away, but I refuse to do porch pick up. I don't want some internet stranger knowing where I live and that I have kids. I watch/read/listen to too much true crime to do that shit lol. I usually offer to drop off or meet up at a neutral location, their preference. I'm definitely going to look into poshmark though.
  • @nursejenn5 I looove bubble baths for myself and definitely had to do that with mine, pre-kids (I don't really take them anymore)... but we had a jacuzzi tub so I just turned on the jets for a minute and they were back in full force. We have NEVER needed to do that with DD. Baths are before bed so we're on a bit of a time crunch with her lol
  • @blaf322 I won't even spend $70 on a pair of jeans for myself lol. 4-7 baths worth  :D

@meanjellybean I don't sell tons of stuff but I've definitely gone to people's homes to pick stuff up, and a couple of times I've ended up in kinda sketchy places and as I'm leaving I'm like.. probably shouldn't have just done that by myself with my newborn lol.
  • @meanjellybean @mrsdrez @kristinl492 I will only meet people in public, well lit, usually only during the day, places to sell things. Unless H is with me. Also if I have people coming to my house I make sure H will be there, and usually make him go to the door and meet them AND only give them the address an hour prior to them needing to be there then delete it the minute they show up.. I'm a little extra nervous about that haha. Our police department always advertises their parking lot as a good place to meet sell/swap people as well haha.
  • @meanjellybean its pretty easy to sell on poshmark. it probably takes like 20 mins to post a listing - you take photos, describe it, list the size and color, etc., so it takes whatever time you need to do that. if its something that is in great condition and "in style" it sells pretty fast.... like i posted a dress that was only worn a couple times and a popular pattern and a day later it sold. however, i have some fall patterns that ive had listed for a while that havent sold because its spring now. people have the ability to offer you lower that what you request, so you haggle a bit. you dont have to pay shipping - that is part of the "fee" that poshmark takes from your sales (i think its just like 10% or something like that). so when something sells, they just send me a prepaid shipping label and i put that on one of those free USPS priority mail boxes and ship it.

  • @knockupthestock thanks! Good to know the process. I think I'll use it for some of my nicer and/or less run-of-the-mill stuff.
  • This is all reminding me that I’ve had a garbage bag full of clothes I was going to try and sell on Poshmark sitting in our room for a year 😬 I need to get on that.
  • @nursejenn5 I had similar rules, only during the day and husband had to be home. We moved the couches out to our garage and he went out front to meet them as soon as they pulled up. I never thought to not give address til right before, that’s a good idea. I wouldn’t have had them pick up at house, but we had no way of transporting 2 couches anywhere. I know so many people who do porch pick up all the time and I’m just too big of a chicken lol.
  • ThredUP takes stuff to resell too, but I haven’t done it yet. It’s more hands-off, you send in a bag of stuff and they list it. But I think if it doesn’t sell right away, they keep it, or you have the option for it to get sent back to you. No idea how well it works, but I’m gonna try it for some stuff I’d like to get rid of and would preferably make a bit of money from but don’t care much either way.

  • @treeofcheem I’ve sold on ThredUp. You won’t make much, but if you’re an avid ThredUP user, having an extra $10 or whatever can be fun to just apply to your next purchase. I use it more for stuff that still has useful life but it’s not really worth enough to take to a consignment store.
  • @stlbuckeye132 oh no! I'm so sorry! One of our daycare friends was diagnosed on Monday and was back at school today. They haven't caught it so hopefully you can avoid it too! Did the doc give you tamiflu even with the negative test? I've heard a lot of folks say that with that and the flu shot, the flu has been really mild this year. My friend's son has had colds that knocked him out more than the flu did.
  • @blaf322 he did say he could call it in for us if we wanted, but honestly from what he told us, it sounded like the side effects (and trying to make her even take it) would be worse than the benefits it might provide. MH and I looked into it more last night and I don't think we're going to give it to her. She actually didn't feel warm this morning when she woke up for a little bit, so I'm hoping her dr is wrong about it being the flu. haha I just don't know! He said we could come have her re-tested in a couple days if we want, but... I don't really see the point in that b/c it'd be too late to start tamiflu and it wouldn't change how we'll be treating her. I'm more concerned about MH getting it b/c he didn't listen to my constant nags for the months of October and November and never got his flu shot. (insert eyeroll here)
  • @stlbuckeye132 agreed... I wouldn't take her back either! FWIW, the year MH and I both got the flu, I got over it 1/2 a day before he did. I got the flu shot and he didn't. So, hopefully, if he catches it, it isn't too bad!

I'm really hoping DD doesn't catch it.... it's going around her class and, apparently, the parents of the kid that got it told our daycare mom group but didn't inform school... so they didn't ask the cleaning crew to do the deep clean for when they have viruses like that going around a class  My friend's kid was just sent home sick yesterday (same class) and I feel like she prob has it, based on what her mama was saying about how she's acting.

@stlbuckeye132 omg! I hope it's not the flu and the temp was just a fluke (no pun intended).

And ugh @blaf322 wtf to those parents who didn't tell the school... I hate when stuff is going around and you feel like it's only a matter of time. April can get here ASAP as far as I'm concerned.
  • @blaf322 omg why did they not call the school?? I hate that. My first call as soon as I got in the car was to her school to let them know (and she wasn't even "technically" diagnosed since the test was negative). Other parents should be aware of what's going on so they can keep an eye out for similar symptoms in their kids!
  • @stlbuckeye132 I assume she thought that she text all of us (most of us in the class are friends now) so we were aware.... but come on! Give the school a chance to help keep the spread to a minimum with some extra cleaning. I was super annoyed.... but would also never say anything lol
