Baby is the size of a(n): Sweet pea
Upcoming appointments: January 29th is my first
How are you feeling? Ok. Still crampy. Nauseous comes and goes but has been better today.
Raves/Rants:
I'm very bloated so I look pregnant at certain points during the day which isn't great for hiding it. I went back to work Monday which isn't fun 😅 I don't know what I'll do for work next school year. My husband doesn't want me to quit but 2 in daycare/preschool would suck so much of my paycheck. Has anyone started to think about what they're doing for daycare? You need to get on lists where I live.
Questions:
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going?
Just responding with empathy and being more gentle. So far limited progress 🤣
DD born June 2016
Second due August 2020 (team green!)
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team finding out, but maybe not sharing
Baby is the size of a(n): Raspberry? Maybe they said gummy bear.. SMALL lol.
Upcoming appointments: None on the books yet.. still waiting for insurance paperwork.
How are you feeling?: AWFUL! I have managed to start slowly slipping back into my workout routine, but this baby only wants me to eat salty buttery carbs. I haven't ate this poorly in over a year. I'm terrified of gaining too much weight which makes me feel worse. I keep reminding myself that the first trimester is not the time to stress over my diet. Eat what sticks, the nausea will go away and then I will be able to start filling my body with all the good stuff.
Raves/Rants: My husband has been a doll so far about buying whatever food sounds good to me and whatever I can keep down. I've been really thankful for it. He stops on his way home from work if needed to pick up bread or crackers or gingerale, anything I need.
Questions: Someone told me that morning sickness with the first means morning sickness with the second will be worse.. is this real? This sounds like a circle of heck I'm not meant for if it's true.
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? : My big resolution for this year was going to be focusing on getting strong and to start weight lifting. I lost 70 pounds last year by making major life-style changes, eating cleaner and healthier, working out and doing yoga. My new lifestyle has been amazing for both my physical and mental health and I was excited to work towards getting strong since it was something I once thought I'd never do. I've tabled the resolution until after birth and recovery. From what I understand doctors don't typically like you to start new workout routines while pregnant.
@RedBaramid I hope that your question about the morning sickness being worse with the second is not true! That would be terrible news.
I know how hard it is to let yourself eat what you need right now when what you need is not healthy. It sounds like you worked so hard to make great life changes! You will get back on track when you feel better. I'm just impressed that you are still finding the time, energy, and motivation to keep working out when you aren't feeling well. You can probably find some pregnancy safe strength workouts if you do some digging! I follow baby_fitgym on Instagram and she has some great workout routines that are pregnancy safe and more for when you are in recovery.

How are you feeling?
Super nauseaus. Morning sickness has been rough. Tired!
Raves/Rants:
Rant: It has been tough getting up and going to work this week. I had time off for the holidays so the return was brutal. It takes a lot of energy to get myself ready while also getting my little one up and ready to get out the door. And then to teach kids! I keep a bag of Cheerios and something fizzy with me at all times.
Rave: My husband has really stepped it up this week. He has been helping with dishes and getting up to get me something to eat when I'm feeling sick in the morning.
Questions: Not now
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going?
My resolutions were to pay down some loans and have a healthy pregnancy. Too soon to tell if I made much progress on those yet!
@riatortillaxo Yay for appointment coming up SOON! It's funny that it's all of a sudden less than a week away, after seeming so far off.
@RedBaramid Props to you on such a big 2019, in terms of lifestyle change! Yes, continue to give yourself grace during this pregnancy, and especially this trimester. The definition of what is "healthy" and "good for you" has shifted for a bit, and that's OK.
@samsonator Daycare waiting lists are stupid around here, too. I'm holding off for my first appointment but if all is OK, will get the new babe on the waiting list for DS' daycare asap. We have a similar situation, where the cost of two in daycare plus other miscellaneous expenses of being a home with 2 working parents will just about eat a paycheck. But a career is long, and neither of us are on career paths that we can easily step away from and return. So we'll tough it out for a few years and let some of the financial goals go until K.

