@chichiphin seriously idk how we’re so far along! Seeing all the other bmbs is crazy!
Related question: when is 3rd trimester, 27 weeks or 28 weeks? I feel like I’ve been seeing both... Most confusing is the site I was using for initial dating and it says 28 weeks but picked the date for when I’ll be 27 weeks...

@varimama I’ve read the start of week 28 for the third tri. Another confusing thing is weeks to months conversion. Half the charges I’m seeing say I’m 6 mo @ 23 weeks... one said 26 weeks! Very confusing
@varimama@chichiphin When people ask about months I just subtract from my due date, I’m due 3/27 which is a little less than 4 months from now, so I’m 5 months along. I think 3rd tri starts at 28 weeks too.
LOL @kantobean hahah! It’s true! Or they ask me “what’s that in months?” When I tell them the weeks. Like I don’t know exactly but I’m roughly 5.5 months along.
@chichiphin I just google a “weeks to months” calculator, which says 6 months is 26 weeks. It’s 5.5 months at 24 weeks.
Do any ladies here have SPD (symphasis pubis dysfunction)? I feel like my vagina bone is literally going to snap in half and I don't know how to get relief. It's been a challenge all three pregnancies, but this one takes the cake. Any suggestions are seriously appreciated
@mommyxthree2020 I fractured my pubic bone about 5 years ago, so I've had some pain with both pregnancies, although I doubt it's full blown SPD. I know they say to keep your legs together as much as possible (which, you know, it totally easy when you're wrangling any existing kids *eyeroll*), only walk on even surfaces, and some even say to wrap something like an ace bandage around your hips to help with support. I asked my OB and her PA and they just kinda give a sympathetic look but have no idea what to do. My best advice would be to see a physical therapist who specializes in women's health - I'm seeing one on the 13th.
Any second or third time mamas experiencing Braxton Hicks? I’m a TTM and I don’t think I ever had them before but now I think I am! I guess you feel everything more each pregnancy. 😩
I’m 26 weeks, I’m hydrated, I’m trying to take frequent breaks while keeping two toddlers happy. Is this temporary or am I going to feel this for the next 14 weeks? 🤷🏻♀️
@momoftoddlers I've had BH with both pregnancies. So far, a little less with this pregnancy than my first. As long as you're not having more than 5 per hour, and they're not painful or increasing intensity, you should be fine. Of course, always call your doctor if you're concerned, though.
It might be temporary, or you might feel this for the next 14 weeks. No way to know. I have some days with lots of BH, and some with none.
@momoftoddlers oh yasss girl. I've had BH with all 3 pregnancies, and I've definitely noticed that they are more intense with each pregnancy. Like @stassischroeder said, as long as they aren't painful or intensifying (and not accompanied with anything concerning like spotting etc), they are likely just BH. Hydrate as best as you can and make sure to stretch! Call your provider if you have ANY concerns.
@stassischroeder UGH that sounds horrible. I sprained the ligaments that connect your pubic bones together (my son had shoulder dystocia and got stuck after crowning....long story) and I've been sensitive ever since. This time it is excruciating. Looks like I'll just have to keep my legs closed and try to take it easy lol
@mauvelousone Do whatever your Ob's office told you to? I forget what they told me bc I wrote it down when I asked at my last visit--I am sure you can call and ask? But I think they said nothing special, really. My friend told me to eat eggs, but that has been debunked.
@mauvelousone mine told me basically to avoid cereal, muffins, etc... they suggested eggs & bacon. I was out of eggs so I had low sugar yogurt and bacon.

@momoftoddlers I’ve never had BH in previous pregnancies but I’ve been getting them with this pregnancy and they HURT. I notice they come on really strong if I am doing too much bending and lifting and over-exerting myself but as long as I sit down and put my feet up and have something to drink they subside pretty much immediately.
Cool, avoid sugar but still OK to eat. That will make it a lot easier to withstand the workday! My OB gave me the lab order with no further instruction.
For STMs, at what point in your pregnancy did you find a pediatrician? How did you go about setting up an appointment and what do you need to do once you’ve chosen one?
Also, does anyone go to a family practice rather than a pediatrician? My DH’s PCP is part of a family practice, and I like the idea of all of us going to the same practice.
@creativesoul83 we go to a family practice instead of a ped. We didn’t have to do anything extra besides let them know we were expecting and DS was automatically added as a patient. I like it because we really trust our doctor and he supports our parenting style which can be hard to find! He’s great with DS and has young kids of his own so I feel like he gets it. Plus I can double up appointments with DS and I if I need to!

