Anyone else from Portland, OR?
Due Date: Sept 4th.
Found Out: we were trying so I started taking tests about 9 DPO (ok, probably 5 DPO if I am being honest, ha). Had quite a few negatives because I was testing so early. Then one day, after getting another negative that morning, I was sitting at my desk and all of a sudden my boobs felt super tingly and like a big rush of blood was entering. So I took a test and it was a squinter but I knew.
Other Kids: yes, a wonderful seven year old son. I am a little stressed about the age difference so I will be seeking/reading any similar scenarios. We also have a huge dog amd I am already stressed about his frequent barks waking sleeping newborn....
Job: I own a nonprofit consulting firm.
Likes: watching TV (esp Bravo; currently watching The Crown), reading magazines (esp food magazines), building elaborate Lego buildings, cooking.
Spouse: yes, he is an attorney and we have been together 17 or 18 years, married for 10.
First appt: because of some complicated medical issues I am dealing with I already saw a perinatologist at six weeks, akd we saw a heartbeat. Which was reassuring and great, esp in light of other medical stuff. Next up we see a genetic counselor and then have a "normal" first appointment on Feb 3rd w my regular ol' OBGYN. I will see the perinatologist a few more times too.
Symptoms: boobs sore and heavy and huge, nausea almost constantly, strong sense of smell, weird food cravings and aversions (my favorites all seem so gross now like coffee and salads).
I am happy to be here and co congratulations to all of you!
Sept 2020 moms are the BEST
We also have a loud dog and honestly I have the world's loudest husband (plus at the time my stepdaughter was a senior in high school so I had teenagers around quite a bit) and I was really worried about having a sleeping newborn in the mix but I think he was so used to the dog and the husband and the bustle of our house (I gave up on trying to shush everyone pretty quickly) that he slept straight through. Now once he is out he is out. You can play music full tilt or watch telly and this kid can sleep through it all. It is one of the few things I will concede that my husband was right about.
And thank you for the noise reassurance!
How’d you find out? Hubby and I had been trying with no luck for 8 months, I have very erratic cycles and we cant figure out why. It wasn't surprising to have spotting and then no period, but that was how it happened last time. I had all the stuff lying around so I just figured why not take another HPT, and bam BFP shocked and elated!
Other children/pets? 1 DD almost 6yr old, not the age gap we wanted but blessed to get another at all. 3 cats, sibling throw always I found by the road and a kitten for my daughter.
Job? Radiologic Technologist, for almost 10 years now. I take all precautions and have no safety concerns for my current job.
Things you like to do? Read, sleep, play games with my kiddo
Spouse/partner? Hubby and i have been married for 7 years, know each other since 7th grade
First appointment? First official appointment is 2/14 but I am lucky enough to work with doctors willing to US so I've one unofficial US
Any symptoms? Sore boobs, so much worse than 1st pregnancy. Nauseous at different points of the day, starving and disgusted by food like a revolving door.
Hi everyone, glad to have found this group! Assuming everything goes well, I will be a first time mom!
Due date?
September 5th, based on LMP.
How did you find out?
Took a test (and one to confirm) when I was about five days late. Both BFPs! Came out and gave my husband two thumbs up which he took to mean “all clear, not pregnant.” 😂
Job?
Currently unemployed and looking for a job, so that’s a bit stressful! Have worked in public radio for the past five years but quit my most recent position in September to move closer to family.
Hobbies?
Reading, writing, walking, talking.
Other children/pregnancies?
Nope!
Pets?
Nope again.
Spouse?
Married, coming up on our first wedding anniversary in Feb. My husband is a UK citizen so we’re also going through the immigration process. Lots happening, but we have faith all will work out.
First Appointment?
Scheduled for 2/11, my lucky date!
Symptoms?
Mild nausea, sore boobs and slight cramping. Fatigue for sure. Got scared by some light pink spotting the last couple days (around 8 weeks) but seems OK and trying not to worry. Looking forward to my first appointment!
Just a heads up I probably will not be posting much do to the trauma of our last pregnancy (TFMR) and now this one being high risk due to an SCH. I'm around 6+3
Due date? 9/18, my LC birthday, which is insane. He was 5 days late so his due date was actually 9/13.
How’d you find out? DH demanded I take a test because I was having emotional breakdowns all week. My LC is 2 and I've ovulated maybe 5 times since I got pregnant with him. I didn't think pregnancy would be possible without ovulation induction meds, so this kind of surprised us (though I know how babies are made)
Other children 1 son, he's two.
Things you like to do? Read, exercise, cook, hang out with friends and family.
Spouse/partner? Husband, married 4 years.
First appointment? Had an ER visit last Thursday and a follow up OB appointment today thanks to massive bleeding from an SCH. So far we have seen baby's heartbeat twice and things look good. But I'm on pelvic rest and generally told to take it easy.
Any symptoms? My morning sickness has already started, but mostly at night. I'm going to bed early and sleeping as much as I can.

Also, if you need some pointers or support, hubby and I also live far from family. It's more difficult, especially when LO is being a pain and you just. Want. Five. Minutes. But it's not impossible. Just means you have to rely on each other and your local support group more

I am 100% not a doctor or a person with really any more knowledge than the google can give me but I did have a fairly large SCH and it really didn't bother anything apart from scaring me a few times. I'm not sure if something like location could make it more of a scary thing?

@chasingroygbiv One of my doctors said that if I had it with one pregnancy I would likely have it with others. I was hoping that wasn't true but that sounds pretty conclusive.
