Omg, the RLP! I have lightning crotch something fierce. I always forget how early it comes for me. Sometimes being a super short person and on my TW** 8th pregnancy **End TW** really sucks. It comes earlier and earlier. I've never had it this early, with ds2, I got it around 10ish weeks. Now, I'm almost 8 and it's full on.
Tired, tired, tired! Nausea comes and goes. I just start shoving pretzels and my son's mixed fruit cups in my mouth and it helps. I'm so grateful I've had the past 2 weeks off to get over what I hope was the worst part. I've felt much better today and yesterday.
The nausea has really kicked it up a notch the last day or so. I go back to work on Monday after a 2 week winter break and I am dreading having to wake up, get myself and my little one ready and out the door while fighting the nausea. With my last pregnancy, the first trimester fell on my summer break and I was able to sleep in and lay around when I didn't feel well. I miss having that luxury!
The afternoon exhaustion is my big struggle. Hungry most of the time but not sure what to eat. Vivid crazy dreams have also continued! I’m pretty sure RLP is also happening. If I stand too quick or stretch the wrong way shooting pain goes up my sides.
I was feeling nauseated throughout the day, with the worst being at night. I would wake up every 2 hrs needing to eat, leading to not a lot of sleep at night. Guys I tried Vitamin B6 for the first time last night and am so shocked at how much of the nausea has gone away! I was able to get sleep last night, I feel like a different person today!
Besides feeling nausea and hunger every 2 hours, I have sore boobs and also get out of breath easily and am constipated (though the prenatals might contribute there). May get some fiber gummies to help!
I thought my nausea was under control but the past two mornings I’ve been gagging and throwing up after I wake up. It probably isn’t helping that I went from sleeping until 7:30 while on vacation to waking up at 5:30 now that I’m back at work. I think I’ll need to modify my morning schedule so that I’m eating right away.
Other than that it’s just the usual fatigue, sore boobs, and evening bloat. Luckily no RLP yet. With DS I started getting sciatic pain later in my first trimester. I’m really hoping that doesn’t happen again.
I'm taking unisom and B6 and I still feel so crippled and negatively impacted by my nausea and fatigue. I haven't thrown up very much, which is great! But, I am barely making it through the days due to such severe nausea. I can't manage anything that isn't absolutely necessary (no going out to eat, no hanging out with friends, straight to bed after the kids, etc.). My first pregnancy I took the max amount of diclegis and still threw up almost every day of my pregnancy. I am trying to remember how long it lasted with my last pregnancy
@wife-and-mommy isn't it interesting how we forget! I'm trying to remember when this all subsided too. The good news is that it did and now it's hard to remember. I have been leaning on my H to make dinners because cooking (especially meat) nauseates me. I know that anything I do to keep blood pressure from dropping too low is helpful, so frequent food and water, some exercise...those are things I try to do to take care of myself and can manage with the background nausea but when that feeling and the tiredness hits all I want is to not do any of that! I am sometimes asleep before the kids. But sleep is not always restful as I've been having lots of nightmares.
Yes I've just been taking Vit B6 (25-50mg two to three times a day), it's only been 24hours but man this is the best I've felt for weeks--I'm hoping this lasts!
Oh friends on the nausea train, I'm finally on board too. So far I've only had one morning where I really tossed my cookies but in the middle of the night last night I kept waking up queasy so I ended up eating a bowl of grapes throughout the night to curb it. No part of that felt good to the part of me who counted her calories and ate carefully all of last year, but I am trying to remember that pregnancy is a whole different game.
@wife-and-mommy & @knottie0a8723c478a787a2 does taking B6 specifically really help with the nausea? Last pregnancy I battled it until I was 16 weeks deep and lost enough weight that my doctors thought I was struggling with ED and though it hasn't been so bad this far, I'm not convinced it won't get worse.
Also, anyone elses' chest feel like a bomb about to explode? It feels tight and sore all the time, and I for sure don't remember my chest being this tender last go round.
I feel exhausted. I'm like this everytime. I'm totally useless because all I want to do is sleep. I sleep about 12 hours a day total just broken up into naps.
And I am still having awful cramps. Trying to kick up my water intake more to see of it helps but im so tired of drinking water.

@psychobutthead The fatigue is real... I'm not sleeping well - not insomnia but interrupted sleep waking up just about every hour. I drink lots of water and get bored of it by the end of the day. I've been having some flavored seltzer the past few nights. The lime is my jam now and feel like it helps with the nausea a bit too.

