I’m so fucking pissed at myself right now because I didn’t move my daughter’s leftover grapes in time and my dachshund got into them and now it would appear that I’m going to spend my day dealing with that.
My DD just HAD to read the very hungry caterpillar this morning before leaving for daycare and then made me reread that Saturday page with all the different food like 3 times. Turns out, just thinking about that food made me a less than hungry caterpillar today.
@Kurtni and @babycakesday so sorry to hear about your experiences. And for everyone else changing practice, here's best wishes for a better care!
@fitzfizz I'm happy to look at the product spotlight schedule and create one based on the past BMBs unless you want to take the lead, just let me know!
I really dislike being sick and pregnant. Last pregnancy I never got sick. Last few days I’ve had a sore throat and kind of tired. Today I woke up feeling like I was ran over by a steam roller. I have a low fever, my body aches (even my fingers!), my throat aches, my head is pounding, and I’m coughing up junk. I’m so over it! This is my second illness and I’m only 6 weeks!
@babyodo, I called the vet immediately, who told me to call poison control, who told me to try to get her to vomit, which didn’t work, so finally to the vet and they got her to vomit them all up. So all we have to do is a blood test tomorrow to make sure no kidney changes. And apparently I have to make her a gourmet chicken and rice meal tonight.
@dolewhipper it's not like they can literally force an induction (or a C/S) unless they take it to court and have you deemed incompetent, but yeah, sounds like you need a new OB (and preferably a midwife). Kaiser (my insurance) doesn't do midwives, which pisses me off.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
@dolewhipper another vote to keep looking until you find a care provider that respects you! I hate when practitioners treat women like mindless animals that have to be told and bullied into doing what the doctor wants. It blows my mind how our medical system still has this puritan era mindset of how birth is going to go.There's no magic button to push to spontaneously go into labor at 40 weeks for crying out loud. 🙄
In other random news. I showed up for dental work today and told them I was pregnant thinking they'd offer me a safer anesthesia option, instead they informed me their office policy is to not use any anesthesia for pregnant women and asked me if I would be okay with that.. it's like none of them have ever had a procedure where their gums were pulled away from their tooth with a metal pick or something. Later they swabbed my mouth out with isopropyl alcohol and honestly I have no idea how that's safe. What a mess. Moral of the story, I guess call and ask what the office policy is before going in lol.
@morethanamama I can take the lead on it! I’m a bit of a spreadsheet junkie and I need a project for the night. I’ll post the spreadsheet in the board organization thread so anyone can post the weekly thread if I don’t have a chance to get to it.
Someone posted a thing on Facebook that says the "bump" on your foot between your heel and arch will tell which gender you're having. Of course it's totally bogus but I keep staring at my arches like a lunatic now trying to figure out which bump is bigger and whether it means a boy or a girl... Beginning to feel as though I've majorly lost it.
It’s my SIL wedding weekend and everyone is drinking so much wine and champagne. I’m totally fine not drinking but everyone keeps asking us why. It’s so awkward to lie and have them just stare at me. I wish I could have some wine to get through the family questions.
I just got the wind knocked out of my sails. My first blood draw came back good for hcg and good for progesterone. I was told on the phone that I wouldn’t need supplements. I had my second blood draw yesterday and was told I’d get the results on Monday. Well I get a text from my pharmacy saying my prescription is ready, so I call them, kind of already knowing what it is...the doctor prescribed progesterone after all. He may just be covering bases since I have a history of needing supplements, but now I’m wondering what my numbers are doing.
Im at work with a doctor in the practice and I half wanna ask her to tell me what my numbers are, but I’m sure it’s inappropriate and I’ll just have to wait.
@NME44 well I’m glad everything is fine. Maybe the progesterone is a precaution? I feel ya though. I started progesterone last night and it makes me feel absolutely awful.
TW (maybe): I loved my last OB but everyone else at the practice were fools. Last week my OB was out so I was seen my another doctor who gave me the information for a patient that was having a miscarriage. I cried alone because it was after hours. Later he came back and told me to ignore what he said, that the pregnancy was developing in the right place and I was fine.
My heart aches for the woman before me who was probably told she was fine but had her whole world collapse.
Because of that I'm changing practices. I think it is best when the whole team is on the same page and everyone is competent.

Wow that’s beyond terrible. I would make sure to let them know you’re switching practices and why.
@mdfarmchick, I met with him for the first time last month (we moved in June) and discussed what would happen if I got pregnant. I told him that I had been on progesterone for 3 pregnancies and he said he was not against using it (which was a concern because I know another doc in the practice is against it) and he knows I have a history of anxiety and loss so I think he is just being overly cautious, which is a perfect fit for me, honestly, lol.
@profmcgonagall yeah there are definitely some incredibly weird sex predictors out there. The swinging your ring on a thread one is probably the most asinine one I've heard of so far. I feel bad for ragging on the foot thing and then catching myself stating at my feet wondering who came up with this and how 😂😂😂
I can’t even understand how the foot one makes sense unless everybody has ONLY one sex of babies. Or are we assuming our bone structure changes with pregnancy?
I just saw that LILLEbaby baby carriers are on sale on Amazon today up to 50% off. I have the complete airflow and I like it for hiking in warm weather.
That sounds like a great deal! I would highly recommend the LILLEbaby carrier. I can't remember which one I have; it might be the all seasons one. I got so much more use out of it than I ever expected.