Upcoming appointments: Next Monday, 1/13
How are you feeling? OK. Some nausea has crept in, and I was super tired over the weekend, though energy level seems to be a little better now. No other symptoms to report, just a general off-ness.
Raves/Rants: DS is sick and it's sooo stressful juggling daycare coverage with DH. It's times like this I really wish we had family nearby. My boss is great about so many things, but she has a nanny and has never lived this particular hell.
Questions: N/A
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? Soooo many. Some are going well, some not so much. A small but really challenging one is to pursue inbox zero for my work email. I'm terrible about filing and deleting emails but trying to make a change.
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: green (h wants to find out so will see)
Baby is the size of a(n): prune
Upcoming appointments: in 2 weeks. NIPT, genetic counselor, and nt scan
How are you feeling? Mediocre. Exhausted. Indigestion sucks
Raves/Rants: my FIL died last week and h was able to go (out of the country) but it was too expensive for my daughter and I. He comes home tomorrow and I’m so excited. I miss him but I also would really love some help back with her. 11 days solo with a toddler is rough when it’s all almost home not in routine (winter break)
Questions: n/a
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? I don’t do them really
@RedBaramid Congratulations on the weight loss! I did that back in 2013/2014... And then our struggle with infertility brought me right back where I was again, 😔 and then some. 😣 But now there's a baby? Lol #worthit. I am on a mission to gain less this pregnancy than last, so there's less ground to make up after the baby is born. 😉

Baby is the size of a(n): blueberry, almost raspberry
Upcoming appointments: Today! Last scan at the RE... 😭😭😭
How are you feeling? Mostly not too bad. Some waves of nausea or lightheadedness almost? From time to time but it passes. Tired and bloated for sure!
Raves/Rants: last super-early morning appointment!!!! 🎉 I have been doing this since September... 😜
Questions: Anyone else hoping for a VBAC?
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? So far my goal of less screen time hasn't changed much, but I'm more aware anyway. :/

Baby is the size of a(n): Tator tot
Upcoming appointments: I'll go in for my NIPT test on January 16, but I won't meet with my NP.
How are you feeling? Still have a lingering head cold, and the nausea has picked back up a bit, but other than that pretty good!
Raves/Rants: Rant: See above... the daycare search! Rave: Now that I've had two good ultrasounds I've slowly started telling a few more people. I'm not married and the baby was a surprise so it's meant so much to tell folks and be met with excitement, support, and confidence about my ability to navigate the road ahead.
Questions: nope
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going?
I normally love resolutions, but didn't really do any this year. I have started making a sort-of bucket list of things I want to do, places I want to go, and things I want to work on (mostly adaptability haha) before the baby comes.

GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? I dont do them anymore because I got tired of disappointing myself when I never followed through
@BusinessWife If, by some crazy miracle, I dont have a preemie this go round, I want to see about a VBA2C. It will just depend since it hasn't technically been 18mo since my last birth and I know that is the magic number that most OBs want for that. I will mention it to my dr tomorrow to see where we stand

How are you feeling? The MS has subsided so I am thankful for that!
Raves/Rants: Rave: We received our first baby gift from a really sweet man my husband works with. It was so thoughtful and a realization we will have a little baby in our house soon! Rant: It took me an hour to get to work today (usually 20 minutes). Not a pleasant way to start my day.
Questions:
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? Nothing that I purposefully made as a resolution. However, all of this babymoon and travel-talk has made me want to plan a vacation!
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out!!
Baby is the size of a(n): honey bee
Upcoming appointments: January 21st to meet with the dr and review my blood results, discuss process, next steps, etc.
How are you feeling? So. Dang. Tired!! Queasy here and there, but I try to munch throughout the day, even when I don't want to.
Raves/Rants: My dog has been sick the past two nights needing to go out every hour or so. Hubs is great and been taking him out but I wake up when I hear them moving around... Even though they've been staying in another room. I hope my little pup is okay today... he's acting normal and running around throughout the day, only sick at night.... and I need some sleep. I may need some caffeine today... been avoiding it.
Questions: Not now...
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? Hubs and I were planning to go vegetarian for the new year, but with this being our first pregnancy I felt it was too much going on. So we are working on eating healthier and incorporating more plant-based meals... which has been going okay... still the occasional pizza here and there isn't too bad, right?

