Re: February Appointments

  • @chewie5990 They always hand me the cup. But Kaiser definitely marches to the beat of its own drum...

  • @chewie5990 Mine hasn't done a urine test since the beginning. I asked if they needed one before my last appointment since I had to go and the nurse said only if there are concerns. So I am assuming if I am worried about discharge or yeast infection or something then they would take one.

  • @chewie5990 they check mine at every appointment. I'm high risk now due to age and multiples but I remember them doing it with my first pregnancies too (I think for protein primarily).
  • @chewie5990 I've had my urine tested maybe twice the whole pregnancy, so you are not alone!

  • @chewie5990 A lot of doctors and insurance companies phased them out because of the lab costs that come with it. My insurance doesn’t pay for them but my OB wants a sample each time, so I owe $116 every time they test. I decline them. There’s other signs for everything they check for during routine urine tests, so if you’re not exhibiting signs, it’s not a huge deal.
  • great to hear! With DS I had them at every appointment, and my prior OB for this pregnancy did them at every appointment. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone and it's not something I need to worry about!
  • With DD I never had a urine test during pregnancy and this one they only did it the first couple appts. My midwife with DD said they don’t serve that much of a purpose and she’d been one of the staff who had encountered that women’s health practice to drop them.

@pourmeanothermocktail - how are you doing?? That really sucks that you got hit with flu on top of everything else.
  • @chewie5990 I think I had one at my first appointment and that was it. In my portal the only thing they used it to test for was drugs

@drkoyya I like to put it in my head that baby will come at 42 weeks which wasn't good when I had to schedule my c-section for 39 weeks with DD because I felt so unprepared and like I shouldn't have a baby yet. But on the positive side I never got to the point where I was like I just want to be done with this pregnancy. I was still ready to go for another 3 weeks and didn't feel like it was taking a physical toll on me at all.
  • @lajoliedreamer Thanks for asking. It's been...miserable. I did get tamiflu which seems to have made it go faster, and by yesterday I felt mostly back to normal, but then overnight my sinuses filled back up and all day today sinus pain, headache, awful. I don't think it's a flu recurrence, I think it's just another virus attacking me.

But the flu really caused a ridiculous amount of pain on top of everything else, plus stole all my energy. I can't believe I'm now starting another virus. I'm so so so so done, this is illness 3 of back to back without a fully healthy day in between...

The only thing I can be happy about is my bladder can handle sneezing and coughing. So there's that.
