  • @dedioni Yay! I love weddings. I just watched The Office episode of when Pam & Jim got married. Do you have an idea of how you're going to tell everyone?
  • The first cases of coronavirus have popped up in Florida. Florida peeps - what are your thoughts? Are you doing anything special to prepare? I've read they don't know how it affects pregnant women, but I would assume it's somewhat dangerous since we are under stress physically.
  • @tdevlindrye I can tell you that in Italy a couple of very pregnant people have it but are asymptomatic. They are in the hospital however, to constantly check on the baby. Another one gave birth and the baby was fine and didn't have the virus. I think I saw a similar case in China. For some weird reason it seems to not affect pregnant people as much but they don't have enough data, so I'd definitely be cautious. I would say for now wash your hands a lot and limit huge public gatherings and keep checking the CDC website.
  • @tdevlindre I was pregnant with DD during the Zika scare. Honestly, it's not phasing me. Wash your hands, and stay home if you're sick. Don't travel to countries where a lot of people have it. Everyone I work with all think it's getting WAY blown out of proportion.
Also, remember states decide to do a state of emergency to get more funding and supplies to the state, doesn't really mean we need to do anything or act any differently.
  • @tdevlindrye
I found this video helpful to understand how the virus is contracted: https://www.facebook.com/cece.shatz/videos/10221612808452210/UzpfSTE1NTk3NTQ0NTg6MTAyMjEwMTg0NjA4MDIxMDE/

Hand washing and avoiding public spaces for now.  It is most impactful to people who already have compromised lungs.

  • I have had a rough 48 hours. I went to a small, intimate wedding on Saturday, and by that evening I was hugging the toilet. I'm not sure if it's something I ate or morning sickness, but I'm inclined to think it's the latter since it had been about 5 hours since I had eaten anything. I was miserable all night, and wound up with a migraine that lasted into the next day.

Then this morning, on my way to work, I was sideswiped by a Ford F150 that encroached into my lane. It was two lanes turning left, he was in the left-hand left turn lane and I was in the right-hand left turn lane. He swung wide and I laid on the horn (as did the other drivers). I was at a near dead stop when he hit me, and I even made eye contact with his passenger as he hit me. He almost drove off but I was waving at them to pull over, so they did. Turns out he has no drivers license, is here on an expired worker's Visa from Honduras, and has no insurance. He also was wearing earphones while he was driving (I have a witness). So yeah. I'm pissed. And am seriously considering getting an attorney since I'm pregnant, etc.

  • @babyodo I’m so sorry you’ve had a rough few days! Hope things get better today
  • I know some of us are having an ultrasound pretty soon, is it too early to get the US thread started? I will be 9 weeks tomorrow but won't get a US until Friday, can't wait to make sure everything looks good in there...

  • Today I am thinking my bra is so tight! I want to go braless but just can't because of work. Can't wait to get this thing off as soon as I get home!
  • @babyodo Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry that happened to you! I hope your week turns around.

I am wrestling with extreme hunger followed by extreme nausea after I eat, so that's been fun. I'm trying to navigate the relationship with my Intended Mother- she so kindly asks me how I'm feeling often and I feel bad telling her that I feel crappy, but I also don't want to lie. I can only imagine the types of feelings she is having through this process and I'm trying to be really mindful of that, but it's hard to know where the line is!

I think you're safe to start an US thread. That way they're all in one location instead of popping up in the Randoms or other threads.

  • This made me LOL, thought you all might get a kick out of it too :) https://www.instagram.com/tv/B9PhgONA410/?igshid=imwh087qig2i
  • @themoonandme My last pregnancy was a surrogacy. Do you know the IM or is it an agency match? I would say tell the truth but always frame it in a positive light. "I'm not feeling great right now, but I know that in a few weeks when the extra, synthetic hormones are no longer in my system, I'll start feeling better again." If it was a match, the relationship will evolve over time (or it won't), but getting over the awkwardness in the beginning can be tricky. At least the IM seems to care about you as well as the baby. My IM's concern for me didn't really go past how I was sleeping and eating.
  • @babyodo sounds good!
Also, is anyone else having issues with threads looking like they have been updated with replies but they have not? I am missing stuff because I see older things and scroll until the end but sometimes I don't see some replies. UGH.

Anyways @babyodo that sounds like a rough time indeed, and how scary about the accident! I was hit on the passenger side by an uninsured drunk driver 6 yers ago, on a Sunday morning at 11am! It was so scary. Is insurance/the cops being helpful in setting up next steps?

I was too *TW* during my chemical *end TW*
I keep thinking that there's always something going on when I am pregnant. I was supposed to go to a conference next week as one of the panelists but it has been postponed to when I will be 38.5 weeks pregnant...so it's pretty certain I won't be able to attend. So bummed!
  • Another random. Did any/are any STMs showing ridiculously early? I know it's mainly a blump but I showed early with my first and am barely fitting into things now. So ready for comfy maternity pants!
  • @babyodo how scary! I'm so glad you're ok!
  • @babyodo I’m so sorry you are having such a rough start to the week! I hope it gets better from here!

@morethanamama Yes, my threads are all doing weird things as well. Whenever I post it shows that as an unread post, which seems odd and unnecessary.

@dedioni No shame in the maternity pants. I’m definitely not showing at almost 6w, but I had started to notice that I was getting a little mild cramping only when wearing tighter pants. I bought a pair of maternity pants and I am already more comfortable!
  • @dedioni I despise wearing "real" pants these days, lol. I'm wearing leggings as much as possible. I don't know if my maternity jeans from last time will fit...I guess I could check! Trying to hold off on buying more.