How are you feeling?: I’m having trouble getting comfortable at night. Nausea is maybe slightly better? As long as I eat non-stop.🙄 In my lunchbox today: PB&J sandwich, bagel with veggie cream cheese, a salad, cuties, saltines, mini ginger ale, mini coke, Pelligrino, La croix, I feel ridiculous.
Raves/Rants: Going for a little road trip next weekend for the long weekend, and I’m so looking forward to it!
Questions: thoughts on switching OBs and hospitals? I work for a different Health System than where I delivered last time and I’m considering switching to one of “our” hospitals but I’d have to find a new OB. How late would you consider waiting to switch? What factors should I consider?
GTKY: Any New Years resolutions? If so, how are they going? Not really. I bought one of those line a day journals and I’m trying to keep it up, but I’ve missed several days already! I need to put it somewhere where it’s in my face and I see it!

Baby is the size of a(n): Raspberry
Upcoming appointments: January 16th will be my first visit at 9 weeks + 2 days.
How are you feeling? Starting to get some nausea/food aversions. I thought I was going to avoid it this time around! Most meat is not sounding remotely appetizing. Specifically, the smell of deer meat is killing me. My husband did some hunting this season, so we have more deer meat than we know what to do with. I'm not a fan on a regular day, but now, it's 100 times worse.
Raves/Rants: Rave - Am I the only one who gets irrationally excited when a new birth month board opens up? It just feels good to make some progress and not be clear at the bottom anymore.
Questions: None that I can think of.
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? I made an unofficial resolution to take more pictures. Photography is my main hobby, besides mindlessly consuming Instagram content, and I've been in a bit of a rut the past few months. Trying to be more creative throughout my days!
@BusinessWife Really hoping for my second successful VBAC! After spending all of my last pregnancy worrying about whether or not I'd be able to do it, it was the greatest feeling when I did!
@kgrgreen FWIW, I much preferred the recovery from my vaginal birth to the c-section. It still wasn't a walk in the park and had its challenges, but it was pretty excruciating trying to hoist myself up to get the baby in the middle of the night or just get out of bed after my c-section. That recovery, for me at least, was a nightmare. My doctor told me the main risk of a VBAC was the possibility of a uterine rupture, but also that they're pretty rare. I just did a quick Google search, and read that fewer than 1% of women experience this. Alternatively, if you plan on having more children, the more c-sections you have, the more risk you have of the placenta implanting itself into the uterine wall in subsequent pregnancies. There pros and cons to each decision - it all depends on what you feel most comfortable with!
@RedBaramid my workout routine has completely changed and I want to ease back into what I was doing before, but I'm also afraid that I'll somehow cause damage even though I know I can't at this point
@riatortillaxo those are great resolutions!
@sarah0985 sorry to hear about your FIL
@BusinessWife less screen time is always a goal for me, but I never seem to actually make progress
@ziggymama06 I hope your dog feels better! Middle of the night sick walks are the worst, but glad your husband has taken care of those!

