@bluetickgal so sorry about the BFN. Rooting so hard for you that this next cycle will be the lucky one!! I love all the Marvel movies (just saw the preview for Black Widow at the theatre last night, eee!) but other than seeing Black Panther and Captain Marvel in theatres we were 'stalled' because we had missed a few key films in sequence. I'm disappointed we didn't get to see some of them in theatres but glad we didn't skip ahead.
@ramzlau speaking of movies, we saw Bombshell last night and it was fantastic. We loved it. I thought it was very well done, classy, not too crude, very matter-of-fact. I can see why Republicans wouldn't go near it but as a woman I thought it was tasteful and

@emeraldduchess oh goodness friend, I am so sorry to read your update. I hope you and YH are able to have a good talk about how you want to move forward. If your heart is telling you maybe your body needs a break maybe that's a sign. It doesn't mean you're giving up. Self care is important too, so you can feel more confident in your strength to keep pushing forward.

Don't believe for one second that it makes you weak or lessens your desire for your THB because you need an unmedicated cycle to re-group.

@tryingktogku Those long an-o cycles are so frustrating. Sorry YH's travel plans are going to interfere with TTC but it sounds like you've got a good plan in place to focus on you in the meantime! I love that! And congrats on the job!
@inthewoods23 when are you expecting your results back?

AFM, we had our follow up for the upcoming FET. It looks like we'll be postponing Portugal until April. Due to scheduling with my clinic, the FET won't happen until mid March. For the next (Feb) cycle I'll just be doing the mock transfer, which I'm told we would be doing before every FET because my RE has done a bunch of research on endometrial biopsy uterine scratching which isn't actually a biopsy at all. There are apparently some theories where they think that by 'scratching' your lining the month before a FET it encourages turnover in the cells and cytokines are released to help 'heal the injury' so to speak, and can supposedly help prepare the lining to better accept an embryo for implantation. It costs an extra couple hundred bucks and they said I can choose to opt out of it if I want but they believe in it so what the heck, hopefully it helps.

@kiki047 well I was expecting them Monday! When I called the nurse line Tuesday she thought they would be in the next day and now we're at Friday. GRUMBLE GRUMBLE. Still no call so far today. I'll call them around 2 just to ask what's up and get next steps. I have my BCP to take but I have no idea for how many days so I want to get some clarification on that. At this rate I might get the ERA results before the Receptiva results! If my Receptiva result is negative we can move forward with the FET. Sounds like we could be together in a BMB 😃

Thank you everyone for your support! Everything went smoothly, it was super uncomfortable and when they started I i got sweaty felt like i was going to vomit, but then the pain went away and it was okay. It was really cool to watch it all on the screen. And food news, CLEAR TUBES! 🙌🏽 Thank Christ. One more thing out of the way!!

BOTH the Receptiva and ERA testing came back NORMAL. Timing was right and there's no inflammation. WTF DOES THIS MEAN!?

Ugh, the RE will call me in the morning to discuss. We did everything right and we got nothing out of it 😭 I'm going to go sulk tonight, feel my feelings, and just keep on chugging along tomorrow.

@kpearse99 oh I've definitely had the thought. I'm usually too preoccupied trying not to pee on them tho.
@inthewoods23 Aw man, I'm happy that they came back normal but I'm sorry that it didn't provide the answers you were looking for. I so wish that there were some guarantees with IVF and that we could have some reassurance that when everything appears normal that it should just work, but the shitty reality is that there's just so many unknowns. This is my biggest fear with the FET. Everyone keeps telling me that this is it, embryos are normal, so now we "have" 3 babies. We all know that's not true. From everything I've read, implantation is one of life's biggest mysteries, especially in humans because they can't just take a uterus out of a woman and test it the way they can with mice. They even prohibit that kind of testing on primates, our closest relative. Sending you hugs tonight, I hope your discussion with your RE tomorrow goes well. Will be thinking about you!!

@kiki047 so glad your appt went well and you have your plan for the mock transfer and then the FET in March! That’ll be here before you know it!! That’s interesting that the “scratching” could help with implantation...I’m with you, if it could possibly help then why not!

