I know this nothing new-- I've totally said this before here. But everyone in my office needs to stop eating smelly foods and wearing perfume. I don't remember ever feeling this gross before in my other pregnancies. I have never thrown up this much or just genuinely hated other people's habits this much. I wish I could just tell them what the hell is up, but I'm not sure if would make a difference. My RBF is becoming ultra-stink eye
@radiohd18 I'm about to ask my husband to stop giving me goodbye kisses and hugs before he leaves for work in the morning, the deodorant/body wash/cologne is too strong that early and while I typically love smelling him before work, right now I just want to vomit on him.
I'm pretty sensitive to perfumes/colognes anyway but it's SO BAD right now. I also feel like I can tell if anyone has eaten garlic at any point in their life.
@samsonator the insomnia is brutal! I started taking B6 and Unisom last week for nausea but probably had the worst night of sleep I have had yet this pregnancy last night, I have no idea why. I swear I got more sleep when DD was a newborn...
Related: has anyone else taking B6/Unisom found it helpful? The first day I took it I thought I felt better but I have felt so awful the past week, I'm not sure if it is helping or not.
@meagang123 I always take my prenatal with food (usually lunch) and that seems to keep me from getting nauseous. I've always found taking vitamins on an empty stomach makes me nauseous. I don't think it is any less effective later in the day.
@laur84ns I've been having similar symptoms also. I think it's just normal, lovely, pregnancy stuff (assuming you're staying hydrated). Also, I have been basically living off quinoa and smoothies so I am sure that's not helping...
@hypermusic yes I have been taking B6/unisom and if i skip a dose I notice immediately. It has really helped me, but I know it can be hit or miss dependent on the person! I know the name brand/combo pill is extended release and sometimes works better (diclegis I think?) but its expensive.
@WishesSheCouldCook I'd keep an eye on it. I had low blood pressure in my last pregancy, I can tell it's satrting in this one too. It can come on very quickly and get better just as quick. I found the best things were to drink lots of water and try not to get too hot (easier said than done with DS as it was a super hot summer in the UK and nowhere has aircon).
@hypermusic Ok, glad it’s not just me! Well not glad... but you know what I mean! At least I’m not alone. Wow, quinoa and smoothies sounds a lot healthier than my diet last week which consisted mainly of French fries, Breton crackers and cherries!!
Two days ago I felt cold symptoms coming on, well. Yesterday and especially today it has really made its presence known. My head feels like it’s going to explode, my eyes are puffy, my nose runny, yet congested, my throat is sore and when I cough my lungs hurt.
I’m 13w 4d. Any remedies would be greatly appreciated. Should this call for a trip to ER or a call to my doctor?
@andreaaaaaaaaaa I try to stretch before bed. I do a few yoga poses and deep stretches. It helps. Also, you can try to maybe have a Gatorade with dinner or something to see if the electrolytes will help. I never noticed a difference, but my sister swore by it.
It's reassuring to hear some others are dealing with insomnia (although I'm sorry you're suffering too). Most things online say it's common in the 3rd trimester, but there isn't much about the 1st. Hoping it eases up soon for us.

@charhar0820 I wouldn’t think an ER trip is warranted for a cold. You’re more likely to pick up something worse than a cold this time of year in the ER - like the flu! It sounds miserable but unfortunately there isn’t much you can do or take. Whenever I get a cold when I’m pregnant I try to get lots of rest, use my neti pot relentlessly and take baths with eucalyptus bubble bath. Sleeping slightly elevated with a few pillows might help you sleep when you’re super congested. You could call your dr to see if they have any medication recommendations (though any time I called with previous pregnancies I was just told there is nothing you can take - even when I was miserable with a nasty cold at 41 weeks pregnant last year). I hope you feel better soon!!!
@andreaaaaaaaaaa I think leg cramps are quite common during pregnancy - more water and some potassium (bananas!) are supposed to help. Good luck!
@roo_baby Definitely way too early to feel baby move over here! But I’m only 9w 3d. How far along are you? I think in general it’s near impossible to feel baby move in the first trimester given how small baby is, at least according to my dr, but I will say I have had some gas “pains” (not painful but rumbley) that have felt exactly like baby leg/arm movements!!! Of course they feel like baby movements from when baby is like 34-40 weeks, when they’re bigger and you can feel the outline of their arms and legs, if you know what I mean. I actually absentmindedly stroked my belly on the side yesterday and then realized haha that’s not a baby arm or leg moving around! This baby is the size of a gummy bear
@laur84ns I’m 12w3d so I think it’s possible, but not likely. I didn’t feel dd until I was much further along, but I also didn’t know what it would feel like to know for sure. This doesn’t feel like kicks, it feels like light flutters, which is what I remember or feeling like last time. But most likely it’s just gas.
@andreaaaaaaaaaa OMG, yes I had a terrible leg cramp last week and woke up at 3am freaking out thinking I had a blood clot. Then I couldn't sleep. I haven't experienced it again, but I have eaten some bananas so maybe as @laur84ns suggested is helping!! Good luck!
I'm still just so tired even though I'm getting close to 9 hours of sleep!

