  • I was feeling nauseated throughout the day, with the worst being at night. I would wake up every 2 hrs needing to eat, leading to not a lot of sleep at night. Guys I tried Vitamin B6 for the first time last night and am so shocked at how much of the nausea has gone away! I was able to get sleep last night, I feel like a different person today!

Besides feeling nausea and hunger every 2 hours, I have sore boobs and also get out of breath easily and am constipated (though the prenatals might contribute there). May get some fiber gummies to help!
  • @knottie0a8723c478a787a2 did you take just a vitamin B6 tablet?

@BusinessWife I'm going to get some fiber gummies today!
  • I'm taking unisom and B6 and I still feel so crippled and negatively impacted by my nausea and fatigue. I haven't thrown up very much, which is great! But, I am barely making it through the days due to such severe nausea. I can't manage anything that isn't absolutely necessary (no going out to eat, no hanging out with friends, straight to bed after the kids, etc.). My first pregnancy I took the max amount of diclegis and still threw up almost every day of my pregnancy. I am trying to remember how long it lasted with my last pregnancy
  • @wife-and-mommy isn't it interesting how we forget! I'm trying to remember when this all subsided too. The good news is that it did and now it's hard to remember. :)
I have been leaning on my H to make dinners because cooking (especially meat) nauseates me. I know that anything I do to keep blood pressure from dropping too low is helpful, so frequent food and water, some exercise...those are things I try to do to take care of myself and can manage with the background nausea but when that feeling and the tiredness hits all I want is to not do any of that! I am sometimes asleep before the kids. But sleep is not always restful as I've been having lots of nightmares.
  • Yes I've just been taking Vit B6 (25-50mg two to three times a day), it's only been 24hours but man this is the best I've felt for weeks--I'm hoping this lasts!
  • Oh friends on the nausea train, I'm finally on board too. So far I've only had one morning where I really tossed my cookies but in the middle of the night last night I kept waking up queasy so I ended up eating a bowl of grapes throughout the night to curb it.  No part of that felt good to the part of me who counted her calories and ate carefully all of last year, but I am trying to remember that pregnancy is a whole different game.

@wife-and-mommy & @knottie0a8723c478a787a2 does taking B6 specifically really help with the nausea? Last pregnancy I battled it until I was 16 weeks deep and lost enough weight that my doctors thought I was struggling with ED and though it hasn't been so bad this far, I'm not convinced it won't get worse.

Also, anyone elses' chest feel like a bomb about to explode? It feels tight and sore all the time, and I for sure don't remember my chest being this tender last go round.

I’ve been taking b6 and it only slightly improved my nausea.

  • @sarah0985 I love sharing this experience of mine because it makes me chuckle. I had zero caffeine with my son and craved coke (and had it daily) with my daughter. Want to guess which child is the calm one? Totally anecdotal but I think you’ll be ok with your mini-cans 💗 especially if it helps your nausea!
  • @tyrion_ I’m a coffee drinker so I’m not concerned with moderate caffeine intake. I just am not a fan of pop/soda for heath reasons generally. With a toddler and first trimester pregnancy; give me all the caffeine!

  • @MissIntentional I started taking unisom Thursday as well and I feel like it’s still in my system when I wake up. I’ve taken it around 9:30, still don’t fall asleep till about 11 but that’s much better than 1 or 2. But now I struggle big time in the morning. At least with my insomnia I can make it through the day and start to get the crash feeling around 7pm.

  • @sarah0985 @wednesdaygirl1019    I love those mini cans too! I’ve been buying the mini ginger ales but I’ll try the mini coke too. The combo of the sugar + carbonation really eases my nausea. My coffee hasn’t been tasting so great the past two days so now I have a mild headache from caffeine withdrawal 😓

  • @tara4910 I didn’t like coffee my first pregnancy and it’s starting to come back as well. I had already been cutting back so that helped but the coke helps and there’s also a Tylenol with caffeine pill. It’s an exception with out the aspirin. I found that helped tons and in my first pregnancy allowed me to taper back my caffeine dependence down to zero. 2 pills initially. Then 1.5. Then 1. Then .5. Then none.

  • I need to try drinking coke. My nausea has been the worst yesterday and today. With my last pregnancy, having an English muffin or bagel first thing in the morning helped. Something about the carbs? I had toast this morning and I am feeling a little better. This is just awful, but I have to remember it is temporary. Going back to work tomorrow is going to be terrible.

I think it does with unisom. My husband just convinced me to switch to diclegis because I was still incredibly non-funtional and unable to complete even simple daily tasks. It's a prescription slow release with similar ingredients. It takes a few days to begin working based on my previous experience. I was extremely sick with my first and got on it after an ER visit for IV fluids. I read a lot about HG and extreme morning sickness and it seems like the sooner you begin medicine the better the results may be. After pregnancy #1 almost convinced me not to have another child, it's worth it to me!
@RedBaramid I primarily lived on ice pops and ice cream sandwiches during first trimester with DS1. I ate anything I could manage and still lost 10 pounds. Pregnancy is a whole different ballgame (especially when you are so sick). Grapes are pretty healthy in the scheme of things! Maybe you'd like frozen grapes for an even sweeter tasting treat!
  • I'm so glad I'm not alone! I've just been feeling miserable with fatigue and nausea.
@psychobutthead I'm totally with you on the 12+ hours of sleep a day.
Walking up at 530 for my 11 hour workday tomorrow with no chance for napping is really going to be tough! Off to bed... hopefully to sleep!
  • Week 6 hit hard with lots of nausea and exhaustion. I found if I have a small bowl of cereal and some water first thing it helps a lot. I’m 9 weeks today, and it has been on and off with the nausea and exhaustion since then. There are some days I can barely get out of bed, and others I can get up and workout like I did pre-pregnancy. The holidays were tough with food aversions. I’m typically a very healthy eater and love vegetables, but I can’t stand cooked vegetables right now or salad. I found I really want cold food (milkshakes), pineapple, blueberries, and all the carbs. I love the days that I’m feeling good and can eat somewhat normally, but they’re few and far between. Acne has also been real. It’s the worst on my neck and body, and it’s frustrating that there aren’t many products that are safe the combat it. Anybody have suggestions?
  • I am struggling so badly with a lack of appetite! I don't really have too much nausea, I just never feel like eating and when I try can only have a few bites. Also very tired, feel exhausted from the moment my feet hit the floor in the morning  :s
  • For the last several days, I've been eating a lot of whole wheat bread toasted with cream cheese. Now, I am drinking orange juice, which I normally never do. DH made lamb last night and I could barely be in the same room as it, much less, eat it for dinner.
I have also been eating Stacy's Naked Pita Chips before bed.
My nurse recommended Unisom but I am trying to not take anything-- it's a last resort for me, I think.

  • One of my students mentioned McDonalds today and it was all I could think of for the rest of the day!
I'm definitely having lack of appetite and food aversions, mostly to meat. The most appetizing thing to me right now is a bowl of noodles. I stopped at a local meat market after work to get a few things for dinners this week and I am amazed the nausea didn't send me running out of there.
