I’ve been having monster headaches too but I’ve attributed them to changing my sleep position. I didn’t want to take any medication but at my appointment this week my doctor encouraged me to take Tylenol. She said that she’s concerned about headaches that don’t go away after taking medication. I still plan to take them as a last resort if caffeine, water and ice packs don’t help.
Side note— if anyone else is a back sleeper who can’t figure out how to sleep on their side, my doctor recommended just putting a body pillow under the right side of the body. I’m sleeping on a slant but I’m still on my back and can sleep through the night.
@drkoyya I’m totally a back sleeper that can never get comfortable now. I also have headaches (from neck aches) from sleeping differently some days (I have neck problems to begin with, one reason I’m so comfortable on my back). My doctor recently recommended a pillow or rolled up blanket under one side to put me on a slant and it definitely helps.
@drkoyya My doctor had me take an magnesium supplement for a bit 2nd tri last time I was pregnant for the headaches. Maybe call and ask about that? It worked for me. I have had headaches this time around but have been able to work through them this time.
@queenklau I am 16weeks and still tired. I feel asleep last night at 7 and my DH woke me up with a coffee at 730 cause he didn’t want me to over sleep. I’m glad he did, cause I think I would’ve felt groggy all day if I kept sleeping.
@smashley09, when will this second trimester energy come back????!!! I remember with DD1, I felt amazing during the second trimester, but can’t remember when this started. I’ll be patient, maybe 17-18? You let me know

Hey guys, I've posted a few times more back at the beginning of the pregnancy, but I've mostly just been lurking the past 2 months, my anxiety has been really bad. ***TW**** I'm 15 weeks pregnant today, and started bright red bleeding an hour ago. I'm at the ER now, waiting to be seen. I'm really freaking out, I've had two miscarriages in the past. However, they detected a SCH at my 8 week ultrasound and I'm really hoping it's just that, they never checked back on it again after that. I'm sorry for posting this here, I know there was a spotting/bleeding thread a while back, but I couldn't find it.
Thanks @pirateduck! I just got home, baby's heartrate was 159, and was measuring 4 days ahead. They didn't see anything wrong with the placenta or any abruption, and aren't sure why I'm bleeding. They told me to follow up with my OB tomorrow. I'm glad to hear the baby's good, but the unknown bleeding is freaking out my anxiety. I also just still feel shaken up by everything. The bleeding took me right back to flashbacks to my two miscarriages.
Thanks @drkoyya, I'm trying really hard to stay positive, but I woke up about 2 hours ago because of cramping, and went to the bathroom and there was another gush of bright red blood. I'm just so scared right now, I just want it to be morning so I can call and go see my doctor. I keep thinking back through my other pregnancies, and my two sons never had any spotting at all, but my two miscarriages were like this.
@heatherlynn321 I'm so sorry you're going through this! I hope it's just the SCH and nothing serious!
Here's the thread, if you still want to use it. A lot of the ladies who follow it have a lot of experience with spotting and they're a wonderful resource and support system!
Thanks @shamrocandroll, the ER doctor last night said that they didn't see the SCH on the scan. Then the nurse told me this morning they assumed it was post-coital bleeding, but I've been on pelvic rest since I found out about the SCH so I know it's not that, also they didn't even do a pelvic exam last night so I don't know why they would just assume that. The nurse this morning was frustrating, she didn't seem to understand why I wanted an appointment today, when they told me last night to get a follow up, especially if I started bleeding and cramping again. Sorry for venting, I'm just frustrated right now.
@heatherlynn321 I’m so sorry, bleeding and spotting of any sort is always scary and I’m sorry the nurse wasn’t more compassionate in this situation, keep us updated after your appointment.
@heatherlynn321 so sorry you are going through this and sorry the nurse isn't being more understanding. Hopefully your dr will be able to reassure you and help figure out what is causing the bleeding.
Thanks guys! I went to my appointment, and no new information. At least they checked for a vaginal infection today though and actually checked my cervix. I'll hear back on any possible infections in a couple days, maybe more though with the holidays. I'm still just really frustrated at not knowing where the bleeding is coming from. They said the baby looks good, and it's not coming from my cervix or anything. I'm just really scared walking around knowing I could start bleeding any minute. I've had complete breakdowns each time it happens because it takes me back to my miscarriages everytime. Luckily I have the week off of school for the holidays, but I'm very wary going back next week.
@heatherlynn321 I'm glad baby is still doing well and the doctor doesn't seem too worried. But I'm so sorry you're dealing with this and all the anxiety that comes with it. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and hope you get some more reassuring news soon!
@lisush thanks for the kind words! I'm trying to focus on the positive, but I've always struggled with anxiety, and it's always worse when I'm pregnant, so this bleeding has just made it that much worse. I'm trying to remind myself of what my therapist would say right now, which is to try to focus on the positive facts, which is that the baby is healthy.
@heatherlynn321 I'm sure I would be just as anxious! Don't feel bad if you need to keep bothering the doctors to help ease your anxiety if this keeps up with no clear answers.
@lisush thanks! The doctor said to definitely call back anytime I'm bleeding. My 16 week appointment had already been scheduled for 12/3, so at least I go back in a week.
@heatherlynn321 one of the things that helped me previously was asking the doctor what signs to look out for to indicate that things are getting worse or that you need to be seen prior to your next appointment. Even if you know what these are, it may help you to hear it again from your doctor or nurse. I found it reassuring to be able to say, well, I'm not experiencing X, Y, Z yet so things must still be ok.
@drkoyya I am usually a belly sleeper, but since becoming pregnant I find myself waking up on my back almost every time. I'm not concerned about it, basically your body knows what it needs and as you grow you will move around and adjust your sleeping positions naturally.
@queenklau I feel like I remember it being around 16/17 weeks with DD when my energy returned.
@heatherlynn321 I'm sorry about the bleeding scare and that they don't have any answers for you yet. I'm glad baby is doing well so far. I hope they are able to figure it out and the bleeding stops.
@heatherlynn321 the same thing happened to me two nights ago! I peed and there was a ton of blood with cramping. I started assuming the worst right away and went to the ER. They checked my baby babe and they said everything looked fine. They labeled it as a “ threatened miscarriage” because they couldn’t find a known cause. I love knowing my baby’s okay but now they are saying my new safe zone is 20 weeks and right now I’m 13. It’s so frustrating because I almost thought I was in the clear and now have anxiety when I pee. Did you find anything out? Thinking of you. My doctor said it’s basically a waiting game 😞😞😞
@ellie2020 I'm still waiting to hear back on a possible vaginal infection, I guess I'll hear back Monday at this point. The ER and my OB didn't make it sound like a big deal, they didn't mention anything about 20 weeks being the new safe point. My OB did a pelvic exam and said everything looked good with my cervix and she didn't see where the blood would be coming from inside, that it seemed like maybe I got a scratch inside my vagina somehow and it caused the bleeding. The ER nurse told me that even though they had to label it as threatened miscarriage on the paperwork, that's just what they had to put on anyone who came in bleeding after 14 weeks, and that they didn't actually think it was one. It's still frustrating though, I'm constantly nervous about bleeding. I go back for my 16 week appointment on Tuesday though and hope to maybe find some more information.
My biggest current problem is SPD though. I never had it with my first two pregnancies, but when I googled how I felt it sounded like classic SPD pain. I plan to bring it up on Tuesday, but it is killing me right now. It feels like my whole groin, inner thighs, and lower belly are a giant bruise.