@ziggymama06 I will definitely pick up some bananas this weekend!
I am so so so exhausted too, I can barely stay awake past 8pm anymore. I'm moving next week and have barely started packing because I am just completely worthless after working all day. Everyone says energy level should pick up in the second trimester so fingers crossed!
@roo_baby You tend to feel second baby earlier than the first. That said, I'm super tiny, zero torso (4'11) I've felt baby move. Mostly because Lil Bean felt the need to bounce on my cervix. I felt both boys move early too. This is the earliest I've felt anything. The cervix feeling is unmistakable, though. It isnt consistent or all the time, and wont be until babe gets bigger.
Um, so, body hair???? Needing to tackle my underarms what feels like every friggin day and went to my monthly bikini wax today and it seriously looked like I had skipped a month.
No luscious locks on the head yet though, of course 🤷🏼♀️
So emotional yesterday... cried on my way to work listening to the new ad with the Weathertech dog who had cancer and beat it. Then watched Instant Family last night and cried like seven times. I'm usually emotional watching movies but this was over the top. At one point I was bawling and couldn't even talk. 🤦♀️

Ok has anyone had nausea and vomiting that suddenly overnight got much worse?! I had been doing ok and dealing with my all day nausea since 6 weeks (I’ll be 10 weeks tomorrow) but suddenly yesterday afternoon it got to the point where I felt SO SICK that I couldn’t get off the couch. Since then I’ve been incredibly sick, a constant pain in my stomach, a bit of vomiting, feeling very nauseous and unable to get off the couch or out of bed. I’ve managed a few saltine crackers and a bit of Gatorade but that’s it. It was bad overnight and unfortunately it’s still really bad this morning. I’m a bit surprised and taken aback but the sudden shift to being unable to function! I’m wondering if this is normal / maybe my nausea peaking or if it could be something else like a stomach bug or the flu?
Last weekend I had a stomache bug on Saturday afternoon. I felt awful on Sunday and Monday even though I was keeping food down. It was just constant nausea and feeling like I needed to throw up. Tuesday was pretty normal and then all of a sudden on Wednesday and every day since I have had minimal nausea and no vomiting! I just turned 10 weeks this past Thursday. Maybe it gets really bad before it gets better? Any fever? I think if you can't stomache food or stay hydrated, then it may be worse than normal pregnancy symptoms and you should call your doctor. But if you feel super nauseaus but are still able to eat something and drink some water, you might be able to wait it out and see if it gets better. Just be very careful about staying hydrated.
@riatortillaxo Thanks for the response! I remembered you had a bug and am wondering if that’s what’s going on for me. I feel like I need to either throw up or have diarrhea but... nothing. I’ve puked up some Gatorade but in general nothing is moving in either direction. I’m so miserable! I’ve been able to keep down a few crackers and Gatorade but that’s it. I think because I’m managing some fluids I will wait it out for another day or so. I can always call my dr tomorrow when the office opens if I need to I guess! I hope this goes away pronto!
@laur84ns I agree with @riatortillaxo, monitor for feelings of fever, chills, and diarrhea would be signs of a true stomach bug. Regardless of any of that, though, if you're feeling SO bad you cant keep a meaningful amount of liquids down to stay hydrated over a day, then it would be time to go seek medical attention at least for IV hydration.
@jojokoodles Hmm no sign of fever, chills or diarrhea ( though my stomach feels upset enough that I feel like I need to but can’t). Maybe it is just horrible morning sickness?! Ugh. I can’t handle this much longer, I am completely useless and have two young kids (3, and 10 months old). I’ve already warned my husband he will likely have to stay home from work tomorrow cuz I can’t even function but if this goes on much longer I honestly don’t know what I’ll do?! I have managed 3/4 of a Gatorade (normal small bottle) and about a 1/2 glass of water in the last 24 hrs. As I’m typing that out it really doesn’t sound like enough, especially since I’m still nursing my baby, but I am still peeing every 4-5 hrs and my pee isn't super dark so I haven’t been concerned.... man, this sucks! Can you believe I had NO morning sickness with my older daughter and just a tiny bit of mild nausea for a few weeks with my youngest?! Ugh. This must be a boy
@laur84ns It could be a bit of both, meaning you've got some kind of bug and that's made your morning sickness a whole lot worse. I've had moderate morning sickness in both pregnancies but if I got ill it made it so much worse. My morning sickness has started to die down now (I'm 12w) but the other day I just had a headach and I felt so sick all day.
This weekend I had my first ever vomiting of absolutely nothing. I couldn't stop and nothing came up except what looked like saliva. My guess is I had waited too long to eat breakfast and my stomach was all pissed at me about it. Aside from that, I broke a bunch of blood vessels in my face because of the extremeness of the action. The blood vessel thing has happened to me before but not after throwing up nothing. Now, I look like I have a million freckles/tiny bruises around my eyes. Awesome.
@cornichonmam I think you might be right. My 6 yo niece had some weird stomach thing on Friday so she left school early and complained of a stomach ache and lack of appetite. I’m feeling better today so I think o it must’ve been that minor bug compounding my “regular” all day nausea. @riatortillaxo Thanks for checking in! I am feeling quite a bit better today! Still cautious about what I eat but I am able to drink water freely again and can function while sitting / standing up. Because my stomach still hurt this morning my DH took the day off work to help with the kiddos so I wasn’t totally on my own. It was very helpful. I’m hopeful that tomorrow I’ll be back to my normal old 24-hr mild nauseous self
I also broke down and started taking B6 yesterday morning so maybe that’s helping?!
Hey all just checking in after recovering from the flu. It took me a solid 7 days to get out of bed and 2 complete weeks to start feeling like myself again. I good news is that I feel 100x better now that I am in week 10, I have energy and an appetite again! I lost 8 lbs during the flu. Went in for my OB follow up yesterday and ultrasound showed healthy heartbeat and baby moving around arms and legs! My husband is so happy that I'm more myself.... He said it was getting really tough since I was just sick, tired, and crabby for the last month straight!
