  • @modoodles I keep trying to convince the hubby we need someone to come and help deep clean!
    And yay for your daughter, that’s so exciting!
  • @modoodles aw proud mama! That's so great for your daughter. And YES I am 100 percent team "hire a cleaning person if it doesn't break the bank." So worth it. I'm nervous about moving to a bigger house because that will mean it will be more expensive, even though we only have it done once a month. Ditto @stlbuckeye132 on the concern about possibly having to cut that expense once there are two in daycare  :'(

    @kristinl492 my DD turns 2 this week and we haven't cut her hair yet either, but it's also verging on mullet territory. Not because it's curly, but because she twirls it as she falls asleep and it tends to turn into a knot and get yanked out, so her hair growth looks super uneven. She has been doing it on the sides for the past couple of months so now there one long piece in back that looks like a rat tail  :D I don't know what to do lol
  • @meanjellybean my DD had her first haircut in January because she too had a rat tail that was just getting to be too much! :lol: she surprisingly loved it and now frequently gives her stuffed animals haircuts. (just by brushing them... no scissors involved, thankfully!)

    @stlbuckeye132 well that's encouraging! Maybe I'll put it on the list for later this month. Did you take her to like a "kid" place or to your regular person? I got my hair cut recently and my stylist said I could just bring her in to see her.
  • @stlbuckeye132 those pics are so cute! and an accurate depiction of real life. DD has the same book.
    My DD also has a crazy toddler mullet going on as well, but I don't plan on cutting it soon.. sorry kid  :D

    @modoodles congrats to your daughter! She really is beautiful. I'm considering asking for someone to come do a deep clean as my birthday gift lol. I'm sure the pulled pork will be good hahaah.

  • @meanjellybean we took her to a kid place. I think she liked it better than she would have my normal salon because they gave her stuffed animals to hold (which obviously anything new and different worked better than any of her usual toys I could've given her) and they also had little TVs. She was hesitant until she saw a screen and then was like, "whoa, look at that!" and sat there perfectly content. (She doesn't get screen time regularly so that might've helped.)

    @modoodles that sounds like something I would do too haha
  • @nursejenn5 Congrats to your family!
  • @nursejenn5 aw yay! He's so cute!
  • @nursejenn5 He's darling
    @modoodles H and I like to make pork butt carnitas (slow cook for awhile then shred and broil/bake hot for a few minutes), highly recommend it if you're looking to shake up dinner!
  • Good idea @pocketrose

    Soooo cute @nursejenn5!!
  • @nursejenn5 yay for cousins!!! That's so exciting (and lucky about the name!)
  • @nursejenn5 congrats! That’ll be so fun to have cousins close in age!

    @meanjellybean I lol’ed at rat tail 😂
  • @stlbuckeye132 so cute!

    @modoodles I am hoping DH will be on hoard to hire someone to clean our house before showing it and maybe even the new one... when we find one! Someone coming to clean sounds glorious 😊

    @nursejenn5 congrats!!

    Today was full of phone calls to insurance and OB’s office and the genetics company but I’m hoping it will all be taken care of soon and it sounds like it will be way less so yay! Then DD1 decided to swing around this new rubber toy and it swung right into her eye cutting it. We just took them off eye insurance for the year because we never used it and they get their eyes checked at their year appointment. They did say to just give it 24 hours and I’ve cut my eye before so hopefully it all heals well and fast! I just don’t see her letting them look.

    @pocketrose the June date is the only one that would make me a tiny bit nervous. All the rest seem fine. You’d probably be fine in June, too, but babies can come early.

    ETA planning is a consideration too. It would be nice to have all the gifts received before June, I think, just so you have more time to fill in gaps that last 4-6 weeks. But if your heart is set on a pool party, I understand why June would be more attractive. Maybe you could focus the gifts at the shower to be more fun/nice-to-haves, and do all the must-have shopping before then.
  • @pocketrose I would do the June pool party! Babies don’t usually come a whole month ahead of time. And, it doesn’t take that long to order a couple things online if there’s anything you desperately need. You can even order them once the baby is already here! As long as you have a car seat and a place for the baby to sleep, you’re pretty much set!
  • @pocketrose, I'm due July 10 and am having mine May 3. I think any May date you listed works. My schedule is just crazy in May with Mother's Day, Memorial Day, college graduations, etc. so it was May 3 or June and June is just too close for a crazy planner like me.
  • @pocketrose I'd feel OK with the June date, but May 9 wouldn't be ridiculously early. With my first, I remember trying to figure out where to return quite a bit of stuff, which ate up the most time. That and getting out thank you cards.

    Ordering/buying the remaining items you need is usually pretty quick because you'll probably already have them picked out, aside from maybe clothes or small stuff, but you can have a list made ahead of time for anything you don’t want to actually register for.

  • @footdrbritt solidarity on the challenges of parenting a threenager. Also, definitely get someone to clean your house. It’s the best money we spend each month

    @modoodles your DD is beautiful!!

    @nursejenn5 aww... he’s precious! Yay for cousins close in age

    @hbird0723 cut her eyeball? 😬 Also, FWIW, I expect that would be covered by medical... especially if you take her to an ophthalmologist instead of an optometrist. DD has glasses and everything is billed on our health insurance bc they’re treating a medical condition (and ophthalmologists bill to health). I anticipate an eye injury would have the same classification... if needed.

    @pocketrose I think any of those dates are fine. I also agree with @Pascal86 about not expecting baby to come super early.
  • @blaf322 yeah it was scary to actually see a cut there. Thankfully this morning she woke up and said I can see!! No red no cuts 🙏🙏 that is good to know! I think they did say something about taking her to one if needed so I’m glad health insurance would have covered it. We don’t need anymore crazy bills 😳

    @pocketrose just chiming in too. I would choose a May date but that’s just me being excited lol and I feel like it’s nice to be able to wash and set things up with a little more time given! I had mine in March with DD1 mostly because I was still working and it was over spring break. She was born in May. It was nice having it a couple months before.

  • @hbird0723 I’m so glad it’s doing so much better today! Kids are so resilient.
  • Thanks for the shower advice all, I think I may lean towards one of the May dates/let my relative know. Hopefully my bump will be cute/rounder by then and it'll give enough time to wash things/prep/plan/etc after!
  • @modoodles that's awesome! I love those days! Way to get shit done! Now if only your motivation could rub off on me...
  • We finally got my wife's second W-2 from her previous district.  I'm closer to finishing our taxes and muttering a lot at Uncle Sam.  For two people in education and not at the top of the pay heap he wants a lot of our money.
  • @modoodles yay for good days! I love when things go like that. Hoping the rest of your week goes just as smoothly!
  • @modoodles aw, yay! I’m so glad you had a good day! FX the good vibes continue
  • @modoodles yay, love this update! I also want to know what your nursery compromise is!