Upcoming appointments: 1/16.. dating/viability ultrasound and midwife appt
How are you feeling? Tired, sometimes food doesn't sound appetizing and when I do eat it feels like it's just stuck in the bottom of my throat, but overall I feel fine
Raves/Rants: I had bloodwork (just beta/progesterone) at my appointment last Thursday, and my midwife said she would call me if anything looked off and upload to the portal if everything was fine. Well, never got a call, but it's also Wednesday and it's still not on the portal... I know it doesn't realllyyy matter but I just like to see the number.
Questions:
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? Not a big resolution maker, but if I were to make one it would be to procrastinate less (not going well, seeing as I'm procrastinating right now...)
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: I'm team Green but my H is wanting to know. I wanted to be team green last time also, but H wanted to find out. Most people didn't know until after she was born, though. My H swears this time he won't tell anyone and I don't have to know. He just wants to know. We'll see how that goes.
Baby is the size of a(n):
Upcoming appointments: 1/13 is my first appointment. It will be with a nurse.
How are you feeling? I just started feeling a little nauseous this week but I'm hoping sickness will steer clear, at least a little longer. Last pregnancy, the sickness started around 8-9 weeks and last until 7 1/2 months. It was all day, every day.
Raves/Rants: I would definitely advise against being pregnant while having a toddler getting their molars in. It has been like a nightmare over here. I'm completely exhausted.
Questions: Any suggestions/advice for parenting two under two? This one will most likely be due the week before DD 2nd birthday.
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? I'm working on my language. I normally have the mouth of a sailor but with a toddler around that is close to repeating everything I say, it's something that I'll have no choice to get cleaned up this year.
@BusinessWife I had to have an emergency c with Polly and will most likely have a c this time around. It was very traumatizing for me and her. I couldn't imaging putting another child through that.
Funny story for those talking about daycare. My husband and I looked at centers and in-home licensed daycare's. We fell in love with an in-home daycare and moved forward with them. The same day I gave birth to my daughter I received an email from the provider telling me that they could no longer except my daughter because they lost their help. Talk about a stressful situation. I knew that we had four months to find something, and of course the first month doesn't even exist due to the complete exhaustion of a new born. Our close friend started to look for places for us and actually found our current center. We toured the place and love it. Thankfully they had an opening and could expect her once my husband's leave was over. And Bank of America for the win, they give you 16 weeks fully paid. Mean while I only had 6 weeks paid, but I still took 12 weeks.
@kgrgreen I hear that schedule c-sections are a dream compared to unplanned c-sections. I'm not exactly sure, but I hear a lot of people say that.
tara4910 I'm right there with you about getting comfortable at night. Laying on my back is already uncomfortable after a certain amount of time. I thought I had more time with that. I can't lay on my stomach because I'm sure everything is moving up to make sure and that's just uncomfortable. Laying on my left side bothers me after awhile, so I'm just stuck on my right side... Also, I switch doctors, but stayed in the same practice, maybe about half way through.
EDD/weeks+days: August 2/ 10+3
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Team Finding Out, by Friday hopefully. My guess is boy!
Baby is the size of a(n): prune
Upcoming appointments: Nurses Appointment Friday and then NT January 23.
How are you feeling? Pretty good, nothing to really complain about. My sense of smell though...
Raves/Rants: My insomnia is still around, but taking unisom makes me so tired throughout the day. I feel like I function better on the lack of sleep.
Questions: none
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? I don't make them because I can never stick to them. That's one of my biggest flaws.
@tara4910 I'm switching providers from the jump. Luckily I had gotten my records from them a while back, so no need to make a big deal now. I had the RE send my records to the new place, and assuming it's a good fit, it should be pretty seamless!
@fitandnerdy It just dawned on me to put one of those trackers on my phone. I do better when I can quantity it and see my progress. Maybe that would help you too!?
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding out
Baby is the size of a(n): Cherry
Upcoming appointments: Not until 1/20, which feels like forever....
How are you feeling? Tired and bloated. I just generally don’t feel like doing anything, but I am pushing through that with a toddler and a full time job. It’s not as bad for me this time though as I remember it being last time at the same stage of pregnancy, which is good but also makes me nervous since I haven’t had an ultrasound yet.
Raves/Rants: There are some major changes happening at my workplace over the next several months that we just found out about. Not sure yet if this qualifies as a rant or a rave - time will tell.
Questions: The daycare conversation got me thinking about childcare. We currently have a nanny. I would like to keep her but I have no idea how much more it will cost for her to watch 2 kids vs. 1. We haven’t told her about the baby yet, so we haven’t discussed the cost. Does anyone have experience having a nanny and adding a second child?
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? I typically don’t make New Years resolutions, but I set short-term goals as needed throughout the year.
@annabanana051416 I so want to know the answer to this question about nannies! We will 90% likely stick with daycare for #2, but I'm wondering if a nanny would actually be cheaper. My boss has one for her two kids, but I feel too awkward about asking (totally unhelpful for your purposes, I realize).
@BusinessWife @kgrgreen No personal experience, but my mom chose VBACs for my brother and sister after me, and for her I think it was simply wanting to minimize the number of surgeries she put her body through, if she could. Do either of you have any interest in trying for a natural birth / does that factor in to the decision at all?
@blackgirlmagic I can't believe you could know the sex THIS WEEK. So soon!
@smsaulino Yeaaaaah, I'd say the likelihood of YH being able to keep the sex a secret from you for 6 months is zero. Sounds like if y'all found out with your first, it's your turn to do things your way!
@fitandnerdy TB is my favorite procrastination tool. When I'm looking to kill 5 minutes and it's been a slow day on the boards I am so bummed! How do they staff the daycare at your university - do childhood development majors have a role? I think that would be pretty cool.
@lachnessmomster OMG the deer meat. MH is a husband [ETA: hunter, I mean], and when I was like 7 months pregnant with DS he insisted on cooking the backstrap. I refused to eat any but just having it in the kitchen was rough.
@ziggymama06 I'm so sorry for your pup...and you! Interrupted sleep sometimes feels as bad as none at all. Hope tonight's better.
@sarah0985 I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. I'm glad YH was able to go and be with his family (I can't even imagine what a profound loss) but know he'll be so glad to be home. And you'll be glad to have him there.
Weeks+Days: 10 weeks, 4 days