@psychobutthead I'm pretty sick of water too, but I dug out my water infuser and that's helping. I load it up with lemons, lime, cucumbers and/or blueberries depending on my mood and that's helped me shake up the boring flavor. I'm also all on the flavored seltzer, it's helping me curb the soda cravings. Last time around I was really excited when watermelon season came around because chunks of watermelon in the infuser basket was really refreshing.

I’ve been taking b6 and it only slightly improved my nausea.
I swore by mini cans of cokes for nausea and especially indigestion in my first pregnancy and it’s definitely helping me this time as well. I know coke isn’t the best and I rarely drink it not pregnant but the mini cans is the perfect serving to limit and help

@sarah0985 I love sharing this experience of mine because it makes me chuckle. I had zero caffeine with my son and craved coke (and had it daily) with my daughter. Want to guess which child is the calm one? Totally anecdotal but I think you’ll be ok with your mini-cans 💗 especially if it helps your nausea!
@tyrion_ I’m a coffee drinker so I’m not concerned with moderate caffeine intake. I just am not a fan of pop/soda for heath reasons generally. With a toddler and first trimester pregnancy; give me all the caffeine!

@sarah0985 I don't love drinking soda either and try not to keep it in the house, but I have been drinking a 16oz bottle of ginger ale daily. I try to make it last all day long (I'll only open one a day so I still get enough water). There's something about the carbonation that is so soothing for this awful nausea.
You guys, I'm so tired. I keep waking up in the night and then it takes me over an hour to fall asleep again. I've been napping almost daily. This does not bode well for going back to work on Monday.
My insomnia has been awful. I wonder why that's a symptom?? You'd think we'd sleep really well to help grow baby 🤷 Has anyone found anything that helps with insomnia?

@MissIntentional I started taking unisom Thursday as well and I feel like it’s still in my system when I wake up. I’ve taken it around 9:30, still don’t fall asleep till about 11 but that’s much better than 1 or 2. But now I struggle big time in the morning. At least with my insomnia I can make it through the day and start to get the crash feeling around 7pm.

@sarah0985@wednesdaygirl1019 I love those mini cans too! I’ve been buying the mini ginger ales but I’ll try the mini coke too. The combo of the sugar + carbonation really eases my nausea. My coffee hasn’t been tasting so great the past two days so now I have a mild headache from caffeine withdrawal 😓
@tara4910 I didn’t like coffee my first pregnancy and it’s starting to come back as well. I had already been cutting back so that helped but the coke helps and there’s also a Tylenol with caffeine pill. It’s an exception with out the aspirin. I found that helped tons and in my first pregnancy allowed me to taper back my caffeine dependence down to zero. 2 pills initially. Then 1.5. Then 1. Then .5. Then none.

I need to try drinking coke. My nausea has been the worst yesterday and today. With my last pregnancy, having an English muffin or bagel first thing in the morning helped. Something about the carbs? I had toast this morning and I am feeling a little better. This is just awful, but I have to remember it is temporary. Going back to work tomorrow is going to be terrible.
Woah. Week 7 hit different. A couple days after Christmas (end of week 6), the nausea turned on like a light switch and food aversions have been so bad that I can typically only think of one thing to eat that doesn't make me feel like throwing up. But that one thing changes every day, every meal even. We're trying to cook more now that the holidays are over, but I have no idea what to ask hubs to get at the store tonight because I feel like I have to take it meal by meal. That also makes me feel so extra and difficult because I've never really been a picky eater, but this nausea is wild! Eating small, frequent meals helps curb it, but it doesn't prevent it on the bad days. Ginger ale and water crackers between meals are my life raft. I've been feeling like a child lately because I want no flavor whatsoever in my meals.
Also, I SMELL EVERYTHING. And everything smells bad. My family gifted me a bunch of candles, lotions, hand soaps, and other smelly goods, and even at Christmas, before the nausea hit, I figured I probably wouldn't want to use them because they smelled a little strong, but I was still pretty happy to have them for later. But once week 7 hit I actually had to put them completely away because I could smell an unlit candle in the next room over and it made me sick The grocery store smells too strong. The airport smells too strong. I can smell the laundry detergent on people as they walk by. Today I had to go to the store just to buy the most unscented hand soap I could possibly find because our old one suddenly made me gag.
I know these are both common symptoms, of course, but I was surprised by the degree to which I so suddenly experienced them! I kind of figured they would ramp up over time.
I've been extra annoyed and grumpy because all day I just go through waves of feeling like I'm going to vomit. But I know I could have it so much worse, and I'm glad that it started while I was on vacation so I could get used to it instead of surprising me at work. Like a lot of you guys, I'm nervous to return to work tomorrow. Hope everyone's Monday treats them more like a Friday!

