Lordy have mercy....the new guy we're using is killing me. He's STILL working on the task I gave him last Wednesday. It should have taken him a day tops to batch modify some title blocks. He's about 75% finished and I'm sure people could have done them one by one and been done sooner.
I had a bit of a scare yesterday at my 2nd NST appointment. They took my blood pressure as usual and it was quite high (138/97). They were going to send me to Labor & Delivery at the hospital, but thankfully after an hour it was a little lower. My primary OB was still nervous about preeclampsia so she sent me to get some outpatient lab work done at the hospital. I just saw my results this morning and everything seems to be in the normal range. I'm on baby aspirin now and will be monitoring my blood pressure at home. But hopefully no more BP scares...I feel like I'm juggling enough with my fluctuating fasting glucose numbers.
@lanie1000, that's so scary! Hopefully the aspirin works to keep you BP down. I'm on it too and have been since our FET in June.
Today was our monthly staff breakfast and apparently it was my baby shower too. It's never really a surprise but I thought it would be at the January one, not this one so that was a nice surprise. We got lots of clothes for baby and a Target gift card to buy the stuff we need.
Now that my RCS is officially scheduled, as well as my last OB appt the week before, sh*t is getting real, real quick!! Might spend some more time getting the temporary nursery ready tonight. There’s not a ton to do since we don’t have a bunch of stuff but I need to move some things out of that closet. DH has a meeting so fingers crossed DS will happily play in his room while I do stuff.

@jvk2012 yay for a surprise shower! And you can never go wrong with a target gift card.
@ibabyloveb87 how did you pick the date? I'm guessing I'll be picking a date soon (induction at 39 weeks) and I'm hoping for January 29th. My daughter was due on July 5th and I was induced on June 29th. Since this baby is due on Feb 5, I think it would be kinda nice for him to be born on Jan 29th. Also, remembering their birthdays would be super simple!
Anyone else having a RCS or an early induction? If so, how are you thinking about your date?
@lanie1000 well I can’t have a RCS without medical need prior to 39 weeks. I feel like that’s fairly standard. I put in a request with my OB 2 weeks ago for it to be on the 13th when I’m 39 weeks exactly and they called today to schedule it. I wanted to avoid Valentine’s Day and they don’t really do them on weekends unless of course you go into labor on your own. The 13th is a Thursday.

My department at school is throwing me a surprise shower after school tomorrow. My work BFF told me because I hate surprises and am super introverted. She’s the best. 😂
I’ve definitely been over doing it these past few days with getting stuff ready for Christmas and my pregnant body hates me. I’m wondering how someone with two small kids and a long to do list actually rests 🧐
@lanie1000 that’s scary! @TennisLove30 enjoy your shower That’s nice your friend told you. I’d want a heads up just to make sure I looked presentable lol
@lanie1000 I’m being induced this time (went into spontaneous labor on my own with DS). Here are my reasons for my date: -My midwife comes for delivery no matter what. But I prefer to know who’s on call if I were to need an unplanned csection. Since I’m in the OR with these docs, I know how they operate and I have a preference. My favorite OB for surgery is on call this day. -I will be 39w4d which I hope will help get me a smaller baby to push out (I’m 4’10” and DS1 was 8lb9oz). -It’s DH’s grandpa’s bday (he passed a couple years ago) and this baby will have grandpa’s name for his middle name -It’s the 10th, and DS1 also has a bday on the 10th of another month, so easy to remember 😆
I briefly mentioned this in the group 4 checkin, but is there such thing as a too active baby?? I swear there hasn't been much down time from her the last few days. Night before last she was kicking and punching away constantly for almost 3 hours straight! Yesterday felt her all day too. Is this an indicator she's going to be a handful when she arrives? Lol
@babyroma, I was looking back at old messages I sent my OB with my 1st pregnancy and apparently once I asked if there was a concern if baby was more active than usual. The response was no, only if there is decreased activity could there be a concern. Anecdotal note: My DD is very active haha!
@babyroma my second was way more active than my first and it’s very true now. The night before I went into labor with ds1 I felt him all day long, there were tons of huge movements. Kid 2 and 3 seem to be pretty active most of the time though
I had one baby that was way more active than the others and I was convinced he was going to be a handful and honestly he was a unicorn baby and us pretty good kid. This baby is extremely active too, so I am hopeful he is very much like his big brother.
@babyroma this baby is much more active than DD1 but DD1 was breech and this one is head down and I think that has a lot to do with it. DD1 is a very active person haha. Aren't all toddlers though?