  • @dedioni yessss. I’m 7+7 and officially in my maternity jeans since Thursday. I was at my mom’s this afternoon and she goes “oh, you’re so round already!” 🙄 Thanks. That definitely stung since I had just realized I might be closer to 7 weeks due to when I ovulated.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @deaddahliah I will be 7 weeks tomorrow and am most definitely rounder than normal. I am right there with you, girl!
  • I feel you guys on the pants. I swear I *just* started being able to wear more of my jeans like a month ago and now I’m back down to my two trusty pairs: one maternity and one with this amazing elastic waist band. Thankfully, a lot of my slacks have a tad more wiggle room and I’ve got a stock pile of skirts and leggings that I’ve worn through both pregnancies.
  • @babyodo how are you feeling now? What an awful accident.  I would definitely follow up with legal action.

I am definitely showing early.  I am not sure if this is an everywhere problem, but no physical stores in my area have maternity clothes.  They have all shifted to online. I am plus-sized and so I was hoping to try some things on to get an idea of what size I would need to feel comfortable.  I didn't want to have to ship things back if they don't work.  I ended up ordering Old Navy because at least I can return to the store if whatever I picked doesn't work.  I am not a huge leggings person and finding work clothes has been a nightmare.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @smg2302 I found ON very inconsistent in sizes. I’m currently a 16, but put in a pair of 12s I had (but never fit) from last pregnancy and they mostly fit perfectly. No wonder they never fit last time! They’re side panel, so they don’t stay on my butt. As soon as I move they fall down. 🤣
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @smg2302 I was able to find some maternity pants to try on at Target :)
  • @psmk521 I love maternity pants from Target! Currently wearing some myself!
  • @themoonandme Is it possible that a book that goes through what you may be experiencing will help her and take the pressure off of you to answer? It must be a strange position to be in for each of you, but I think it's wonderful that you're able to give them this gift.

  • I'm definitely showing sooner this time around. Yesterday I think I was a bit bloated/backed up and the bump seemed very pronounced for 8+6. I went home and told DH that if this kept up I don't know how much longer I'll be able to hide it at work. I'm loving my jersey dresses - the waistbands on my pants get unbuttoned as soon as I get privacy.
  • @aztecash it's an agency match, and luckily they're local to me so we have been able to spend a little bit of time together and they've been able to come to all of the exciting appointments so far! I'm sure it will be less awkward with time but I just feel so worried about her and how she must be feeling and I don't want to make her feel worse. I do feel fortunate that she cares!

@homeport17 I'm not sure if there is a book, but it's a good idea to look for one! I'll have to do some research.

  • I've been surprisingly comfortable (so far) in my regular jeans this time around, which is shocking since this is my 4th pregnancy. I'm 8+2 and thought for sure things would be feeling snug. I'm guessing I'll wake up one day and everything will suddenly be way too small!
  • Am I weird for constantly sniffing my husband’s beer because it smells so good? 😂😂

  • @profmcgonagall Nope! I did this my entire pregnancy with DD. I craved beer so much back then.

I thought I was fine and then I wrote jeans today and felt miserable by the end of our zoo trip. Probably going to stick to yoga pants and leggings for awhile.
  • @profmcgonagall I do this too! It smells SO good!
  • Thanks for the concern, everyone. I took yesterday off work because I had such bad insomnia from my anxiety on Monday night. I think it was because of just how pissed off I was at the whole situation. Like, I'm a good, law-abiding citizen. I pay my taxes, I keep up on my car's annual registration and insurance payments. I do the speed limit, I use my turn signal. And this careless f*ck comes out of nowhere and hits my car on my way to work. And I was in my military uniform, too! The whole time I was there with the cops, the other driver kept saying, "I don't know what happened. I was just driving along and then I heard 'crunch'." When I got a copy of the police report that afternoon, I found out that he's claiming that I was the one who came into his lane and hit him. How the heck did I end up being pushed onto the shoulder if I hit him? That makes no sense. So now my insurance company is conducting an investigation to see who was at fault before they set up repairs to my car. It's outrageous. I'm still mad.

Oh, and as far as clothes fitting tighter goes - I'm right there with y'all. I live in my yoga pants at home. I'm 7+3 today, and have a feeling I'll have to transition to either bigger pants, leggings, or maternity pants by the end of next week. I weighed myself and while I haven't gained any weight, my clothes are fitting more snug, so that's weird.

  • @profmcgonagall Ha I did this all during my first—and I don’t even like beer!!

@tdevlindrye I am not in Florida but I live in Washington in the same county where all the deaths have been, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little worried. We were planning to go tour the maternity center at the hospital where all the people have died, and we’re putting that off for now. I feel like I am doing pretty well avoiding the full-blown panic the media is encouraging, but I am definitely being more cautious about going out, touching things in public, etc.
  • @babyodo That sounds terrible and so stressful. I am really sorry that you have to deal with all that.
  • I've been MIA around here for a couple weeks, but I'm back now since Pete suspended his campaign  :'( So now I have way more free time to mess around on the internet. I should finally clean my house... eh. Later.

Let's see... had my first ultrasound on Monday - yup, there's a baby in there. Fresh new wave of "oh my god, a third kid is really coming". I was up 6 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight - what? I still fit into everything ok, which is better than the 2nd pregnancy, where I think I was already busting out the maternity pants by the 9th week.