Baby is the size of a: Tootsie Pop!
Upcoming appointments: My final RE appointment - tomorrow (Thursday), January 9th.
How are you feeling? Overall I feel great! Mostly just tired and hungry all the time!
Raves: I love berries, but I rarely buy them because they always seem to go bad before I have a chance to eat them! So I bought a HUGE bag of frozen berries (blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries) and I’ve been pouring some into a little bowl every night before I go to bed, keeping the bowl in the refrigerator overnight to defrost, then eating them throughout the next day! They’re so good! Sometimes I put them in my vanilla yogurt at lunch, and it’s heavenly!
Questions: Did most you women FEEL pgrenant before find out? (This is just a quote from my favorite YouTube video, linked here in case anyone hasn’t seen it —> https://youtu.be/EShUeudtaFg I say this in my head, every time y’all ask if I have any questions. 😂)
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? I don’t do resolutions, but if I did, it would just be to continue eating healthy for myself and for the baby. I’m doing very well so far, especially compared to what I used to eat before I got pregnant.
@smsaulino my 1 1/2 year old is getting 6 teeth in including molars...my 3 year old thinks he runs our house. Constant power struggle but I will keep thinking I win that one by the end of the day.

How are you feeling? Surprisingly good. I've been really nauseated the last couple weeks and have had trouble eating since nothing sounds good, but then like several of you described, I have to eat or I get sicker. (@tara4910 Our lunches look similar!) But then randomly today I was SO HUNGRY and I hardly had any nausea at all. I even ate an actual full plate of Mexican food which has sounded repulsive to me lately since I can't tolerate any flavor. At first I got worried when my nausea went away so suddenly, but I'm trying to see it as just a good day where I got a break from an annoying symptom. Sense of smell is still raging. I felt like I needed to reapply my deodorant, but I put on a different one than usual and now I will probably have to shower tonight instead of in the morning because it's bothering me so much.
Raves/Rants: My house is a mess which makes me want to do nothing, but I want to clean it so I'll be more motivated and calm, but I've been napping too hard to clean the last few days.
Questions: Not yet
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? I make goals on a monthly basis, but I don't usually make new year's resolutions. One thing I want to focus on this month is being more active (walking, yoga). I'm not off to a great start though, mostly because my insomnia has gotten worse. When I come home from work, I just collapse into a long nap. I know that isn't great for getting my sleep schedule back in order, but I can't seem to stay awake.