@creativesoul83 I can’t remember exactly when. I don’t think it hurts to go early to find a pediatrician. I brought a sheet of Qs I found off the internet (I think it was from the bump actually). I just called the doctor and explained what I was looking for and they sched the appt to meet a doctor and talk about the practice. At the end I asked how to pick them and they told me and gave me paperwork. My friend had referred them and they passed all my Qs, so I didn’t meet with any other pediatricians to make the choice easier ha. They have one of their doctors at the hospital I deliver at every morning so that also made it easy.
I guess I actually should call them and make sure I have the paperwork for baby number 2 bc DS won’t have another scheduled appt until after baby is here. Glad you reminded me.
@creativesoul83, we went with family practice instead of a ped for DS, and it's worked out ok for us so far. there really hasn't been much difference in terms of what the well-child visits consist of (I went with a ped for DD when she was a baby). though I have to say, I really liked the family practice doc we went with for DS, she was able to pick up on his speech delay and she referred us to early intervention services for it (she is a mom herself with 4 kids.) I guess I never went out to find a practitioner before either of my kids's births, I was just referred after the fact.. but I wouldn't think it would hurt to seek one out beforehand.
Ok, I jumped on TB this morning to sing the praises of Poise pads instead of panty liners as per @stassischroeder 's recommendation (thank you!). But it got me thinking, which leads me to this TMI pee question (sigh). I'm a STM and I'm having trouble with leaking right before I sit down to use the toilet. Like, as I'm trying to pull down all my layers and take off my support belt, I start leaking. It's like I waited way too long to use the restroom, but it happens even if I don't need to go urgently. Is this normal or should I have better control of this? I don't usually have this problem when I'm not pregnant.
@keeksie84 LOL, glad I could help! Regarding the leakage, you'll probably have to ask your OB or even a physical therapist who specializes in women's issues to get an idea if it's normal or not. A lot of PTs will say that no leakage is normal, and a lot of OBs will say that all leakage is normal.
@keeksie84 I’m a TTM and I have that exact same pee problem. I believe it’s normal for subsequent pregnancies and I can only hope it stops thereafter. It’s ridiculously annoying.
@stassischroeder@mommyxthree2020 Thanks for sharing about the Braxton Hicks. I’m not worried because they are mild, random, and quick. Just annoying! @miss.sally I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one feeling them for the first time third time around. This third baby is keeping me on my toes!
@mrsc918 I used a silicone Qualo ring last time around. I haven't needed to switch to it yet, but I have it on standby. I've also heard of people buying a cheaper, costume jewelry type ring in a bigger size, if you don't want to wear a rubber/silicone ring.
@mrsc918 I second @stassischroeder and the Enso rings!!! I got two from amazon that I wear stacked and I freaking LOVE them. I basically never wear my diamonds anymore. I got the braided ones. Can’t even feel them on!
@creativesoul83 I asked my midwife during an office visit if they had local pediatrician recommendations, and she had a printed list of places they recommend. She specifically recommended a single pediatrician that upon further research online I found also had a lot of good reviews. This particular pedi is popular enough that he only takes new patients if they are newborn, then you can stick with him through their older years, so I'm glad we were able to get in with him when we did.
@creativesoul83 I think I started looking for a ped during my third tri, or late second tri. I asked friends and called to make an appt with the ped and ask her some questions. She was awesome and has been great with DD since the beginning.
I’ve actually been thinking about this because I probably need to call the doctor’s office and let them know I’m having another baby. DD won’t have another checkup until Feb and I sort of feel like I should let our ped know before that. But it feels awkward to just call the secretaries and be like “Can you tell Dr. XYZ that I’m having another baby in March?” 😂
@kantobean When I was pregnant with DS, I called DD's pediatrician office with that exact same thinking... and they were like, '...ok?... See you in a few months?" Lol Lol Lol. But I still like them knowing!
@kantobean I had a similar experience to @EmilyLove25 where I brought it up in advance about DS2 and they were just like "when you are delivering in the hospital, just let them know who your pediatrician choice is, then at the 4 day appointment you'll fill out the new patient paperwork." Not sure if that is the case everywhere, but there was nothing to be done for us before birth for a sibling.