I just have to give a shout-out to my provider. They offered me a growth scan for 34w today since I am >35 so AMA. I asked for the reasoning and they said to look out for a small baby. If the baby is small then they would do further testing to make sure that she is getting enough nutrients and it could even lead to an early induction.
Y'all I was a 5# baby and so was DD1. I indicated that since we are just small naturally I think the extra knowledge would only stress me out and set us on a path of interventions that I was really not going for. She was like OK - as long as she is measuring on track in fundal height and continues to be active we are good - otherwise we can revisit.
This is such a different experience than my OB experience where they just shuttled me up to the U/S room in week 34 and were like time for your ultrasound! I feel so empowered to make educated decisions and really play a part in my own delivery.
Oh, also baby is completely head down which is so exciting, as I've mentioned before I had a planned cesarean with DD1 because she was breech so I'm so glad to have a different experience this time.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before or not but my DH travels a fair amount for work. He’s really tried to keep it to 3 nights max since DS was born but sometimes he has to be gone a full week.
Anyway, If one more person tells me they don’t know how I’m going to do it with 2, I might jump them. I didn’t say I expected this to be easy but it’s happening. Telling me how hard it is is NOT helpful and I’m sooooo over it.
You know how I’ll deal with it? Because I have no choice.

@ibabyloveb87 yup you do it because you have no choice. I HATE when people focus on the negative. Like no shit it’s going to be hard but how about you tell me I’ll do great or offer to freaking help me.
This will be baby 3 for us. So I’ll have an almost 3.5 year old, a 19 month old and a newborn. My h doesn’t travel out of town but leaves that house at 6:30 and rarely walks in the door before 7:30 and occasionally has stuff on weekends. We have family close so I rely on them a ton. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
@clee5711 yesss it’s like ok if you think I need help then come on over! We’ve got a great support system of friends and grandparents so I’m not that worried about it.

@leksiL Can't love that enough!! It's awesome that you know that about your family history and feel confident!
Just popping in to catch up- our whole house is down with a head cold this week and the number of times I've snissed my pants is ridiculous. Apparently I've got 1 day worth of coughing and sneezing in me before all bets are off.
@ibabyloveb87 I’m going to have to steal that approach! The next time someone makes a comment about how I’ll have my hands full I’m going to ask them if they’re offering to help out.
oh man guys, I went to a MOM's club cookie swap until 9 p.m. last night and feel like I was out until 3 a.m....so tired!!! On the positive end, I have a lot of cookies, and some more people I can say hi to at events.

@leksiL lots of cookies sounds amazing! H and I made some spiced molasses cookies and Joe froggers last weekend and we were not fans of the latter. I'm making more of the spiced ones this weekend to take to my parents for christmas!
Also baby brain got me good this morning. I went to reply to an email and somehow sent it to myself instead of intended recipient then when I read it was thinking "this sounds an awful lot like what I wrote..." 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
@babyroma Baby brain is so real!!! I had to dial into a conference call remotely and had entered around 4 digits of the phone number before I realized I had opened my calculator app on my phone and not the dial screen. ((sigh)) I have no idea how I'm going to get through the next few weeks of work...
@leksil he used Cruzan to make them. The recipe called for Millers(?) Dark rum but the store didn't have it. I think we also decided for the amount of effort that went into making them it was not worth it. They just weren't as molasses-y as the others were which was super disappointing to me.
Ha I’m glad everyone else is doing silly baby brain things too! Today at work I needed to call pharmacy about returning some unused Lidocaine I found. I start rambling on and the girl didn’t know how to help me...turns out I had called the operator and forgot to ask to be transferred to pharmacy. Poor operator was probably like WTF!
Ugh, I am so over my coworker and her snarky comments in regards to me staying away from her because she has been home sick the last two days with a fever and vomiting. She is making me feel guilty and that I am overreacting because I said I was staying away and have been spraying down anything she touches. I just want to scream, " I am 33 weeks pregnant!! What do you not get about trying to do whatever I can to NOT get sick?" That is seriously the last thing I would need right now. Ugh, so annoying.
My daughter turns five tomorrow, and it just hit me tonight that she is a little girl now. I was going through baby pictures, and the nostalgia hit hard!
@bg122785 Seriously, what do people not get about us not wanting to get sick?! My sister and her family has come to visit for both Thanksgiving and Christmas which is great until I go to see them, and they are hacking up a lung. I am now on my second cold in a month and am miserable. I live seeing them and would probably have chosen to anyway, but no heads up until I get there is flat out rude. Hope you don't catch what your coworker had.
*warning - whiny rant!* UGH - so last night I made buffalo chicken, so good. But after dinner I felt so unbelievably crampy! Like period cramps. I googled my symptoms and it was like oh signs of preterm labor. I started to freak out and I was texting my doula and I am going to go in to the midwives today to get tested for a UTI.
I fell asleep at 10 a.m. and then woke up around 2 after having a bad dream about DD1 and couldn't fall asleep, finally read from 3-4:30 and then up at 6. So I'm basically exhausted. Also I can't shake the feeling that I'm not making it till February. I have never had a head down baby before so didn't have any cramping or this many contractions last time, so not sure if I am freaking out for no reason or what.
thanks for listening to my rant!

Today is my last "normal checkup" for the pregnancy. Even though it's still not totally normal because I'm doing a rotation with the rest of the doctors in the practice so i can meet them in case my normal one is out when I go into labor. Which I'm glad they do...I'm not sure I would handle a new face in that moment well lol. After this one I get to start the weekly NSTs! But im just trying to get through today because yesterday about 2 or 3pm I mentally checked out of work!