My RE approved one more medicated cycle before our follow-up on the 30th. I think they're annoyed that we haven't had an appointment with her since August. So now I'm paranoid that she's going to reprimand us for waiting so long. 😳

Anyway, it's CD2, I have my baseline on Monday, then if all is well I can start letrozole again. I don't know how optimistic I am about this cycle, but I know if we didn't do everything we could, I'd regret it. I asked DH to watch some videos explaining IVF before our next appointment. I want him to get a really good idea of what is involved. I have a feeling our RE is going to reccomend one more IUI then IVF. Our insurance will only cover 2 IUIs, anyway. We could potentially have IVF covered almost 100% (with a few copays) but we're probably going to have to jump through hoops to get approval.

Well ladies, my only option is to go dairy and gluten free for 3 months. 2.5 months out is the currently penciled in transfer and my RE is okay with keeping that. I think we're going to move forward with the scheduled transfer and hope it works.

The RE did tell me that success after going dairy and gluten free has worked every time.

@inthewoods23 did the RE explain why going gluten and dairy free could help? I've read both positive and negative things about dairy and ttc. Like low-fat dairy is bad for ttc, but full-fat dairy helps, etc. Never heard or read anything about gluten. I don't know how accurate any of that stuff I read is, anyway.

Both my RE & RI recommend going gluten-free & low carb. They say for some patients it’s also recommended to go dairy-free. In my online groups for reproductive immunology, almost all the ladies are on a gluten-free, dairy-free, low-carb diet.

All of these foods can cause inflammation in the body—even at a micro level— so removing them should help the body be more receptive.

Thanks, @keikilove. I did ask my RE before about diet changes but she said since I have a healthy BMI and no GI issues she didn't think diet was a factor. I am going to ask again, though.

@bows22 DH and I aren't 100% sure that we will go in that direction. There's so much to think about and wrap our heads around. DH has been very clear since the beginning that while he wants us to have children, he will not push me to take meds or undergo procedures that I am not comfortable with. We also know that we are incredibly fortunate to have the coverage that we do (our state has laws requiring IF coverage) and live in an area where we have access to excellent clinics and hospitals. If we didn't have the coverage, it wouldn't be an option at all.
ETA: I am pretty sure my doc will strongly recommend IVF with the genetic testing because of our ages and *TW* history of early loss.

@emeraldduchess my RE said the same thing at our first consultation. Health BMI, not too much caffeine intake so we were fine.

@keikilove send me all your tips! This is going to be really hard because I don't currently cook dinner every night and I 99% of the time go out to eat for lunch during the work week.

The one good thing out of all of this is, maybe this means we can conceive naturally in the future

I was active back in 2011/2012 but haven’t posted since then. We’ve been working with an RE since October 2019 so I’m jumping back in.

*****TW*****Menopur + IUI worked in 2012 for our twins after an early miscarriage. We have been TTC again for the past 5 years. One miscarriage on a natural cycle in 2016.*****end TW*****

Diagnosis (if you've been): endometriosis (stage 1 excised August 2019), annovulation

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): 11 DPO

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): femara days 3-7 Gonal-F days 8 and 9, trigger shot, IUI

How are things going?: Lots of cramping, my booster HCG shot is almost out of my system. I see my old RE next Friday for a second opinion. 99.9% sure we will try one more IUI cycle then move on to IVF, so I’m excited but also nervous.

Any questions?: Not right now.

Re diet discussion

I went back on the SCD diet 4 months out from FET - which basically eliminates gluten and dairy, plus is low carb, especially in the early stages. I was still only on stage 3 when we did the transfer and I moved VERY slowly thereafter.
I do have known autoimmune issues, adenomyosis (the sister of endo) and gluten, sorbitol and lactose intolerance. I had done the diet 5/6 years previously but had slipped into bad habits in the intervening years. First stage is tough but manageable if you meal prep once a week. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Note we did also do 3 months of lupron, Intralipids, prednisolone and blood thinners among other things so I cannot purely attribute the result to the diet alone.

@emmasemm thanks for the insight! I don't have any autoimmune issues that I know of, but I know some people just don't have symptoms.

I got reminded that through DH's work (and wellness thing), there are some clinic locations we can go to for a dietitian free of charge! I scheduled an appointment on Monday to help get me started ASAP on going gluten and diary free.
