Up at 4:30 a.m. and have a few unrelated random thoughts:
- Had the sweetest dreams about a baby girl...I'm Team Green but been slightly hoping for a girl lately
- Is it weird that I don't like cereal and milk but love eating Granola like cereal?
- I wish there was a product that would section off my DHs elbows/knees/stray limbs from drifting into my territory at night without causing issues for my marriage. Half kidding about this one because if I really wanted to I'd flip my snoogle so it was in between us instead of behind me.

@thepretzelchick don't feel guilty about your DH taking care of DS at all. Get the rest you need and hopefully you can all have an easy day of recovery and rest.

@chewie5990 I think the interview went really well. I told MH that if we don't get the job it's because he messed up his end and they know we're a package deal. We'll hear by the end of next week if we got the position. I'm hoping they'll be understanding it looks like the other math teacher is a younger female with a kid who looks like he's about 4.
@ruby696 I don't remember having to preregister or even register when I had DD, could this be because my MW/OB office is in the hospital? Or just I can't remember things from the morning of my scheduled c-sections?
Regarding hospital bag:
pack deodorant with you food staples. That's something I had to send MH out for. I rarely wear it normally, but boy did I stink during the PP time. It was awful. Sadly he went out and bought me something extremely fragrant and floral smelling so I refused to wear it.
If you're going for a scheduled c-section and they put all of your clothing you wore there in a bag to bring up to your room, don't let your husband take it home when he goes home to shower because your shoes are in there and you won't remember that until it's time to leave and you have to leave the hospital barefoot. Well in the hospital slipper socks that I wore for 3 days in there.
Extra long phone charging cable is a must.
I don't think I really used anything else that I had in my bag aside from leggings/dress that I wore home and 1 outfit that DD wore home. I think the whole first day I just laid naked in bed with a sheet over me and didn't even wear the hospital gown. People (hospital employees not family/friends they were not allowed the first day) kept coming in and out and I just didn't care anymore, my boobs were out the whole time and people can just deal. I think I surprised the food service staff though when they walked in and I was just like yeah bring it here, completely topless.
just checking in to say hi! Just got home from iceland last night for the wedding we went to. I'm so glad I went, felt like a trooper being 28 weeks pregnant. I enjoyed it, got scared from some of the traveling/driving in all of the snow/wind, and missed my kids like wild, but definitely worth it!!
On the topic of hospital bags - I did take my own pillow last time which was nice because it was much more comfy. However after using that pillow in labor where I was sweating, puking, holding a bloody poopy baby right by my face etc let's just say it did not smell so great. I really wanted that pillow because of how much softer it was but couldn't stand the smell so just FYI pack extra pillowcases!
@jhysmath Pre-registration isn't required st my hospital either, but then they're bugging you for your insurance information either during early labor or once you're PP. I'd rather not deal with it. But it totally makes sense if your OB is at your hospital that they would already have everything. Like, maybe Kaiser patients wouldn't have to because all their info is already in the system.
I'm annoyed because I didn't get a ballot in the mail (my husband did). Now I have to research when/where I can actually vote in person, if there even is an in person spot since it's only a primary. Grr.
@pirateduck I've only voted in NH and didn't realize you could vote, unless you are sending in an absentee ballot, without showing up to your polling place. Also to get an absentee ballot here you have to go to your town hall and get it they don't mail them to you. It's funny how different states can be.
@jhysmath yeah, here our elections are predominantly mail in, and they have ballot drop boxes in the town where you can drop off your completed ballot 24/7. I think it may be because of the rural nature of the area and they probably get better voter numbers this way. I'm not really sure. Prior to living in CO I always used to vote in person.
@pirateduck That sounds very convenient, but at the same time seems like there could be a lot of falsification in the results that way too. We're a very rural area here, the town next to us is the first in the nation for primary voting and they almost couldn't even hold an election this year because they didn't think they would have the required 5 registered voters to vote.
@jhysmath Yeah, I don't know. They mail official ballots to the permanent residence of registered voters. I guess there's no way to know who actually fills out the ballots, but photo ID is not required for in person voting, so there's no way to know people are the registered voter in person either. There are definitely flaws in the system.