I think it does with unisom. My husband just convinced me to switch to diclegis because I was still incredibly non-funtional and unable to complete even simple daily tasks. It's a prescription slow release with similar ingredients. It takes a few days to begin working based on my previous experience. I was extremely sick with my first and got on it after an ER visit for IV fluids. I read a lot about HG and extreme morning sickness and it seems like the sooner you begin medicine the better the results may be. After pregnancy #1 almost convinced me not to have another child, it's worth it to me! @RedBaramid I primarily lived on ice pops and ice cream sandwiches during first trimester with DS1. I ate anything I could manage and still lost 10 pounds. Pregnancy is a whole different ballgame (especially when you are so sick). Grapes are pretty healthy in the scheme of things! Maybe you'd like frozen grapes for an even sweeter tasting treat!
I'm so glad I'm not alone! I've just been feeling miserable with fatigue and nausea. @psychobutthead I'm totally with you on the 12+ hours of sleep a day. Walking up at 530 for my 11 hour workday tomorrow with no chance for napping is really going to be tough! Off to bed... hopefully to sleep!
Week 6 hit hard with lots of nausea and exhaustion. I found if I have a small bowl of cereal and some water first thing it helps a lot. I’m 9 weeks today, and it has been on and off with the nausea and exhaustion since then. There are some days I can barely get out of bed, and others I can get up and workout like I did pre-pregnancy. The holidays were tough with food aversions. I’m typically a very healthy eater and love vegetables, but I can’t stand cooked vegetables right now or salad. I found I really want cold food (milkshakes), pineapple, blueberries, and all the carbs. I love the days that I’m feeling good and can eat somewhat normally, but they’re few and far between. Acne has also been real. It’s the worst on my neck and body, and it’s frustrating that there aren’t many products that are safe the combat it. Anybody have suggestions?
I am struggling so badly with a lack of appetite! I don't really have too much nausea, I just never feel like eating and when I try can only have a few bites. Also very tired, feel exhausted from the moment my feet hit the floor in the morning .
For the last several days, I've been eating a lot of whole wheat bread toasted with cream cheese. Now, I am drinking orange juice, which I normally never do. DH made lamb last night and I could barely be in the same room as it, much less, eat it for dinner. I have also been eating Stacy's Naked Pita Chips before bed. My nurse recommended Unisom but I am trying to not take anything-- it's a last resort for me, I think.
My boobs are so sore and sensitive. Part of it is that they no longer seem to fit in my bra. I swear one day they were normal and the next they were huge, and look almost bruised from all of the blood vessels coming to the surface. They bothered me all day long.
I also made a terrible mistake and didn't pack enough food for my first day back at work. Well, I packed carbs (crackers and cereal bars) but no protein. I also only ate a small bowl of chex cereal for breakfast, so I was in trouble by lunch time when the nausea/lightheadedness set in. I ended up pulling into a McDonalds because it was the only place around and that cheeseburger tasted so delicious so it was worth it. But I definitely can't do that every day!
One of my students mentioned McDonalds today and it was all I could think of for the rest of the day! I'm definitely having lack of appetite and food aversions, mostly to meat. The most appetizing thing to me right now is a bowl of noodles. I stopped at a local meat market after work to get a few things for dinners this week and I am amazed the nausea didn't send me running out of there.
@sarah0985 I wish I'd thought of coke before now! The only coke we had in the house growing up was for stomach bugs, and coke was my mom's #1 nausea treatment plan. So now it has this amazing placebo effect for me in addition to the bubbles (that really do help).
For the last 4-5 days I've been struggling with tiredness and light nausea. Nothing too bad, but I had zero symptoms with my first pregnancy so I was unprepared for this and feel frustrated with myself. The nausea makes me want to eat all day long, but so little actually sounds good. I deeply regret my well-planned, "it's a New Year let's eat healthy!" grocery run last week. I just want salt and carbs and salty carbs. Ramen sounds like heaven.
@emiliadkay My office is right across from a Whole Foods with a ramen bar. It’s only $5 for a decent sized bowl. You better believe I’ve been getting it almost every day since my nausea kicked in.