How are you feeling?
Ok. The nausea is still intense, and I can smell everything, which, working in a vet clinic is the 6th circle of hell. But hey, I can sniff out an ear infection when it walks through the door. 🤢
Raves/Rants:
rant: my 3 (will be 4 at the end of the month) year old. He absolutely refuses to clean up after himself lately. I’m bombarded with huge tantrums when I ask him to put his toys away. It’s super frustrating. Also, he really wants an indoor pool, apparently. In the last week he has practically flooded my hallway and my bed with water because he “wants a pool to go swimming.” I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW HE IS SNEAKING THIS WATER PAST ME.
Questions:
Not yet.
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? My resolution this year was to cuss less. It’s not going well. I can still make a sailor blush.... I’M TRYING, DAMMIT. 😅
And to remember that the ACOG's current guidelines are that most women should be able to try for a VBAC and most women should be able to successfully have a VBAC. The only stipulation the ACOG places on VBACs are that you should have had a low transverse incision. So if doctors start placing extra stipulations on you that they apply to everyone, they're really not acting in accordance with current science!
ETA: ACOG isn't a governing body.
DD born June 2016
Second due August 2020 (team green!)
@emiliadkay With my first, I wanted a vaginal delivery. This time around, I'm just not sure. I kind of have the thought, "It came out that way once. Might as well do it again." But I think you (and your mom) have good perspective about minimizing surgeries.
Since DD was breach they tried to do a version and it was unsuccessful. Had it worked they would have induced me and I would have delivered that way. Because it didn't work and I was already hooked up to the epidural, they just wheeled me in for a CS. So it wasn't a traumatic, emergency CS... it just wasn't what I had hoped for.

@emiliadkay RIGHT!? It has a very distinct smell, doesn't it? I made a deer roast for the in-laws when they were in town, and we had so much leftover. Heating the leftovers up for days on end was torture. Triggered my gag reflex every time.
@duck_duck_goose I feel like there would be so many … interesting... smells in a vet clinic lol
@faith_2911 My house is a house too and I just have zero energy to do anything about it. I really need to at least put my laundry away that's been sitting on my side of the bedroom all week... Glad you are hungry! Make the most of it while it lasts!!
@duck_duck_goose Oh that's a tough gig when you have the nose of a bloodhound! At least you get to pet all the fluffy animals
Edited because I put a sad face instead of laughing face

Questions: nope
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? No resolutions here
Team Finding Out/Pink/Blue/Green: Finding Out
Baby is the size of a(n): Cherry ❤
Upcoming appointments: Anatomy scan on Jan 31. Nervous and excited all at the same time. Trying to stay positive.
How are you feeling? Nauseated, tired, waaay hotter than usual, and my boob hurt alot.
Raves/Rants: Super happy that I got to see the baby at my US yesterday, and that everything seems to be going well! I don't want to have to wait 3 weeks to see it again though. 😋
Questions: Not at the moment.
GTKY: Any new years resolutions? If so, how are they going? No actual resolutions. Just hoping for healthy and happy pregnancy!
@BusinessWife 42 hours? You're a rockstar. I'm sorry you didn't get the birth you were hoping for -- you've mentioned being unhappy with your last practice before, but I didn't realize it extended the whole way up to delivery. So much of this process is outside of our control, but I'm glad you're standing up for the things that should be.
@duck_duck_goose OMG with the hallway flooding!
@faith_2911 I had some of the same goals for this month re: "move more," and I'm similarly struggling with shitty sleep/tiredness and just feeling off. I suspect that if I would exercise a bit, I'd feel better and sleep better and it would all reinforce itself positively, but it's so hard to take that first step. Maybe this evening.
