    @WishesSheCouldCook we might do the genetic testing and find out sex. I think it will depend on how the ultrasound goes at our 12 week appointment. Either way we'll be finding out ASAP. Parents who have the ability to wait amaze me!  My practice was still trying to decide which testing company to use at my last visit do that will be a factor as well. Also, I'm not sure my insurance covers it since I'm not high risk.

    @WishesSheCouldCook for us it’s also
    about not get info a bunch of gender specific stuff from relatives who mean well. I’m just not super girly and tbh kind of hate football etc. I just want the baby to be a baby without pressure from folks to be interested in certain things. We’ve considered finding out for ourselves and not telling family.

    On the topic of anxiety, I hear you on refocusing. That has definitely been my main tactic. I’m not very religious but more spiritual. I’ve been finding meditation helps me to manage as well. Can’t wait for week 12 appointment!
  • @WishesSheCouldCook We will likely do the NIPT again (if I can ever get an appointment....). We are doing it because I have a genetic condition. If anything is flagged then we will have to decide about more invasive screening.

    I think it would be amazing to wait until birth to find out the gender but my overwhelming need to plan means will find out asap! :)

  • Hello!  I’m a late arrival, due 8/13, first time mom, been married two months!

    Excited/nervous/unprepared and finally NOT nauseous but can’t eat vegetables for the life of me!! Just wanted to say hi to all!  Excited for our first ultrasound on 2/3.
  • @WishesSheCouldCook I don't think we'll be doing the genetic testing unless the nuchal translucency test comes back as high risk. My sisters in law both had it done as they were older when they had their babies. My brother has CF so me and my husband were tested prior to having my son. As for finding out the sex we're team green at the moment for similar reasons to @newmama46.