Today I had my students tapping maple trees for a competition we're going to be a part of, in class they will be collecting data and analyzing it. I didn't realize how deep the snow was and my pregnant ass was going through the snow thigh deep every few steps. a couple students wanted to try helping me out but it was just not something I wanted help with because I felt like a whale trying to get up from the snow. I decided I will not be going out there again for the collection of the sap and making my students go out on their own I'll stand in the parking lot to monitor them.
I voted during early voting last week since I work at the courthouse where early voting is and my polling place is 30 minutes from work.
One thing I'll be packing for this fourth round of L&D that I haven't before is a portable charger! I always forget that its an inconvenient plug in spot.
@mamaj1220 Only if your state requires registration to a party. If your state is an open primary state, you can vote in either party's primary. For instance, Tennessee doesn't require me to be registered to vote with a particular party, so when I checked in with my ID, they simply asked which party's ballot I wanted.
@mamaj1220 it depends what state you live in. I am unaffiliated so in CO I can vote in either primary, but I cannot vote in both. This is actually a change in state legislation and at the last primary 4 years ago I was not allowed to vote because I was not registered to a specific party.
@thepretzelchick and @pirateduck ahhh yes we are a closed primary state which is why I was confused, I am a third party registered so I had no one to vote for today.
I need a hobby. Suggestions welcome! Day two of being on rest and I’m like WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? I’ve worked full time since I was 22 and I am the kind of person who enjoys being busy. Watching tv for the next 40 days sounds nice in theory but is going to drive me nuts. I can’t even go for a walk because my pelvic pain is so bad.
@mamaj1220 well I went to vote and had an unpleasant surprise. I thought I was registered as unaffiliated and was excited to be allowed to vote in a primary for the first time since the law changed here. I got there and explained I never got my ballot and learned that apparently I am registered as a “minor” party therefore I was not allowed to vote. It was disappointing. I did get instructions to a website where I could change my affiliation for future elections but was SOL for this one. I just think it’s dumb that you have to pick a party. We are all In the same country voting for the same positions to be filled and you should be able to vote for whoever you think will be best for the job at any given time. I’m trying to be responsible and actually vote for people I think will do well for our country but apparently it’s not that simple.
@jkr2019 I say any craft project you can find on Pinterest that you can make for baby/nursery would be a fun (and possibly challenging) way to spend some time. Something like crocheting a blanket will be quite time consuming.
In my state, democrats opened the primary to allow independents to vote in the democratic primary. Republicans are the only ones allowed to vote on the Republican primary. It's interesting to me how the rules are different on different states.
@jkr2019 crocheting is a fairly reasonable place to start and not a huge monetary investment. you could look to see if there are any rec department classes near you to get the basics. I like that you can just sit and do it. I would also say make some freezer meals, but it might be too much on your body if you're in that much pain unless you have some help grocery shopping. I know if I had a bunch of time off like that I would try to catch up on digital organization (photos, bills, important documents, etc), and try to sell a bunch of stuff on Marketplace or Poshmark that I never get around to.
@jkr2019 I am not crafty at all... I have pretty great pinterest fails, but I can crochet with basic patterns. I liked that it occupied my hands/mind enough to focus in college.
@jkr2019 you could do online survey's that's what I used to do when I was stuck with a bfing baby in the beginning to entertain me. You could watch youtube videos about tips and tricks of dealing with triplets. Pick up blogging about sitting around on bed rest. Tons of crafty things you can learn on youtube.
Is anyone else's app not working? Mine hasn't been working for about a week. When I click on the BMB, it just has a white screen and never loads. I've tried logging out, reinstalling the app, but nothing works. The weird part is that using the browser on my phone doesn't work either. I can only get on using the computer. I even e-mailed the bump and they told me to send screenshots, which I just did. Has this ever happened to anyone else??
Totally not pregnancy related, but I got to drive to from home to work today, door to door, without needing 4WD for the first time in months. I am beyond excited! I know spring is not here yet, but the weather/drive has been particularly bad this year and it's getting old.
@peachnectarine I’m having the same problems but they also extend to the desktop version. If I wait with the window open long enough, it eventually loads, but I’m talking 5-10 minutes to load each page every time I click a new thread or anything. I just uninstalled this morning and reinstalled with no luck initially. Now a few hours later, things are working okay but it seems very hit or miss. There’s about 1x per day when things will load normally and then when I come back even an hour later, we’re back to not working
